We have classified the 258 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Electric steering start on hwy acting up phone ford and they says no recall on them but i know owners that have had the same problem phone ford and they said nothing they can do but the one year nwer is recall yet the the i have has the same parts see the link for my 2010 fusion https://ca.search.yahoo.com/search?p=2010+ford+fusion+steering+problems&fr=yfp-t&fp=1&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=utf-8
I was driving my 2010 ford fushion in traffic when all of a sudden the steering went out and it showed power steering assist had went out i couldn't steer the car was lucky i was no badly hurt in this car i barely got it turn to get myself out of traffic the vechile was useless and i was going the speed limit at the time i could have gotten killed in this car have torn liament in my left hand from trying to steer car to safely get myself out of traffic and i'm a nurse so i need my hands both of them to perform my job
In motion on highway with cruise control car dashboard shows 'stop safely now' loose acceleration. turn car off then back on and can drive. check engine light on. told vacuum pump creating issue. replaced and car okay. while in motion on highway during acceleration 'stop safely now' entire car shuts down while driving. loss of brakes, steering, acceleration. get car towed back to shop and told acid leak degraded wire harness. but also told they can't ensure the car will be fixed from repairing. how does a battery leak so bad without any cracks. no shop can confirm the acid leak is causing the brake issue. possible abs module, electronic control, o2 sensor replacement too.
My 2010 ford fusion had the service power steering light come on while driving down the highway, and then the power steering went out and the service advancetrac came on. i called the dealership and even though my car has two open recalls for airbags and fuel tank, along with an extended one on my throttle body, they can't get my car in until next month. i've tried disconnecting the battery terminals, and replaced the battery in hopes that it would reset the computer as the car does not have a power steering pump and is controlled by a computer chip.
Bought used ford fusion on 9/16/19 from fred bean cadillac- buick in doyalstown pa. after about driving it for 950 miles on 10/04/19 an yellow wrench icon appeared on the dash board and the car seemed to lose power. the car was parked and the car was turned off, once the car was restarted the wrench icon disappeared. made appointment with dealer where the car was purchased from at 7:30am on 10/05/19 to have the car looked at. was told no error code was found, but later that same day while driving home around 2:00pm the wrench icon reappeared and the loss of power happened turning off from rt 332 (yardley-newton rd speed 55mph) on to stony hill rd speed 40mph. once i go to a red light at stony hill and yardley langhorne rd intersection i turned car off, then restarted car and wrench icon disappeared.
We had driven to a football game, when we returned to the car it would not start. all the lights worked, it turned over perfectly every time, but it would not start. had it towed to the mechanic in the morning and it started for them. however, after multiple test they were able to get it to stop starting. checked the codes and it said o2 sensor. replaced o2 sensor. car died on my way home from the mechanic while pulling out onto the highway from a stop sign where vehicles are traveling 60mph with my two small children in the car. terrifying! i barely chugged across the lanes and got the nose of my car on the shoulder. i turned the car off and after a few tries it restarted. when i got home, i took the battery cables off the battery for the weekend as i read that could help the faulty computer issue. so far, i have not experienced this issue again. a couple of weeks before this, i noticed that at speeds of 50 mph the car felt like it was speeding up and slowing down really fast like pulsing.
Dashboard warning lights suddenly came on, temperature gage went to hot and car suddenly shut off while moving
I was driving 70 mph down the highway and my car just quit running. a few warning lights came on and i pulled over to the shoulder of the road. i was able to restart the car and merged onto the highway; the car quickly died again. i had the car towed home and was unable to start the car again since the anti-theft lock light was on. i had the car towed to a dealership and i am waiting to hear back from them.
My 2010 ford fusion power steering failed. i started my car and received an error message that the electric steering system had a fault.
Power stearing module has given out.
Power sterring some times when starting ,have to turn off them restart to make it work.windshiele wipers intermitten stopsworking, blind spot light, cross traffic, rear parking aid light comes on cant turn off all on starting off.
On march 7th, 2019 at 0600 hours, an error code popped up on the dash showing a power steering assist fault. car was stationary at this time at homeowners driveway. steering wheel was difficult to turn as there was no power to the steering. according to to nhtsa documentation, numerous complaints on this same related issue prompted recalls on other models, however 2010 ford fusion, which experienced same problem was omitted from original recall. further research revealed numerous complaints regarding same or similar issue prompting another investigation. unknown what the second results yielded.
