We have classified the 258 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
My wife and son were in the car and had stopped at a busy 4-way stop intersection. with no prior warning the car started to shake and the check engine light and battery light came on. the power steering was barely working and the car stalled just past the intersection. they were able to restart the car, but the minute the car was put in drive it would start shaking etc.... we had to have the car towed back to van bortel ford in east rochester ny for repairs. the dealership stated that we needed a new throttle body ($465.34) and a new battery ($123.90) on a 3 year old car. they indicated they new of a possible recall and told us to hang on to our receipt for a refund if the recall happens. *tr
While on my way out of town from columbia, mo to chicago, il on 08/09/2013 when the first throttle problem started. while my husband and i were on the road driving 60mph, the wrench light came on and while on the highway the car slowed all the way down with my doing it. i had to hurry over to the side of the highway in order to not get into an accident. the state trooper for missouri pulled behind us to find out what the problem was. we didn't know so we looked in our handbook. then we noticed that it means that there was a problem with the throttle and to service it if the problem persist. during the week of 09/09/2013-0913/2013 while my husband was driving the same problem happened again. he took the car to the ford dealership where we bought it and they stated that they have received complaints but no recall order. our mechanic estimated the cost to fix the throttle issue to be between $500-$600. today 09/18/2013 while on the highway to go to work, the car stalled and stopped on me 3 times. i find this unacceptable especially because this has been a constant complaint with other owner of the vehicle and no recall or reimbursement has been made as of yet.
My fiance was driving on i-26 to work 40 miles away. the car started jerking and stalling and losing power a semi blew the horn at her and swerved around her. she pulled over on the side of the road and cut the car off. when she started it back up and ran for a few more miles at a reduced speed but it kept doing the same thing. i took it to ford dealership and they said that it was the throttle body and that they were common for this. its so common that throttle bodies are on backorder. the only place you can get them is a ford dealership for around $450 installed. i investigated on the internet and found out that it is a common problem but ford refuses to do a recall. what is it going to take; for someone to die before they do one. if that semi had not been watching, my fiance may have been the one. *tr
Driving to work on 8/5/13 at around 40mph when my vehicle starts to automatically slow down and shake. i looked down at the dashboard and noticed a "wrench" was lit up for a warning, but it was not there when i started the car before going to work. i was able to pull over and stop for a few minutes. i started the car again without any problems, and the "wrench" sign was not lit. i was able to make it to work, which was another 5-10 miles away, but i drove around 25mph in case i needed to pull over again. later that same day, the same exact thing happened while driving on the highway on an incline at a speed of 50mph. i was almost hit from behind because the car stalled immediately without warning and the driver behind me could not tell that my car was slowing down immediately. luckily i was not hit and i was able to pull over and stopped the car for a few minutes. again, i re-started the car without the "wrench" sign lighting up. i drove straight to the dealership. they were not able to look at it that day, so i had to leave the car overnight and get a rental. i received a call the next day from the dealership and was told that it was a failure of the electronic throttle body. total out of pocket cost of almost $690. my vehicle is only a little over 3 years old and only has 52,000 miles on it. *tr
I drive approximately 80 miles per day, 5 days a week. while driving on the highway at normal speeds of 45-60 mph, my fusion lost all acceleration power. this has happened 3 times in the last week alone. each time, the wrench warning light appeared on the dashboard so i had to coast to the side of the highway and restart my vehicle before i could return safely to the road. during each incident, i was in several lanes of traffic, and losing all power certainly creates a dangerous environment for me and other drivers around. *tr
I was driving on the freeway and the car jerked i tried to give it gas and it wouldn't go anywhere had to pull over on the side of highway and turned the car off and it worked fine i hooked a code scanner and trouble code p2111 popped up throttle body stuck open.. *tr
The car lost throttle response while driving on the highway. the car then started idling very rough. turned the car off then on again and it was fine until i pulled back onto the highway and it lost power again. i turned the car off for approx 30 min. turned it back on then drove to an auto zone and got a p2111 error code which stated that the throttle body was stuck open or closed. took it to the dealership the next morning and they stated that it was the throttle body and estimated cost to replace was $400. after researching this appears to be a common problem with the fusion. *tr
