On may 6, 2017 while driving on the highway at approximately 55-60 miles per hour, the engine suddenly propulsion, and effectively stalled. the check engine light came on simultaneously. (it was not on before). the vehicle slowly lost power. i was able to get it off the highway and safely into a parking lot. i had it towed to a nearby firestone, which ran a diagnostic which revealed that a portion of the engine was defective and has resulted in splicing of wires, which needed to be replaced. i was informed that there is a technical service bulletin, #14-0215 but that for is refusing to pay for the repairs even though the vehicle still is under powertrain warranty. the vehicle seized and effectively stalled on the highway without warning, and i'm lucky that no one was harmed. see attached invoice for repair information.

Break light on dash said break light fails all break lihts on when pushing break pedel my wife checked it light came on and warring transmishin running hot tap breaks back trunk lach on the back everytime i hit a bumb the light comes on the dash and today when i was backing up all thje indercater light went out on dash .it was in the shop on 3/28/2017

I bought my car just a few weeks ago, 4/2017 almost immediately it started this "sputtering" anytime i would move forward from a complete stop. some people calling this a shutter. the hesitation is at every stop on every take off. i took it in to a ford dealership near my home, & i was told that this is a known common problem at ford & it involved a clutch issue or faulty tcm with this automatic manual transmission. ford was aware of the problem, yet continued to sell these cars. the ford service tech manager after hearing my issues, looked up my cars zin & told me that ford stopped the recall on my model focus on cars made after june 2013. my car was built 8/13 two months after the recall deadline. so let me get this straight every car made in this focus style from 2012 -2014 except my car and a few others bill after 6/13 are covered under a recall for this exact same issue that i am having. i was told this is because they put new type seals in the transmission after 6/13. they did a tcm flash to the transmission that is covered under a recall so ford knows this is a known issue even for cars made after 6/13 or they would not need to have a recall issued for it. the manger took in my complaints in stride and said many focus have this problem. so i guess i just bought the most dangerous vehicle that i have ever driven (30 years and 10 cars later) in my life. i'm guess i'm wondering why ford would stop the recall midyear when clearly the transmission is still having problems obviously in cars after being built on or after 6/13. it shudders at take off, has trouble going from first to second. the car does this when starting from a dead stop mostly but it has also happened when the car slows down to a light, the lights changes and the car sometimes hesitates or lurches as its try's to find the right gear while starting to going faster again.

Transmission seals are leaking. ford put out a massive customer satisfaction program tsb that addressed this issue with an extended warranty for focuses built before june 2013. my car was built within 6 months after that date but has the exact same problem. they put out another tsb with an extended warranty for the transmission which does cover my car but it does not cover the transmission seals. ford knows it has a massive transmission problem which was not properly fixed when my car was produced. yet i am on the hook for paying for the fix.

Since purchasing the vehicle we have all ready had the control modular changed and it was previously changed 2 times by previous owner it now has been affecting the car for 3 months again and it is no longer covered under warranty. the car violently shacks when you try to accelerate from a stop, it some times won't even go at all! this has become a major issue and every other focus owner i speak with says they have the same problem and ford won't do anything... my part is warranted but not the labor and that's the expensive part, this is a ongoing issues and not fair to someone that still has 3 years to pay on a car...

It all started one day after i purchased my 2014 focus car from a dealer. when i pull out from a stop sign or when accelerating as the light turns green, the car hesitates and sputters before finally kicking into gear. it seems to be fine once it settles into place but it's pretty scary until it does. i dread when i have to slow down or stop. it seemed to be close to breaking down or stalling on a few occasions. i'm only a few days into owning this car and i really don't know what to do. i was promised a long life for this car but now i'm not so sure, the symptoms are somewhat similar to the last car i owned (an escape) - sputtering, hesitation, stalling and then it totally quit on me in the middle of the road on a hill. the engine blew up. this happened after i picked up the car after repairs from the same dealer. for the same symptoms. more to that story but i am afraid to bring it back for repairs fearing whatever is wrong with it, it wont be covered. but what choice do i have? help?