Electronic power steering fault. the electronic power steering failed on me multiple times in the past week. it will be working fine then out of nowhere stop working and makes the car really hard to steer. its happened when stationary and in motion when pulling in or out of the driveway. needs to be recalled and fixed. i have stopped driving the car until it gets recalled and fixed for the safety of myself and others.
Driving down the road and the service power steering lightcame on out of no where and my steering stopped working
I don't seem to understand how this issue has not been an official recall yet directed by the nhtsa. out of 3806 (as of dec 20 2018) there are 1024 strictly related to steering. i as well as so many other ford owners have fallen victim to the failing of the electronic power steering assist. went out to go to work last night and power steering assist fault" continues to display, restarting vehicle does not seem to fix as others have stated. am glad this did not occur while driving as has happened in other reports. i am seriously questioning as others have if it is going to take an accident that kills someone before this investigation is taken seriously. from what i can see its somethings that has been well known since this time last year, yet people continue to have it fail, and nothing is done on fords part. they just keep collecting money from people that have no other option than to have them fix it. once the dealer opens i am going to be having to get the car towed to the dealer to have issue resolved, and i'm sure be quoted the $1,500-1,800 that others have been quoted, as well as be told "we haven't heard anything about this" until i mention all the reports, much like my door handle that broke, and wasn't until i talked to a different customer support agent that it actually was well known. what i'm seeing is issues which are very common, affecting hundreds to thousands of owners, but ford continues to says its not their problem, it hasn't been recalled so we must pay to get it fixed and be on our way. honestly thinking as others that even as happy as i have been in the past with ford, it will probably not be my vehicle of choice come time to buy a new car as recently issues that should be getting addressed are consistently not being addressed.
My car had "power steering assist fault" come up on the dashboard after i started it in a parking lot and the lack of power steering made the car unable to drive safely. this warning had come on several times over the past few months, but the owner's manual for the ford fusion 2010 says to turn off the car for 10 seconds and restart if this happens (pgs 213-15). this had solved the problem the past few times. the message will not go away now even after restarting the car. i have seen that there have been many problems with ford's eps system, especially since 2011-2013 models have been recalled. i was fortunate that it happened in a parking lot, but wanted to report the incident.
I am having problems with several things. air bag was recalled so i took it to the ford dealership and they replaced it but the light won't go off, after getting my car back from the dealership the radio/speaker and seat warmers went out, soon after the heat/ac went out, the rear driver side tail light goes out very often, plate lights don't work, visor lights don't work. they're are too many issues that started at the same time, so i think it must be electrical. thanks
After getting off of the interstate and heading to dinner with my girlfriend, everything was okay and running smooth. while heading back home, the "service advanctrac" and "service power steering" lights come on unexpectedly. so, i pull over, turn off the car and turn it back on. this solved nothing, furthermore it made the issue even worse. simply search "2010 ford fusion" on google and you'll see many stories just like mine in a matter of a few scrolls. the worst part of this whole thing isn't even the hundreds and hundreds of dollars that must be put into the repair. if my power steering would have went out while i was on the interstate, i would not be here today to tell my story. so, what's it worth to you, ford? is my life worth the $1,500 to you or will you let this continue to happen until a life is taken?... but that question might unfortunately be too late.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags). the manufacturer advised the contact not to drive the vehicle due to the recall. the contact stated that the part was available, but the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was not driven for six months and became totally inoperable. the contact stated that the brakes have rusted out, the accelerator and brake pedals go down to the floorboard when depressed, and there was an abnormal oil odor coming from inside and outside the vehicle. the contact called elder ford (9560 n florida ave, tampa, fl 33612, (813) 498-0779), but no assistance was provided. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 98,196.
After two day something is killing the battery.
My airbag has not been repaired because ford does not have the part. my steering went out while i was in motion. not a recall for my vin#
Battery died due to sitting for a long period of time. even though car was started numerous times during the week. tires lost air twice due to sitting and told not to drive the vehicle.
Tamara recall power steering just went off in the middle of me driving on the highway . no warnings .
