We have classified the 145 complaints from 2014 Ford Fiesta about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
The car has significant issues with the transmission, which has been res configured about four to five times. car vibrates and has issues with accelaration. dealers won't do anything but warranties keep getting extended by ford. i started having the issue about six months after buying the car and it keeps happening.
Purchased car in june 2014 and in september 2014 i began seeing the transmission module recall every time i did a vehicle health report took it in every time the report came back, every time the ford place i bought it said they could do nonthing to help in early march the transmission completely quit and i had to have it towed only to have the ford place tell me that i had to replace the battery. the car was barely 1 1/2 years old and so i did and they said that i could keep bringing the car back but ford would not let the fix the module due to whatever. they did extend the transmission warranty from 36k to 60 k which leads me to this point i have had the car back at the dealer at least 3 more times each time i have to leave the car and it never gets fixed the milage is at 59 k now and i took it to a different dealer in another town today and they said it was fixed and i came back to work and did another vehicle health report and it is still showing as a factory recall i will upload the report to you. also so the car has had to have a new fan put on it 2 different times for overheating i cant afford to have all this work done this car has caused me more pain than i can deal with. i have tried to trade the car and am upside down i have only this vehicle and must work and have never had such horrible luck with a new car this car is the most i have ever spent almost $17000. it is not right for this to be happening. when the car broke down and the transmission would do nothing i was stranded on the highway, i have complain with ford and the dealer since i bought this car and nothing ever gets done.
My vehicle is a part of the class action against the power train. ford will not pay for the cost of the repairs.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced difficulty driving up an incline. the contact stated that the vehicle would immediately roll backwards. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission software needed to be reset. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not provided.
When i accelerate on take off my car shutters bad and i need to know what to do
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving, the vehicle hesitated to switch gears and shook uncontrollably. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be updated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 54,000.
My car only has 21,000+ miles on it. my transmission started making grinding sounds, high pitch sequel, surging, hesitating, not shifting (up or down), bucking, would not start. these actions happened at all speeds (low, medium and freeway), at full stops, going uphill/downhill
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving 15 mph, the gear shift failed. while trying to accelerate, the vehicle made loud noises, shook violently, jumped, and lunged forward. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the failure continued to occur intermittently. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
Transmission malfunction. i bought this vehicle brand new in february 2014, several months later i noticed the vehicle would shudder, shake and jerk when taking off from a stop light or simply slowing down and speeding up. ford dealership said it was due to the computer "learning how i drive". i gave it some time and even traveled cross country from az to nc and had problems the whole way. in 2015, i finally had it with how dangerous it was becoming to drive and took it in to complain again. this time they said it was due to a leaking clutch which they replaced in a few days. about 6 months later the problem began to occur again and i took it in to ford for testing again. they said there was a recall for the clutch and it would take a couple months to get the new clutch in. it is now march 2016 and today, an hour away from home, the vehicle suddenly lost speed in the middle of the drive with vehicles all around, the dashboard check engine light came on along with a notification that said the transmission had malfunctioned and needed to be serviced now. i immediately drove straight to the nearest ford with hazards lights on as the vehicle could not maintain its speed. i am tired of all these problems with this car it is not safe to drive.
Car is 2 years old exactly, transmission no longer working, only 20,000 miles on car. will accelerate on own when coming to a stop sign or red light, will grind, crank and crunch when shifting gears all the while jolting when shifting gears. have been jolted into a crosswalk when pressing on the breaks due to the car downshifting. is not safe at all to drive with children in the car due to the unpredictability of the transmission.
I purchased a 2014 fiesta with 17k miles in january 2016. so far it has been in the shop longer than i have owned it. 2 weeks for them to reprogram the tcm, replace a faulty seatbelt, and replace blown speakers. no loaner. now the clutches have failed. they put me in a loaner to diagnose the problem and now want me to return the loaner and drive my car with no clutch while they wait for parts. i have refused to return the loaner until my car is fixed. i've escalted it all the way up to corporate and no one will help me or get back to me. every car payment i have made has been when i do not have the car to drive. i'm getting really frustrated. 20 days in service now. this car is not safe to drive with a broken clutch. it accelerates erratically and will not go uphill without shaking violently. it is dangerous to myself and others but ford is too cheap to pay for a loaner and my safety is of no concern to them.
