While driving down the interstate to work, the car all of the sudden jerked and started to decelerate. i was able to pull off onto the shoulder, while the car continued to jerk forward. i turned off the ignition, waited a few seconds, and restarted the car. i proceeded to reenter the highway, and a few seconds later it did the same thing again. i once again pulled off onto the shoulder, turned off the ignition, and restarted the car. this time the car ran fine all the way to work. i am concerned that since the freeway has a few construction spots where there are no shoulder pulloffs, i could have been in a serious accident. *tr
Was waiting to turn in my apartment complex, pushed on the gas, rpm's shot up to over 1500 and car would not move, then it slammed into gear and took off with wheels squealing. sounded like something was then being dragged under car. stopped and looked but nothing, put in gear to drive to parking spot and same thing, didn't move, rpm's up to 1500 and then slammed into drive. did make it to the parking stall where it then would not move at all when put in reverse and then into drive. vehicle had to be towed to dealership. seems to be a re-occurring issue with all the other complaints that i have seen. no warning lights came on at all. definitely a transmission/transfer case problem, which i have read is common for this year. this car was bought used with 22,785 miles on it and have only had it 4 months and put 5744 miles on it. something definitely needs to be looked into, a vehicle with 28,529 miles on it, no longer covered under the manufacturers warranty and i need to have a new transmission?? something is wrong here. thank goodness i bought the extended warranty! *tr
I was traveling 55 mph. suddenly lost rpm and engine started sputtering and within 5 second my car was dead in fast lane with no shoulder to pull over. cars braking hard behind me and honking. i was able to restart the car and moved to a gas station near by. took the car to an autozone. they read the engine light code p2111, which is an issue with throttle actuator. looked it up on google search. in my first search found hundreds of posting problem with this vehicle ford fusion 2011. the engine just goes dead no telling where and when. i was very lucky that did not get hit or lose control. imagine engine goes dead when you are traveling 55 mph or higher in a fast lane next thing you know, you are at complete stop with no brake or steering. see for yourself search for throttle body ford fusion. updated 11/24/2014 *js
2011 ford fusion. consumer writes in regards to throttle body problems. *smd the consumer received a letter from ford stating he could possibly experience a sudden reduction of engine power. the consumer believed a recall should be issued, instead of issuing warranty extension. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated while traveling at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the service engine warning illuminated. the failure recurred multiple times intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
Vehicle over accelerated when coming to a stop. i put both feet on brakes and shifted into park/neutral (has happened several times) and car accelerates to over 7000 rpm and automatically goes back down to normal. i have had the throttle body & motor assembly replaced (4/28/2014) yet it happened again immediately upon initial drive from ford dealership. dealership kept my car for 3 additional days and then advised that they could find nothing wrong and i was told (sales general manager) that what i was reporting to them "could not happen". *tr
While driving our car, my wife (along with my 9 month old baby girl) experienced a sudden loss of power and shaking engine. the car was not drivable so she pulled onto a side street and parked the car, leaving them stranded. no engine warning lights ever came on. this is exactly as described (minus the lack of check engine light) in the "ford customer satisfaction program 13n03" letter that we received a few months ago. this is an intermittent problem, so we were able to take the car in to the ford dealer. our local ford dealer was not able to pull a code as the check engine light never came on. the dealer, and ford customer service, refuse to replace the throttle body until the code for malfunctioning throttle body is read. my wife and infant daughter must now drive around (twice a day, 5 days a week) waiting for it to fail again, and take the car to the dealer at the time of malfunction. this is a major safety concern as the car will barely move and shakes so badly. it should not be driven across the city to the dealership in this condition, especially with a baby in the car. ford needs to recall these parts and replace them all to stop putting customers in danger with cars that barely move. as for the "customer satisfaction program"? not feeling very satisfied at all... *tr