My vehicle had been brought in for transmission issues before for slipping, and delay when the gas is depressed. since the repair i've noticed the car's transmission while put in reverse will feel like it slips into neutral. it happened while i was backing into my parking spot in my apartment complex. the transmission is also very jerky when accelerating on an incline and will start to roll backwards. this was also a problem prior to the initial repair so i don't know if this is signifying the return of the problem. in addition to the transmission problem the controls on the steering wheel are also non-responsive or will control something other than what it is supposed to be for (ex: volume + and - change the radio station or end a call). in addition to this, the sync system will either not connect to the phone via bluetooth occasionally or it will not be able to recognize the device. keep in mind that the phone connecting is a galaxy s7, so i know it is compatible. the electrical problems have been on going and were addressed in the initial transmission repairs but they were not resolved. the second transmission issue occurred again on the annotated date.

Just purchased a used 2014 focus with only 012755 miles on it, two days later returned to dealer to report drivers side mirror light falling off and unit hesitating and jerking lurching forward and grinding noise from dead stop, dealer didn't seem to think it was a big issue, was told they will look at it when i return to have mirror blinker r/r (part on order) almost hit house when parking that evening. unit also lost power at 60 miles per hour when driving but motor continues to run, had to pull over in a panic, unit would not move when put in gear even when giving fuel, lights blinking (prdl lights) engine light blinking, seems to be ok after it sits for awhile. unit also seems to not engage gears as speed picks up (stuck in low gears?). help us please, we just purchased this car used from a ford dealer why would they sell us a car so dangerous? it also is a ford certified unit, we have put less than 100 miles on the car and afraid to drive it. we are senior's living on a fixed income and are a scared to drive the car. someone is going to get hurt, we need this fixed soon, no way to get to the doctor. the car has been sitting out front for over a week now no contact from the dealer yet. please help us, i have over two million miles safe driving record (awards....) with the largest trucking company in the us when i retired 4 years ago, i know how to drive and i know when something is not safe!

Problema de transmisin y clutch desde las 42000 millas y lo lleve dentro de los 90 das de garanta cuando lo compre pero el el vendedor dice que es problema de fbrica el carro se jala y no entran bien los cambios

Even though transmission was replaced back in october 2016, march 2017 the vehicle was hard shifting, and not taking reverse. was told 2nd, 3rd, and reverse gears were broken and power train went bad. although everything was under warranty and all parts replaced. still don't understand how power train and gears broke when a new transmission was placed into the vehicle less than a 1yr ago.

I purchased a 2014 ford focus used with 86k miles, upon taking delivery of the vehicle we noticed while driving the vehicle when starting from a complete stop the car jerks and bucks. i took the vehicle for recalls to be fixed, in which i believe the transmission issue fell under the tcm module recall. my daughter was driving back to campus and the car was bucking and jumping and then finally cutoff while driving!!!

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle shook violently. the dealer replaced the transmission, but the failure recurred. the contact stated that the transmission was replaced three times. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 48,000. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. on several occasions, while attempting to drive, the vehicle hesitated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. the contact mentioned that the vehicle clutch assembly was previously replaced, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 38,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle shuddered and jerked with no forward motion. the vehicle was taken to jordan ford (13010 ih 35 north, san antonio, tx 78233), but they were unable to find the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in a service campaign or recall. the failure mileage was 70,000.

The transmission is unsafe. it has shuttered and doesn't always take off when you give it gas. according to the mechanic and the ford dealer ford has tried 4 fixes none of which have worked. to my knowledge none have been done to my car becuase by the time i am notified by the dealer ford already knows the fix isn't working and stops shipping the parts. i have called ford and started a case, they promised me i would hear back it has been a month and nothing. without proper shifting and knowing what the vehicle is going to do it is not the safe reliable vehicle i had planned for my daughter. i would like ford to fix it or replace it. it has been doing this for the last 20000 miles at least and at varying speeds. the car currently has 36000 miles on it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle overheated and the transmission indicator illuminated. the failure recurred two more times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission computer failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

The car has a faulty cluch. this is a widespread problem with the ford focus. i believe the design of the cluch was faulty. it causes the car to lose power while driving creating a dangerous situation. this has been an outgoing problem with the car since the day i bought it.