Loss power steering in my 2010 ford fusion on my way to work. assit fault came on. this is freaking ridiculous that ford is not stepping up and taking care this. how can they be so careless. other issues include front seat recliner driver side. electrical issues. engine issues. disappointed my first car i played off. nothing to show for it.
This vehicle has been sitting for over a month due to my limited income as a veteran i can not afford to repair this issue at an estimate cost of $1600. this issue is not due to my negligence.power steering assist failure is the issue. i was driving it to work in dallas,nc when i experienced the steering wheel locked as i made a right turn into a parking space. after i struggled to get it into the parking space i also struggle to drive it home as well.once i got the vehicle home i called tindol ford in gastonia,nc regarding my concern i was informed that i need to have it diagnosed at my expense of $99. then if it is the epas (electric power assist system) repair estimate cost can be about $1600. this vehicle specifically had a recall before not sure but i think it was for airbag and or seatbelt. well since then i borrowed a temporary vehicle from family member due to repair cost being expensive. this ford fusion has a title lien through bridgecrest, in whom i finance with. vehicle is almost paid in full.this issue however is not any of negligence but more so a manufacturer issue. the epas consist of a trw component which consist of everything to this failure such as the hydraulic the belt drive the drive rack the coder interface etc. i had a local mechanic look at it and the observation made was it's a power steering issue that only manufacturer can correct due to the complexity. the trw is a non serviceable unit. enclosing i ask that you please contact the manufacturer and look into the facts of this matter which is fault of the manufacturer. i thank you in advance for your time and help with this matter.
April 30, 2018 after driving for 3 hours on the highway at appr. 75 to 80 mph the dash lights went haywire, flickering and then the service advancetrac warning came d. i was able to drive it to my exit and drive slowly. i could stop and go very slow. after a mile or 2 the batter light and all the lights came on and the brake light warning light came on. i could feel the car loosing power so i pulled over. at this time it was also chiming that the cross fault system was not available. after turning the car off, it would not start, the radio would play, lights would work and hazards would work .the steering was hard to turn the car was towed to a mechanic shop and i am awaiting a diagnosis. earlier on april 16, i received a letter from ford stating they would no longer host the vehicle health report system.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving 30 mph, the power steering failed and all the indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. the vehicle was taken to auto zone where it was diagnosed with an electrical failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer advised that the vehicle be taken to the dealer. the failure mileage was unknown.
I currently have owned my 2010 ford fusion for about a year now. i love my car but i have one problem. today february 3rd, 2018 my driver side power seat has stopped moving forward or backwards. i had brought my seat all the way back while cleaning my car and now that i am going to drive i went to bring my seat forward again and it will no longer move. i can barely touch the pedal and it is my only way of transportation. this is a safety hazard. i went to have it checked out but no ford dealer ships would take me to diagnose the problem so i had to go to a different mechanic. i was informed that the motor was bad and in order to fix it at a reasonable price they would have to go to a junk yard and find an other 2010 ford fusion with the same exact seat to take the motor out of that seat and put it in my car. i thought this was crazy im going to pay 500$ for them to put an old part in my car. so i then called westborough ford in massachusetts to ask them if they can get me the motor and what the cost was. they then continued to tell me that you guys no longer sell the motors seperatly and if i wanted the motor i would have to spend a thousand dollars on a whole new freaking track and motor assembly for my car and would not just get me that one motor that is bad. i am beyond frusterated because the motor should not be just crapping the bed if once its set, its set. its not one of those things that is adjusted every single day. i am very disapointed in ford and would like the problem fixed asap.
Driver's side seat heater malfunctioned causing seat lining material to ignite and burn hole in seat leather and underlying material. also scorched driver's coat and produced acrid smoke. this happened while driving on city street. driver was wearing heavy winter coat and so did not feel the heat immediately.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving 15 mph and making a left turn, the power steering seized and the power steering, advance track, and tire pressure indicators illuminated. the contact was able to forcefully pull the vehicle over and called for assistance. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
13n03 electronic throttle body extended coverage i import my vehicle to canada on 23/nov/2017 from usa, and when i went to inspection for importing process they give me report that i have the issue of 13n03, so please advice, other wise i have my car not insured and not passed the inspection with other bigger issue 16s26 please advice what the error of the car, ford canada don't have any answer for there customer, and dealers don't help us with this case.