After about 3 weeks of having the vehicle it started having a hard time starting it would take 3 or 4 times before the vehicle would actually start, this has been going on since 3/12/2014 then on may 9th, 2014 i was going to ft wayne and i lost power in the vehicle pulled over sit for a few minutes (and was lucky i was able to pull over on the interstate) after sitting for about 10 to 15 minutes then the vehicle started. i was late arriving to where i was going after the event i get in my car it takes 5 times to start, after the vehicle starting i head to the interstate it is 11pm i stop for a cup of coffee get back in my car and it will not start it back fires i let it sit for about 30 minutes after 3 attempts of trying the vehicle starts and i head for home. i call the southworth ford in marion indiana and now they are telling me that they need to do a diagnostics test and it will cost me $80.00 to see what is wrong and if there is a recall. (i have already talked to someone and they told me there is a recall of the electronic throttle body) and now another person is telling me it will be $80.00 to determine what is wrong with the vehicle. i need this fixed!!!! my son is getting ready to leave for afghanistan this is the reason i bought the vehicle so that i could go and see him off and i will be having a 10 hour drive. (i paid cash for this vehicle) and now they want to charge me for a recall? please help so i can see my soldier off for his 2nd tour....... *tr
During normal driving conditions and speed, the car just stopped being responsive to the acceleration pedal without warning, the maintenance wrench light came on, and the car started slowing down. i was able to turn on the hazard lights and pull over to a safe location, while cars were pulling up behind me very quickly. as the car was left idling it became very rough, like the car was missing. to correct the problem, i had to turn off the car, wait thirty seconds to a minute and start the car again. the car started a little rough but returned to normal operation. the maintenance wrench light was not illuminated and no other warning lights illuminated. this has happened twice so far about a month apart. the first time this happened the vehicle was less than three years old and only had 23,214 miles on it. luckily both times it happened on a local street and not on a highway. i consider this a safety and reliability problem. you have no idea when your car is going to just stop accelerating as you are driving. *tr
I was driving home from work and turn left at 25 mph. i suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and a wrench service light came on. i had to pull over and turn the car off . it took a while to start again. it happens everytime i take the car out and now shifts really rough. i took it to dealer and they said they know about the problem but will not replace part under warranty. the throttle body need to be replaced. it is just a matter of time before someone gets hurt. please act quickly. i think this should be a safety recall. *tr
I was driving on the highway, first my check engine light came on, then i drove a little farther and the wrench light came on and the car powered down to 5 mph. i had it towed and took it to the dealership today, and they are telling me that its the throttle body. i see all these complaints and it enrages me that something has not been done about this, i could have cause a major accident due to trying to get over to the side of the road. they need to hurry up and do a recall so someone else doesnt get stuck having to shell out $420 dollars like i did. *tr
Vehicle was being driven slowly to parking area when it suddenly accelerated and engine kept revving up and it lunged forward and crashed into a large tree, demolishing the front end. the ford parts performed exactly as they should have, preventing damage to the windshield or cabin area, but airbags did not deploy. the driver was not injured but was shaken up by the accident. upon inspection by the body shop and mechanic, the linkage was broken and damaged and needs further investigation to see if a defect in the linkage was a cause or contributing factor. damage to the front end is substantial and estimated in excess of $8,000 with the seen damage thus far. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the wrench warning icon illuminated as the vehicle lost power. the vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 50,000.
Traveling 70 mph on the highway and lost power with no warning. coasted to a stop with engine at a rough idle only. accelerator pedal had no effect on engine rpm. had vehicle towed the my ford dealership which diagnosed a failed "drive by wire" throttle body. i only have 37,400 miles on the car and yes 1,400 past the warranty (convenient $ for ford). this failed component at 70 mph on the highway caused several moments of anxiety until i got safely off the road. *tr
Began having problems with this vehicle the second month after purchase. the first incident was steering wheel locked and i could not control the direction of the car. i ended up on the left side of the road off the shoulder before i could stop it. it happened on several occasions. car dies for no reason. i end up having it towed or restarted by charging battery. the battery always has a full charge. also i have been shopping and get in the car to start it and it will not start. door handles would not work from inside. windows would not open. had to force window down enough to open from the outside. had front door handle assemble replaced had transfer case resealed horrible smell, new tires 3 times since it was purchased had rear drive shaft replaced, fuel pump replaced had taken it to ford just recently for what i deemed was computer problems, of course they could not find anything wrong. i was told by my mechanic the last time i had new tires put on the car that i would need new rims soon. the rims are eroding from the inside out. i have several invoices for work that was done and a few more i can't locate at this time. i would like to send them all to you. purchase car 12/1/12.
