We have classified the 318 complaints from 2005 Ford Freestyle about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
When putting car in drive on warm days with the air on the car will lunge forward. i am used to this but my wife got in the car yesterday 5-29-2014 and almost hit a car in the parking lot. very dangerous !!! read that i am not the only one with this issue. i am the original owner of this car. *tr
This vehicle looses complete power while driving. runs sluggish and hesitates.. took it to the dealership for possible recall (throttle body) dealer says not the issue need to replace alternator, and transmission, etc.. called ford motor company customer service for assistance to see if this was a known issue. *tr
We own a ford freestyle 2005 the transmission has never been quite right, it failed over the weekend and the ford tech says transmissions are defective but their recommendation is to replace it at a cost of 6600 with the same type of defective transmission. i have done my research and have spoken to many people owners of the 2005 through 2007 ford freestyles who have had the same experiences. 75 i have found posted online they replaced their transmissions at cost from 5600 to 7800 only to have them fail again in a short time. ford should be forced to stand behind their product as we have owned fords for almost 30 years now and maintain our cars will due diligence this is a defective product. we have both owned ford taurus wagons which one had nearly 400000 miles on the clock when we sold it still running great! our ford also has had many occurrences of the throttle sticking under acceleration so much so that it would have to be shifted to neutral to pull over and restart it. *tr
Last weekend the transmission went out in our 2005 ford freestyle. the car had been driving fine with no indication that there was a problem. we were traveling at about 45 mph when we suddenly heard a loud clunking noise. immediately after the clunking noise we heard the sound of metal clanging around under the car and hitting the road...the front wheels began skidding and it felt as if the back of the car lifted of the road. at this point i felt as if i had no control over the vehicle. we were fortunate that no one was driving behind us, as it is very likely we would have been rear ended. i pulled the car to the side of the road and the oil light came on. i immediately turned the car off, got out and looked underneath and saw oil running out of the car onto the road. we then noticed the trail of mangled metal in the road. at this point i knew we were in big trouble. we had the car towed to a local garage and were told that the transmission went out. garage called on monday only to tell us that a used transmission for this car is very hard to find and that they were unable to find one locally...and further explained that replacing with a new transmission would cost $6000-$7000, maybe more since this transmission had been completely destroyed and we couldn't turn it in for a core. something in the transmission actually came apart causing the transmission to bind and literally tear itself apart. we bought this car used for $6,500 and have only owned it for 11 months. i am seeing that this is a pretty common problem with this car. not only can i not afford this repair, there is no way i am going to spend that kind of money on a transmission that is likely to fail just as this one did. so i am without a car with 4 children trying to figure out how i'm going to afford another one. this is obviously a defect with this car and ford should have done something to fix this. *tr
Bought my 2005 ford freestyle after 90000 mile transmission started acting up check transmission and engie lights came on after having it in the dealrship manytimes and spending thousands of dollar's fixing parts they come back back after third trip in ith same problem they tell me you have a cvt transmission and we would have to tear the transmission apart to repace the inter seals it would run 6000 more better if you get rid of it but problem is i still owe on it and they want to give 100.00 trade in.
