Tl* the contact owns a 2006 ford fusion. the contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the idler pulley fractured. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 180,000.

When i was driving 55 mph, the car did a little jerk like it had missed. no lights came on and i drove to the nearest side road off the highway and stopped. i tried to go further but only made it about 100 yards because i lost all power including steering. my car was half in the road so i was thankful this was not a high traffic road. the engine light came on and there was a smell. it wasn't the smell of oil but was a fluid smell. the car would not turn over and had to be towed to the dealership. it came up as a misfire 3 and they told me that they had to replace the coil. this did not fix the problem and they said the 3 coil when it blew it took out the other coils as well as the 6 spark plugs and the pcm. this was a $2250 repair. i only have 68,000 on the car. after reading other tsb, some stated that if under 80,000 miles/8 years that it was covered under the manufacture warranty. i called ford and was told i missed the 8 year mark by exactly 30 days. there was nothing that i could do but hold on to my receipts in case there would ever be a recall. this is the only major issue i have had. i have never had any other engine issues with the car. i've only had 2 minor issues before this and they were the lumbar going out in the driver's seat ($300 repair that i did not replace) and 2 door handles breaking from the inside that were $160 to replace each. i did replace bc of the safety issue of not being able to get out of the car. after reading the tsb, i see that the pcm and coils are a recurring issue and i am thankful i was on a side road when it occurred... i am very worried that it may occur again and hope this issues will be or has been looked into for the safety of others. *tr

Cut stops running.. all different speeds ., any given time. almost had three different accidents. glad to be here.. still found out its very common problem since it took a week to get the back ordered part. throttle body. seems to be a serious problem. dangerous to say the least. *tr

The car went into "limp" mode for no reason. vehicle would not go faster then 20mph. this cold of caused an accident. took to local shop and was told a sensor in the electronic throttle body was bad and therefore could not read throttle position accurately, sending the car into "limp" mode. new throttle body cost $600. if this would of happened at highway speeds this would of been a serious safety issue due to not being able to control vehicle speed without any notice. *tr

Transmission problems. daughter was driving car and backing up from drive it popped and would not move in drive. it would reverse and drive slow at lower gear, but not drive in d. mechanic said gears are fine and not transmission , but confirmed may be sensor in transmission. from reading similar comlaints, it is widespread problem and a potential road hazard. recalls have been done on same make and model, but from 2007 - current. why isnt the 2006 covered? the auto mechanic has brought vehicle to 3 diff auto shops and problem is that it is a mazda engine with german parts in a ford car and not familiar with parts. ford dealer was contacted and also ford product complaint line. all they would say was there are no recalls for 2006 ford fusions. why??? the auto shops insist on replacing entire transmission to warranty their work and charge $2500+ when all is needed is a part for less $. *tr

My air has quit working for the second time in 2 yrs in my 2006 ford fusion. i took it to have it serviced the tech said that there was nothing he could do. that he had several other ford fusions with the same problem. he said that the a/c compressor won't turn on. the a/c evaporator discharge air temperature sensor may have went bad. i would list to add this to the recall list. thank you! *tr

Transmission would shift out of a gear, car would rev up to high, then transmission would shift violently back in jerking the car around feeling like you have been rear ended. the transmission will slam so hard into gear when trying to accelerate( i have had this experience accelerating at 45mph and at 65mph) engine light comes on stays on for a few days goes off problem comes back a few days later. only solution when this happens is to pull over and shut the car off. once car is turned back on the gear shifter (automatic) is very tight to put in reverse or drive. *tr

When driving car 25 miles per hour the car stops jerks decelerates the eventually kicks back up some times it does it with normal speed . which has almost caused several accidents when car suddenly decelerates stops in the flow of traffic then having to wait till it kicks back up or just try to pull off road to keep from getting hit very scary when driving on highway of in rush hour traffic! or putting on flashers at the last minute hoping not to get hit! *kb

2006 ford fusion se with 2.3l i-4 engine. 75,000 miles. two bolts on left engine mount fractured causing engine to fall into engine bay. engine fell on and is being supported by the drive shaft which is touching the frame of the vehicle. this caused the cv boot to rupture. car is unsafe to drive with such a failure. fortunately this happened in my driveway. had it happened only 10 minutes before, it would have occurred on i-20 in downtown atlanta at rush hour and would have likely caused an accident. called ford customer service and they took a record of the incident but were not helpful beyond that. i need a new engine mount, new cv boot, and everything under the engine to be realigned. *tr

Motor mounts: all three mounts have been replaced. 6 total. one has been replaced twice. one three times. electric door locks & window regulators: front driver and rear right passenger have failed. driver floor mat: slides. *tr

At less than 5000 miles my car would hesitate when going to accelerate. i have taken my car to the dealership at least 4 times for this issue. it is now in the shop again because when i would turn left something in the steering column was loose. *jb