Driving ~40 mph, took foot off accelerator, wrench indicator light turned on, could no longer accelerate, had to roll onto breakdown lane. turned engine off, could not start car 1st attempt. car started on 2nd attempt, and the light went off. has occurred 4 times now, 3 times at speeds of ~40 mph and one time while slowing down for a traffic light. very scary for the young drivers in my family. *tr
While driving on i-85 south approximately 50-60 mph in moderately heavy traffic, between exits 27 and 26, the car sounded like it dropped out of gear while accelerating. i was able to merge to the shoulder of the highway. the car continued decelerating and the "wrench light" appeared. the car would not accelerate at all. when stopped (at the ramp for exit 26), the car rattled and idled very hard and was shaking. the battery light appeared, then the oil lamp appeared and the car shut off completely. i was towed an hour later to keith hawthorne ford in belmont. on monday, july 29, 2013, the service manager, stated that the throttle body had failed; when they hooked-up the car to the testing machine, it did not show any codes. they replaced the failed throttle body, i paid for repairs and have the failed throttle body in my possession. *tr
Multiple incidents have occurred. the vehicle will be cruising at highway speeds, then lose all engine power and the car begins to shake violently. i need to put my hazards on and come to a complete stop wherever i am, including busy traffic. the car continues to shake while shifting into park. after in park, i turn the car off, wait 30 seconds, then start it again. the shaking ceases upon restarting, and will drive fine for 5-10 minutes before repeating the incident over again and losing all engine power. a ford dealership diagnosed the problem as a failed throttle body. the repair cost over $500. *tr
I was driving home from the store today on a 4 lane road and was making a left turn when the car powered down to 1 mph and stayed there. thankfully the car i turned in front of had plenty of time to slow down to avoid me. i traveled two blocks home as the car only allowed me to go 1 mph with the wrench light on and with a slightly jerky ride. i called my local repair shop and they got me in to take a look at it. i assumed bad gas or a fuel line needed to be cleaned, but also thought it was odd that a three year old car needed any work. they troubleshooter and cleaned the fuel lines and took out the moisture they thought was causing this. the mechanic then took it for a test run in the local parking lot where the car shut down on him and once he restarted the car ran fine. he said no codes came up but with investigating online he found it to be the fuel throttle needed to be replaced and he would call me for an estimate and that i might want to join the complaint issue online. i will receive my estimate on monday. ford really needs to take care of their customers. i have no problem paying for a wear and tear issue. i do have a problem with companies ignoring customer complaints and not tackling the issue before a death ensues. is it really worth someone being severely injured or killed over saving your name? funny part is that i choose to go back to an american made car after wanting to support the recovery and fellow family members that work for ford. i will never forgive ford if they do not take care of this and if my car is $400.00 or more in repair. this has happened 4 times now and i am afraid to drive the car. please help. *tr
60 mph on highway. wrench light came on. lost power. coasted to side of road (luckily safely). turned car off. restarted after a few minutes. continued about 1/2 mile. happened again. did same thing. continued another 1/2 mile. did it again. engine shuttered this time. check engine light remains on. was able to restart vehicle and get home (approximately 2 miles). happened once shortly after used vehicle purchase in 2011 but never did again until now. internet search indicates defective throttle body part is cause. very unsafe particularly in highway driving when this happens! just purchased a second 2011 ford fusion se (2011) for our teenager. concerned about our child's safety. ford needs to issue a recall!. *tr
The wrench light comes on and the car loses its acceleration completely. as i pull over the side of the road and brake, the car will start shaking. the only way to fix it is to turn the car off and back on again. the wrench light will disappear after that and it'll start driving normally again. first time this happened i was on the interstate with my three year old in the car with me. one unhappy momma!!!! the code it read p2111 which i have been told it is a defect in the throttle body. hope they are right. *tr
I have a 2010 ford fusion se 2.5 and my check engine light came on along with a wrench light and my car went in to "limp mode" and my car lost power as i was turning left with traffic coming right at me, i was barely able to make it across the road without being hit!