I was driving on the freeway when suddenly the vehicle lost speed completely and the wrench light turned on. i was fortunate enough to be driving fast enough and in the right lane and so was able to exit the freeway but the vehicle was extremely slow, not even 1mph. it did begin to shake while slowing down. this is an extremely dangerous malfunction. had i been in the left lane it would have been impossible to remove myself off the freeway safely. this is an issue that must be addressed. *tr
I was on the freeway driving approximately 65 mph and the car just suddenly shut off. i managed to coast off the freeway and was able to start it back up but shut off again two blocks down the road. it continued to shut off all the way to my mechanics shop. my mechanic found the issue to be with the throttle body. i had the throttle body replaced. he advised me that if the issue persisted that i would have to go to ford dealer to have the powertrain control module reprogrammed. *tr
Driving on freeway the car went limp and lost speed without responding to gas pedal. the wrench light came on at the time it happened. this happened twice, first time yesterday on the freeway, second time today while on freeway going to work. once i was able to pull over and stop the engine, it car started up again and ran. *tr
The error occurred as i was driving on a major 8-lane highway. i was about a quarter-mile from my exit (after being on the highway for 60 miles) when i felt a "clunk" and an orange-lit wrench appeared on my dash. as i turned onto the exit ramp, i slowed to a stop at a stop-light, waiting to turn left. while the brake was depressed, the car was attempting to move forward very abruptly, as part of it's "limp home" feature. when the light turned green, i released the brake and attempted to accelerate through the intersection, but pressing the gas pedal produced no response from the car. after limping through the intersection, i shifted the car into park and turned the engine off. after waiting 10-15 seconds, i restarted the car and the throttle issue and dash light were both gone. i have since driven ~100 miles without seeing the issue re-appear. *tr
I was driving downtown and next thing i know my wrench light comes on and i lose all power to my ford fusion. i was scared because i didn't know what was going on. i couldn't do anything until i pulled off the road and shut my car off and restarted it. this problem has happened to me multiple times within the past 3 weeks. i would have to say its happened at least 15 times in those 3 weeks. i am starting to get annoyed with this problem because i took the car to the dealership and they constantly tell me nothing is wrong with my car, yet i know there is definitely something wrong. the problem happened again on 11/26/2013 and when it did my check engine light came on with the wrench light so i took it to autozone for them to check the engine light code and the code was p2111 and the description it gave was that the throttle actuator control system was stuck open. i now have proof to take to the ford dealership that something is wrong with the car. they better fix this problem! *tr
Driving down highway, car loses power like it wasn't pulling, luckily i was in slow lane on highway, when i got over to shoulder of 2 lane highway the wrench on dashboard lit up & car died, after sitting for 5--7 minutes it cranked back up and i was able to take to ford dealership. i am not real happy after reading all the problems people are having. i usually take my 5 yr old grandson to daycare in morning so after this i am kinda leary of driving this car. if i had have been in the fast lane on this highway i would have had a harder time getting out of traffic and probably hit by another car or an 18 wheeler. thank god i did not have my grandson with me. after this i seriously think i need to get rid of this vehicle. *tr
While driving, vehicle suddenly lost power. rpms dropped and vehicle slowed to only a few mile per hour. vehicle would not accelerate. vehicle had to be towed to dealership, and i was informed it was a throttle body issue. i was informed this is a common issue, and there might be a recall. if this had occurred on the freeway, it could has been disastrous. *tr
We were going down a major roadway at about 45 mph when the car just decelerated to about 1 mph. it took us awhile to get over 2 lanes of heavy traffic to the side of road where we stopped the car. the wrench light came on. with it still running we popped open hood and car appeared to be running just fine. we could not get the rpm's to go up at all. we turned off car completely, and the wrench light went off and car drove normal. 2 hrs later the car did the exact same thing and we pulled over and started it up again and got home. we believe it has to do with the electronic throttle body, bc other complaints are exactly as ours with this year, make, and model of car. *tr
Incident #1. when accelerating from a stop, the engine started jerking and the car rolled forward slowly and the powertrain service light illuminated. shifted to neutral, rolled to shoulder, and re-started vehicle. operated normally after re-start. incident #2.(two days later) while accelerating from stop, when vehicle reached approximately 45 mph the engine started running poorly and the powertrain service light illuminated. rolled to shoulder, and re-started vehicle. operated normally after re-start. *tr
