Problems with 2011 Ford Fusion ENGINE

On average, the 2011 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 50 361 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2011 Ford Fusion

Since january of 2012 when i drive my fusion the vehicle just would quit and the check engine and tool light would stay on only until i would put the vehicle in park and restart it. i would take it to the local ford dealership and that the tcs module was bad then it happened again then they changed out the battery. then two weeks ago it happened again and took it back in now ford said its throttle body is bad and the part and the labor would be around 400 dollars to fix. this is a safety issue someone could get hurt or even killed. i feel that this should be recalled. i am not the only person that has had this issue. on top of this i don't have a vehicle to drive for over a month and a half. Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the engine stalled with the illumination of the wrench warning indicator. the contact was able to restart the vehicle thirty minutes later but the engine rpms increased drastically as the engine exhibited a loud roar. the vehicle was powered off and restarted a second time. the vehicle then resumed normally. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 37,000. updated 09/05/13*lj

***note: this started in may 2013 happened 3 times. dealership replace an intake sensor and then it happened again as listed below. this is putting me and my daughters in danger everytime this happens without prior warning. ---------------------------------------- july 19, 2013 @ 3:29 am: without warning this time the "check engine" indicator came on , the car made a weird noise like a dying rumble/purring noise as it became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park -started the engine and it acted normal -------------------------------------- july 19, 2013 @3:28 am: without warning the ?throttle control/transmission? indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park -started the engine and it acted normal ------------------------------------------- july 19, 2013 @ 1:20 am : without warning the ?throttle control/transmission? indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park -started the engine and it acted normal ---------------------------------------------------------- july 18, 2013 @4:30 pm: without warning the ?throttle control/transmission? indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park ?.i was in the back seat & instructed her what to do. -started the engine and it acted normal ***** ford dealership service technicians could not find or duplicate the problem. the issue escalated to the ford engineers. they determined that it was something like the massive intake air flow sensor and installed a new one ( ford part: fp 3l3z-128579-ba sensor assy) june 13 just prior to my business trip on june 17,2013. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the fuel filler needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 64,000. updated 10/31/13*cn the vehicle was repaired at a cost of $390. updated 11/12/13

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while traveling at unknown speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the vehicle was moved to the shoulder where it was restarted. the vehicle resumed normal function. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 72,000.

Started the vehicle and began driving, the throttle died in the middle of an intersection. had to restart car in intersection. the throttle returned momentarily. slowly drove the vehicle at < 5mph (as all it would allow) to autozone. received p2112 code: throttle control stuck shut. had to tow home. relevant to this article and investigation: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/02/25/probe-ford-cars-suvs-stalling/1945799/ have since paid for ford to replace the throttle body. am awaiting recall for reimbursement. *tr

Engine cut-off going at 5 mph. according to aamco code p2112 appeared on their reader. this code has to do with the throttle actuator control system. took car to local ford dealer and was told that the part, throttle body and motor asy., are on national back order. it took at two days or two weeks to receive the part. this is not acceptable; ford and their dealers should have this part available immediately. does someone need to have a serious or deadly accident before action is taken? *tr

My car engine "stalled" (the engine was running, but there was no power from the engine to accelerate) while i was driving and in the process of increasing my speed up to the 55 mph speed limit after turning onto a major road. since there was no engine power to accelerate, i had to let the car roll to the shoulder where i pulled over and restarted it. this has happened about 4 times in the last 6 monthsand i am very fearful that the car will stall while i am on a high speed, high traffic, multi-lane highway, which i use to drive to and from work every day. *tr

Was going just going down a residential street and a warning light came on and my car started surging and running rough and basically just stopped. i turned it off and let it sit a bit and then it restarted and the warning light was off and drove fine. one month later this happend again in town and approximately at the same speed. i figured i would have them check it as the owners manual stated to do if it happened more than once when i got my oil changed. about 3 weeks after the 2nd incident and 2 months after the 1st, i was on the interstate going 65 mph and the light came on and it was as if i was not getting any power, the accelerator didnt do anything and i had to pull over to the shoulder in heavy traffic. again i turned the car off let it sit a bit and continued on. my dealership is 10 miles from my home, as i was taking the car in to get checked and the oil changed the incident happened 2 times in this 10 mile distance in interstate traffic and again i had to pull off onto the shoulder in heavy traffic just to get to dealership. it happened 3 times in a 3 day period. they said this was not covered under the powertrain warranty and my car only has 54000 miles on it and it was 500.00 to fix.