When vehicle is in a stopped position at for ex: a red light and you give it a little gas to move - the vehicle will lunge forward out of control - the vehicle will also accelerate on its own and decelerate on its own - and gears are sputtering - this is a serious safety hazard - was taken to ford dealership for repair and was told its operating normally. and these problems continue to happen - there are current class action suits against ford for faulty transmissions - my dealership and ford corp refuse to do anything to remedy this issue -

The car stutters to start moving. the transmission is stuck. it takes a lot of rpm to get the car moving from a stop or start. i have had an episode where the car accelerated on it's own. took it to the dealership they are aware of the stuttering and are doing nothing for that. they can find no reason my car took of on its own. i feel that the defect in the transmission they know about. and will do nothing about it. i am just getting frustrating why they won't discuss the transmission issue. thank you.

Quite often my car shutters when i start to take off or go up an incline. the shifting seems to wind out longer than it should when i press the accelerator to speed up. i also experience a rollback when on a hill while stopped. the shuttering and these other issues have been happening since i bought the car at a ford dealership in feb, 2017.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the gear shifted into neutral and the vehicle shut down. the vehicle also failed to shift into reverse. occasionally, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to titus-will ford (253-475-4151, located at 3606 s sprague ave, tacoma, wa 98409) where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

My vehicle has only 57k miles and the vehicle flutters when accelerating from a stopped position. it does not speed up normally. i fear that when switching lanes or leaving a stop sign/red light i could possibly get rear ended due to the car not speeding up like it should. it shakes and rattles when trying to take off as if it doesn't want to go anywhere. while depressing gas pedal is also makes a loud noise. when on highway, it won't speed up at times or it goes way below speed limits. cars honk their horns at me as it appears that im not trying to go anywhere. it's been happening since i purchased the vehicle 09/2016.

Good afternoon, my family and i have a 2 year old 2014 ford focus that we bought brand new off the lot to avoid the problems associated with used cars. 2 weeks ago in the middle of the highway the vehicle began to shudder and lose power and then eventually turned off while in motion. we had the vehicle towed to the dealership and quickly began to try and figure out what is going on. a quick google search revealed we were not the only ones. experiencing this issue. there appears to be a major issue with the focus transmission. the dealership state they can find nothing wrong with the car and suggested we drive more aggressively to solve the problem. immediately we contacted ford motor company as this is clearly a bigger issue than just my car. fmc states there is nothing they can do because they can't prove that anything happened and there are no codes. no codes=no problem. they have refused to investigate any further. then next time my car stops could be in front of another car and can kill someone. ford is refusing to do anything to rectify the issue and is putting my family and many other family's lives in danger. please help me. do a search online about the focus and you will see that i am not the only one. please. i am scared to drive my own car but i do not feel safe. it lurches forward, stops responding and shudders.

The vehicle le transmission slips during takeoff from a stop. the vehicle lunges forward then feels like it will stall. attempts to change driving habits has no effect. it feels unsafe when trying to turn from a stop. this occurred mostly during city driving in all weather conditions. it has also happened while accelerating during merging into freeway traffic. *tr

I would like to file a complaint about a defective transmission control module for my 2014 ford focus. i have had it worked on or replaced three times, and am still experiencing issues. after replacement, the transmission control is very sluggish, and then it starts experiencing substantial clutch shudder (shaking with shifting) within a few thousand miles. this has happened every time, and the dealership has not proposed any alternative solutions. i see there is a class action suit about this, and also a recall. attempting to find out what the next steps should be to resolve this safety issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked. the contact slowed the vehicle down, but the jerking continued. the vehicle was taken to ziems ford corners (5700 east main street, farmington, new mexico 87402, 505-325-1961) and the dealer replaced the transmission clutch twice; however, the repair did not correct the failure. the vehicle continued to jerk and lose acceleration when the accelerator pedal was applied. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where they replaced the transmission module; however, the failure was not corrected. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 27,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle shuddered, the vehicle decelerated, and the gears were extremely difficult to shift. the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train) and nhtsa action number: pe13031 (power train). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 39,682.