On 04/10/2014 at 10:50am. i was driving on route 22 west bound. i was going 65 mph when the traction light came on as well the wrench light that is transmission light came flashing across dashboard "check transmission". the car went from 65mph to 25mph and i almost got killed by a tractor trailer that was behind me, because of sudden loss of power . the vehicle lost power and i could not travel more than 25 mph and the car was stuck in low gear and would not go above 3 rpm's. i took it to dealership they ran it through diagnostic, the code that came up was p0715, which is possible mesontranich unit ,tss input was erratic, the code was consider inconclusive and dealership and the warranty company refused to fix and they said there was nothing wrong with the car. on 04/22/2014 i was driving pennsylvania turnpike going north bound on route 476. when the same incident happened with a speed of 50mph and was stuck in gear. i had to pull over with 2 young kids in the vehicle. i shut the car off and turned it back on. besides traction light that came on and wrench light came on saying check transmission, the check engine light came on as well. i was able to video record the whole incident to show how unsafe the vehicle i was in. i was able to get the vehicle to a ford dealership. they ran diagnostics the codes that came up were p0715, p0701,p2765, the vehicle motormounts were broken, whoever fixed did and illegal fix, the motor mounts should of been completely replaced and the motor mounts was super glued by rtv super glue, which is illegal. this vehicle was inspected by the dealership where purchased and the sold me a vehicle with an improper and illegal inspection. the car should of been fixed by dealership and was not and put me and my family safety at risk. *tr
On monday, march 17th, 2014, after $3685 in repairs and maintenance, as well as some recall work, and a loan for $5321 for my 2005 ford freestyle limited awd (which was just purchased in october 2013 and has only been driven about a month total due to numerous issues), i encountered a problem with my transmission while pulling out of my driveway. as i finished pulling out of my driveway and shifted the vehicle into drive, all of the sudden the vehicle lost power, accompanied by a wrench light and a message on the dashboard saying "service transmission soon." there was a vehicle driving down the road behind me in the same lane; however, i was able to pull the vehicle back into the driveway in time before the vehicle approached my car. it is my understanding that ford is aware of the issue with their cvt transmissions and that incidents like this pose serious safety risks for the driver/passengers/others; however, they have failed to issue a recall for the transmission. according to the carfax on my vehicle, the transmission has already been replaced once, so this is absolutely ridiculous that it needs to be replaced again at a little over 142,000 miles. i was quoted about $6500 for a new transmission to be installed by the local ford dealership; however, i cannot afford this, so i either risk the chance of getting into an accident by continuing to drive the vehicle and having it lose power once again, or i do not drive it at all. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the transmission warning light illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed. the mechanic added a high pressure filter and transmission fluid, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the failure mileage was 103,005.
Well it idles loud. and is slow to go when their is nothing wrong with transmission. their is a lot of complaints from people on this car and everyone is trying to get a govt recall on this make and model. also the car fix shop says it could be the throttle body or transmission filter. researching everyone else is having this same problem and when you get this fixed which altogether is 1700 dollars. it just goes right back out. someone said that a lawsuit was being formed on ford because they won't fix the problem. and you are stuck with this car. even the ones who hasn't drove very much and is brand new is having the same problems also. from 2001 to 2006 yr models. please help us get ford to do a recall on this make and model of these cars please. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that the vehicle was purchased on february 6, 2014 and advised the dealer during a test drive there was a noise. the dealer stated that there was a loose belt and stated to schedule a service appointment. while driving 25 mph the vehicle was making a grinding noise and then it stalled and would not shift in or out gear. the vehicle had to be towed to a local mechanic that was recommended by the dealer. the failure nearly caused a crash to occur. the dealer advised the contact that they would pay half of the repair cost; however, instead the dealer provided another transmission. after the transmission was installed the identical failure recurred. the contact was concerned about a potential crash. the dealer did not diagnose the failure. the failure occurred on february 26, 2014. the vehicle was in the mechanic possession from february 26, 2014 to march 19, 2014; however, the failure recurred and was towed back to the local mechanic. the mechanic was referred to the contact by the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer gave the mechanic a transmission with no warranty; however, there is a limited warranty provided by the local mechanic. the failure mileage was 106,439.