Transmissions is faulty. car shakes, shudders, and hesitates during shift change as well as braking. ford is aware of nationwide problem. they are replacing part with same faulty part.
The car is having acceleration issue. you need to press heavy on the gas for it to move from stop position or on a slight slope. when driving the car at times will jerk when you try to speed up on the highway to merge lanes. the rpm at times will jump. the issue is a safety concern especially on the highway. today the car would not go up a slope. the started to roll back. this is a real issue when there is snow. i'm scared to drive the car. i have taken it to the deal ship 2 times now. last time i took it they noted that no fault found at this time.. so i guess nothing was fixed. i noticed the issue within the 1st year and the deal ship said the needs at least 20km and computer system will kick in or something to that fact.
Takata recall : the transmission issue makes my car feel unsafe. at random and quite often while driving, my car's transmission will tremble and shake which disables me from driving at the correct speed. merging onto highways can be quite dangerous because i cannot speed up correctly with this transmission issue. the issue with the transmission is with turning, with out turning, with speeding up, from stop going into motion, and it includes both city street and highway. it has been an ongoing issue. i have taken it into the dealer with no improvement and am taking it back again. this has been an ongoing since i purchased it brand new, and feels like it has gotten worse. i no longer feel safe nor can tolerate these issues.
Takata recall i recently purchased a 2014 ford fiesta automatic at a ford dealership in elizabethton tn, the salesman took me for a drive around the parking lot, the car only had a little over 19,000 miles on it with one owner.... but now i release why the owner traded the car in, after you drive it for a few hours the transmission really acts up.... i have almost been hit from the rear twice now while driving it, cause in first and second gear the car shakes like the whole front end is falling apart, and will not take off for a few seconds while doing that. so with this car you have to make sure nothing is coming for a long ways before you pull out, cause if you think you can pull out in a hurry forget it cause your shake all over in this car, and shudder before it engages to take off.... a very dangerous car that should of never been released by ford to sale to the public.... this car and any like it that ford has put out to sale should all be recalled and made to put a real transmission in these cars, before someone gets killed, cause now i am afraid to even drive this car cause of how it acts up..
Vehicle shudders at shift points, sometimes violently. problem is intermittent, and usually only when the vehicle is warmed up. sometimes takes several seconds to actually shift into a gear. usually occurs at 10-15 mph, and/or 20 - 25 mph. i have taken the vehicle in three times to have this checked; first time they were unable to detect anything wrong. second time they said it was a warranty issue and reset the tcm; but it only got worse from there. last time i took it in, they said it was within range but i don't think it was sufficiently warmed up for them to have properly tested it. still shimmies and rumbles at shift points once it's warmed. date of most recent service at the ford dealer is entered below.
I bought the car in sep 2015. about two weeks after having the car, i noticed the car would stall/shake/jolt between 20-30 mph. it gets to the point were the just does not accelerate at all. this is a huge concer for safety of myself and my family. i have done research and it seems like ford is doing nothing about. this is not safe drive. ford needs to fix the problem. i am now stuck with a lemon that nobody wants, and now im stuck making payments on a crap car.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the gears made an abnormal noise, the vehicle shuttered, and the clutch lost power. the dealer provided a software update; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the clutch assembly was replaced, but it did not correct the condition. the vehicle was taken back again for a software update, but the vehicle was still not repaired. the vehicle remained parked at the contact's residence due to the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 27,000.
Automatic transmission shifts to a manual transmission function within 30 seconds of up hill holding function and rolls back into other cars. this has occured on my car after the recent ford fix to their transmission design that fixed the rough automatic transmission shifting on the original design. the sequence is: come to a stop at a stop light on a hill, car holds the normal automatic transmission function of holding the car's position, but within 30 seconds the transmission assumes a manual transmission function and begans to roll backwards into the car behind you. took the car to the ford garage (gillis auto center, shelton, wa 98584) was told that this was a ford design (deficiency) and there was nothing that they could do to fix it. there is no safety notice put out by ford on the problem.
