Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while the vehicle was undergoing a routine inspection at sunnyvale ford (650 e el camino real, sunnyvale, ca 94087, (408) 215-9949), the mechanic noticed that the front driver's side wheel lug nut was fractured and the wheel could not be removed. the vehicle was repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 11v574000 (wheels). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 25152622. the failure mileage was 118,000.

Well i get out this morning to take my kids to school when i crank the car and we start riding the service advancetrac light came on in blank then the service power steering light came on. so after i drop them off i was on my way home the light continue to blink as i pulled up in my driveway the steering wheel start to get hard to steer so i'll park got out well so i'll part pop the hood got out and check for power steering on to realize that is not one because it's electric. so when i look online to my surprise everybody with a ford fusion is having the same as a problem different year different engine size but same problem no one seems to have a solution because it's many things that can cause the problem is very stressful i think y'all should have that on recall to help better assist people with the problems. unfortunately i hate the fact that my my warranty is up as father with a family of five don't have the money to afford to pay for to get it fixed.

One morning when my wife was getting ready to leave for the gym her car said 'power steering assist fault.' now the car has no power steering and if you try to drive it it flashes 'service advance trac now. sadly we don't have the money to fix this so the car is stuck in the drive way.

While in motion my vehicle does not speed up when coming from a dead stop. even traveling speeds of 60mph i can not push on the gas and proceed fast enough to quickly switch lanes. it runs high rpms

Recall 11s23 does not fix lug stud fracture causing wheel separation, recall was done yet after done 4 of 5 lug studs broke off while driving right hand front and 2 on left front wheel . driving straight on freeway. could cause loss of life

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the chrome cap cover over the lug nuts expanded on all four tires. as a result, the lug nuts were damaged. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the lug nuts needed to be replaced. the vehicle was currently being repaired. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 83,000.

Seven wheel studs have broken off on the left-hand side. six since november, 2018. i don't know when they happened or how, but noticed. one broke a long time ago on the back left wheel and i drove on it for several years. i noticed at thanksgiving two more on the front left wheel and fixed it promptly, only driving to pick up parts, replacing all five on the front tire and the broken one of the back tire. in january 2019, i noticed two more on the back wheel sheared off and replaced all five. in april 2019, i noticed two more on the back wheel sheared off and replaced those two. at this point, i am shopping for a new car, but wanted to raise the alarm that there could be something going on with this vehicle. i have 190,000 miles on it and the hubcaps (which are known to fall off on this vehicle) have fallen off on three of the four wheels, including the two that have had problems.

I picked up a screw in my front passenger side tire somewhere on the road and called my insurance company to have someone come change the tire for me. after getting the flat tire changed to a spare, my power steering and advancetrac experienced complete failure upon restarting the car. i took the car to a garage and they told me i needed a completely new power steering rack that could cost $2,800 plus labor because the computer/sensor inside my current rack was faulty. they also informed me that ford fusion model years 2011 to 2014 had been recalled for this exact same reason, but 2010's have not. i experienced no issues with the power steering or advancetrac prior to this. after getting the flat repaired and put back on my vehicle, the power steering code was reset, but the garage told me my power steering could fail at any time while driving and i should drive accordingly if i wasn't going to get it repaired. i have not had the power steering fail again, but ever since the initial incident, my low tire pressure light has been on constantly despite the tire pressure being checked and deemed acceptable multiple times.

Primewell valera touring developed cracks in the sidewall and lost air at highway speed. i found out that there is a recall for these tires. i am trying to get this rectified with the tire distributor, but at this point no luck.

Abs module seems to cause random loss of braking -- vehicle starts braking normally, then sudden loss of hydraulic and pedal goes almost to floor before some braking resumes. it's a relatively infrequent problem ( four times in 6 months) with no apparent trigger, and has happened when pulling straight into a parking spot, stoping for a stoplight, and turning off of a freeway onto an off-ramp. weather conditions during occurerences were dry and sunny twice, raining once, and overcast and about 50 deg f on the most recent (oct. 10, 2018) occasion. an unrelated matter has to do with their wheel lug nuts. they have a two-part constriuction, and the outer layer swells so that it cannot be serviced using the oem tire changing hardware supplied with spare tire.