I was driving on a five lane highway near raleigh, nc and i suddenly lost power and the car nearly stopped in the middle of the road. it was frightening and dangerous to get to the side of the road across three lanes when cars were flying by. turned the car off, restarted it, and would get a mile or so, and it would lose power again. happened at least 10 times, and so, using the flashers, i was able to make it to a ford dealership. it was diagnosed as the throttle body going bad, and the service tech told me they had done hundreds of throttle body replacements for fusions, and that an attempt to have a recall is going on. i was extremely fortunately to not be rear-ended which could have been a deadly crash, and it was terrifying trying to cross three lanes of traffic with the car barely moving as it lost all power in less than 10 seconds each time. *tr
Lucky me, i happened to have two of these failed designed vehicles. my wife has a 2010 that developed throttle body problems at 35000 miles and now mine at 87500 miles. the 2010 left her stranded with zero engine power, in the middle of busy roads a total of two times before the dealership (palm coast ford) on the third visit decided that just cleaning and spraying down the failing hardware didn't cut it and finally put a new one on, luckily still under warranty. the mechanic did however say that this is a common occurrence for these ford products and that the same thing would probably happen to the throttle body he just put on. why ford did not fix the problem sooner at that point in time? my guess, not enough people had a direct link to their death from car accidents at that point in time! 20,000 miles later so far no other problems. now my 2011 fusion is a manual 6 speed. when my throttle body failed this morning while going to work i noticed that while in cruise control the speed was pulsing down and up around two mph. this would happen for a short time and then stop and be functioning properly for a while and then do it again. finally at a light i noticed the idle up and down and after accelerating to 60 it suddenly went to idle of 900 rpm. no power from the engine. you could floor it and nothing. well once again like many others that have had the same ford failure experience i almost was hit by another vehicle because of no where to pull over. i will purchase the part and replace it myself. i thought i would give ford a try again from years ago when i had a lynx that caught on fire, and a taurus sho ...
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact mentioned that the battery and oil warning lamps illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the air flow sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 96,540 and the current mileage was 99,448.
Vehicle hesitates then engine shuts down! *tr
Went to make a left hand turn in an intersection and car would not go. no matter how hard i pushed the gas pedal, it would not give the car gas to move. the rpm showed the car was idling, and the service wrench light came on. engine was shaking and appeared to be sputtering. very scary. i was almost hit by another car because of being stalled in the intersection. *tr
This has happened 7 times in the last 2 days. while driving, the engine just quits, or while idling at a red light , it just stalls. the yellow wrench light comes on. it restarts, but this is very frightening when it happens while driving at 30-40 mph. fortunately for me, no one was behind me when it happened and i was able to restart the car when the engine died in the middle of the road. i drove it straight home, but it happened 5 times on the 8 minute drive home. i researched and found that this is a known problem with ford. i reached out to ford motor corp by email and their response to me was basically, "hate that for you, we're not issuing a recall." ford is perfectly aware of this problem but corporate greed far outweighs consumer safety and they won't own up to the fact that they have a shoddy, and dangerous product. *tr
Wrench light came on and car lost all power over 60 mph. restarted vehicle underway and still had no power. had to pull off the side of the road on a very dangerous highway on an extremely foggy morning. restarted and car idled extremely rough and again had no acceleration. a few minutes later the vehicle restarted and continued on as normal. exact same incident happened later that day on the way home. vehicle did not want to start. after a few minutes of sitting, was able to continue on as normal. have not drove the car since the incident. *tr
While driving at all times, the vehicle would start to surge and buck then loose power. it never completely died but when i pulled over it ran terrible and would not accelerate. i turned it off for a few seconds and restarted it. it would run for a while, good, then the problem would reoccur. the engine light came on, i had the code checked. the result was a faulty throttle body or sort in the throttle body module. *tr
Was traveling 45 mph wrench light came on and stalled. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. while driving 40 mph, the check engine and electronic throttle control warning lights illuminated. the vehicle lost power and stalled. the vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the mass air flow sensor failed and idled at .58v when it should be at .75v. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, the throttle body was previously repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 85,881.
