While driving on the highway schedule steering service came up on the dashboard. just after pulling over the power steering failed and i could not control the steering as it was suddenly extremely difficult to turn the steering wheel. this is an extremely dangerous situation which apparently both ford and the safety board are aware of. why on earth would the 2011 models be recalled for this identical problem, but not the 2010 models with the same part. my family could have been killed- would that have triggered a recall ?
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion hybrid. while driving 5 mph, the advance auto trac and power steering assist warning indicators illuminated. also, while making a right turn, the steering wheel seized. the contact attempted to steer the wheel, but it failed to steer properly. the contact turned the vehicle off and back on, placed the vehicle in reverse, and then drive; however, the steering wheel failed. aaa was contacted and towed the vehicle to heritage ford (2075 edsel ln nw, corydon, in 47112, (812) 738-3284) where it was diagnosed that the steering needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to call nhtsa to file a complaint. the failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

I was driving and my steering wheel became very stiff. about 30 minutes later there was a red alert on the dash stating service power steering. then about five minutes later another alert came on and it was yellow that said service advancetrac. after that happened i drove home and the next morning when i got in my vehicle to leave the steering wheel was completely locked. even though it is 2019 i understand the car has years on it but after only having it for three months from the dealership i am extremely upset.
Safety recall 15s14 - steering gear motor bolt failure. ford issued recall 15s14 which impacted my vehicle. the press release states: "customers located in non-corrosion states or provinces will be covered by extended warranty if they experience similar concerns. dealers will replace steering gear motor attachment bolts on customer vehicles with new bolts, seal them, and replace damaged steering gears at no cost to the customer." the ford motor company technical service bulletin to dealers states for sold vehicles "dealers are to remove the original steering gear motor bolts, install revised bolts, and apply sealant to specified areas of the steering gear. if any of the original steering gear motor bolts are broken, missing or break during removal, dealers will replace the steering gear assembly. this service must be performed on affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner." for new in-stock vehicles "dealers will apply either valugard rust inhibitor aerosol vg-101a or daubert nox rust 7703-w to specific locations on the steering gear. this procedure should only be performed on new in-stock vehicles because these vehicles have not had the potential to accumulate corrosion damage in the steering ...
I was driving to work and a warning "service power steering" and "service advance trac" came on and the vehicle was then extremely difficult to steer. i am glad i was not going around a high speed curve.
Loss of power steering while driving, barely able to keep control as it happened mid turn and had to steer away from curb as the steering wheel was mostly locked up. error codes including steering assist fault, advanced track fault, and hiii start fault appeared and steering wheel stayed locked up. attempted turning vehicle off and on but errors and steering wheel failure remain.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. while driving, the advancetrac and power steering assist warning indicators illuminated. also, the power steering malfunctioned. the vehicle was taken to wynne ford (1020 w mercury blvd, hampton, va 23666, (757) 838-3673) and the contact was informed that there was no recall for the power steering failure. the vehicle was driven home without being diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer stated that there was no recall and provided a case number. the failure mileage was 128,800.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion hybrid. while operating the vehicle and making a left turn, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. the contact was able to continue to drive. while making a right turn, the contact heard an abnormal noise and the failure recurred. the contact called team ford lincoln (located at 5445 drexel rd, las vegas, nv 89130, (702) 395-5100) and was informed to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 107,440. the vin was invalid. *tr*jb
Check power steering and advtrc lights come on steering wheel became stiff and car is undrive-able if this was to happen at highway speed you be in big trouble crash no question lucky i was pulling in to walmart when this happened but car is undriveable tell fix