Battery died due to sitting for a long period of time. even though car was started numerous times during the week. tires lost air twice due to sitting and told not to drive the vehicle.

There has been an investigation on this complaint but it not under my vin number. my car is shaking causing vibration when i'm driving. the tire seems if it's going to fall off the car as i'm driving. there is no light indicating there is something wrong. it does not pick up speed i would have to put my foot all the way to the floor for it to really go anywhere. i'm on the highway everyday going to work. i hope one of these days nothing happens to me or my family because ford won't just take a look at the car when i'm calling them telling them that it's the same problem the recall explains what the problems are. recall #11v57400

Lugs nuts will not come off

Vehicle makes poppong sounds when car turns to side

Complaint involving ford fusion tire bolts and lug nuts (2010 model). this is the second time the tire bolts break (3 on the front right side and 2 on the front left side). the vehicle front tire bolts and lug nuts were fixed by the original ford dealer for the a recall for this same exact issue right after we purchased this car in 2010. we've recently noticed a difference driving (both city and highway) and took it in for normal maintenance and the exact same issue has arose again in the exact same location. ford dealership doesn't have any additional recall on this same issue, however we've read that there is a lawsuit in mi regarding swollen lug nuts and wonder if this is related. further documentation will be collected once our repair is paid for.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 11v574000 (wheels). the contact took the vehicle to be inspected and was informed that the lug nuts were defective. the vehicle was taken to ford west lest herr (10 campbell blvd, getzville, ny 14068, 716-698-5464). the vehicle was not repaired due to cost. the failure mileage was 65,049.

Wheel studs have broken while being serviced by ford, they have broken off when i've removed the wheels, they have broken off when independent repair shops have removed the wheels. ford covered this under 11s23 (nhtsa 11v574000). however, my vehicle was manufactured during the dates specified by ford, has the wheels which exhibit the problem, and has experienced this problem multiple times. ford says my vin does not match one of the recalled vehicles. i have paid to have the wheel studs replaced, on multiple occasions.

Every time this vehicle has the tires rotated there is a broken front right side wheel lug. twice it has happened at the local ford dealer, where the vehicle was purchased. the vehicle was recalled in 2012 and 2 wheel lugs on the rear were replaced. the tire shop refuses to rotate the tires unless i replace all the original ford capped wheel nuts. this is a ford problem and has been for some time it is time that some type of action is taken'

Wheel studs break off. the wheel studs have broken off multiple times while being torqued down at the dealership. they have broken off when i've replaced a tire, they have broken off when other repair shops have worked on them. i have already had them replaced twice, and need to have them replaced a third time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving various speeds, the driver and passenger wheel studs fractured. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the wheel studs needed to be to replaced. the vehicle was repaired. a local dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 135,000.

I am fed up with my fusion having low pressure light coming on and having to carry an air compressor at all times because the low pressure light comes on any time and you don't have much time to get air into it before other issues start. i have seen where others are having the same problem. i keep being told that the tires are fine and that there is just some corrosion on the rims. they clean it up and remount the tires and it might be ok for 4-6 weeks. it does not matter what temperature or type of weather. it happens on county roads, city roads and interstate highways.

Just paid $1658.00 for the removal and replacement of the rack & pinion in our 2010 ford fusion due to an inherent defect of the steering system that occurs around 90,0000 -100,000 miles.

Lug nuts are stripped. the dealer stripped them when rotating the tires. the lug nuts are not chrome plated, they have a shiny tin coating over the base metal. when i took it to a tire place they said they had trouble removing the wheels. i had to purchase new ones from ford. i have the old ones (see photo), see also https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2017/ford-swollen-lug-nuts-class-action-lawsuit.shtml

Wheel studs fracture while in motion on smooth roadways city streets as well as highways at variable speeds between 5mph to 60mph . studs have been replaced 7 times. issue is reoccurring.

Power steering has gone out. the tire pressure light has come on and been on. luckily it has happened at home so the car was not moving. however to fix this known issue the cost is approximately 1500. i have been making payments on this vehicle and have not been able to drive it due to the cost to fix it. i am aware that this is a known issue not only on my car but fusions in general.