I bought the car in feb 27 2015. the car would shutter climbing hills and on take off. we took it to the service dept. and we were told there was nothing wrong 2 times. finally on 09/2015 they did a software update and was told it was fixed. the problem started up again took it back in 11/15 and they replaced the clutch assembly. the problem came back again 5/2016 they did another software update. the problem persisted so they installed updated clutches and software update.the problem came back again on 12/2016 wheel speed sensor failed , they replaced the sensor and once again was told the problem was fixed. it is now 01/2016 and once again the problem is back. took it to the service department again .the service tech that test drove the car with me told me yep it is shuttering again and told me to stop on the side of the road and come to a complete stop then press the gas pedal to the floor until it hits 4th gear then let up and repeat it one more time and that would clean the dust off the clutches. so one again i have an appointment to have this transmission serviced again. we have contacted ford numerous times and the first time they were more than willing to try to fix the problem . now when we contact them we are treated like we are making this up.we called them a week ago and a woman by the name of [xxx] at [xxx] ext [xxx] was supposed to contact me within 24 hours. i still have not talked to her and i called numerous times ad left messages. instead someone else contacted us and proceeded to tell us the shuttering was normal. when i told them this was not normal and has almost caused at least 2 accidents and i was ready to get a lawyer i was told if i got a lawyer my case would be closed. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the vehicle was repaired per a recall for the transmission and the computer was reprogrammed. the vehicle received another recall repair regarding the transmission; however, the contact was unable to remember the recall repair. the contact stated that the transmission failed to shift properly without depressing the accelerator pedal with immense force. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer did not indicate a failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 31,000.

When pressing gas from a stop the car shutters causing a stalling then jerking motion.

Transmission fault: as i was driving the vehichle began to swerve and slow down. as i tried to maintain control i attempted to give the car gas but it would not move. luckily i was able to hit the flashers and cars behind me went around. transmission fault appeared in the info screen. the car was purchased in 2014 and has always had a stutter and shake during acceleration and deceleration. also when putting it in gear a grinding sound is heard. i have taken it to the dealership several times and they say "oh it just takes getting used to". they have also claimed to "reset" it. with the car stopping and swerving i was very fortunate not to be in a sever accident. this happened right near the turnpike and large semis and heavy traffic were around. i was able to get to the roadside and call for help. ford knows there is a problem. they have extended the warranty on transmission until 100,000. but this problem is dangerous. it needs to be recalled asap. several thousand complaints and lawsuits have been filed. (see attachment)

I purchased a 2014 ford focus with a salvage title. i noticed the transmission was slipping when accelerating. i was told that there was a recall from ford about this issue so i took the vehicle to mathews ford dealership in sandusky, oh. they said that in fact there was a recall. they test drove it and said they would order the parts for repair at no cost to us. we received a call from mathews ford on 1-9-17 saying ford would not cover it because it being a salvaged title. there are a couple of concerns we have with this. first, ford admitted this was a recalled vehicle. selling and buying a salvaged vehicle is not illegal. and now i have the expense of fixing a problem ford has had with these cars since 2012.

My focus hesitates when hitting gas after i've been stopped. it feels like the car is going to hesitate. it's also difficult to drive on hilly roads. there's no power and it feels like i'm going to stall. ford tells me there is no recall but i see plenty of websites where people are voicing their complaints for the same issue. sometimes the car won't go in reverse when i'm pulling out of a parking space. this is very dangerous.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the gear shifter failed and was not engaging properly, causing the vehicle to jerk and lose acceleration. the failure was experienced numerous times. the vehicle was taken to ford greenway auto group (9001 east colonial drive, orlando, fl, 032817, phone 407-275-3200) where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in the warranty repair for the dual clutch and the transmission control module replacement. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