I was driving my 2010 ford fusion on highway 31, it was very cloudy and hard rain was coming down fast. i reached 40 miles an hour after almost pushing my foot so hard on the peddle. all the sudden the car started losing power, slowly going down. wrench light came on, vehicle started shaking, and right at the best time i hit the brake and the car turned off, it would not turn back on. i had to have my vehicle towed to the ford dealership. my vehicle has been in the shop a total of 4 times and this problem is still not fixed, i am so uneasy when driving my car, hoping it will not turn off and leave me stranded. i am very scared to drive my vehicle, it is the only way of transportation for me. i am very upset about everything and it still is not fixed. terrible vehicle, terrible service from the ford service people. totally devastated that i make a car payment on my vehicle which is covered under warranty and i am in harm. *tr
After stopping at bank, car went into creep mode after less than a block. restarted and drove home. nine days later the same thing occurred. drove to mechanic next day ok. needs throttle body for $440.00. ford apparently not willing to fix although they've had this problem for years. replaced ignition coil a few weeks earlier for $330.00. same mo with ford. *tr
While driving down the road the rpm, speedo, temp gauges quit reading. the chimes and warnings all went off and lighted up and stay on. all of the warning lights flashed car never lost power but lost all working gauges 4 ways flashed, air bag for passenger side flashed. after turning car off and letting it sit over night started it up drove 5 miles down the road and it started with the chimes and all dash light warnings came back up showing 0 miles and flashing all different warning flashed in the warning display. i did video it on my phone so i could show the ford garage. *tr
Driving along on a local road (35 mph) the car suddenly lost most of it's power and started shaking. i was able to coast to a gas station and get a tow to my dealership...they tell me it's the throttle control and will cost about $500. going online to find out more information about this i see there are several thousand complaints about the same issue in this model. the severity of this type of breakdown (some people were on the highway) and with no warning whatsoever makes this a very important issue to be dealt with. i was lucky, but am still out $500. *tr
While driving the car loses power wrench light comes on and the car will not go. it will die as u coast over to the side of the road hoping the whole time the person behind you is not going to rearend you. this was very dangerous. i took it to my local ford dealership and was advised that the throttle actuator control was struck open they could try cleaning it and reset codes or i could purchase a new throttle control. the technician advised me that cleaning them using fixes the problem and thr throttle control part would be on back order and did not know when they could get it. i asked what if it doesnt fix the problem how much money am i out and then have to buy a throttle control. i feel this is a problem ford should be fixing when i can google it and there is a known problem. *tr
Earlier this month, i started my car [ford fusion 2010 se] after having it parked [never having this situation before] my car started vibrating after i turned the car on and barely driving it. i placed the car in park and popped my hood and looked at the engine, the entire thing was vibrating so i turned the car off for a few minutes and restarted, the problem was then gone and i thought hmm.. maybe its just a minor issue. this same thing happened again a few days after and then a few times within the same week up until now. so i'll be driving and the car would just slow down and my engine would be vibrating. i took my car to the shop [barely making it there] i went to "broad & james auto care located at 3288 e broad st columbus, oh 43213" after having a diagnostics done i was advised that i had a throttle body failure and they contacted ford krieger in columbus oh and was advised that the parts are on back order and that there are no specific date of receipt. upon research i've found out that this is an ongoing issue for this vehicle. now my car can't be driven at all. *tr
Like many others, experienced throttle body failure at highway speed. narrowly avoided accident as i maneuvered vehicle off highway. part is on national back order with no estimate on availability. numerous emails to ford with no response. *tr
2010 ford fusion: going down the freeway at 70 and then all of a sudden started losing power, no acceleration and down to 55 at which time i was able to get to the side of the road before it died. i let it sit a couple of minutes and tried to start it - started fine. the ford garage put it on the diagnostic machine but i was told because the check engine light did not come on there was no memory to show what may have happened. it ran fine for about two weeks and then the same thing happened. took it back to ford - but was told again - nothing they could do because the diagnostic does not show what the problem is. after my own research on the web i have found that this is probably a problem with the throttle body assembly and that ford knows about - but my local garage does not want to fix it without knowing for sure that is the problem. i feel very unsafe in this vehicle - maybe the next time i will not be able to get off the freeway/road before it completely stalls. *tr
I started to pull into an intersection after getting the green light and the car suddenly lost acceleration. i let off the gas and tried again and the car vibrated a little and rolled to a stop in the middle of the intersection. i put it in park and turned it off and back on and it started and pulled away another 50 feet before it happened again. i was able to coast out of the way of traffic. it was towed to a ford dealer and they replaced the throttle body the next day. after leaving the shop it had one jolt during acceleration but no further issue that day. the following morning i tried to start the car and it had no electrical power at all. they still don?t know what the issue is. *tr
The first incident happened when pulling away from a stop light. when i pressed the accelerator there was no response yet the car was running and in gear. the wrench symbol was on the dash. i cut the car off and restarted. the problem was gone. later that day i was driving on the interstate at 65 mph and the car just cut off. i pulled over, turned off the ignition and restarted and everything was again fine. later it happened again while pulling away from a stop light. i shut the engine off mad restarted. this again worked but the engine light stayed on. *tr
The vehicle is equipped with electric power-assisted steering (epas) that constantly fails while operating the vehicle at any speed. it is a safety concern due to the fact that when the power steering fails, it is hard to steer and control the vehicle. several blogs are discussing this issue regarding the same type vehicle.