In drive at 40 mph to 55 mph the car almost stalls and goes i to fail safe mode. in fail safe mode the car runs at 15 mph. the dealer says they can not duplicate the problem. *tr
Me and my wife carpool on third shift to our jobs. upon backing out of the driveway in reverse, the wrench light came on, and an error reading" failsafe engine mode". i was able to make it to work, however i couldn't go fast at all no more than maybe 40. i'm seeing online many with this year and model need or have had new throttle body's put in with no luck coming from it. i'm hoping there's a recall because i have two children and a wife to get around in this one car.i wanna know what the recall is on it if one at all is available. why haven't they corrected it yet after all these years of problems and so many complaints? *tr
Cvt failure. car would not accelerate over 45 mph and began jerking. would sit at traffic lights sometimes for 3 turns before car would move. barely made it home. *tr
Car lunges when sitting still with engine running both forward and reverse and is worse when air cond is on. loud noise i believe is coming from transmission while parked and running and sitting still. system was overcharging and caused my battery to explode. check light comes on intermittently. *tr
Cvt failed at approximately 87,500 miles while my nephew was driving the car. fortunately, no one was hurt and he was able to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. the vehicle continued to operate for another 5 miles of driving before it would no longer shift into forward or reverse gears. *tr
When idle in drive the rpm's surge by itself and the vehicle jerks forward. *tr
While my wife was driving home from work one night the wrench light came on the dash and the car started to make a loud whining noise from the engine area. she pulled into a shopping plaza and shut the car off and called me on the cell, we tried to start it up but the whining noise kept going and the car would move into any of its gears. it would shift into the gears selections but would not move at all, so i had it towed with a ramp truck threw my aaa membership. the transmission was not leaking and was full at the time of the breakdown and now its going to cost me around $5,000.00 to replace the transmission because ford motors co. had a problem with there cvt transmissions in the models from 2005 to 2007 in the freestyles and 500 models.my car may have 170,000 miles on it but the body is in great condition because its never been in an accident and right now i can not afford the repair bill. i could purchase a nice used car for that amount of money. i will never buy a ford product again. ford motors co. knows about this problem but due to the time line they will never have a recall and the owners will be stuck with the costly repairs. thank you *tr
I took my car to the local ford dealership to diagnose a tapping noise in the engine and was told i needed a transmission. used $2,000 to $3,000 and new $6,500. he told me that the car could go 50 miles or 50,000 miles before it completely stopped working but it could be dangerous if it happened if i were going at a high rate of speed. after searching the internet this appears to be a common problem that ford has never been forced to issue a recall for and won't fix for me. what happens if my kids are in the car with me when the transmission goes? i can't afford to fix the problem, i can't afford a new car - so what do people like me do? this is not a new problem for ford they could and should repair their defective design and equipment. *tr
Transmission is going out and can't afford to repair because of ridiculous cost. seat belt in middle seat is stuck and my children can't sit in that seat because it is stuck. very unhappy with this ford buy. i do not feel safe in my family vehicle! *tr
2005 freestyle cvt transmission failure, bought in summer 2013 as was never made aware of the issues with the transmissions. sometimes it would work just fine and other times it seemed like it was straining to keep up the speed it was set at. in november started to head to work and the transmission and check engine light came on, took it to shop and spent 1200.00 to repair computer chip inside transmission hoping this would help but it did not. the car will only engage in the cvt transmission if warm but takes a long time to warm up and then only goes a short distance before more problems. now being told 5000 plus to replace the transmissions cause nothing else fixes the problem. have only taken the car for one night a month ago and it has been at the repair shop ever since so since november only had it a night due to this matter. was advised the car is not safe to drive especially during the winter due to the possible complete failure at any time. *tr
Tl* the contact owns 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to shake and would not shift out of gear. the contact moved the vehicle off the roadway, shut off and restarted. the vehicle resumed normally. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 170,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. while the vehicle was in neutral or park, the neutral input shaft made a loud abnormal noise coming from the transmission. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 130,000.
