We have classified the 145 complaints from 2014 Ford Fiesta about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.

CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 2 DRIVELINE 1

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Ford Fiesta

When driving and come to a stop, the car won't shift into gear. i have to turn the car off to be able to shift into neutral. it does this when sitting at a stop or trying to take off or back up.

After getting a letter offering a clutch replacement, i brought my vehicle in to the dealership and all they did was diagnose it. still lurches forward at lower speeds and there's a lack of power if you get on it like sea doo in deep water.

The dealer refuses to service my vehicle. transmission still hesitating ,lunging and slipping at take off.

Clutch pedal will stay stuck down in manual transmission 6 speed. intermittent, but repeatable (not every time but doesn't seem to stop happening) prevents car from moving forward when this happens. clutch is disengaged while this is occurring. can happen whether shifting stopped or while in motion. lifting on the clutch pedal by hand (or foot) will reengage the clutch. has happened when shifting from 1st to 2nd in an intersection, could not proceed under power in any gear till manually (awkwardly) reaching down and lifting pedal while traffic approaching me.

Aug. 11, 2019 went out to turn on the car and the battery was dead. i got a boost and the transmission malfunction service now light came on and the wrench light came on. i bought a brand new battery and the lights still didn't turn off. i took it to a ford dealership had the fuel changed still nothing. now the dealership is saying that there is something wrong with the transmission bearings. i do not have that type of money and i don't know what to do now i am still paying for this vehicle i've only had it two and a half years.

Part 2: this is the second part of the complaint following the trade-in of the 2012 focus i purchased brand new...so, sick of the focus acting up all the time, i took it back into jim snead ford, waynesboro, va and he encourages me to buy a brand new fiesta. i did not complain as he was my sole main guidance and i thought i could trust jim. on 08/09/2013, i purchase a brand new ford fiesta trading in the 2012 ford focus. jim snead allows only $961 trade in value for the focus and i lost $23,690.68 on depreciation and monthly payments! i buy the fiesta and the same thing happens again. the car's tires spin when accelerating from a full stop then the vehicle jumps out forward. the car rides rough, it bucks, it misses, it makes noises, it shudders. this time i am not very happy nor pleasant with mr. jim snead. i was a teacher, a widow w/ two kids still dependent on me and here he sells me another 'crap', terrifying car that seems to have a mind of its own. of course, according to mr. snead, it is my driving--not the car. i notice that the service department is not writing up my complaints every time i bring it in about the transmission-just like they left it out of my complaints with the focus.the fiesta receives its first of 3 transmissions a year after i purchased the car on 09/23/2014. while i am driving around w/ the service manager so he can feel how terrible the car runs, he admits to me the car is a bunch of junk and i need to start reading up on it. now the fiesta is in the shop often and mr. snead and i are not very friendly.i have all the service records, but i have to write in the car is running raggfed as the service department will not put it in the report. i want mr. snead to buy the car back, but he refuses.every month that rolls by is a disaster waiting to happen w/ the fiesta. another 'dollar bleeder', unsafe car!! *js

Transmission hesitates when car is in drive and advancing. it is dangerous while trying to make a pass or trying to move from standing on a traffic light

Transmission is 6 speed automatic, constantly shudders, fails to engage, disengages while driving. has been "repaired" numerous times and acts up withing a few thousand miles again. when trying to back up, as in parking downtown, reverse fails to engage or pops out of reverse leaving me in traffic. car is no longer reliable and is dangerous to drive anywhere due to this transmission.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving 40 mph on an incline, the vehicle failed to accelerate. also, while at a complete stop, the vehicle abruptly jerked and gradually accelerated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact refrained from driving highways speeds out of concern that the vehicle would lose acceleration and crash. wyatt johnson ford (646 thompson lane, nashville, tn 37204, 615-244-3615) was contacted and diagnosed that the clutch and transmission failed. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000.

After 45000 miles the clutch pedal started to get stuck on occasion. at 47000 miles the transmission failed with the clutch pedal stuck all the way down in traffic and the transmission was leaking fluid. it ended up being the slave cylinder that needed replacing. given that i do not drive a lot this failed outside of warranty while many other have gotten it replaced under warranty as it appears to fail on 2014 models between 40000 and 50000 miles.

The dsp6 dual clutch transmission in this car is unreliable and dangerous. this is exhibited via frequent shuttering, stalling, lurching forward, and loss of vehicle power when it switches to neutral at highway speeds. in one instance the vehicle lurched forward into an intersection at which point i was almost hit by cross traffic. in another instance, traveling at highway speeds, the transmission switched to neutral on it's own and i was almost hit by a another car from behind.