Allow me to be #100 for complaints on the 2014 ford fiesta!! maybe after 100 complaints ford motor company will do something to help us all !! purchased the new 2014 ford fiesta in august 2014. by the time i went in for my first oil change i was having problems with the car shaking, jerking, slipping, shuddering upon light acceleration on gas from a complete stop. then the car is slow to gain speed to keep up with traffic. i've expressed my complaint/problem with the service technician at the dealership where i purchased the car and he said it's normal, people complain about the same issue all the time and there's nothing they can do about it. as of today's date the problem still exist, i've been back to the dealership with the same complaint and nothing has ever been resolved. and i can tell it's getting worse everyday. this is my only transportation.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving in a parking lot and attempting to shift gears, the gear failed to engage and the vehicle failed to accelerate. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the clutch was defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 6,000.
Have had my car repaired 5 times for transmission (clutch) issues. including, but not limited to: lunging into intersections when transmission engages, not responsive at take off. chugging at take off, missed shifts. car has less than 31,000 miles
Transmission hesitates and shudders when accelerating from stop or at low speeds. has done this on the street when leaving a stop sign, when accelerating/turning into a busy street from a parking lot, and also while going about 15mph (slowed down for car ahead of me to turn, then as i accelerated i got the shuddering feeling).
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. the vehicle was repaired under an extended manufacturer's warranty where the transmission control module was reprogrammed and the clutch was replaced. when the vehicle was started and attempted to accelerate, it would not accelerate past 10 mph after the engine management service now warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
Car shakes and shutters violently while accelerating. happens all the time.
Transmission shutters on accell, its jers and slips when going up hills and when going into park, it bucks when driving and recently started swearing out of of control.... most bucking and shutters when acelling or merging into traffic...it bucks most when stop and then making a turn
Engine light came on in the middle of traffic on span leading to the gw bridge-message stated transmission hot, turn off vehicle for 6 minutes. second message was "stop or speed-up" i had to navigate the car to the shoulder in rush hour and turn the car off. i called the dealer since it had been serviced a little over a week ago. they were suppose to address the recall items and reported transmission problem of excessive vibration of the transmission. very dangerous!!!!!
The car has 17250 miles on it. i have been having transmission problems. shuddering, shaking, jerking, jolting, sudden or delayed acceleration have all been problems. low speeds seem to be an issue with it. it seems to shudder in between 1st and 2nd gears. i also have had it stall while in reverse. i have taken it to the ford dealership, they are aware of the issue, have had multiple complaints, and said they would reprogram the software to make the shift changes more smooth. it is still exhibiting the same issues. harsh shuddering, gears slipping, clicking and noises. it's just a matter of time before this vehicle kills someone. i wasn't told that this car would operate any differently than any other car. the dealership says that all of these symptoms are 'normal' for the kind of transmission that they sold me and that it's still safe to drive. even when i took it in to get reprogrammed for the shuddering, the technician said that "it's still going to do it." what?! it wasn't doing it before and now you want me to deal with a shuddering vehicle? and you say you still can't fix it? that's terrible. i've owned ford's all my life and this is my first new car and i feel like i've made a terrible decision and it's barely got 20,000 miles on it. more importantly, the safety. i've had more than one close call with trying to accelerate and the transmission not responding in enough time to get out of the way. operates unlike any other vehicle i've owned and not in a good way.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving approximately 30 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle shook violently and jerked forward without warning. while the brake pedal was depressed on an incline, the vehicle drifted backwards and crashed into a tree. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 18,000. the vin was unavailable.
The transmission caused the car to rev up while driving or to jerk as if the vehicle is about to stall. *tr
Shuddering upon turning right, left, take off during accelration. it was in motion, charleston sc. was afraid to pull out in traffic
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle jerked and hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch assembly, fuel assembly, plate cylinder, cylinder assembly, and transmission fluid needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
Problem is the transmission failed to engage when i pressed on the gas petal to go, it took almost a full second after pressing the accelerator, i would estimate, before the transmission would engage into 1st gear. i have had it happen before to a lesser extent, all randomly, so i never know when it will or won't go when i press on the gas petal. very dangerous if you need to cross traffic and the car just sits there then decides to shoot you out into oncoming traffic. i also had problems with shuddering at low speeds, and hard shifting from 4th to 5th gear.