Traveling at a steady speed and the engine cut out. not completely but had no acceleration control. have read on-line that this is called "limp" mode. was able to pull safely off the road and then restarted the car after which the vehicle operated ok. this has happened 3 times in the last week. took car to dealer who replaced the throttle body at no charge since the vehicle was still under warranty. although i was lucky enough to avoid an accident or injury, i could see this being a serious safety issue for a driver on the expressway or pulling in to heavy traffic. *tr
This issue is a big safety concern!! i have seen many statements online about the throttle body issue and their should be a recall!! i personally have had to have my car towed twice within a 2 week period because of this issue. every time my car broke down it was the same thing. i was going along fine and then the car all of a sudden dies, chugs, i drift to the side of the road so i don't get hit and then the engine light comes on with the wrench tool! how scary and unsafe! i am just so glad i wasn't in an intersection or hit by another car because my ford fusion decided to die out of no where! i have had to go through two tows, days of waiting for my car to get fixed and my warranty deciding they aren't going to cover my cost!! unbelievable!!! ford needs to take some action now! many people from what i have seen are going through the same thing and something needs to change. this issue shouldn't be on the customers shoulder and ford needs to take responsibility before someone is seriously injured from an issue their cars are making. please do something about this! *tr
Was driving at aprox. 45 mph when suddenly unable to accelerate car. car did not shut off. yellow wrench light came on dash. drifted until able to stop vehicle. shut off car and unable to start. tried 2nd time and car restarted. a simple google search ended up with a tremendous amount of vehicles experiencing the same problem. vehicle has not been recalled. called ford garage and expecting tow truck to arrive shortly. unsafe to drive. this is a known and on going problem. ford does have a special service message out for the known problem. it is as bad as the toyota run away cars. recall should be issued before someone is killed. *tr
While driving my 2011 ford fusion through an intersection it cut off speed and throttle control abruptly. no accident but this issue left the possibility for one to happen. i was able to pull the car over after shutting it off and starting it several times. left the car off for about 10 minutes and it started and was able to drive again. made it to an autozone and found out it was throwing a cel of p2111. for the throttle body. the car had to be towed to the local ford dealership. i was told that the throttle body had to be replaced and would cost about 500 dollars. the service tech was very well aware of this issue that persists in my model car. *tr
This has happened multiple times varying from accelerating from a stop to highway speeds of 60+ mph. 2011 ford fusion sel suddenly loses all power and wrench icon illuminates and no acceleration happens at all. the engine remains at idle with fluctuations from 800-1200 rpms. had to cross multiple lanes and was almost ran into by three cars going a lot faster than me while i was listing to the emergency lane. once car is turned off and restarted the problem will go away. after much research and the one time it showed a check engine light i ran the codes and it all was pointing to a defective throttle body. i noticed that there are a lot of complaints with this aspect on this car and just hope someone doesn't have to get killed on the road like i almost did to get a recall on this car and part. *tr

Was driving on a local road, speed limit was 35mph, i was slowing down to stop at a red light then it turned green so i accelerated on the gas and then the vehicle started to lose power and and did not want to go and started acting like it was going to stall, so i pulled over parked and turned the vehicle off and then waited a few minutes and turn the car back on and the car seemed fine and i was able to drive again, this has happened at least 3 times in since then and i was told it was the throttle body that needed to be replaced, i am going to replaced it and hopefully it will do the trick. i heard that this is also a problem with other ford cars and is currently under investigation for a recall, i hope this letter helps with getting a recall submitted.
When coming to a stop, my car began to severely shake back and forth. it posed a danger risk for myself and my kids. fortunately, i was able to get to the side of the road in time, because it seemed that my car was about to crash into the car in front of me. i have been told by the dealership that it is a throttle body issue and is not covered under the warranty.
My wife was driving and i was her passenger on miller park highway on the 18th when all of a sudden the car jerks forward on us, it starts sputtering like it was going to choke out, my wife then tried to get on the should when she noticed that the cars accelerator went all the way to the floor without any response from the car. traffic was flying by us as the cars engine brake continued to slow us way way down. we were able to use the brakes. my wife finally got over to the side, turned on her hazards and turn off the car. we both sat on the side off roadway and i had to calm down my wife due to the fact hat she thought she was going to be in an accident. after a few minutes we turned on the car and the "wrentch" alert re-set itself and we were able to drive. my wife and i used to feel safe in our ford fusion, but unfortunately now we don't have any safe feelings after everything that our car has gone through ( blew out engine due to failed bearings, the trans slips all the time on us, etc etc ). we both truely loved this car, but now......
