I read where the nhtsa was looking into issues with ford engines from 2009-2011 in fusions & escapes. thought i would relay my incident. traveling about 55-60 mph, the vehicle suddenly and without warning slowed to a crawl on a busy highway. we were able to nurse the car to the side of the road. noticed a amber "wrench" warning light. turned off the vehicle and re-started it. we were able to get the vehicle home under normal operating conditions. since it was a very hot day, just assumed it was heat related. happened 2 more times that week-end (at lower speeds in parking lots). took it to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the problem and could not get an error code. seems like the light has to actually be on. the dealer replaced the throttle body (under warranty). have not experienced another incident since, however the gears seem to shift much harder now, though not constant. it's a great vehicle, but i always have that power loss in my mind, praying it wont occur again. *tr

Pulling into traffic car lost all throttle control wrench light came on engine still running started surging or idled up and down had to put in park and restart acted like nothing happened! next day died twice more engine light on this time stayed on all day then went off and no code found went a week or so no issue till yesterday 7/23/2011 did it twice almost hit in rear twice! it only has 37000 miles help us they want even look until it shows a code! but may b too late then!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact was traveling 65 mph when the engine stalled. the vehicle restarted after the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 31,000 and the current mileage was 32,000. updated 08/16/12*lj the consumer stated the engine stalled, as she attempted to accelerate from a stop.

On 6/7/12 was driving car and check engine light and wrench light came on while driving on the road, 30 seconds later, engine shut off completely, could not accelerate and had to get the vehicle towed to the dealership. i was told that the purge valve and fuel filler pipe had to be replaced. on 6/11/12, picked up my vehicle from the dealership and was charged over $500 dollars for the service. 20 minutes later while driving on i45 north at 65 mph. same thing happened, car completely turned off, had to "coast" to the shoulder and avoid any vehicles. my vehicle, again, was towed to the dealership. this is very dangerous and must be taken care of immediately. the fact that i was charged over $500 to take care of the issue and for it to happen again is absurd. *tr

My car will randomly stall out. the engine will shut off while driving and come to a rough stop. when this happens a wrench comes up on the dashboard. now when this started happening the events were few and far between. recently its gotten so bad that i was on the interstate and this happened to me 9 times in under a mile. when i take it to get the readout the computer says code p2112. *tr

Anytime vehicle slows to a speed of approx. 20 mph.,it seems to want to stall then seconds later without touching gas pedal, speeds up and accelerates. i have had the vehicle in for service to village ford / dearborn michigan and they continually tell me no problem is detected. i have had several individuals drive my vehicle and have experienced the same issue. i have also located an article from my local news chanel wxyz speaking of this issue, stating it was not yet serious enough for recall. with ford motor's history i would say this needs to be looked into before serious injury does occur. *tr

While driving around town car would cut off completely going about 35 to 40 mph. most recent incident happened on mothers day driving 35 mph car shuttered when driving through a traffic light and when i hit the gas the rpm would go very high but the car would not move. i had to coast to the side of very busy road put my car in park and shut the engine off. when i tried to restart the car it would take longer than normal for the car to flip over and start. i had my fiance and 7 year old in the car and according to my fiance the car did the same thing to him a couple days prior. the car only has 40k miles on it and this is a very dangerous issue. i drive on the interstate everyday to and from work at 70 mph and i do not feel safe in this car. at 40k miles there should be no issues and this is 5th time the car has either shuttered like this or shut completely down. also have had issues with the turn signal lights, just replaced the left side and now the issue is with the right side. my car is currently at the dealership being fixed for $500 and apparently im not the only person with this issue. i believe ford should be held accountable for this problem and not us as this seems like and ongoing issue with this make and model of car. *tr

Driving on the highway in clermont fl. when car suddenly lost power, fortunately i was able to pull off the road, car was shaking and sputtering and the wrench light came on.shut the car off and then restarted it, it will run sometimes fine for a few days then it will happen again, sometime two or three times in one day.i pick up my grandchildren from school and sometimes work late at night. this is a serious safety problem, what is ford waiting for to recall this vehicle, for someone to be injured or killed?they need to fix this dangerous problem. *tr

This happened sometime back, however it could be related to your current investigations. when i had approx 1900 miles on the car and while i was going around 70 mph, the car went into limp mode and i lost all throttle control. after nearly getting hit from behind from a truck (cause i lost speed), i managed to pull over to safety and saw i had no throttle response. i turned off the car, and then turned it back on to find it out it wouldn't start. so i turned it off once again, waited 20 or so seconds, and turned the car back on and proceeded to work. later on that night, i pulled the codes off the system and kept them as pictures (p2104 and p2112) just in case the codes cleared (cold cycle). sure enough i go to the dealer the next day, no codes found and there is nothing they (ford) can do. i showed them the pictures, however i was still turned away. later on at around 7500 miles, this happened again and this time i was close enough to the dealer to run the codes. they performed tsb 11-4-23 on the engine throttle body and ecu, and installed a new wiring harness. little did i know at the time, but this states that under rare conditions the engine will emit those codes while the wipers are on. *tr

This is the 3rd report that i am filing in regard to my 2011 ford fusion. the throttle body assembly needs to be recalled. whether going highway speeds or in traffic less than 30mph, the vehicle will intermittently lose power to the throttle. the wrench and emissions lights both go on, the vehicle shakes violently and i lose all ability to accelerate. the only remedy is to restart the vehicle, which i often need to do in the middle of the road as i do not have the ability to get to a breakdown lane or other safe stopping point. this has happened on the highway, causing me to have to cross 4 lanes of highway traffic with no ability to accelerate. it has also occurred in the middle of intersections with turning traffic as well as at traffic lights, causing other drivers to unsafely pass me on the right. please note that when i do get into an accident, i will be finding both ford motor company and the national highway transportation safety administration responsible and liable for all injuries and damages due to the number of complaints and the administration's decision not enforce a recall. ford refuses to repair the issue unless they can replicate the problem; however, when i restart the vehicle the error is cleared. i have taken numerous videos of the problem and ford still refuses to replace the defective part. it is simply a matter of time before somebody gets killed. *tr

The vehicle will stop at random and will not move again until you put the vehicle in park and restart the vehicle. it has repeated several times and is getting worse. today the car stalled 4 times. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled as the wrench warning icon illuminated. the contact mentioned that the vehicle jerked violently when the failure occurred. the vehicle was merged to the side of the road where the vehicle was restarted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician stated that the throttle body, engine valve and fuel system needed to be cleaned and the power control module needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 53,552 and the approximate 160,000.

Vehicle not able to stop immediately. brakes went to floor. january 22, 20120 pulley noise in engine continuously where air conditioning belt is placed.