I purchased this vehicle new in 12/2014. when purchasing, it was represented as having an automatic transmission. the window sticker also identifies as an automatic trans. the car hesitates when starting from a stop positon. shifting is irregular and the engine races between various shifts, i.e. often between first and second shift. during this period, i loose complete control of the vehicle. when driving a higher speeds above 40 miles/hour, when depressing the accelerator, it will not down shift for more power acceleration. when starting from a stopped position, there is like a grinding noise. i have take this vehicle to the ford dealership on 4 separate occasions to which they tested the computer and transmission and dismiss my complaint. the service representatives say that this is not an automatic transmission but instead a manual shift trans. and this is what you can expect. the performance of the transmission is not predicable and i find myself on guard having to constantly be cautious of unexpected performance such as hesitation and delayed responses.
Clutch fails to catch properly when changing gears. sometimes when downshifting, it will go into neutral for a second or two, then catch at a high rpm causing a sudden lurch forward potentially causing an accident. when in stop and go traffic, or coming to a red light turning green, the braking and accelerating pattern confuses the transmission, often guessing the wrong gear to shift into, exacerbating the aforementioned issue. particularly when slowing down for turns, and then accelerating during or after the turn, the gears will grind and fails to properly transmit adequate power, causing potentially causing a t-bone accident when doing a left turn or causing a rear end accident when turning right onto traffic. when changing from forward into reverse, the clutch fails to catch for a second or two, and when it catches at a high rpm for being in neutral so long, it causes a sudden jolt backwards, potentially causing an accident. at lower speeds (<20 mph) the gears grind when shifting, especially when turning. this has been an issue about a year after buying the car, within 20000 miles. the issue has only gotten progressively worse.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle shuttered and hesitated to accelerate. the contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and repaired, but details from the diagnostic and repair could not be provided. the contact stated that the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 37,000. updated 10/21/16*lj *the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired.*js
This 2014 ford fiesta vehicle has some major transmission issues: slipping, clunking, chugging, jerking, shuttering, and rattling when doing something as simple as pressing the gas pedal to accelerate when a traffic light turns green. this issue also occurs when i begin to come to a complete stop. i've only had the car for about five months and the issues have occurred throughout that time period. i have taken this vehicle to a ford repair shop. the mechanic completed a reprogramming of some type. he informed me that the reprogramming typically resolves the issues that this vehicle is having; but the issues still remain, in fact, it's gotten worse. the hesitation of this vehicle to accelerate leaves me feeling unsafe. motorists in passing vehicles are zooming by me as i am attempting to get this car to go. in addition, when i firmly press the gas petal, the car hesitates then begins to accelerate at a rapid speed. these issues occur while i am driving on the interstates, highways, streets, dirt roads, etc. it also does not matter if i am making a turn, shifting in drive or in reverse...the issues remain the same. ford needs to be held accountable for these issues. it is terrible that they would not be concerned about the safety of their consumers. these safety issues were not mentioned on the carfax report. if they had been then i would not have purchased this vehicle.
When accelerating, the car will shake as it goes into first gear. as the car continues to accelerate the car will shake for about 5 seconds and then launch forward it is only a matter of time before the delay causes me to get hit, or the launching forward causes me to hit someone else. this is a continuous issue that started happening in my car about 1 year after purchase, and has gotten continuously worse
See attached statement word document for full details. i have owned this car for two years now, i purchased it in december of 2014. at the time i was commuting 120 miles daily to support a project. i was very early on the car began to jerk and shake. i retuned it first for a defective tire, defective backup sensor and unsafe transmission functionality. kings ford (cincinnati oh) replaced the tire (i had to pay for the tire), replaced the backup sensor (warranty) and 'reset/updated' the transmission controls firmware. after this, i retuned the vehicle multiply times for unsafe transmission functionality. after about two more times of kings ford 'resetting/updating' the transmission controls firmware they finally replaced the clutches. this was at 20,000 miles. since then i have taken the car to kings ford two more times for unsafe transmission functionality. each time they 'reset/updated' the transmission controls firmware. yesterday, i called ford roadside to pickup the car and return it to kings ford due to unsafe transmission functionality. also, i have another faulty tire and the air handing actuators in the dash are making grinding sounds. i have had multiply near accidents due to the vehicles unsafe transmission functionality. the vehicle has disabled itself in high speed interstate traffic. i had navigate the car from the fast lane to the right shoulder without any available power. i narrowly missed a set of large commercial trucks! once at the side of the road, i had to cycle the ignition before the car would respond to accelerator inputs. there have been multiply other instances where the car fails to accelerate correctly when merging into traffic'nearly being rear ended, certainly leading to a few road rage incidents.