I was braking because someone in front of me was turning right. when they turned and i let off the brake, i gave it gas to go. i didn't go after flooring it, and the car started bucking and jerking like crazy. it was in rush hour traffic. thanks be to god that i was right by a ford dealership. it was a very dangerous situation to be in when your throttle goes completely out. that's what the problem was...i need a new throttle body. that could have easily cause an accident. i've read on line where several people have experienced the same issue with the ford fusion se 3.0l v6. i firmly believe this is a matter that ford needs to correct. this is a situation that could have ended very badly had i been on a freeway/highway. i have never submitted something to you before. please do something! no one needs to get hurt. when your throttle goes out when you're driving it, it's a potential deadly consequence. *tr

I wanted to contact you about a serious safety issue in my 2011 ford fusion. i took it in for service in january 2013 and was told that the throttle body needed replaced after my car stalled a few times. i was told then the throttle body was backordered. i tried again in june and was told that this is a common problem and they are still backordered. after that, i was told that i could simply take the key out and put it back in after it stalled and it would be fine. and they were backordered from ford. on july 11th, the car stalled at the corner of i-70 and i-270 in columbus while traveling at 65mph. i pulled off to the side of the road and reset the car. while trying to get off the road, i went off the road to avoid any other cars as their was construction and no shoulder. after restarting it, i got back onto the road and the car stalled and i wasn't able to make it back off the road and nearly was hit by a semi from behind. the car stalled a minimum of ten times during rush hour. *tr

I was traveling about 45mph when the car just shut off. had to coast to side of the side of the road almost got rear ended. this has happened at least three more times in less than a week. the service department claims to know nothing about this problem. i'm sure the service managers are told to act dumb about this issue. i have read that other people have had this same issue. what will it take to get action, someone hurt or killed?? *tr

The first episode occurred when leaving a parking spot. car would not go more than 2 mph and was chugging. the others (4-5 incidents) happened while driving, often at 30-50 mph. sometimes it would be after a turn and during acceleration, others would be simply driving down the road. car would stall, yellow wrench light comes on, and i would have to stop, shift to park and turn off the car, then re-start. it would be fine for a few days, and another episode would happen. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the malfunction indicator light illuminated and the vehicle entered safe mode. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 57,000.

While driving on i-95 south approximately 65-70 mph in moderately heavy traffic, at exit 180, the car sounded like it dropped out of gear while accelerating. i was able to merge to the shoulder of the highway. the car continued coasting and the "wrench light" appeared. the car would not accelerate at all. when stopped, the car rattled and idled very hard and was shaking. the service engine light came on. i turned the car off and i waited a few minutes and cranked the car back and all was fine, wrench light and service engine light was off. this has happened 6 more times since july 8th 2013, yesterday it happened 4 times in the 1 hour, almost got slammed by two 18 wheeler trucks. this really should be a recall due to this type of situation can get people killed. *tr

I drive on freeway and light came on. and i couldn't accelerate. my rpms dropped and so i need pulled off several cars need to brake because my speed reduce to fast and put me on dangerous situation. *tr

The vehicle started to lose power while i was driving 45mph on a major roadway. i hit the accelerator to try and make it go, but the car continued to stall. luckily i was able to avoid getting hit head on or rear ended. i let the car sit for and hour before i started it. i made it about 5 miles before it lost all power and stalled again. i was almost rear ended again. the only way ford will fix it is if it registers a fault code which it is not doing. it just loses the ability to accelerate and stalls within a minute or less. they told me i just have to drive it. it is not safe to drive until they fix the problem. *tr