I had a new battery placed and the oil changed with my local mechanic. i drove 3.5 miles home and, upon turning into my neighborhood, a red "stop safely now" alert flashed. there was no traffic so i proceeded to my home. approximately 0.2 miles later the car lost acceleration, continuing at 10mph (even with the gas pedal to the floor) before losing all acceleration. i turned the car off and back on. the alarm had cleared. i restarted the car and drove 300 feet when the alarm recurred. i was 50 feet from my driveway so i restarted the car, cleared the alarm and went 15 feet before it recurred, with no ability to move in drive or reverse. i restarted the car a third time and the alarm had cleared again. i was pulling up my driveway at a significant incline when it recurred. i was able to make it up my driveway and park. i called my mechanic and, after a quick on-line search, he informed me there was ford technical service bulletin 12-5-14 on this specific issue. this was an extraordinarily dangerous situation. this incident occurred without warning. in other circumstances-my wife or children in the car, driving on the highway, driving in rapidly moving traffic- my family's well-being would have been placed at great risk. ford should not be allowed to jeopardize the safety of my family for a problem they are clearly aware of and are not addressing, i assume to minimize financial losses. what is being done to hold ford accountable for ensuring the safety of their customers and other drivers on the road who are also placed at risk by this design flaw ford acknowledges?
The drivers side inside handle won't open car door
I have a 2010 ford fusion with less than 80k miles on it. the power steering went out on this vehicle while my wife was driving with our 3 year old in the backseat. she was barely able to get it off the road, as well as return the vehicle home. this is extremely dangerous! the only warning light that turned on was the service power steering message and the service advancetrak message. i took the vehicle to my mechanic they were able to see trouble codes, and cleared them. the drove the vehicle about 15 miles and were not able to replicate the problem. we picked up the vehicle 7/11/17 and drove 15 miles home and left for the night. 7/12/15 the morning of, my wife proceeded to drive the vehicle 3 miles and sure enough same problem happened to her while driving. for the life of me i cannot understand this issue. why is there a recall for the 2011 vehicles but not for 2010, which from my understanding is what sparked the entire recall period. ford needs to remedy this issue, or provide a fix for the vehicle.
Takata recall. the recall date for the airbag recall was june 2016 and it has now been nearly a year and ford still has "no remedy" for this recall. this is extremely dangerous in the case of an accident. in addition, i was not notified of this recall or the electronic throttle body issue that my car also has but now is past the "extended warranty" and they will not fix for free, despite me having made a complaint about it in the past. last week, i was on the freeway traveling at 70 mph, my car suddenly stopped accelerating and slowed down rapidly. i had been lucky no one was closely following behind me and i was in the right lane and quickly could pull over or i could have been hit from behind at a very fast speed because of the etb failing. i have never been notified of any of the safety issues that my car has. ford has failed to notify me and i feel that because they did not send me anything, even though they have my address and email, they put me at risk of an accident that could have led to serious injuries.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving 50 mph, the power steering failed without warning while exiting the highway. the dealer diagnosed that the power steering failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 96,400.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the power steering failed and the vehicle abruptly stalled. prior to the failure, the power steering warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was inoperable, but was not towed. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
My child was driving my ford 2010 fusion and it suddenly caught fire destroying the engine and surrounding components, everything inside the car was melted. fire destroyed the front of the inside of the car . there were no check engine lights or other warning signs displayed on the car dashboard. *tr
My fusion suddenly lost power while driving with engine oil light and battery light on. luckily there's no car on that road at that time, i stopped the car and turn off and on the car again, then everything was back to normal. but this could be very dangerous. i took my car to dealer and they could not recognize the problem since the engine light was not on when i brought it in. well, will try another dealer. i loved my first 2006 fusion so i bought this 2010 fusion, this problem and how ford handled it (making it a extended warranty instead of a recall) changed my mind, my next sedan will not be a ford, period.