Takata recall car will not go into revers takata recall gear change is rough wile driving forewords shudders i have to turn key on and off many times before it will start loud clunk when making a right turn takata recall took car in for sync recall many times still not fixed

I had to recently park my vehicle. rebuilt my transmission 70,000 & 92,000 transmission still continued to slip, no power on freeway.

Car has been jumping since i got it in 2016, the place i got it from said it was normal and now the engine light and transmission light is on

Takata recal 2014 ford fiesta se ever since i purchased this vehicle i noticed that something funny with the transmission. at lower rpms you will hear something like broken parts clanking around in the transmission i assume. when you accelerate it does not keep a steady increase of speed when you apply the same pressure on the gas pedal, in fact it will down shift into a lower gear and rev to a really hi rpm .i would understand this if i was giving it a lot of gas but i am not, and am firm on the gas pedal. this is very unsafe and this piece of junk should not be allowed to be called a vehicle.

Takata recall - my ford fiesta that i bought in october of 2017 only has 47,000 miles and the transmission is already going out. when i accelerate to go on the highway it feels like i'm not moving and my wheel will sometimes jerk to the side. my steering wheel also vibrates when i'm in park or braking. i can also feel the vibration on the pedal. i try to take it easy on the gas but the transmission still jerks when shifting gears. i know these transmissions were recalled july of 2017 and i have not received a recall letter.

I was driving on a road, approaching a 4way intersection; the car engine stopped. the screen stated transmission failure. service immediately. my car restarted and the screen cleared. i proceeded on and within approximately 100 yards the screen repeated the transmission message. i then turned around to return to my home as the dealer was closed. i attempted to contact ford motor company. but it was sunday. monday i again called and was told that i had extended coverage on the transmission, to take it to the dealer. i have had repeated work on this vehicle's transmission since i purchased it in 2015. i have not been charged for these repairs, but the inconvenience and the potential for failure of the vehicle have not been addressed. i had slid through the intersection when the car came to a stop. luckily there was no oncoming traffic.

The vehicle stalls while driving or turning and the transmission warning keeps coming up on the dashboard also it has made the engine indicator stay on. when the car is parked and on it seems it has no issues then when you take it out of park it starts stalling immediately.

Ford company knowingly put faulty a transmission in their vehicles. to remedy the situation they then gave an extended warranty for the transmission, but when take your car to a ford dealership they refuse to repair things that part of the transmission. this is very misleading to consumers and a hazard for me and my children safety on the road. the gears shift while in motion, which has almost several times caused other vehicles to hit me. when at a stop pulling off it will barely accelerate or give a jerking acceleration, which is awful when pedestrians are near. all of which happens sporadically on the highway or in city traffic. this has been a continuous problem 2 years and thus far i've taken my vehicle to three different ford dealership and none are willing to uphold the ford warranty and/or address the issue that ford knows is a hazard. in closing, i received notice about an settlement regarding this vehicle, i received nothing and i'm stuck with a vehicle no one will repair. *tr

Mileage 48000 now on 3rd radiator cooling fan. fan stops without warning leading to overheating and loss of ac. transmission- clutches slipping causing erratic acceleration. unsafe to drive on highways. 3rd set of clutches in car now and reverse is becoming erratic.

I got vehicle at a well known car dealership - used. it was given '120 point inspection' so the car was in 'good to go' condition. i walked out with luckily some max protection insurance from them, where they would cover any non- ware & tear repairs. great decision at first, maybe not even a year in at roughly 80k miles the car ac does not get cool, when at a stop or slow speed the car would start to overheat & in stall - this is a manual vehicle so you would have to drop gear in order to gain speed back and cool the engine. the cooling fan wasn't turning over st any point, i replaced the fuse maybe 3-4 times and it kept blowing out. finally i took it in to get checked out, apparently the fan relay fuse was blown out causing the smaller fuse to blow, all this resulting in damage to the ac compressor having to be replaced, 2,700 in repairs with a deductible of 200 bucks. can't beat that right? wrong, here i am roughly 9-10 months later with the same issues happening again, car overheating when the ac is on, or at a hault with the fan not kicking over. ford: you are a multi billion dollar company, you need to make a car / system that can withtand arizona's 110+ degree weather during the summer. this seems to clearly be a electrical issue, as this isn't the first, second or even third issue i've had with the vehicle. including maker recalls.