My 2010 ford fusion is having the same problem as numerous others...the throttle body. .....mechanics are telling me it will cost me about 600 $ to repair. ....this is an ongoing scam in part by ford.... im sure they know about this....i promise you i will trade this car in ford a honda accord....atleast they run honestly.. *tr
Vehicle stalled out at an intersection, check engine light and other dash indicators came on. roadside assistance was contacted and the vehicle towed to our local dealership. dealership advised this morning that the necessary part, an electronic throttle body, is on back-order nationwide and did not expect to have the part available for installation until the week of 7/8 at the earliest and that it was not covered under the warranty, thus costing approximately $500.00. a quick google search indicates that nhtsa has launched a probe into this issue. *tr .
I was driving on a residential street and got a flat tire. at the same time i received an error about the power steering and to service the advancetrac system. i thought everything was related to the flat tire. i got the tire replaced and the tire pressure error cleared but i still have no power steering. iwas told that the two issues were not related and that the power steering is completely separate. i see many many many complaints regarding this same problem with 2010-2011 ford fusions. there needs to be a recall asap. nothing broke on my car and the fluids are fine so there is no reason for this error and for the power steering to stop working. *tr
I was driving in heavy city traffic at approximately 55 miles per hour, when the car suddenly lost all power. the engine felt "disconnected" from the transmission. i could push the gas pedal all i wanted, but there was no response from the engine. the car continued to roll under it's own momentum, but because of the sudden loss of power, i was very nearly rear-ended by the car behind me. i was in the left lane, and because i was coasting down to a stop quickly, my only choice was to pull into the center turn lane of the 5-lane road. traffic continued to speed past me as i stopped in the center lane. as i stopped, the engine ran incredibly roughly. it was stumbling and missing like it wasn't getting enough air. there was a yellow wrench icon on my dashboard, but no "check engine light". i shut down, waited a minute, and refired the car. the car ran perfectly smoothly after that. i did some checking, and it appears to be a throttle body problem. it appears to be very widespread on 2010 and 2011 ford's. please make them recall this. it's a huge safety concern. i'm lucky it was just me in the car, and i knew what to do. what if my wife and baby were in the car, and she wasn't as lucky? what if the guy behind me wasn't as quick on his brakes?? *tr
Like many others, i'm experiencing increasingly frequent acceleration failures (no acceleration with visual cue as well as acceleration surges) consistent with (and identified by dealer as) a malfunctioning etb. additionally, it seems that the throttle body may be affected by both proximity and stress sensors, as the failures (and generally fairly dramatic drops in speed) tend to occur most frequently at high speeds in heavy traffic. per ford's response to the safety investigation (inrl-pe13003-57050p), the manufacturer submits that the resulting fmem mode (always the most severe of "good luck with that" in my vehicle's case) allows for safe maneuvering. while this may be true on the test courses in dearborn, i'd gladly volunteer my vehicle to allow my neighbors to re-evaluate this claim in actual lansing traffic. *tt
Multiple times engine just would die and restart after pulling over to side of road and restarting. i just chucked it up to bad gas as we have had a slew of reports on this in my area. on wed june 12th while on the interstate at 70mph in busy traffic i in the middle of 3 lanes it decides to again loose accelerator pedal and idle...no where to go cars zooming up on me and honking and slammin on there brakes!. i pull over finally and turn key off and restarts easily. upon gettin off interstate it continues to stall at will. pulled into autozone and have it checked for error code and said was faulty throttle body. upon looking up on line i was amazed that this is so common with the motor trends car or the year in 2010! and still no recall from ford! i feel this is as big safety issue! what if this happens into a merge situation? or turnin into high speed traffic???? please help. *tr
Experienced loss of power (engine missing). replacement cost of ignition coil $330.00. one month later throttle body needs replacing for $440.00. these are apparently both common problems with ford. *tr