I was driving my 2011 ford fusion s with a v4 engine on 07/03/2013 at approximately 19:15 in the evening. i was traveling on a slight incline on a two-lane road at a speed of approximately 50 m.p.h. when all of the sudden the car stalled and would not longer accelerate. i pulled off the road and the car began to shake and the transmission slipped while shifting down. i turned off the car and then turned it on again. i drove to my destination 2 hours away without further incident. i drove the car a second time and the incident did not recur. the third time i drove the car after the first incident, the problem occurred again, which was on 07/05/2013 at approximately 17:00. it occurred in the middle of an interstate and i had to pull to the side of the road by cutting across traffic without the ability to accelerate!!! i took the car to a ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a faulty throttle control. i had to pay for the repair out of pocket because the warranty expired at 36,000 miles (my car has 38000 miles). this is a serious public safety concern. i have read that 2010 ford fusions also have a history of the same problem at about 2-3 years after purchase. i am grateful to have avoided a crash, but one could easily find themselves in a situation where they cannot accelerate because of this problem and end up seriously injured or dead because of a crash that it could cause. the car suddenly stops accelerating and this happens apparently at random, usually within 10-15 minutes of turning the car on. *tr

While driving on the freeway the car went an idle speed forcing me to get off of the freeway at reduced speed. tried to restart car several times. would only idle rough. let it sit 1/2 hour waiting for aaa ran ok after another restart. repeated several times since. once i was stalled in the middle of a traffic controlled intersection. was told i need a new throttle body and they are back ordered could take 6 weeks before one would be available because of long list of orders. this says it is a major design/manufacture fault/issue. i feel it should be recalled and replaced free if there are that many issues with this item. *tr

I have a 2011 ford fusion 3.0 l v6. i was driving down the highway with my 4 yr old, when the engine lost all acceleration power and an orange wrench light illuminated my dashboard. i was in the fast lane and had to cross 3 lanes of traffic in a disabled car to get to the shoulder! i would hit the gas pedal with no response and it was not shifting right at all. i cut the ignition and let it sit for a couple min while i looked through the manual to see what the wrench light was all about. when i turned it back on the light was still there and again , not shifting right. i let it sit for another 10 min and started it again. the wrench light was gone so i drove home. took it to the dealership and they said something about a sensor and the computer needed replacement.it was under warranty so i didn't really pay too much attention , but when i went online to see if it's happened to others..i was unpleasantly surprised to see that there are hundreds of other complaints on the same exact issue! as another commenter recommended, i called the ford consumer's hotline at 800-392-3673 to see if there's anything being done. the rep told me there's no recalls and all she can do is document it and to call her back if i need anything else...really? a car with no power on the highway is obviously a safety concern and with this many complaints i'm really surprised ford and the national highway traffic safety administration hasn't recalled this faulty part.does someone need to get hurt or worse, killed first? *tr

While vehicle was traveling at slow speed, two minutes after starting to drive, the vehicle suddenly loss power and went to limp mode with wrench light on the dash board. it happened twice in two weeks. vehicle was taken to nearest ford dealership for check-up but could not duplicate the problem. no action taken. *tr

1st: at stop light went green and i started to accelerate, the engine went into idle and i lost speed control. i managed to limp across the road and stop. placed in park shutoff the engine and restarted worked normal. 6/30/13 2nd: moving at road speed (posted limit 35) engine went to idle and i lost speed control, attempted to shutoff engine in neutral and restart problem continued. pulled off road placed in park, shutoff engine and restarted worked normal. 7/2/13 3rd: moving at road speed (posted limit 45) engine went to idle and i lost speed control, pulled onto side road placed in park, shutoff engine and restarted worked normal. 7/7/13 4th and 5th: when turning onto road to residence, engine went to idle and i lost speed control stopped on road, placed in park, shutoff engine and restarted worked normal.7/7/13 & 7/14/13. *tr