I was driving home going 45 mph when my car stalled without warning. when i tried to give it gas, it started jumping and jerking the wrench light came on. i was able inch by inch to move my car to the adjacent turning lane, turn on my flashers and call my husband on my cell phone. he was on his way home also and pulled up behind me. he tried to give it gas too but it would not budge. he turned the ignition off and then cranked the car. the wrench light went off and the car had power - just like turning it off had reset something. we were only a couple of miles from our house, so he drove by 2011 ford fusion home and i followed in his truck. i then called my dealer, jim tidwell ford on barrett parkway and told them what had happened. they suggested that i call a wrecker and have it towed to their location as driving the car might due further damage or the incident might re-occur. so, that's what i did. a service technician called me first thing this morning and i went over what had happened with him. he called me this afternoon and said my car was ready for pick up. the problem was the throttle body and motor assembly and since it was under warranty there would be no charge to me. i can't believe ford isn't declaring a recall on this part. if i had been on the expressway, i feel certain i would have been rear ended. this problem will cause someone to get killed. i'm just lucky no one hit me. it happened so suddenly and without warning. this type of situation will make you fall out of love with your ford product. i don't believe i will ever buy a ford product again, even though i prefer to buy american products. *tr
I was traveling at a rate of 65 on the highway. the car started to slow down and would not accelerate. i was able to move over to the left hand shoulder of the highway. the "wrench" symbol displayed on the dash. i turned the car off, turned on hazard lights. i waited a few minutes started the car up and was able to travel to the dealership. the dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty throttle body codes p2111 p2112. the throttle body was replaced and the vehicle appears to be running well now. this was a huge safety concern. my 9 year old son was in the backseat. thank goodness we were able to make it to the shoulder of the highway. i did not receive any advance warnings from the vehicle prior to it refusing to accelerate.
I have been sensing a surge in engine power for several months in my 2011 fusion. i suspected a throttle body problem and googled for information. i found all of the information on the nhtsa website about throttle body problems for this car as well as information in other forums. it was a good thing as i was prepared for what happened today. i had just left my house when the dreaded (and expected) loss of engine power with the wrench light being illuminated. i experienced the same symptoms reported by so many complaints logged for this issue: loss of power, rough idle, just enough power to barely move the car, certainly not enough to limp anywhere, much less home, even though the engine was in "limp home" mode. i had my code scanner with me and was able to retrieve the p2111 (throttle stuck open) code before i restarted the car to restore full power. this only worked enough to get the car turned around when limp home was triggered again. i restarted again and was able to get within a block of my house when limp home triggered once more. the third time i was able to get to my house. i called the dealer and then roadside assistance to get my car towed to the local ford dealer after verifying that they had a throttle body in stock. the car was towed there and a defective throttle body was diagnosed and replaced. this is not a case of if the failure will happen, but rather when. i was fully expecting it any day and sure enough, it happened. i was extremely fortunate as i was less than a mile from home, knew what to expect and how to deal with it, and my car was still in warranty, but only by 1,806 miles! any other situation would have resulted in me being in a very dangerous predicament with a car that was basically dead in the water. i was almost to the point of purchasing a new throttle body on my own in the interest of being proactive rather than being stranded. *tr
My wife was driving down the highway and the engine bucked and seemed to stall, then recovered. the previous week it had stalled completely. shortly after it stalled while i was driving it again and did not recover. *tr
Vehicle was getting up to speed at about 40-50 mph and upon depressing gas pedal combined with shifting of gears (automatic), engine stalled. occurred twice with 5 miles on busy highway. engine light and wrench light came on each time. after shutting down engine on shoulder, it started right back and ran fine for a while. was fortunate with no traffic incident/accident either time. occurred three more times before getting to dealership. dealership service informed me that it was a throttle body issue and replaced the throttle body part it at my cost as the extended warranty did not cover it. *tr
This is my second occurrence: i was driving at a level speed of about 45 with the flow of traffic (in-city road, speed limit 45). when i heard my car seem to shift out of gear, and start stalling and slowing down and the wrench icon on the dash was lit up. i was in the left lane of a four-lane street. i got to quickest upcoming shoulder, and turned my vehicle fully off and back on. this stopped my car from stalling and shaking. but i am starting to feel very unsafe in my vehicle because there is no warning when my car will stall out and i do a lot of highway traveling. this was the second time in a 2 week period that this has happened. *tr
I was driving on a main thoroughfare going about 45 mph when my vehicle lost all power and slowed down to about 2 mph. the car began sputtering and shaking so i had to immediately get off the road and turn the car off. i waited for a few minutes and started it again, but it would not go over 2 mph. a family member happened to be behind me and had to help me get off road with traffic passing by us. he thought perhaps i had water in the gas so we bought an additive to see if it helped, and it seemed to work for about a week and a half, but then it happened again two more times. this time the service engine light came on as well. i went to an auto parts store where they tested it and got an error code of p2111. i had to go the ford dealership where i was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. i have a friend who had this exact same issue with her ford fusion just a few months back. she paid over $500 to get hers repaired and i had to pay about $400 to get mine repaired. i understand that this seems to be an issue, and i believe ford needs to issue a recall. *jb