Transmission control module not working right, our vehicle wont shift right, trying to merger with trafic creates dangerous situations because vehicle refuses to speed up. getting on the freeway but unable to accelerate creates huge traffic jam, and people behind you are going 60+ but your car wont go pass 30. people will get hurt if ford wont fix this issue, now going to dealer they want $1800 to temporary fix the problem, because after part is replaced it last about a year and then goes back again. dealer also refuses to fix vehicle if it has branded title, but how in the hell branded title has anything to do with faulty module that was not designed properly. the designer of the module should go to jail for endangering our life's. main problem is, when vehicle is a the stop, when trying to go it would shake and stutter, before going. or when entering freeway, if accelerating car will stutter and will not try to increase speed but its rpm's will sky rocket.

Takata recall the "powertrain" transmission feels really shaky when driving and even when im about to brake you can hear shaky sounds cominf from the car it feels unsae something has to done

Transmission had been slipping and vibrating while driving was repaired under extended warranty since i was at 36,000 miles. a week later the front axle fell apart while driving in motion due to a faulty bolt.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle would jerk without warning. the contact drove to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was later taken to mullinax ford (located at 1551 e semoran blvd, apopka, fl 32703, (888) 218-7505), but was not diagnosed or repaired due to the fees. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

I purchased a 2014 ford fiesta new in january 2014. it has the infamous dps6 transmission. it was explained to me that it is a standard transmission in an automatic box. it did the shudder from day one. i didn't think there was anything wrong because i had driven many standard transmission vehicles over the years and figured it was supposed to act that way. in january of 2018, i had stopped at a red light on a busy street in colorado springs, co where i live. the light turned green and my car would not shift out of 1st gear or go faster than 5 mph. i pulled to the side of the road and after sitting there for 20 minutes and shifted the gears box from park to neutral to drive, i finally got back on the road and the car shifted but very slowly. this was on a sunday. the next day i made an service appointment with phil long ford where i purchased the vehicle. they knew immediately what the problem was and told me it would be covered under warranty. i took the car in to them that week and they ran the vin and it was not in the warranty batch to replace the clutches. they called ford and asked them to cover the repair. ford declined. the service adviser gave me ford's 800 customer service line. they built a case based on my information. a day later i received a phone call and email telling me that it was not covered under warranty and ford would not give me any financial assistance. phil long ford estimated the repair at $2,200.00 but since ford would not cover the cost and i purchased the fiesta from them, they did the repair for $1,500.00 out of pocket cost. i'm just a simple working man and can't afford those types of repairs. i had to put the charge on my credit card. i will not purchase another ford due to their total lack of concern and not taking responsibility. the car still doesn't operate properly.

Problems with car stuck in park and not starting vehicle was stationary, have been stuck twice for same thing

Vehicle displayed inaccurate fuel info (mpg, miles til empty) and would stall after fueling; dealership noted that defective canister purge valve was the cause

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving 80 mph, the vehicle stalled and the immobilizer malfunction warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to stivers ford lincoln (4000 eastern blvd, montgomery, al 36116) where it was diagnosed that the pcm /high speed module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue and did not assist. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 30,000.

Tcm circuit failure. faulty transmission the software has been updated on this vehicle twice and i am still as of november 20, 2018 , having dificulty with the shift transmission.

I was driving in the highway and the lights on my car started flickering and then the hill start assist came on. my car will not shift properly and states transmission malfunction. the tcm was installed less than 1 year ago on a recall notice. i'm afraid to drive my car now because i'm not sure what's going to happen next. what's the warranty on this part?

Purchased a used 2014 ford fiesta, after a month of purchase, i began to have major mechanical issues with the car. the car wouldn't start and even stopped while driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked, lunged forward, and hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact noticed an abnormal burning odor coming from the front driver and passenger side. the contact had to release the accelerator pedal in order for the vehicle to resume normal operation. the vehicle was taken to vance ford lincoln (510 n main st, miami, ok 74354, (800) 725-4431) where it was diagnosed that the driveline needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 57,747.

I had both recalls regarding the computer module reprogramming performed (#14m02 and #15b22) but my car still experiences sputtering between gears. took the car in for another recall regarding the door latches on 7/10/17 and during the transmission check, my ford service representative told me that i had a faulty dual clutch failed and that it needed to be replaced. cost of replacement is over $2000 at all american ford in hackensack so due to the expensive financial burden, i unfortunately declined to have the service performed to replace the dual clutch shudder. according to this article from a local news station in north carolina (http://wlos.com/news/news-13-investigates/ford-sued-over-faulty-transmissions-in-some-focus-fiestas) "in 2014, ford extended the powertrain warranty on the vehicles from 5 years and 60,000 miles to 7 years and 100,000 miles to cover the clutch shudder but only on cars built before june of 2013." unfortunately, my car was assembled after that time. i mentioned this to my ford service representative upon pickup of my vehicle and he acknowledged and admitted that the transmission in fiestas in 2014 are the same and that ford probably should issue a recall vehicles made after june of 2013. ford should do the right thing and extend the warranties to all 2014 ford fiestas just as they did for fiestas and focuses made before june 2013.