Engine stalled while driving 30mph flat city surface. no response with accelerator. pulled over. re-started engine. car ran ok for @ 2 miles; stalled again with 'wrench" & "engine" indicator lights illuminated. pulled over. re-start again; same scenario 3 more times; finally got "home" (it was midnight saturday night; using secondary roads only!). "p2111" failure code confirmed sunday @ "auto zone". *tr

It was raining heavily and my son and i were entering a highway via a ramp and the vehicle lost all acceleration and throttle response. i moved the car over to the side of the road. the car was idling but had not throttle response. stuck in the rain along the side of road. called for a tow truck to have the car towed to ford. diagnosed as bad throttle body. part back ordered for days. seems to be a common problem. *tr

I just purchased this car on june 26 2013 with 25580 miles. i pulled out of a parking lot and with no warning an orange wrench indicator came on the instrument panel followed by a complete loss of throttle response. i was able to pull over, put the car in park and restart the car. the wrench disappeared and the car was driving well. after about two miles i entered the interstate. after several miles traveling in heavy traffic i was able to cruise at about 65 to 70 miles per hour. with no warning just as described in the first occurrence, the wrench light came on and i had no use of the throttle. i had to pull over to the side of the road and this time the car was bucking and shuddering. i was able to restart the car and continue the rest of my trip. i have to bring it to the dealer on 07/01/2013 to have it diagnosed, but it is running ok now. the only other problem i have had is a random wavering idle speed. a few times the car has hunted between 600-900 rpms while in drive sitting at a traffic light. at first i thought this just the car making adjustments but now i wonder if it is all related. i am nervous driving the car because you have to pull over, stop, restart and then proceed. i tried both times the throttle died to shift into neutral, restart and continue to no avail. i have a 2009 ford fusion and have no similar issues. *tr

While accelerating on the highway at approximate. 65 mph on 27jun13, at 1745, the 2011 ford fusion sel lost all acceleration. we pulled over to the right hand shoulder, put the vehicle in park, and turned it off. we waited a moment, restarted then engine, and proceeded to merge with traffic. less than two miles later, the same thing happened. we pulled over again, turned off engine and waited a moment. we restarted it and drove it home. friday 5 jul13 the car went to kolwaski ford in avon lake oh. the reprogrammed the pcm for the rough shift of the transmission. we picked up the car, and less than 4 miles from the deals hip we had the repairs done, we experienced the same issue of lost acceleration. we called the dealership's service department, and advised the same engine failure occurred. while driving back to the dealerships, the engine once again lost power at an intersection. the car is currently at the service center of kolwaski ford in avon lake oh. *tr

I was driving down the road and the car just lost power. i would step on the gas and it would just barely move. i had to coast to a side road. i turned it off and then started it back up. it went a couple of blocks and did the same thing. then tried it again and it would not stay running. the check engine light came on. *tr

1st incident: i was with my children in the car at a red light, when the light changed to green i pushed the gas pedal to move forward the car started jerking and shaking then all the power was lost to the car. the wrench light was also on. i turned the key off, waited a few minutes turn the key again and car started and drove fine from there. 2nd incident: my husband stopped at a stop sign with myself and my children in the car, proceeded forward and the car began to loose power and jerking and shaking, we only made it across the intersection because we drifted. the wrench light came on. he turned the key off, waited a few minutes, turned the key and car started and drove okay from there. 3rd incident: myself with my children in the car stopped at a red light. when i proceeded to turn and go forward the car began loosing power, then started jerking and shaking and the wrench light came on. i turned the key off, waited a few minutes and started it back up and went ok from there. took the car to dealer and they diagnosed it as throttle body problem that needed $771.00 in repair. it is past the 36,000 mile warranty. we bought the car used from the dealer, past the emissions warranty date. this is a safety issue and concern that should warrant a recall. *tr

As i was driving down the highway between 65-70mph the gas peddle stopped working, the wrench light came on the dash board and i pulled to the side of the road. i turned the car off and restarted it but did have to pump the gas a time or 2 to get it started. engine lights went out. this same thing happened 7 times in what should have been a 1hr 45 min trip. i pulled into a ford dealer along the highway and they ran diagnostics for me and came up with the throttle body problem. i only had 3 episodes on the way home. *tr