I bought a 2010 ford fusion, 4 months ago in march, 2 months after purchase the car began shutting off while driving, the problem was only happening every once in a while, but has progressed more and more to the point that i was unable to drive at all. i took the car to the dealership, who sent it to be serviced. then i find out that it is the throttle body and would cost me 600 dollars to get repaired and that it is not covered under warranty. i liked the fusion until i began having these issues, but i fear for the life myself and my kids in this vehicle and don't think that i should be having these problems right after the purchase of a new vehicle. *tr
My wife was driving home from work yesterday evening at highway speed (65mph) when the car stalled and wrench icon came on. could not accelerate but thankfully able to coast across two lanes on a busy highway at rush hour to get to shoulder! car was jerking as it came to a stop. turned the engine off, waited a few minutes, turned engine back on and car was ok again. unfortunately this wasn't the first time; there have been at least 5 other instances. first time was approx 9 months ago (before warranty was up). brought the car to dealer, they plugged it into their computer and got no error codes so "no problem" detected. now warranty is up i wonder how much this is gonna cost!! furthermore, the car battery went dead couple of weeks ago; that's only 3 and 1/2 years old. seems odd. *tr
Vehicle stalled in motion. it happened several times, without any warning or any sign of malfunction.
My 2010 ford fusion sel was in the ford service department for two weeks for stalling on me on a major highway recently. i felt the car suddenly lose power and was able to limp over to the shoulder with tractor trailers and early morning traffic whizzing past. i turned off the ignition, waited a few minutes, and started the car up again. i drove it the rest of the way to work & called the service department & was able to drop it off, even though i didn't feel comfortable driving the vehicle. i went online & found numerous instances of this on the ford fusion forum and found case after case, nationwide, of the throttle body & assembly issue being the problem. the service department told me that the replacement part was on back order as there had been a "rash of incidents." i asked why there hasn't been a recall & they said that it has to "rise to a certain level." really? this has obviously been going on for some time--does someone have to die? i contacted ford customer service and the part was finally replaced. i still don't feel safe in the vehicle, and i know that there are many others out there who don't even realize that this is happening. *tr
Driving approximately 35 mph while changing lanes and car lost power; wrench indicator did appear. third instance of this happening - first two incidents occurred in first year of owning vehicle; wrench indicator did not appear in these occurrences. vehicle currently being serviced for this problem as well as recurring lag in acceleration. this vehicle has also been serviced in the past for the aforementioned issues as well as: jerk and clunk when reversing, unexpected rev in rpms, and slipping when gears change. this is a fusion with the 6f35 automatic transmission. as usual, dealer has said if the code doesn't register or if they can't recreate the issue when out for a test drive then they will have to note it as no problem found. *tr
Every time engine starts, ford fusion dash displays two (2) fault codes: cross traffic system fault, and check rear park aid. both fault alerts clear after pressing controls on the steering wheel. however, both, the rear park aid, and the cross traffic system stopped working. each provides unique audible buzzing alerts when auto is in reverse to warn of an impending crash/contact with a person or object. two safety system features that no longer work. *tr
The first incident occurred when i was crossing a busy intersection and the vehicle lost power. i had to drive onto the median to avoid traffic, turn my car off and back on, and then it ran like nothing happened for a couple of weeks. the second incident, same thing, i was driving along and the car completely lost power and i had to pull off of road and restart the vehicle. each time, the wrench light flashed on and the car shuttered as i came to a complete stop. after the fourth time, same scenario, the check engine light popped on and hasn't disappeared. it has now happened at least once a day for the past 3 days with no luck getting it into a mechanic for another week. after researching, i discovered that it is probably the throttle body and is a very common and dangerous problem in ford fusions. i am disgusted and disappointed that there are so many complaints and nothing being done. the part needs recalled! this is my second 2010 ford fusion after praising my first one for saving my life in a head on collision. however, after being terrified for stalling out of no where and possibly being in another life threatening accident, i am tempted to never buy ford again. *tr