When stopping, idling, putting car in gear, etc., the car will lunge almost striking car ahead of me. it seems to be worse when the ac is on or if my steering wheel is turned. i usually put my car in neutral while stopping in a drive thru or at a traffic light because i fear i'm going to hit someone. if i put my car in park, the engine revs very high until you turn off the car. this is extremely dangerous!! *tr
We purchased a used 2005 ford freestyle on april 4, 2013. it had 74,590 miles on it. on october 1, 2013 the ctv transmission began to fail. check engine and check transmission warnings came on, the car would not accelerate past 10mph, it lurched and crunched at 3500-4000rpms. we made it less than one block before it just stopped in the road. turning the engine off and back one, i was able to get back to ten mph and limp it back home. later that day after disconnecting the battery for ten minutes, the car fired up no problem and was drivable until the october 3, 2013 where this action repeated but it didn't even make it a block before stopping. again, by turning the engine off and back on i was able to limp it home. my husband was able to get it started one more time and took it to the mechanic. after an afternoon of full diagnoses, we were told it needed a new refurbed (so not even new) transmission for $6400.00! we were able to limp it home from the mechanics while we consider our options. after researching online this appears to be a well known problem with the ctv transmissions that ford is fully aware of and has no plans to correct. we would like to know what our options are with this lemon! we haven't even had it for 6 months and it has low mileage. thank you. *tr
Transmission died out in traffic on interstate 89. lost power and went into a low gear. *tr
While driving on the freeway the wrench light, and check engine light came on. the car lost significant power, almost resulting in accident would only allow me to drive 40mph, pulled over around 11 times and restarted the car. i was an hour away from home. i had the throttle body cleaned a few months ago at the ford dealership, they assured me that this would fix the previous problem because the car was lunging forward (which i have already made a formal complaint). however they also stated that it really should be replaced but they were only instructed to clean it and eventually it would get clogged again. when i spoke to them today they stated that there was nothing they could do and i would have to fix at my own expense. i could understand if it was normal wear and tear on the vehicle. however this is a major safety issue. someone is going to end up hurt by this. i am a family of six and i am really scared for my families safety while in this vehicle. first the lunging backward and forward.... now the car loosing significant power while driving on the freeway... seriously this is not appropriate... please have ford look further into this or eventually they will be sued by someone. as i was pulled over on the side of the road. another gentleman stopped and told me that he as well owns a freestyle and he is having same issues and currently is in the process of a lawsuit with ford. too many safety complaints on the vehicle/transmission for ford not to recall. !!!!!!!!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford free style. the contact was driving approximately 35 mph. transmission warning light illuminated and the transmission failed to operate. she pulled off to the side of the road and started the vehicle back up. she was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing and the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
While driving the car the check transmission light came on and the car started driving rough and wasn't shifting properly. drove car back home. barely made it home due transmission problem. had car towed to shop and was told that the cvt transmission needed to be replaced at accost of $7426. car is only worth $4500. no way am i spending over $7000 to fix this. i can buy a whole used freestyle for the same price. with all the complaints and failures of this transmission ford needs to replace these free of charge. *jb
I was backing up out of parking spot, the car lunged backwards. put the car in drive it lunged forward, idled and the engine fail safe light came on, showing wrench as well. the car stalled out. luckily i was able to coast into parking lot. i had to let the car sit before being able to start it up again. the car has lunged forward on multiple occasions when at a slow mph or pulling into parking spaces. i'm afraid to drive the car in case this happens again with my daughter in the car. i continue to read the same complaints on this vehicle so hard to believe ford hasn't done more for the safety of their customers. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle exhibited an abnormal noise. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics, all of which confirmed that the transmission would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 163,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the transmission light illuminated as the vehicle began to decelerate independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 88,000. the vin was unavailable.
Bought it 7/23/2013, day one fine. day 2, spouse in car, with 3 children, check transmission light, track control light, check engine light, wrench light all came on. .on the highway. car lost significant power, almost resulting in accident, car bucking and using significant rpms to accelerate . restarted the car after 3-4 times, lights gone car running smoothly. day 3, same thing. i've owned it for 6 days! terrified for my family and other drivers with this vehicle. too many safety complaints on the vehicle/transmission for ford not to recall. an american company putting americans at risk for harm. *tr
My freestyle surges and lunges forward and backwards. i hit a car while trying to back up and park because the car surged and accelerated into reverse. this is the second time that i have had this problem in 2 years and needed to replace the throttle body. i almost hit people in a parking lot because of the sudden surge and acceleration. this is extremely unsafe and unpredictable. needs to be recalled! engine mount was also cracked and needed to be repaired as in many of the other cases in the class action lawsuit. *tr