My wife was driving vehicle at about 65 mph in morning rush hour traffic. while traveling yellow wrench light came on and vehicle slowed down while traveling in the far left lane (fast lane). had to safely get the car to side of the road as it coasted while traffic still maintained their normal speed. after removing key and letting vehicle sit for a couple minutes, put key back in ignition and started the vehicle back up. proceeded with no issues. called dealership and made an appointment for 7/1/2013. was told that there were no codes and could not get vehicle to perform our stated issue. was told it may be the throttle body and that they would order one (we are looking at the minimum a two week wait). and that they would not guarantee that this would fix the problem because there were no codes for them to go off of. it should be noted that our extended service contract does not cover this and that we would be looking at around a $400.00 repair. if we would of had preferred service plan that it would of been covered (imagine that!). so today my wife calls me again to tell me she is on the side of the highway because the issue happened again! and on top of this issue she now had a flat tire probably due to having to coast the vehicle to the side of the highway. we met up and changed vehicles. i proceeded to drive the vehicle back to work, but never made it due to the vehicle not wanting to operate and yellow wrench coming on along with check engine light. had vehicle towed back to dealership where they offered a loaner car while we wait for part to arrive with no estimated eta? a huge safety concern that ford seems to not care about and has a casual "we will get to it, when we get to it" mentality"!?!? *tr

While driving on a busy road in rush hour traffic going about 40-45 miles per hour my car engine was still running but would not accelerate. i looked down at the dash and the wrench light was on. i managed to coast out of the traffic and get to a safe spot. i tried to call dealer but they were not open yet. i sat with car still running for a few minutes to see if it would shift into gear but nothing happened. engine still running but when gas pedal was pushed nothing happened. i feel this is a safety issue because the car just slows down with no warning and could have caused an accident. not sure what i should do at this time so, i shut the car off and restarted it. it seemed to be working, so i started back on the road only to have it happen again. i turned the car off and back on again and it managed to get me to work. i have not gone to the dealer as of yet but it appears that the fusions are having a throttle body issue. if i go to the dealer and the car is not acting up, i will be paying for them to tell me they can't find anything wrong. according to the complaints this is a major safety issue. *tr

I was driving and i lost power- i was unable to accelerate, car stalled causing cars behind me to swerve off road to avoid hitting my car. the dealership says it is the throttle body sensor and there is a nationwide shortage of parts. *tr

I traded in my mercedes for a 2011 ford fusion with ffv to buy american. everything was fine until up to the point that the car stalled & surges at 60 mph on the freeway. i limped into the freeway shoulder and stopped the car. my family has never been in this very dangerous situation before. i was very disappointed that a car with 30,000 miles will have this kind of a problem. i think ford still has a problem with reliability. i'm going back to german cars. *tr

I was driving the vehicle on a four lane highway at a speed of 55 mph. the wrench (mechanical) warning light illuminated and the engine rpms dropped. i steered the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. i parked the vehicle and turned the engine off. i restarted the car and the wrench warning light no longer illuminated. the vehicle accelerated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the engine rpms increased and decreased while the vehicle was at idle. i have dropped off the vehicle to the ford dealership to get the problem diagnosed. i had another issue on or about 16 may 2013. i was driving the vehicle on a four lane road in heavy traffic at a speed of 45 mph. i was accelerating the vehicle up hill. the rpms on the engine surged and the vehicle accelerated to about 65 mph. the vehicle speed continued to increase. i quickly removed my foot from the accelerator. the rpms did not decrease when i removed my foot from the accelerator. i had to brake with my left foot and tap on the accelerator pedal with my right foot in order to get the accelerator unstuck. i almost rear ended the vehicle in front of my vehicle and was lucky i was able to get the accelerator unstuck before i reached a red light and would not been able to stop the vehicle. i did not take the vehicle to the dealership, because the vehicle seemed to drive fine without further instances until today. *tr