When i try to accelerate my car shudders. when i go from the brakes and try the gas pedal my car jerks and has issues accelerating. i have been to the dealership several times for this problem all they do is reprogram. it is good for 2-3 days then goes back to jerking and shuddering. these problems occur most when i'm pulling out of driveways and partying lots from a stopped position trying to increase speed. i have had a few close calls because my car has problems speeding up when i'm on the expressway too. i got the car used at 20000 miles. the dealership when i brought it in for the first time in november 2016 told me it was normal for my car to have transmission problems. after several visits the problem was never fixed. *tt

Bought from car max 2015, 2016 february extreme shuddering from transmission ford fixed for free new clutch plate. 2017 february would not start, car completely shut down on driver, transmission malfunction -- fix now. that's what it said on the warning lights plus the wrench. dealer towed car. technician stated while driving it died twice jerked violently upon acceleration from stop.north central ford dallas texas when we called them initially was told this model it would keep happening because transmission design was faulty. they said could not complete test drive because vehicle was low on fuel,? they top off cars all of the time and did not complete test drive.?

Car stalled in middle of an intersection. the lights and all warning buzzers started to flash then the car locked up and i was stuck in the car and couldn't get out. the tow truck driver had to jimmy stick the door to get me out, the dealer found that the tcm transmission module was at fault, and was replaced, the car was extremely unreliable after this repair. ford refuses to repair the vehicle even though the car is under full factory warranty. they are refusing to acknowledge a serious issue exists. i keep bringing the car to dealerships and ford won't authorize needed repairs. i could have been killed in this last issue.

Vehicle stationary in driveway. completely dead, no lights, power, nothing. vehicle has been to dealer 5 times for same issue. first time had only 1,364 miles. dealer has no fix. recharges battery and returns to me. case opened with ford, they will not buy back vehicle. resolution from ford each time: bring back to dealer every time it happens for battery recharge. tcm module replaced. did not fix problem.

The car shutters in between gears when accelerating. it has been "fixed" by the recall 4 times but continues to have this problem. ford says i teach my car bad habits by slowly accelerating. how do they expect me to drive in rush hour traffic? i'm worried i'm going to hit someone. they refuse to write me a slip for getting my tcm updated. i attached a picture of the only documentation they give me.

My car surges forward almost squealing tires, it makes noise it clunks out at stop feels like my tranny is going to drop and doesn't shift correctly. transmission is obviously in safe i am afraid i am going to hit someone from behind the way it surges at times it also sputters and moves down hill when stopped drags when driving up hill. i had to take it in they replaced modular and tranny seal. but it still happens. *tr

My vehicle starts shrugging & shivering when i push on the gas pedal. the shiver is at times too hard to control and can't focus on driving. this has been the fourth time with the same clutch issue and the dealer says i got to live with the problem until they get a new clutch ordered which is 21 weeks from now. i have a kid at the back seat and not comfortable to drive. *tr

Automatic transmission, slips gear as you accelerate from 1st to 2nd gear from a stop, between 10-20 mph. dealer states that the clutch needs to be replaced at 32,212 miles.

I bought my 2014 ford fiesta in december 2013 and shortly after this the car began to shudder when accelerating from a stop or slower speeds. i have taken it back to the dealer from which it was bought for this issue and it was resolved for some time, but the issue is now resurfacing. the fiesta tends to shudder and hesitate when trying to accelerate and has made it dangerous at intersections or when trying to speed up to enter a highway.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving 10 mph, the contact noted that the vehicle jerked and shuddered during gear changes. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the second time, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed again and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the approximate failure mileage was 21,000. the vin was unavailable.