Since purchasing my certified preowned 2010 ford fusion i have had 6 separate occasions where 1-2 wheel studs broke off completely from the wheel. the last incident i had 4 out of the 5 break off and had to have my car towed to the dealership. i contacted ford concerning this issue on the third occasion of me replacing the studs. they gave me an incident # and told me to give it to the dealership when they fixed the wheel. after giving the dealership associate the number she explained that it had been denied by ford stating there had been a recall but my wheel was not the right size. the dealership still replaced the studs for free as a courtesy to me. this last time i stopped at a stop sign then turned left onto a highway and as soon as i turned the stud broke off and i ran over it.i have also had them break off driving down the interstate and hit the side of my car. the most current incident happened yesterday 12/12/2016 with the car being towed to the dealership on 12/13/2016. *tr

One of the post on my wheel is broken.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while the vehicle was being inspected, the contact was informed that three studs were fractured without warning. in addition, the contact heard a rattling noise. it was diagnosed that the studs needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v574000 (wheels). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 125,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that he had a flat tire and was unable to loosen the lug nut. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (bergstrom ford of fox valley in neenah, wi, 920-727-9000) for tire rotation, but the technician refused to rotate the tires without changing all the lug nuts at the contact's expense. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that unless there was a recall, the contact would be responsible for any diagnostic testing. the repairs were performed by the contact's friend. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Following the repair in accordance with a 2011 recall on the wheel lugs, the lugs continue to break off the wheels. the times i have noticed it happening i was turning at a slow speed in or out of a driveway. it seems to cause stress on the lugs when i turn the wheel. last time it happened i heard a pop and then the next time i pulled out of a parking lot i heard it again and a lug had fallen off. this has happened at least four times since the original recall repair.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. when the vehicle was taken to have the two front tires replaced, the stud on the front driver side wheel was fractured. the contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously serviced for the same failure. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 115,380.

I purchased the vehicle in dec 2010. a recall notice in jan. 2012 stated "the wheel studs on your vehicle may fracture." when i brought the car in for that recall in april 2012, the dealership replaced one broken wheel stud but didn't indicate which wheel. in april 2013, a wheel stud on the front driver's side broke and the dealership replaced it noting the recall. in june 2016, a wheel stud on the front passenger side broke. now ford is claiming that the wheel studs were not recalled and refused to cover the repair costs even though the 2012 letter opens with that remark. the ford representative acknowledged that it is rare that wheel studs break which leads me to believe that there is a manufacturing defect in the studs on my vehicle. i have not had this problem on any previous vehicles that i've owned and have not changed my manner of maintenance so i do not believe my actions are causing the studs to break. having experienced three wheel stud failures in five years, it appears that the wheel studs were not reliably manufactured, have an increased risk of breaking under normal conditions, and pose a safety risk from possible wheel separation.

While driving into a moderate left curve on a narrow two lane city street there was a loss of power steering. this resulted in loss of control allowing the car to jump the curb and into a fire hydrant. no airbags deployed one minor injury to a passenger. car was totaled. no tickets were issued. the car was under a recall 15s34for some problem with the ptcm and fuel tank and canister purge valve and was scheduled to repaired 04/27/16. recall was first recevied on 01//2016 but the repair ok was received in 04/16. there is also a preliminary evaluation by the office of defects investigation on the loss of power steering on this yr ford fusion.

I have a 2010 ford fusion se 4drv6 and was driving my vehicle down a highway and my low tire pressure light came on. unable to pull over immediately i drove to the nearest good year which offers free tire repair when out of no where the traction stability control kicked in on my car and my service screen said "service power steering now" i maintained control of the vehicle until i got to good year where they discovered that i had no power steering. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving at approximately 10 mph after the front passenger side tire blew out, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. the service power steering now warning indicator illuminated. the contact merged to the shoulder of the road and replaced the tire, but the steering wheel failure persisted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 168,000. the vin was unavailable.

