Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving, the vehicle lost power. the dealer diagnosed that the vehicle needed the wiring harness replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 67,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle lost power while driving 75 mph on the highway. the check engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel when the failure occurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 86,000. updated 02/07/2017*ct consumer state vehicle is still stalling at times. updated 7/13/18*jb *tr

12,771 miles, starter replaced. 14,207 miles, fuel pump replaced. 18,249 miles fuel pump replaced and transmission control module reprogram for failure. 19,999 miles replace clutch and starter motor assembly. about 24,000 miles, car no start, battery replaced "bad battery". 29,975 miles car no start, jumped to start. 31,500 miles no start, battery replaced "bad battery". approx 32,750 miles, replace clutch and whatever else they may find. this car stutters in first gear (automatic transmission) when it was purchased it was fine and then a month later it started to shake and stutter on acceleration from a stop, whether in traffic or in the driveway. ford told us that it was a "smart transmission" and that it had to get used to two people driving the car although i am the primary driver. new "clutch pac" only temporarily solves the problem and then it starts all over again after a month or so. we have also had a no starting issue. we received a letter from ford about it, but they cant seem to help and wont replace tcm because they say the dealers can't show the part is malfunctioning. *tr

My car has a mind of its own. i have complained to ford many times regarding the car jumping since the day i bought it. i have been told " oh, its the way it was made." my car completely stopped on me before while i was driving with my kids in it. i took my car back to the dealer right then and they reprogram it and told me it was fine. i took my car back for the battery going to completely dead with a brand new car. today as i'm picking up my kids my check engine light came on. i took my kids home and called my dad and was advised to get a diagnosis test ran on my car. to my surprise my car is getting a error code p090c? this is an electric problem that it seems that million of drivers have gotten that involves the clutch actuator low circuit. why did i not receive a recall for this? i need some answers now because this car has stop before with my children with me and i will not die because of ford. i need this issue fixed. *tr

Power loss to drive train and vehicle displays "stop safely now" message. this had happened repeatedly while vehicle was in motion on public roads.

When i put it in drive mode it goes back words.when i'm driving for about 20 min it shows my e brake is on and says transmission at fault and engin at fault

Rodents are eating wires in my motor. i saw on ford website that they are using soybased wire insulation. there is a class action that has been filed by consumer against honda..who is using same soybased products in their manufacturing car process and has even invented a duct tape coated with a product that should detour rodents from chewing these wires if it is wrapped around the wiring inside the motor. they refuse to cover..(ford)..and (honda) these repairs under our manufactures warranty for defective material..which is not fair to us the consumer. it will me...ford said....over two thousand dollars to repair. this soybased products..attract the rodents..and either should be stopped in the manufacturing of cars..or manufacture to be required to..replace..free of charge. if they repair..at my expense..rodents will only continue to be lured to my cars..wiring..to chew it up again. this could result in fires..crashes..is very dangerous situation..not to mention..costly to us the consumer. honda would not of invented that duct tape..but they did because they knew darn well that it is attracting rodents. we all want eco friendly products..but not when it puts consumers..at grave risk. i have lived at my home for over 25 years..never..has this happened to me. this is second occurance. first time cost me under three hundred. i do not want this to cost me my or my child's life..the next time.

Ford focus ev- while driving the vehicle loses power and shuts down saying "please pull over safely." have taken to the dealership twice and they cannot find a solution. very dangerous as the vehicle stops in the middle of the road when driving!

From the date of purchase in 2014 this car hesitates upon acceleration shutters and shakes. there have been numerous times when i have felt unsafe and at risk for bodily harm. i have taken it to my dealer numerous times and have been told repeatedly "this is the worst transmission ford has ever made." but they explain that ford will do nothing about it. "i wish they would, everyone complains about this car." on numerous occasions while traveling between a stopped position and five, 10, or 15 miles an hour this car hesitates shakes and shimmying. i had it in a little over a month ago with the same issue. they did nothing and told me "ford says if it falls within a certain parameter there is nothing we can do. our hands are tied." this morning i was heading to a family funeral, pulled out of my driveway tried to accelerate and my car choked and died. i have been unable to get it restarted and had to have it towed to a different dealership hoping to get better customer service. i honestly believe there should be a class action lawsuit against the ford motor company for this inferior product. also, my radio has never worked correctly. if i turn the rear defrost on there is horrible static over the radio. the dealer just keeps on telling me "you have bad reception. "

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the horn failed to work. the contact called the dealer and was advised to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

While i was driving my ford focuse se it lost the power at the red light . the car died on me ,it was the scariest moment , i almost lost my life getting hit by another car trying to push the car to the side . very unsafe car , would never drive that car again !