When putting the car into reverse it would grind and kick it into netural, shifting to 2nd to 3rd the stick shift woild make me go to 5th instead then go back to 3rd. jerking when turning at an intersection making it difficult to make a safe turn.
I am buying and paying for an unsafe and worthless car. can you help? i am 66 with little income. this car shudders and hesitates often. i was told by ford dealer in hutto, tx, that i have to bring it in when it shudders and they will check it and orders parts that will take 2 months. the "shudder" happens on and off, so chances of this happening when i take it to dealer are per chance. the service person at the dealership told me many people are just leaving these fiestas. i cannot do that. i bought it used from enterprise car rental. they will not respond to my emails. i cannot afford to keep paying on this vehicle. i never know if it will go forward when i step on the gas or not. please help me. what can i do? i was sold a horrible car. *js
When attempting to enter a highway from a ramp as i attempted to accelerate into traffic the transmission shook and the car slowed almost causing a rear end collision . this has been a continuous problem no control over car speeding up or slowing down on its own at times.
Transmission shifts hard and rattles the car. also causing wheel spin when shifting. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle jerked and the gears shifted automatically without warning. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
We purchased the car lightly used and are the second owner. we bought it with about 7,500 miles on the odo. when accelerating from a stop, the transmission shutters and vibrates, sometimes violently causing a pause in the acceleration which has sometimes been problematic in tough traffic situations. if stopped on a hill and trying to accelerate, the car struggles between 1st and 2nd gear and to accelerate. we view this as a major safety concern. upon taking it to the dealership three times, they common answer is that "it acts that way because it has a transmission that is a manual transmission linked with an automatic" and no attempt is ever made to fix the problem. only one time, they did a computer update, but the problem still existed, and so we took it back and received the answer given above. the transmission does not function safely or appropriately, and should be recalled. it has caused us a lot of stress when getting on highways or major roadways because of the acceleration (or lack of) issue. plus when the car jolts, shakes, and vibrates violently, you feel like the whole car is going to break apart.
This vehicle has a transmission that causes bucking, kicking, jerking, harsh engagement, rough shifts, shuddering, delayed acceleration, red-lining prior to shifting, and feeling like it is returning to neutral during stop. this issue has been turned over to the dealer service center and ford motor service. both claim there is a clutch isse that is not a life safety issue and will not damage the vehicle long term. both claim the parts are on back order and should be installed in 3-8 months.
2014 ford fiesta auto with 4982 has developed a serious juddering and loss of power when moving away from stand still or accelerating at low speed. this has caused problems entering major roads and on testing the problem i had to move over quickly to a side turn to prevent an 18 wheeler running in the back of the fiesta. moving off forward is very jerky and reversing has the same problem. this seriously affects the ability to drive this vehicle safely and in less experienced hands will lead to serious accidents. i have many years experience in motor sport, road testing vehicles and have passed the institute of advanced motorists in the uk, one of the most difficult driving tests in the world today. the ford fiesta in question is used on the roads of florida usa in my opinion there should be a major recall before there is a fatality. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fiesta. while driving 15 mph, the vehicle jerked and hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 5,405.
Since i purchased the vehicle in september 2013 i have been having issues with the vehicle accelerating, stalling, and jerking forward. on thursday, january 15, 2015 at 8:00 pm i was driving and the engine light randomly turns on and the vehicle clicks on and off, the vehicle stalls and i almost hit the car in front of me. there have been several instances where i almost got into car accidents because of the transmission on this vehicle. currently going back and forth with the dealer every time who states a certain amount of variation such as shuddering and jerking is normal with these transmissions however this car is not safe. i can only hope that enough people will complain where something will be done soon to get these cars into operable driving conditions. *tr
When the car is stopped in traffic and i push the pedal to accelerate and there is a delayed reaction. when the car finally does accelerate, it does it in a "hopping" motion. when the car gets up to 20mph, it starts shaking and doesn't stop until i accelerate even further. sometimes the car has acceleration problems at higher speeds, but most frequently has acceleration problems at lower speeds. it feels like the transmission is slipping and sometimes the car is jerky while driving. *tr