My ford fusion displayed a wrench icon on the dash and lost power on the garden state parkway. there was no shoulder for me to pull over to, and i had to coast until there was a patch of dirt to pull into. terrifying to say the least. took it to our local ford dealership (where it is now), and we were told there is a backorder of 6800 throttle bodies, meaning we would have to rent a vehicle until ours was repaired. ford should be paying for this rental car. i have researched this problem, and it appears to be rampant. this should be a recall and repaired at ford's cost. *tr
I was on the freeway when the 2010 ford fusion lost power, began to shudder and the wrench light illuminated on the instrument cluster. luckily i was able to get to the side of the road before the vehicle died. i had the vehicle towed to a ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a bad throttle body. after doing some very basic research on the internet i found that this is a huge problem and it isn't be covered under a recall or the powertrain warranty. i think that ford should be, at least, helping consumers cover the cost of this replacement. *tr
this situation first came to my attention about 2 months ago pulling out of my driveway. the car stalled and was unable to press the gas and then sputtered out and shook violently with the check wrench showing. i turned the car off and then started the car and drove off. i was very concerned when this happened and called the ford dealership, they stated that it is most likely a throttle body or maybe it was just a bad batch of gas. they stated not to get it check until it happens again, so over this weekend at all times i'm heading out to my friends camp ground 80 miles away from where i live. while driving on the highway the wrench went on and i could not press the accelerator at 70mph. i pulled over to the shoulder and turned it off as it sputtered again. it started up and i was already 60 miles into the trip so i went on and 10 miles more down the road it stalled again at 60mph. i finally was able to get off at the exit and it stalled about another 15 miles on a country road going about 50mph with now where to pull over and at the bottom of a hill. if a car would of been following me, it most likely would of smashed into my rear end with them not being able to stop in time. . i had to get the car towed 80miles to a dealer ship but was going to change out the part myself but all the ford parts place are out of the throttle body and they have cars that have been waiting on throttle bodies for weeks. i know it was a throttle body because of the complaints all over the internet with the 2010 fusion and also the code that the computer read off that i borrowed form autozone. this is now going to sit at the dealership for weeks and they are to charge me about 500 dollars for a car part that has only 28000 miles on it and serious problems with malfunctoning throttle body replacements do to electrical or whatever lemon part. *tr
Traveling approximately 70-75 mph on us highway vehicle lost power and entered into a limited power "limp home" mode, dropping engine to idle speed and causing a wrench light to activate on the dash and activation of "check engine" light. vehicle losing power nearly resulted in motor vehicle collision with other vehicles. after moving to shoulder of roadway and shutting off vehicle and turning it back on the problem corrected for approximately 2 miles where issue occurred again, this time at speeds approximately 60 mph. after shutting off and powering back on vehicle the problem again corrected for less than a mile. vehicle continued same problem after shutdown another 8 times within 5 miles. only roadside correction to issue was to remove negative battery cable to reset computer. after completing this task vehicle would run normally for approximately 10 miles where issue would return. vehicle was taken to shop where a diagnostic computer showed codes of p2112 and p2111, throttle actuator stuck open and throttle actuator stuck closed. required repair appears to be complete removal and replacement of electronic throttle body assembly. *tr
Just purchased the vehicle used on april 15, 2013. i haven't even made the first payment. i get off work at 11:15 p.m. and go to get in the car and it won't start. thank goodness for some co-workers that were hanging out. they try to jump it but it wasn't the battery. i am a single mom with no family around and i was extremely stressed at that point. they messed with it for a bit and it happened to be the solenoid (spelling) or starter. i got home and tried to crank it this morning and again it wouldn't start. i am in complete panic as this is my only car and i have to work. i'm new to the area and have no friends or family so i am really hoping since i had to have it towed back to dealer that it is covered and they get it fixed today. this is horrible. i should have stuck with my toyota but i will say that i have enjoyed the car so far. just hope nothing more is wrong with it because i can not afford any of this. *tr