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at low speeds. the vehicle hesitated while at a stop sign. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the dealer replaced the clutch module, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 40,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. when the contact attempted to start the vehicle, the electric power failed. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but a failure could not be found. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, the dealer replaced the battery and an electrical part from the transmission, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

First problem was the car shuddering and jerking. ford garage, repair some transmission seals, programming, replaced fuel tank, fuel pump and engine wire harness repair. shortly after the car began to lose ability to move when accelerating, the engine rpm's would rev and vehicle had little power to move. ford garage replaced clutch and did programming. on the way home from that repair, our care suffered the same symptoms it was brought in for. it is currently in the shop and we have no confidence in what we will get back.

My vehicle has had numerous transmission problems, going into reverse while driving, shutting off while driving, etc. recently, the power steering completely went out and reverted to manual steering. today, while driving it for a while, i noticed a burning smell and pulled over. under the hood, the fuse box had caught fire, but was blown out by the wind when i opened the hood. 20,500 miles.

Since day one this car's transmission has not worked properly. i should have just brought it right back to the dealer that day. it has been back 4 times for transmissions issues: shuttering at take off, accelerates on its own without your foot on the gas, keeps changing gears when trying to accelerate on a highway, lurches forward when moving slowly (pulling into a gas station), rpms go up when you take your foot off of the gas and do not drop back down again until you are at a complete stop. the front brakes are completely worn. i see these complaints on the internet over and over again. today we were driving the car on a highway and it just stopped accelerating. had to pull over very quickly to get over to the shoulder safely. motor was still running with an engine fault message was displayed. ford's roadside assistance doesn't even cover getting your car off of a toll road and living in nj they are hard to avoid. the dealer says that that is the way the car drives. they write up the paper work very vague and never put the correct description for the issues. the car goes in and out of the service department - programming update. there are 479 complaints for this car on just this site for mostly the same issue. the other 2 cars i own have 0 and 35 complaints on this site - big difference. my last ford.

While accelerating in traffic yesterday evening a warning appeared on the display panel "stop safely now". i was unable to exit the roadway immediately due to traffic and the vehicle would not accelerate while approaching a traffic light. the engine operating indicator (a green car with arrows pointing forward and back) was no longer on but accessories on the car worked properly (e.g. headlights, power steering, etc) i put the car in park and attempted to turn off the car with the brake pedal engaged in an attempt to restart but car would not turn off. i was able to eventually push the car off of the roadway into a parking lot. the car's ignition turned off once i was back in the vehicle and the door closed. i powered the car on after it had fully shut down and it returned to operating normally. please note: this is the all-electric ford focus. thank you. *tr updated 1/28/16 *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle shuddered upon acceleration. the vehicle was taken to two different dealers, including jack demmer ford (734-721-2600, located at 37300 michigan ave, wayne, mi 48184) where the computer software was reprogrammed. the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the clutch assembly was replaced. the dealer stated that a certain amount of shuddering was normal. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while the vehicle was parked, an abnormal sound was heard from the engine and the driver side fog light illuminated independently. in addition, while driving at various speeds, the radio turned on and off independently. the failures recurred constantly. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failures was not found. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

Vehicle's transmission shifts into other gears while in drive. three separate times it has went into reverse. twice while coming from a stop, once while in mid drive. my vehicle was in the shop a total of 57 days so far this year, got it back on friday after a field service engineer came to look at it. they were unable to replicate any issues with the transmission, but would not certify it as "safe." today, i was driving at 65 mph on the highway when the engine revved high and the dash display showed i was in park. it limped to a stop on the highway then flashed "transmission not in park p" before it shut down. after calming my nerves just a bit, i was able to restart the vehicle. i was about 4 miles from the dealership and was able to drive it (slowly) to them. i was able to snap a photo showing the vehicle in park doing 65mph with an rpm of 3500. however, from previous experience, this is not "proof" if the issue is not duplicated by ford directly. so to date at 19,970 miles, the vehicle has went out of gear 4 times. the vehicle stopping on a highway by going into reverse and park is not a safe condition that could lead to a crash.