The car started not accelerating when gas was pushed, delayed then caught and jerked like transmission was bad, also the gas milage got worse after owning a little over a year. almost hit by semi-truck getting on the interstate because car wouldn't accelerate! in town, at lights, would jerk when at a stop or at take off, almost causing people behind or front of me to hit me. took it to one local dealer, said they adjusted the (tcm) transmission control module and in about 1000 miles it would be corrected and we should see better gas milage and no jerking or issues with acceleration.. didn't happen, took to a different ford dealer near us, they said no parts to fix it. one month later called them back about part, and they said "no known fix from ford at this time". they said we could just leave the car with them if we didn't feel safe driving it, they would add it to 3 other ones out back!!!. took the car back to our original dealer bought it from and they offered no apology and said we could trade it on another one of their cars.. no thanks. highly disappointed in ford... thought they were much better company. safety apparently not an issue with them.. i called ford corporate and opened a case number on the issue, only to have my case closed within one day because they deemed the car "within working parameters" after saying they discussed it with the dealers we took it to for repair. when i asked what that meant, they said couldn't tell me because it was ford confidential information!. now no one at ford corp. will return my calls, or the dealer i took the car back too. lost all contact with ford at this point. seeking a lawyer to see options on how to salvage some issue that will hit my credit rating, since i basically won't be making payments on it anymore and gave it back to the dealer. shame on ford!!!!!! selling cars they know have an issue....

Car shudders in stop an go traffic between 1-5 seconds in 1st gear and 2nd gear after the car is warm/hot from driving on the highway. car shudders on turns randomly on side streets/city streets. when the car is hot after highway driving it has difficulty accelerating, specifically a delay after stopping at a light when turning left between 2-3 seconds. the transmission makes a rattle noise between neutral, 1st gear, 2nd gear and sometimes 3rd gear no matter where i'm driving or for how long. when i turn the car off after putting it into park on hot days the car will make a big jerk and loud noise from the transmission. to make a note this did not happen just on a specific day but continuously over the 2 years (mostly during the summer and very little during the winter) i have had the car even after 5 complaints to ford and multiple transmission module updates. *tr

Transmission module failed for the third time. lurches, engine revs, no power, fails to go. ford parts are on backorder for 30 days or more.

2014 ford fiesta 1.6l with " power shift " dual clutch 6 speed transmission purchased this vehicle in april 2016, used with 36,675 miles ford factory certified ( cp0 ), within 1200 miles the transmission would slip and shudder up hills, dealer preformed an adaptive relearn on the tcm, corrected the problem for a short period of time. shudder and grinding noise in reverse, then as well as in forward gears happened approximately 3 months and 10,00 miles after purchase of the car. took car back into dealer and dealer stated the clutches failed the required test to determine replacement of the clutches again. ( clutches were replaced at 28k miles with previous owner). dealer stated they would order the clutches and notify when they are available for replacement. this was august 11th 2016 the car had 47,268 miles at time of service. the dealer never issued a rental car even with a problem affecting the transmission was determined. the incident that happen today august 21st 2016 that warranted this complaint is as follows. while stoped at a stop sign on a residential roadway shortly after starting car, my car failed to say stoped and lunged into the roadway and broadsided a car and then even with the brakes fully decompressed the car lurched forward again striking the car again after trying to turn away from the car to prevent the impact. impact was minor as the transmission was causing the movement and my brakes were fully decompressed. the class action lawsuit addressed the involuntary engagement of the transmission causing the issues of lurching forward without user input. there is no open recalls on this vehicle. to date nothing that ford has done has corrected the problem permanently and this has caused an excessive depreciation of value in this vehicle. i personally do not feel safe operating this car.

Transmission control module has been a recall on my car since 3 months after my purchase. everytime i take the car in to be serviced they all say the same thing "nothing is wrong" but i have my cars vehicle health reports the past years and they all say the recall is an error my car has left me on the side of the road having to be towed, also had them suggest buying a new battery after a year is ridiculous, also the fan motor on the car has been replaced 2 times and the vehicle still overheats today as we speak. i bought this car brand new and it has been a awful worry everyday driving will it overheat or is the transmission going to go today? i believe this car has been a lemon from the day i bought it. ford has also accepted their part in the transmission by offering to extend the warranty from 36000 to 150000. they know this is a problem. ford is having me take my car to dealers all over trying to get them to fix the transmission all of the dealers say the same thing nothing is wrong. i would like the peace of mind i deserve from my new car purchase i pay my payment every month why cant i have that peace of mind? i have to leave work everytime they want me to take the car elsewhere and i bought this car for peace of mind. why is it no one wants to do anything about it. a lemon is a lemon and another vehicle should be offered or something this is not right. 2 years of this constant battle over what is wrong with the car, why have the vehicle health report option if you want me to ignore what it is telling me> i don't get it.

I got a notice in the mail about the tcm. had the clutch module replaced when i bought the car new. still shutters when going from 1st to 2nd. almost costed me an accident when pulling out of my driveway because it didnt want to engage. after this car is paid off... i will never buy an american car again. btw. ford tells me there is nothing they can do until the tcm fails completely.