I pulled out of a parking lot on a highway and the car stalled and gave out in oncoming traffic. the next day, i took the car to the local dealership where i purchased the vehicle, lookout ford. i was told by their maintenance tech that the electronic throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced as soon as possible. this fix came with a bill of over $450.00. i questioned as to why this was not recalled or covered under warranty and they had no answer for me. *tr
1.was in slow lane, vehicle slowed down suddenly. turned off engine and started it again 2. may 1? was on residential street ( 30 mph. vehicle slowed down suddenly and then started shaking. turned off engine and started it again 3.may 15 was driving 55 mph on busy curvy street in fast lane. wrench light came on and slowed suddenly, turned on flashers. .moved to the extreme right hand side. nearly got hit by speeding car in the right lane as there was a narrow shoulder. 4. may 30, my husband was driving in the slow lane of freeway. wrench light came on, i put on the flashers, and car slowed suddenly. he was able to get out of traffic. turned off engine and turned it back on again 5. june 24, 2013. my husband was driving 65 in the fast lane of busy hwy 99. wrench light came on, and vehicle suddenly slowed down. i put on flashers. he maneuvered to the slow lane, where speeding semi truck honked at us and nearly hit us. 6 june 28,2013 i was driving on a residential street at 35 mph when wrench came on, and vehicle i suddenly slowed down and i moved to the side of the street., turned off the engine, and restarted the car. why is all the information about the cause of the error code (wrench) erased when car is turned off?????? *tr
My wife was accelerating through an intersection and car stalled. luckily an oncoming vehicle was able to swerve out of way and my wife was able to steer the car to the shoulder. it would not restart and i came and switched cars with her. after 5 minutes it started and i was able to drive home after 4-5 more stalls on my 2 mile ride home. stalled on way to dealer on monday and they advised needed to replace a throttle body at a cost of over $500. only had car for 35 mths but since over miles the warranty wouldn't cover it. after checking with other mechanics was able to see about 32 other incidents that required same repair on 2010 fusion 2.5l engine. but when spoke with a ford area mgr they claimed would do nothing and there is no issues with this car or part? *tr
The driver's side door would not unlock from the outside. i would have to enter the car and climb over to the driver's side to unlock the car. it was an intermittent problem at first and then the latch broke and i had to take my car in for repair. the first repair was under warranty, but the door latch started acting up again. it would not unlock again, intermittently. then about two weeks ago, the driver's side door would not lock. if i went shopping, i immediately had to take my purchased items home. i could not lock anything in the car. i took it to montrose ford on 05/01/2015 and they charged me $482.85 to replace the latch and cable. *tr
I was driving my 2010 ford fusion on the interstate, at approximately 70 miles per hour, when i started feeling it "surge". it was in cruise control at the time, and it felt like it was surging up a couple of mph over the set point, and then falling back a couple of mph below the set point. it was like the cruise was hunting for the set speed. suddenly, there was a lurch and i lost all power from the engine. cruise disconnected and i started coasting down rapidly. there was very nearly a rear-end collision with the guy behind me as i was losing speed so quickly. there was a yellow wrench icon lit on my dashboard, but no check engine light. i managed to cost over to the right shoulder. when i stopped and put it in park, the engine ran extremely roughly. it stumbled and missed like it wasn't getting any air. i shut the engine off, waited a minute, refired it, and it ran perfectly. we continued our trip and had it looked at when we got back. or local ford dealer said "there are no stored codes, it didn't do it for us, and there isn't anything wrong." this has happened several times to me and every time the dealer says the same thing. 2 minutes worth of googling shows that there seems to be a massive problem with the throttle bodies that ford has on these cars. we need a recall! we could have been injured or killed in a wreck on the interstate when this happened. *tr
Vehicle cut off after it reached 50 mph and would start back after several minutes off. *tr