Car intermittently stalls when the clutch pedal is depressed. this can occur at a stoplight or at freeway speed.

When i take off from being stopped, my car drags with a vibration. when i pick up speed on the freeway my car slides to the left and i lose the control of the steering. my phone numbers have never been able to be sync to my car because the electrical part is defective. my tires light stays on off and on. it feels as if something is getting loser under the rear of my car. on fox 2 news this morning, they announced a recall on ford car axles. today is october 1, 2015. the date of the last incident is given below. but i have been having problems for a while. when i took my car to the dealership about the light and tires, they just reset it. they didn't take time to test drive it and really address my problems with this car. i don't want to have a accident or die in my car. i would like to get these problems taken care of.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 65 mph, the transmission jerked excessively. the contact had to slowly remove his foot from the accelerator pedal to stop the jerking. in addition, the horn and the alarm system no longer worked. the air bag warning light illuminated on and off while the contact was driving. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at 10 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. the contact stated the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the result was inconclusive. the contact stated that the fuel pump was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while at a complete stop on an incline, the vehicle would sometimes roll forwards or backwards. in addition, the vehicle would occasionally lunge forward. the vehicle would also stall and the lights on the instrument panel and the hazard lights would illuminate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the computer adaptive learning sensor needed to be adjusted. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 21,000. ma 10/2 updated 11/08/2017*cn

When trying to accelerate in the car the transmission shudders and causes the vehicle to stall. the transmission has issues shifting and causing the vehicle to jerk.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled, jumped a curb, and crashed into a sign. the air bags did not deploy and the safety belt failed to latch without warning. the vehicle had to be towed to a body shop. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v005000 (electrical system). the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but it was not diagnosed due to not being authorized by the legal department to remedy the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact sustained two black eyes and currently has an umbilical hernia. the contact did not require medical attention. a police report was filed. the approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that while driving at any speed, the vehicle jerked forward and intermittently stalled. the dealer informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v514000 (steering). the vehicle was repaired under the recall but the failure reoccurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 23,000.

The horn is an important safety system required for annual state inspection. horn has not worked regularly for years. have had a mechanic shop reset the wheel switch and it work for a short time. diagnosed bad design with spring/switch at center of steering wheel.

The car shudders, jerks and slips out of gear ... ford won't do it and let me buy the car without saying a word even though they knew the hundreds of complaints and lawsuits they have had in the past. *tr

Vehicle has had a red fluid leak for quite some time. the car has been back to the dealership for this issue many times and currently filing lemon law arbitration. the car has been out of commission for 55 days altogether since it's purchase in january this year due to the fluid leak which seems to be more of coolant than anything else. it is burning oil and or losing it somewhere that isn't visible. it also has had electrical problems with starting as well as the radio clock and presets all resetting after sitting for more than 24 hours. i have had to have the sunroof resales after it had leaked for over two months and the dealership wasn't able to find the leak. the front end makes horrible noises when decelerating. it grinds and whines as if something is about to blow up. i've taken it into the dealer for all of these concerns and only one of them has been resolved fully. i'm very disappointed in my purchase.

Traction control issue.... during snowstorm , trying to drive up a hill with a left hand turn , tires lost traction and car electronically reduced rpm speed... loss of speed almost sent car sideways into ditch. had to turn around and get run at hill 4 more times.... each time when traction with tires was broken ...rpms were dropped to nothing leaving car stopped near stalling in middle of hill. will be dealing with dealership soon.. i feel that the fix for this is going to be remove fuse for traction control.....or disable traction control system.. this car is a stick shift... i can see how another 120 reports on this page with auto transmissions, may be the same issue..... *tr

My transmission will slip out of gears lose power while accelerating and stops completely when that happens dealership replaces tcm twice and clutch once but the jerking gears slipping out and sudden loss of power has never been resolved also my a/c lines have had holes rubbed into them from serpentine belt another problem is electrical the sync and radio stopped working at 30000 miles was fixed under warrenty and stopped working again at 70000 miles told not under warrenty any more it is very dangerous because out of nowhere the speakers will crack at full volume startling driver. another problem at 40000 miles a car pulles into my path causing me to slam into the side of there car at 45 mph with no time to stop my airbags did not deploy causing me to smash face of windshield and seat belt was fastened told dealership about this they said the car has a smart airbag that calculates the rate of deceleration of when to deploy airbags not sure how 45 mph to 0mph is not enough deceleration.