I have a 2005 ford freestyle and i have 137,053 miles on this car had this car going on 2 years..i bought this car used and still making payments on this car for another year...i have problems with a loud humming noise coming from the cvt tranny and my awd malfunction light stays on all the time now...and my car surges when going down hills...i am on permanent disability and i don't have the money to put into this problem that is fords fault..i did take the car to a tranny shop and they said that they cannot fix the problem cause they don't have the tools to fix it...i contacted ford and they said it was the sensor on the tranny that is going bad and for the rest it would cost more money to check everything out..i don't get this cause ford knows what's wrong but not fixing the problem...but all i know is there is 100's to 1000's of people that they said the same thing to..i was quoted close to $400 to do this...and up to $6000 for a new tranny..now the humming noise is getting louder and all coming from the tranny...awd malfunction light stays on and car surges down hills...sounds and problems like that are never good..im sure the tranny is gonna fail soon...im not sure what i will do since i cannot afford this fix and a car payment on a broken car..ford needs to fix this they put out a faulty tranny its not fair that all of us have to suffer.. *tr
The car had a ctv transmission , on this day after proper maintenance the transmission just broke, it, i believe, was bad design for a trans as witness of ford dropping this trans after 2 years. i had it towed to a transmission shop in brighton mi, where i was told the cvt was impossible to rebuild and would cost $6600 for a new one, the value of the car in good condition is only $4800, so even though the body was in great shape, the engine was in great shape, fairly new tires and great wheels, i had to send it off to an auto salvage company. they gave me $350 for a car that should have been worth $5000. the trans shop knew about the problem with cvt transmissions, as did the salvage yard, i checked online and there is a long line of complaints about this trans. i believe there is already a lawsuit against ford for this problem, and i am disappointed that ford has not acknowledged the problem. i feel i would have paid $1500 to have a trans fixed on this car, even though it should have lasted longer, so i believe i am out about $3000. *tr
I took my car in to be serviced for maintenance (power steering service and transmission service) to the ford dealership in thomasville, ga. after a few days my 2005 ford freestyle started to display transmission data error, check track control, and check engine lights. i called the company and was advised to bring it in and i did. the alerts were not on at the time but the service man jerry and josh told me they would check my vehicle and let me know what - if anything was wrong. they kept it all day and when i returned to pick it up i was informed that it was fine and they re-serviced my transmission. about two weeks later my car started the same thing all over again while in traffic it seemed not to want to pull off normally with all these alerts lighting up after church one sunday. i called ford of course they were closed but the next day was monday i called and was asked to bring the car back in. this time once it started to do the same things jumping in gear and knocking hard this time the service man who answered my call says they are looking for a transmission and advised me that ford would pay for half the work and parts. i asked if they didn't cause it why would you offer to pay half. the last time they got my ford freestyle they gave me a borrowed vehicle and told my husband 4 days later that the car has electrical problems that they will pay none of the repair. i was told twice my car was fine now my husband just got a new job and no way to get to it because i believe ford damaged my vehicle and refuses to right their wrong. what can i do now?
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the fail safe mode and the check engine warning lights illuminated. the contact stated that there was a sudden loss of power and the vehicle failed to accelerate over 10 mph. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 145,000. updated 10/02/14*lj the consumer stated the vehcle would surge at low speeds and experience a loss of power at high speeds. updated 03/2/2015 *js

Bought car and within two weeks it had a complete transmission failure. car makes a horrnedous noise and will not drive forward. prior to this happened the car would suddenly accelerate or surge. took to transmission repair shop who quote me $4,250 to remove and replace the transmission. at that price i asked what a new transmission would cost and they informed there are no new transmissions available. they also informed me that ford had abandoned the freestyle and its cvt transmission. i check wiht junkyards and found the cheapest i could find a cvt transmission was around $3,000. car has become a lawn ornament for the past two years. ford refuses to do anything ohter than to say it is out ofwarrantly. tere are class action suits brought over this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that the transmission failed. the vehicle surged forward and after applying the brakes, the vehicle would no longer move forward or in reverse. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileages were 100,000. *tr
My 2005 ford freestyle is making a helicopter noise ford dealer said it will need a replacement for 7000 dollars wtf .i can see that this same thing is happening to thousands for freestyle owners with no recall from ford don't they stand by their products anymore .this is a defect ford should replace the transmission on their dime not mine. please help!!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that the transmission exhibited an abnormal noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the transmission was failing and continued use would cause it to seize. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000. the vin was not available.