This a copy of thecomplaint i filed with ford who responded i should bring it back for service for the 6th time. hi catherine, #1 when i spoke to your customer relationship center on wednesday i told daniel who answered the call that i had the car to bill currie ford 3 times and to parks ford in wesley chapel twice. he said all he needed was the last place we took it to which i told him parks of wesley chapel. i never even heard of parks lincoln tampa #2 no the car is not there at the it is in my possession at the moment. #3 the reason as you may well know already is the shifting problem that has been going on for some years in the ford focus. this past new years eve with were almost broadsided trying to cross a 6 lane intersection which was the final straw. here is the history of the car which we acquired on feb 26th 2015 brand new 5/7 at bill currie ford re-calibrated transmission a few months later took it to parks ford, they said they tested and could find anything wrong did not receive a statement but they must have it on record 1/5/16 bill currie ford said they reprogrammed the clutch 2/18/16 bill currie ford said they installed new clutch 9/19/16 parks ford said they tested car and found nothing wrong. 12/31/16 almost got killed because car would not shift correctly.

Traction control is a hazard, when you need power to the wheels and the traction control engages you have zero power. while going up a slight incline with snow on the surface the wheels spun briefly and engaged the traction control, lost all power to the front wheels and had to back down. talking with the dealer they said it is normal, not safe, but normal. now, you can turn the tc off but requires multiple steps with programming switch in the steering wheel, plus, every time you turn vehicle off it resets tc to on. there needs to an easy access switch to turn tc off while driving or at the very least, ford needs to reprogram the vehicles so when you turn tc off, it stays off until you turn back on. loosing power in traffic on a hill could be very dangerous and at the best causes you to back down. *tr

Engine over revving to shift. no engine revving or acceleration while turning. rough shifting. engine hesitation. cannot maintain highway speed.gears slipping. this is the second clutch pack (they last about 10k miles) on a vehicle with 21,000 miles. the car was dangerous to drive and had to be towed to the service center.

The transmission causes the car to shudder and jerk on acceleration, and has caused a miss-shift while turning left, shifting into a high gear and stalling in on coming traffic multiple times. the transmission has been replaced twice, with the same faulty design, and is failing a third time with 50,000 miles. car was bought brand new

Since i purchased the vehicle (new), i have had problems with the engine. i have taken it to be repaired to an authorized ford deal during the 3 years i have owned it - once, they replaced/rebuilt the clutch, twice for updates to the computer, and a separate time for the tires and wheel well (the dealership said some of the problems were caused by unevenness in tires, the wheel well also needed repair after my tires were rotated). the car consistently struggles to accelerate after coming to stop, such as at a yield, merge, stop sign, stop lights, or from slowing down. it shakes, jerks, stutters, makes a creaking metal sound, and most concerning, stalls. i have been told by the dealership the vehicle needs to learn my driving style, however, three years is an unacceptable amount of time. i take the car to the dealership for all maintenance. i have my oil changed and tires rotated regularly, in addition to the inspection done by the dealership at that time. when i press on the gas from a slowed or stopped position, the car should accelerate, but it stalls. it consistently stalls every time i drive it. this is not safe, especially since this is a brand new car. i have continued taking it for repairs to a ford authorized dealership only, leaving the vehicle for days at a time, and the problem has not been resolved. additionally, the mileage i get with the car is lower than expected and a ford employee asserted to me it is due to the engine issues.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle shuttered when the brake pedal was released. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch and seal needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 73,500.

Transmission shudders while changing gears. had bommarito ford dealership in hazelwood, mo inspect on 12/7/2016. was told the clutch needs replacement. the car has 19,674 miles when inspected. clutch is backed order and the car has not been fixed.

I bought this car used in december 2015. it has been in the shop twice since i bought it . it shudders when taking off and going up a hill. it also rolls backward by itself. it is definitely unsafe to drive. i bought additional warranty with it. i was just informed when i picked it up after being repaired the last time that ford focus has a junk transmission and will got out again. i realize that it is not covered under the lemon law because it was purchased used but the main concern is the safety. it rolled backwards on a slight hill even though i had my foot on the brake. it was a city street. luckily, the person behind me was not too close and the i had stopped a little ways from the person in front of me, because i had to gas it to get it to quit rolling backwards.