I was pulling out of a parking lot when i realized i wasn't able to turn my steering wheel. i saw the alert message "power steering assist fault." i pulled back into my parking spot, restarted my car, and was able to drive and use the steering wheel just fine. this has actually happened several times before when starting my car but i thought my car just needed to 'warm up.' this was the first time it didn't work after waiting a few moments. i researched other complaints online and i'm seeing that this issue has happened to other ford fusion 2010 owners while they were driving, and many of the cases resulted in accidents. also, issue with impaired lug nuts. some car shops have been unable to rotate my tires because they couldn't get them off.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that three of the front passenger wheel lug nuts were missing. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it discovered that the wheel studs of the entire vehicle were fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v574000 (wheels). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 92,000. updated 02/12/16*lj

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while replacing the tires, the wheel studs fractured during the installation. the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 11v574000 (wheels); however, the failure recurred. the contact discovered that the wheel studs were missing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

This is the 6th time i have had broken wheel studs on either the drivers or passengers side front wheels. i went to the dealer and was told there is no recall for my vehicle and they have never heard of this problem. suggested i re-torque the nuts at 500 miles, hard to do when they are gone.

Unusual wheel vibration on 2010 ford fusion continuous since summer 2015.

My wife was driving our 2010 ford fusion approximately 65 mph when she felt a vibration in the steering. upon getting home, we found a severed wheel stud on the front drivers side wheel. oddly enough, this is the second time this has happened to us on this vehicle. ford issued a recall but our model fusion was outside of the affected manufactured vehicles by one month. the first time a ford dealer replaced the stud. the second time, another ford dealer has replaced the stud. this is extremely dangerous!

My fusion has now had a wheel stud on the front passenger wheel break off. each has been roughly every 25,000 miles. the first was laying in my driveway, the second was missing when i went to the dealer for service and the third broke off during a tire rotation. in addition all studs were replaced due to a service bulletin early in the life of the car. also lugnuts have been replaced along the way by the dealer due to bad wear. after the second time i reached out to ford and filed a complaint but they simply forwarded it back to the dealer.the dealer has a record of all of the issues and the full replacement but has stated since ford passed it back to them there is nothing that can be done. i feel this is an unsafe situation for my car. they should not break 3 times within 75,000 miles. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the wheel lug studs fractured on both front wheels of the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified and purchased parts to repair the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred multiple times. the contact felt that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. the failure mileage was 89,500.

Since the beginning of january 2015 ( this now being feb 10, 2015), i have had 9 wheel studs fracture. 3 on the front right wheel, 2 on the rear right wheel ( all 10 were replaced on the right side only to have 2 more on the right rear wheel fracture again) and 2 on the left rear wheel. i called the dealership where i purchased my car and they told me there was no recall for this and that they could not do anything for me. i then called ford and they advised me that there was a recall and the previous owner had this taken care of and as of this point they could not do anything more for me, but to forward my complaint on through the system at ford. i bought this car used on july 25, 2014. *tr

My car started saying power steering warning message ,and the wheel very hard to turn , i went to the dealer ship , where i purchase , he told me he couldn't do nothing , i just purchase my fusion 2010 ford four months ago . *tr

While driving down a highway, my low tire pressure light came on and i could tell it was very low due to my ability to steer. i pulled in a gas station and tried to fill the tire with air, but it was blown out on the inside wall and remained flat. i put the spare tire on and when i began to pull away, i realized i had no power steering. warning lights came on in succession for low tire pressure (still?), service power steering and service advancetrac. i was about 40 miles from home and had to drive in slow lanes as steering was very difficult. i read some message boards regarding an investigation into this issue, but can't find a common solution that has worked. some say to just turn off and restart, others are saying they spend $1500+. i am worried that i will spend the money and the problem may still exist as it sounds like many have experienced. i have cleaned the battery, disconnected it as some have said also. still the same for now, will have to take it in. *tr

I have had this car for 2 years now. i first had issues with the throttle body and my car shutting off at intersections and had that replaced within a year of buying the car. i have been having issues with the transmission slipping between 1st and 2nd gear for almost a year now. i first had seals replaced. the second time i had my cv joint boots replaced and found out they are wearing out the seals that are causing transmission leaks. the car is in the shop for the 3rd time because of the same transmission leaks and difficult shifting between 1st and 2nd gear and will most likely be getting a new transmission because the cv joints and seals have failed again within the 3 months of being replaced. *tr