I was with my kids in the car driving to a recreational league basketball game and my tire light indicator came on . i stopped at the gas station to put air in the front right driver side tire because that the one that looked like it needed air. after i completed that task the advancetrac indicator came on and then went off. i drove on the highway to the event and noticed that at times the turning was getting difficult. i got to the gym and turned into the lot without incident. i played my game came out and began to go home when before i could back out the "service power steering " message came across the dash. the car then became almost impossible to drive. i didn't want to take any chances with my kids in the car , so i called my wife to come get us and left the car. the next day i went for the vehicle but it took 1.5 hrs to get home which normally would be 25 minutes .i haven't drive the car since then and am highly upset that it seem as though this is a common problem for this vehicle and has caused injury and death . why was there not a recall for the power steering if its a known issue? *tr
I have been experiencing issues with my power steering assist in my vehicle. the steering wheel automatically locks while either trying to drive (stationary) and while driving (in motion) the vehicle. the ford company has not released a recall for this issue, however there is a class action lawsuit for this very issue with motorists owning the same make and model vehicle who are experiencing the electric power wheel assist issue. i have found other sites where motorists have explained the same issue of the steering wheel locking/not working during the time of someone driving, turning the wheel, or simply preparing to drive the vehicle. i am expressing my deep concern for national safety as many americans have purchased this vehicle and are driving on the roads! i pray this recall can occur before someone may experience a fatality leading to death. i have uploaded a picture of my very own vehicle experiencing the power steering assist fault.
Power steering. this is 7th time i taking my car to the dealership in the past 2 years, and 3 times this just past month. ive been told i new steering wheel has been put on and the same issue keeps coming back. i have never had any other problems with my car besides the [xxx] power steering failing. what is ford going to do about this.!!!!!!? or are they waiting for someone to die before they do something about it. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I just had to pay 1900. to have my 2010 ford fusion power steering fault assist repaired, although it appears the 2011-2012 models are included in the recall. the power steering goes out, and the car is then not able to be driven. if this happens when you are driving you lose complete control of the car. i have owned and driven fords for over 15 years (taurus and fusion) that i bought brand new, and i maintain my garage kept cars. my fusion has 73,000 miles so the power steering should not go out on my car at no fault of my own. this power steering fault should be covered under a recall before more accidents and occurrences happen endangering peoples safety. i drive with little children in my car regularly and i am thankful i was alone when my steering went out. please consider including this power steering fault assist problem in 2010 ford fusions to be a recall. it is dangerous and very costly to be fixed as i have learned. thanks for your consideration.
Door ajar light and sound comes on constantly while driving. also when parked and the car is locked it consistently sets off the car alarm. i can't lock my doors anymore. dealerships don't want to get involved in the expense or trouble of fixing. they lie and tell me it's fine. *tr
Car looses power and the check engine and transmition light comes on car while driving at low rpms while driving on city streets . had to pull over and shut off car and restart in order to drive home . had computer system scaned and a p2119 code comes up for throttle body . just had car in for a 15s34 recall purge valve assy and has been doing this since . cleared code and for a coupe of days its fine then it starts all over agin
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. when the down button was depressed on the front driver's side window, the window failed to roll down. the contact also stated that the front driver's side door failed to open from the inside. the contact had to exit the vehicle from the front passenger side door. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 99,000. the vin was unavailable.
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags). the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. on several occasions, while attempting to drive, the vehicle attempted to crank, but failed to start. the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the contact called beach ford at (757) 486-2717 (located at 2717 virginia beach blvd, virginia beach, va 23452) where it was confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 117,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.
Car stalled in parking lot. ford dealer said it was the throttle body, and that the replacement was covered under some type of extended warranty. however, i do not have an extended warranty on the car, so i was suspicious. they did charge for a fuel injection service. research online revealed that this is an ongoing problem with fords, and there has been no recall of the electronic throttle body. the car can stall at any speed, with potential loss of life. i would like to be part of any further legal action on this. ford should be held accountable.
My power steering went out in march of 2016. i had to pay out of pocket because there was not a recall on the 2010's just the 2011 and 2012's. well here it is, 2018 and my power steering went out again... i cant see myself paying another $1500 for something that is out of my control. seems as if it happens while the car is sitting. i can recall driving and a light came across my dash. i didn't know what the light meant and i didn't notice any change with my car until the next morning when i tried pulling out of my driveway. its extremely dangerous!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the speedometer did not function properly, the automatic door locks did not function, the digital odometer did not function properly, and the vehicle intermittently did not accelerate even when the accelerator pedal was depressed. in addition, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the speed sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