2015 not even a year old had clutch replaced due to car shuddering and failed clutch shudder test. not even a year later, doing it again and ford is telling me there is no warranty, it is out of the 60,000 mile warranty that came with the car. they want me to pay $1100 out of pocket to replace a new clutch due to shedder test failing again. this is ridiculous when they know a problem exists

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while operating the vehicle in lower gears, it suddenly began to shake and vibrate. the cause of the failure was not determined. corwin ford of springfield (3241 s. glenstone ave, springfield, mo) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the contact indicated that the power train was previously repaired in 2016 and the clutch and control module were replaced; however, the failures continued. the failure mileage was 14,000.

Jerking, shuttering transmission from standstill... since i purchased the vehicle new.

Transmission began shuddering during take-off and while driving. basically, the clutches are slipping causing the car to shudder, or in some cases not move at all, even though in gear. after researching, learned about a massive issue that ford was aware of, but someone my vehicle falls just outside of extended warranty issued by ford, even though every transmission of this model is defective with a manufacturing defect. paid $1400 for clutch pack repair. had same repair done, under service warranty 10,000 miles and exactly 1 year later. had same repair done another year later, except no longer under repair warranty, so had to pay another $1400. according to ford service technicians, this issue really is not fixable. they can only replace parts, which is a band-aid until the exact same issue happens again, which is fluid leakingg past seals and ruining the clutches. unfixable, only temp patch. so, even though ford knew this transmission had an issue before the put it into production, i now have to pay $1400 every two years forever, to continue repairing their flaw, have a vehicle with decreased trade value that i can't get rid of. these cars are entry level. the owners of these vehicles can't afford to fund ford's corporate greed. how dare them look the other way and not take responsibility for design flaws that their own engineers warned them about. the extended warranty only applied to a small subset of the affected vehicles. the previous class action lawsuit was a joke that only provides relief after many thousands are spent on repairs. basically the law firm got rich and the affected consumer got a jelly-of-the-month club certificate.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while attempting to make a left turn, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was an issue with the transmission. also, the pcm/tcm clutch needed to be re-learned. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 27,300.

From the first week i had the car something has been wrong with the transmission. it jerks and doesn't accelerate like it should, makes a horrible crunching sound. several times i have been in the turning lane and had ample room to turn before a car got to me but the car jerks and stalls so that i have almost been hit because it has no power. the dealer had the car for a week, said they "couldn't replicate" what i reported. it doesn't do it every time but if they really drove it for a week, it would happen. everyone who ever rides in the car with me asks why it chugs like it does. i'm going to get into a wreck one day because i should have plenty of time to make my turn but the car stalls and chugs so much that it takes much longer than it should to get safely into where i am turning. it makes me pick a date below, but this is a several times a week for 3 years occurrence.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle lost power while driving 75 mph on the highway. the check engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel when the failure occurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 86,000. updated 02/07/2017*ct consumer state vehicle is still stalling at times. updated 7/13/18*jb *tr

At 37,000 miles experienced intermittent loss of transmission engagement. the transmission control module (tcm) required replacement, but also directly effected the wearing out of the transmission clutch assemble. the vehicle exhibited unsafe symptoms of intermittent loss of transmission power/ engagement while driving, at start from a light, pulling out into roadway. the two parts were replaced at that time by a ford dealer. now, at 64,000 miles the problem is reoccurring. the vehicle was taken once again to a ford dealer and a claim to ford motor company had to be initiated by the dealer for partial coverage. a $300 deposit had to be paid toward the $1,700 repair bill. in our household we also have a 2013 ford focus that had to be repaired three times now at approx. 75,000 miles. (reported separately). these issues are well known and documented, however, the lemon law or nhtsa has done nothing to help the consumer with making ford liable for the full coverage of the transmission clutch assembly that is directly damaged and wore out because of the tcm defect. ford has only extended a warranty on the tcm, which is a very inexpensive part of the problem.