Several times the sun roof intermittently does not close. once it's open, it will either not stay open or will not close at all. it repeatedly opens and closes over and over and stops when the sun roof is open. sometimes after 10 or twenty times it stops at open position or it will close. there is no way to close it unless trying over and over until it finally closes. sometimes it will not close at all no matter how many times of trying and must wait until some other time to get it to close. speed of driving or weather conditions seem irrelevant to the condition. it doesn't matter if the car is turned off and then re-started.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while accelerating from a stop, the engine stalled without warning. the failure recurred numerous times. the dealer diagnosed that the clutch failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v495000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was approximately 2,000. updated 7/13/15*cn

I purchased a 2014 ford focus back on april 24, 2014. i took my car to crown ford service department for the second time on 9/02/14 to be service for shuddering, loss of power, passenger window wouldn't let down, it rolls backwards on incline with automatic transmission, and has this grinding noise. ford was saying this is normal, if this is the new normal, then i pass on purchasing a ford. i feel this car is needing to be recall before there are more serious injuries. i am 21 years old and i feel this car is an increase risk for a accident. *tr

I have had my focus in to be repaired four times for the clutch plate assembly shuddering/jumping/hesitating upon starting up from a stopped position.the last time it was in was march of 2016, and is now doing the same thing in june 2016. this was first noticed at 12000 miles, but not addressed until the milage was 15500. this disqualified it for the buy back with ford through the bbb autoline. the clutch plate has been replaced twice and adjusted the sensor two other times. this is a safety concern in the event of pulling onto the interstate or in heavy traffic and does not give the acceleration needed. i have asked a couple of times for a buy back, but have been told no. please help me and other consumers to have this issue addressed and fixed.

While cruising at a steady 65mph in rush hour traffic on the interstate my vehicle unexpectedly went into what the ford dealer later called "limp mode." the car lost almost all its power and at first seemed to be stalled. i was unable to accelerate and the speed gradually dropped. there were tractor-trailers merging onto and off the interstate, and i had a fearful sensation of going up under one. there was too much traffic to "back off" and go behind them, and i had no acceleration to get around. it felt like i was going to be "run over," and i'm not so sure the tractor-trailer drivers could even see me. at the next exit i immediately left the interstate and pulled into a gas station, turning off the engine. taking off and accelerating from the interstate exit to this station was actually very difficult. it felt like i was going to cause an accident because the car did not have enough acceleration to properly maneuver. i was not sure what happened and immediately called the service department at the nearest ford dealer. i spoke with a lady who seemed very knowledgeable about the problem, (which actually worries me because that makes it seem like a common issue), but offered no solution. she almost seemed slightly "irritated," as if it was something she had "explained many times before." she said "turn the car off for about 10-15 minutes and let the computer reset. if there is a major problem it will still be in 'limp mode,' but more likely it was a fluke and will turn off." i asked, "why did this happen? it's only six months old and i was just cruising down the highway." her response was 'yeah, it just happens.'" i personally feel like this is something that could be widespread and needs investigation. it felt like a highly dangerous situation, and is apt to repeat itself. the dealer offered no immediate solution other than, "let's just see what happens." *tr

Ford focus st 2014 on hot / humid day when you start the car up the engine revs will drop to <500 rpm and the engine will shutter or completely stall. in addition, while travelling at speeds 10-20 mph when the clutch gets pushed in the engine will hunt idle from xrpm and drop to <500rpm rapidly and the car will shutter or completely stall. i have been driving my car down the road and had it completely stall while moving. if this happens in the middle of the road or intersection it is seriously dangerous. ford is aware of the issue, but are not fixing the electrical problem unless a specific engine code is stored in the computer. it has been proven that the engine will stall in these situations and still not throw an engine code, thus, ford will not perform the service. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was serviced twice under warranty and repaired per tsb: 13-6-10; however, the remedy failed. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v495000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 15,000.