At approximately 30 mph the car suddenly lost all throttle response, the car was driven to the side of the road and ignition turned off. the car immediately restarted and was driven approximately 20 miles. on the way to a ford dealer while in the middle of a u-turn the throttle response was again lost, the ignition was turned off and the car again started normally......ford diagnosed the problem as a faulty throttle body which they did not have and had to be ordered. *tr

I was driving down the road and all of the sudden i loose acceleration power and a wrench symbol appeared on the dashboard. i was able to pull off the road. i had to turn off and restart the car to get going again. this has also happened two other times since with the same scenario. local dealer diagnosed as a defective throttle body. *tr

I was driving on the freeway at 65mph during heavy afternoon traffic when my car all of a sudden died and i had to quickly veer off to the service lane dodging honking, angry drivers nearly almost getting hit by one. luckily an accident was diverted by smart driving by me. after coasting to a stop, i turned the car off and turned it back on. thinking it was a minor hiccup, i drove back onto the road. after 10 miles the incident happened again and nearly another brush with death/accident, i got off the freeway and drove slowly all the way home which it died 2 more times. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, there was a sudden loss of power as the wrench light illuminated. the contact stated that on another occasion while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 80,000. *tr

*** this placed my family in danger. i had the gas pedal pushed to the floor and it would not go. it died. june 11, 2013 @ 8:15 pm: driving from eugene to springfield. everything was normal. i took the center city exit in springfield and the throttle control/transmission indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. so i did a test -i put the care in it idled normal and smoothly -i put the care in the idle sounded spotty like it was skipping and then it sounded wav y. not smooth and even like it did in '. -i put the care in he idle sounded spotty like it was skipping and then it sounded wav y. not smooth and even like it did in '. -i put the care in the idle sounded spotty like it was skipping and then it sounded wav y. not smooth and even like it did in '. -i put the care in the idle sounded spotty like it was skipping and then it sounded wav y. not smooth and even like it did in . -started the engine just like you normally do when you get into the car. the key acted like it was stuck a little bit before it returned to the normal position. -on the way home from springfield, at red lights the car idled spotty and wavy not smooth. *tr

Traveling on pennsylvania 476 south (toll road). construction currently in area i was traveling so 2 lanes of traffic with no shoulder. emergency pull off ramps located approximately every 2-3 miles along construction. traveling during rush hour in am, pressed accelerator and received no response. wrench light and check engine light appeared however car continued to run just with no power (later learned that this is what ford calls "limp mode"). had just passed and emergency pull-off when this happened so had to drive at very low speed (approximately 10 miles per hour) to get to next emergency pull off 2 miles ahead. very, very unsafe as i was blocking traffic on a major highway with no shoulder (jersey barriers on both sides of 2-lane highway). managed to "limp" to emergency pull off without being hit from behind. vehicle towed to ford dealer and was diagnosed with needing a throttle body (known ford problem for 2011 ford fusion vehicles). ...if ford is aware of this issue, why no recall? i was lucky as this incident happened in the worst possible area yet i was not hit from behind or injured. *tr

** i was giving it gas before it just died and it seemed like the gas was not getting to the engine to make it go. it put my family is danger!! something i would never get back if i lost. june 11, 2013 @ 7:30 pm: driving from springfield to 13the street in eugene. everything was normal, but then when i made a right turn onto 13th street then about 1 blocks later the throttle control/transmission' indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -i put the care in park -started the engine just like you normally do when you get into the car. the key acted like it was stuck a little bit before it returned to the normal position. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the check engine light. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Was in fast lane on rte 78 in nj.. sudden loss of engine power. could not get to the shoulder. drove into grass medium. came close to having a catastrophic accident. i got vehicle restarted and brought it to nazareth ford. as we run a fleet of fusions, i consulted a co-worker who had the same issue and ford confirmed it was a bad throttle body. this is a dangerous situation and these vehicles should be recalled. i spoke to my company's fleet mgr. and she said this was the third failure this month. *tr

Driving on highway, left lane at 72 mph, car made a clunking noise and shuddered, instantly lost ability to accelerate engine, tach dropped to 720 rpm, transmission acted as if it was in neutral. pulled off highway to shoulder. engine continued to run, but no response from accelerator. *tr

