My 2016 ford f150 with engine block heater caught fire today 14 february 2020 at 11:12 am. it was moving and caught fire when i parked the truck

I was completing a 3 hour drive of approximately 120 miles (i had less than 5 miles to go till i arrived at my destination) when my sensors started lighting up my message board and dash system. i was in the left turn lane to enter the on-ramp to us65 south when this happened so i pulled off to the shoulder to investigate. i had just put my truck in park when a car pulled up and said that my engine was on fire. when i got out to look, the fire was rolling out from under the drivers side wheel well. as well, there was either a fluid or melted plastic dripping down to the asphalt that was also on fire. the fire appeared to put itself out, for the most part, prior to the fire company arriving within the next 10 minutes. i had, what i believed to be at the time, recall work done by mike raisor ford in lafayette, in, less than 1 year ago. in that recall work, i thought the block heater was disconnected so as to prevent an engine fire such as this. now, i am having doubts as to whether this was ...

Vehicle engine shakes and shuts off when stopped and at idle. this happens after vehicle warms up and has been driven for at least 15 minutes. i have read many other complaints about ford trucks doing the same thing. have read that ford is aware of problems with variable cam timing sensors and cam phasers, but are not issuing recall. this has happened to me at leadt 6 times.

Engine stalls while driving. this has happened multiple times where multiple warning lights will flash on the dashboard such as the collision detection being disabled and the electronic stability control has been disabled. as soon as these warnings appear, the truck's acceleration is disabled and it will coast to stop, but he truck is still running. it remains in a low idle that is very rough, vibrating the entire truck like it's about to kill the engine, but barely keeping the idle high enough to keep it going. this has happened at different speeds and there is nothing you can do, but try to pull off the road. once stopped, you can put the truck in park and turn the truck off and back on. sometimes only one restart is required, but sometimes it will do the same thing again shortly after you begin driving again. this can be extremely dangerous as this can happen in an intersection, highway, or freeway. there is no warning when this is about to happen.

The truck began to make a loud, clunky noise, allthewhile it was slowing down and then eventually came to a stop and was not driveable anymore. we were driving in a neighborhood when it stalled. it would not move. it would turn on, but it would not accelerate. it still made the clunky, loud noise.

Vehicle stalls while in motion, sitting stationary at a stoplight, or in park. vehicle has stalled multiple times driving down the interstate at 55+ and leaves the driver unable to control vehicle and creates a safety hazard to the driver and others on the road.

Attempting to accelerate, no power. vehicle was on 2 lane highway with concrete barriers on both sides and no shoulder. i was going approx 70 mph. i had our toddler, new born and wife in then vehicle. vehicle slowed faster than i have ever felt before. cars and trailers slamming on brakes. i'm assuming this did not trigger my brake lights and it was almost dark. so incredibly dangerous not to mention scary. dash warnings indicated no traction control, hill decent or abs. dealer is replacing the throttle body. this was a catastrophic and dangerous flaw.

Hill descent control fault/ service advancetrac warning suddenly turned on. alternated w service light. but i was just driving home from work on a 70 degree day on a dry paved road decelerating from a 40mph zone to a 30 mph zone up a slight incline. i wasn't using hill descent and traction was fine. the disturbing part was the vehicle suddenly ran rough and had no power. i could not get it to run well enough pull it over out of the traffic lane. an on off cycle returned function for a few seconds and i got around the corner before the fault occurred again. with no hills the last block i got to my driveway where a longer off period returned the vehicle to function. this type of sudden power loss could cause an accident.

Truck experienced multiple sensor failures over several months that reset. failures include car stalling in intersection, blind spot monitoring, back up sensors, car shutting off and turning back on on its own. car had to be powered down and shut off for 30 seconds before being allowed to restart. most recent failure resulted in truck horn going off as well as car turning off while going 35-40 mph then restarting on its own - car surged forward after it restarted itself. at the same time hazards coming on, doors unlocking and locking and rear tailgate opening. after bringing car to a complete stop, shut off car and it turned itself back on (horn went off, hazards went on, doors unlocked and locked, and rear tail gate released). towed to dealership for repairs and they were unable to recreate the problem.

Bought the truck a year and a half ago the engine has blown and now the brake master cylinder is went out probably be the brake booster next they should be reliable for this i'm 100 miles over my warranty and they were still on fix it

Started driving am for about 5-7 miles and getting on an on ramp to freeway vehicle suddenly had no power and idle very rough/ could not accelerate and service engine light, hill assist not active and another service light came on. pulled over to the side of road and sat for about 30 seconds, turned vehicle off and re started, no fault warning lights were on and all was fine. drove 22 miles to dewey ford in ankeny, iowa told them what happened and they asked if any fault lights were still on and i said no and they told me they wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem without a fault light being on. they said it could be water in the fuel and suggested a couple cans of sea foam and to top fuel off with premium/no alcohol. did that, drove an additional 22 miles with out any problems. researched similar problems by others and electronic throttle body came up. will update if i have another incident.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. while driving approximately 65 mph, "see service manual, traction control not available, check engine" illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle lost power and the accelerator pedal did not respond. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road to a complete stop as it began to shake. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, all the warning indicators went away and then illuminated again. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. rich ford (8601 lomas blvd, albuquerque, nm 87112) was contacted via phone. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 49,500.

Throttle body failure: first occurred on original throttle body (oem part) in 2018. vehicle was turned on and stationary in a parking lot. heard a loud knocking, diagnosed at ford dealership. replaced original throttle body with new oem throttle bottle. second occurrence on replacement throttle body (oem part) in june 2019. vehicle was in motion on an interstate, wrench light came on, putting the truck in limp mode and the truck stalled. i pulled over on the side of the interstate, turned the truck off, waited several minutes and turned vehicle back on. cleared the fault and was able to continue drive with loud knocking sound occurring like in the first instance.

I had the wrench symbol appear on my dash display and the vehicle stopped, lost power while i was in traffic. it is now at the dealer that sold it to me, but this is scary situation to lose power while driving.

Was driving down the highway at 45 mph, all of a sudden advance track service warning appeared, hill descent off, and truck lost all power and began to idea roughly, could not accelerate, was able to pull off the road. fortunately i have a mechanical background, turned off ignition waited a minute and tried to restart the truck, cranked harder than normal, engine service lite was on, turned off advance track and went a few miles and happened again. went through same steps and restarted vehicle, was able to drive 10 miles to home. when i started the truck this morning the engine service light was off, went a few miles and same thing happened again. this is a definite serious accident waiting to happen. if you are on an interstate go 70 mph in traffic and this would happen most people would not know what to do. doing some online searching this seems to be a problem that ford has failed to address , it must take loss of life before this problem is addressed