My ford focus (2014) shuts off at idle. i have taken the car to get fixed twice. now the dealer has had my car for a week and they are still trying to find out what the problem is. also i have found on the st forms that there is a lot of ford st owners with the same problem. *tr

Vehicle is equipped with ford's 'automatic/manual hybrid' transmission. vehicle began stuttering about a month after purchasing. purchased vehicle brand new in january with 44 miles on it. when accelerating from full stop, vehicle shudders as if there were issues with the air intake, fuel, or transmission. took vehicle back to two separate ford dealerships (including where vehicle was purchased) and was told that that's just how it runs. previous car was a manual. whomever is operating the clutch under the hood, needs a lesson in driving! feels like vehicle is going to stall every time. *tr

2014 ford focus st with manual transmission when decelerating to a stop sign or stop light (approx 20-10 mph), and engaging the clutch to coast with the car in neutral, the car will almost stall (drops to about ~500 rpm) and then the engine "catches itself" and will rev to 1000-1200 rpm before settling back to a normal 700-800 rpm idle. this happens at random, but "ac/on" also increases likelihood of occurrences. this happens every trip. i stopped counting after 12 events in the first seven days. the car also "hunts" for it's idle speed (with a warmed engine) and varies from 700-1000 rpm, apparently at random. there is already a ford tsb for this, tsb# 13-09-07, but it can only be accomplished if an engine completely shuts down and throws a check engine light/code. due to the fact that this could completely shut off an engine while stopping near other motorists, like the recent gm ignition issue, i believe ford should recall all these vehicles. it is a 45 minute repair and approx $8 dollars in parts to repair two "crimped wire connections" in the main wiring harness, (s132 & s133). they need to be soldered, not crimped (6 bare copper wires overlaid together and crimped). i have been to two ford dealerships but they are under strict ford guidelines not to accomplish the tsb unless there is a check engine light/code. i even offered to pay for the repair and was turned away both times. i believe it is better to accomplish this tsb and remove the concern than to wait for an owner safety issue leading to engine shut down and an accident. there have been numerous complaints about this issue on forums at focus st.org: http://www.focusst.org/forum/forum.php [search for tsb 13-9-7]. there are youtube videos of this event as well. please help ford resolve this issue before it hurts someone. thank you kindly. *tr

All since purchase in jan 2014. within a few months of new purchase: electrical issues and errors unknown to ford, need for transmission swap, 2 or 3 recalls re transmission and door replacement, horn stopped working (while in 65mph traffic i95 and almost in an accident). constantly in shop and continual issues with stalling (once, stopped in 65mph traffic on major interstate i95 in left lane), synch and phone system has never worked correctly. 3 weeks ago, after stopped at a traffic light in rush hour traffic in philadelphia, depressed gas pedal and went in total reverse! did this twice before completely turning car off and had to be towed.

Trouble with the dual clutch automatic transmission from the first day of ownership. the car now has 6k miles and the problems persist. the following problems are even worse during cold weather: the transmission shifts poorly, roughly, misses shifts, chooses the wrong gear for the vehicle speed, disengages and sends the engine to redline then drops into gear with a bang and either slows the vehicle with engine braking because the gear is too low, or lugs the engine with no acceleration because the gear is too high. the transmission is always shifting, and seems 'confused' as to what gear that it should be in. in city driving, if i need to suddenly brake, when i re-apply the throttle again, the transmission hangs between gears and the engine revs to redline then drops into gear and chirps the tires. the transmission also makes grinding noises when changing from 1st to 2nd gear. also very slow to drop to a lower gear when throttle is pressed for quick acceleration. takes about 2 seconds for it to downshift and then accelerate. also, the gear indicator on the console (prnds) doesn't line up with the shifter or illuminate to show which gear is selected, so it's difficult to tell whether i've selected reverse, neutral, or drive. in addition, the display on the instrument panel that shows the gear selection sometimes takes over 30 seconds to illuminate or 'boot up' to indicate what gear is selected. i often end up in neutral when i think i've chosen reverse or drive while i wait for the instrument panel indicator to 'boot up'. the dealerships say that i have the current software, and, "they all do that." dangerous, and will probably add up to very expensive repairs as it can't possibly be reliable under these conditions. *tt