When i was reversing out of a parking space my car lunged backwards and then shut off and on my dash board it read "failed safe mode". then 2 weeks later this same thing happened to me when i pulled out onto a street. i was at a busy intersection and my car shut off again stating "fail safety mode" after 2 attempts to restart my car the vehicle finally started again. when i go into drive or reverse my car takes a few seconds to shift and will always lunge forwards or backwards while going around 2mph-5mph. this vehicle is becoming more and more unsafe to drive. the cost of a new cvt transmission will run me $5500. i contacted ford about this issue and they made it clear to me that they have not heard anything about this, although there is currently a class action lawsuit pending against ford for this matter. i also contacted the dealer who i purchased from less than a year and half ago and they are willing to give me $3000 for my vehicle which i purchased for $12,000 and still owe $9,000 for. there is no way i can afford to pay for this repair, especially because my vehicle is worth roughly $5,000 now. *tr
Driving down highway at 40-45 and car started making a loud whining sound, a couple of second later speed started decreasing and the the car would not accelerate. had it sent to a local mechanic (meineke) who explained that the transmission had completely gone out and that the cost of repair would be in the amount of 6498.00 and that was paying for the transmission ( that they don't know when will come in due to back order) and labor. we have since discovered that there is a class action lawsuit against ford for the faulty cvts/ however still no recall to fix the repair at fords expense. *tr
2005 freestyle sat parked at idle (in parking lot) for approximately 7 minutes. brake pedal was then pressed and gear shift put into "drive". vehicle rpm's immediately went up out of control without foot on accelerator. vehicle quickly lurched forward about 10 feet before brake pedal was depressed far enough to cease the movement. speed estimated at 8mph. rpm's continued to increase and vehicle lurched again and traveled about a foot before brake pedal was further depressed enough to cease movement. for about one-half second after brake pedal was depressed, rpms stayed high and then vehicle shook violently and stalled. dash readout said, "engine failsafe mode". fortunately, no persons were in front of vehicle during incident. one hour later, same day, vehicle would not properly accelerate during passing attempt. unknown if this issue was related. the next morning, vehicle would not start and hasn't started since. vehicle currently in auto repair shop (we've been afraid to drive vehicle and will not drive it until situation is rectified). *tr
Car suddenly slowed to approximately 5 mph and then stopped. accelerator stopped functioning. i waited for ten minutes, turned the engine on and limped home at 5 mph. this breakdown occurred after worked was performed at varsity ford in ann arbor, michigan for this same problem. dealer advised that the worked performed (cleaning the throttle body and reprogramming the powertrain train module) did not work. after detailed discussions with the dealership, i was advised that i needed a complete replacement of the throttle body module at my expense. why should i be held liable for the repair when ford had already admitted that this was a known problem by calling it in for cleaning. this is certainly an issue for the nhtsa to act on. i think that the $882.73 repair bill should be ford's burden, not mine. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestyle. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle came to a complete halt without warning. the contact mentioned that the accelerator pedal failed to engage. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 150,000.
Cvt transmission has issues many lawsuits over this our transmission stop yesterday. reading the cost of replace and this looks like something ford needs to address please help! *tr
The transmission of this vehicle is bad. ford knows it and they it but did not do anything about it. as we are driving down the freeway going 75 / 80 miles an hour the transmission will go to what they call a safe mode or something like that. when this happens it goes down to 40 miles an hour. if you are on the freeway when this happens it could create a problem, crash and thus is a safety concern. *tr
Well after i received the recall letter for cleaning of the throttle body, the following week i began hearing a noise as if i was in an airplane when before that was not the case. the i was headed to work one morning and i could not accelerate over 40 mph and my truck started jerking so i immediately pulled over and turned my truck off. i started back up heading straight to ford service dept. as i'm driving the wrench symbol came on which i had seen but when i brought it up to the service man the day they did the recall, he informed me that it was nothing. yet, this particular day when i got to them i just left my truck running to make sure he sees and hears what i am just for him to tell me that i would need a new throttle body and i now need a transmission over 5900 dollars that i didn't think was fair. then he goes on telling me that after this recall they always have trouble with acceleration and transmission problems. so, i asked him why he didn't inform me ? his response was that they only do what ford manufacturer tells them.. so they should be responsible considering they have been aware of this cvt problem. *tr