Vehicle loses all power while driving. wrench light appeared the first 7 times, but after turning the vehicle off and restarting, it goes away and car drives like normal. today while driving it happened at around 60mph. both the wrench light and check engine light came on and after a restart the check engine light stays on. vehicle barely limped the rest of the 5 miles to my house. this has happened at high speeds on the freeway as well nearly causing multiple accidents. currently waiting on dealership to come back with a quote to replace the throttle body. ford needs to issue a recall notice and warranty the cost of the replacement before someone gets killed due to this issue. they are just weighing the cost of a lawsuit due to fatality vs. the cost of warranting the malfunctioning part. paying a few million to a family is cheaper than paying to fix ~725,000 vehicles. work with the throttle body supplier, get your qa/qc under control, and fix the issue guys. *tr ## vin failed ##

I was driving 30mph down a busy street, with back-to-back traffic, when the car jolted forwarded at which time the wrench light became illuminated on the dashboard, the car immediately started bucking (going forward and backward) and i lost all control of the accelerator. the car immediately slowed to a crawl while continuing to "buck." this incident forced everyone behind me to slam on their breaks and i was nearly hit from behind. i was able to maneuver the car to the side of the road safely. my children were in the car and had i been going any faster, they may have suffered from whiplash when the car jolted forward, started bucking and slowed to a crawl simultaneously or this incident could have lead to a several car pile up since this happened during the busiest time of day. a tow truck was dispatched and towed the car to the nearest dealer. the dealer advised that the throttle body motor failed and when it did, the throttle was forced shut (error code: p2112). *tr

I was driving home from school (this has happened before, just not as bad) and my car stopped responding. the wrench light came on and the check engine light came on. i was on a really busy road, so i had to pray that i would not get hit. i turned off the car, and tried to restart it, but it did not want to restart. i sat for a few seconds and was finally able to get it restarted. this happened numerous (probably 6-8 times) on my 12 mile trip home. i took it to the shop this morning and found out it is the throttle body. i just looked it up online and have found out this is a common issue, and that the dealerships (when the car is under warranty) act like they don't know what it wrong. this is not right. there needs to be a recall! i don't have a warranty now, and i took my car to the dealership before the warranty was up and they said there was nothing wrong with it multiple times!!!! *tr

While driving roughly 45 mph vehicle suddenly began shaking and dropped speed quickly and drastically to less than 15 mph. this happened repeatedly after turning car off and back on. car would still run no problems under 25. *tr

electronic throttle body failure. i was driving down a major highway and my car lost power, the wrench light laminated. after trying to get off to the side of the road i shut the car off and waited a min then restarted the car. then i proceeded on my journey. i took the car to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and had him run a diagnostic on the car and no codes show up. i have done some research on the internet to see if anyone else has had the same problem. apparently i am not the only person with this defective part. looks like ford would grow a set of balls and make this a mandatory recall. it does cause a safety issue when you lose the ability to move your automobile about. you can not go any wear no matter how hard you press on the gas pedal. the dam car does not move. i guess it will take some one getting injured very badly or killed, and ford getting a law suite before any sort of recall will be done. if anything should happen to me i will be the first in line to file a law suite because ford is well aware of the problem but they chose to do nothing about it thus putting millions of peoples lives at stake. *tr

While driving the highway with cruise set at 75 mph, my car suddenly lost power, and i experienced no response while stepping on the accelerator. though this was very scary in the traffic i was in, i was eventually able to coast to the right shoulder (after upsetting many drivers around me) and came to a stop on the right shoulder. after a minute, i decided to shut off my car, and was able to restart, and drive as nothing happened. unfortunately, i experienced the same situation the next day, only at a lower speed (55 mph), and not with as much traffic. on the 3rd day, while on my way to the dealer, it happened again. after diagnosis, ford says i experienced a p2112 code, and almost 3 weeks later, ford still has my car because the part (throttle body assembly) is not available; completely unacceptable. *tr
