I was completing a 3 hour drive of approximately 120 miles (i had less than 5 miles to go till i arrived at my destination) when my sensors started lighting up my message board and dash system. i was in the left turn lane to enter the on-ramp to us65 south when this happened so i pulled off to the shoulder to investigate. i had just put my truck in park when a car pulled up and said that my engine was on fire. when i got out to look, the fire was rolling out from under the drivers side wheel well. as well, there was either a fluid or melted plastic dripping down to the asphalt that was also on fire. the fire appeared to put itself out, for the most part, prior to the fire company arriving within the next 10 minutes. i had, what i believed to be at the time, recall work done by mike raisor ford in lafayette, in, less than 1 year ago. in that recall work, i thought the block heater was disconnected so as to prevent an engine fire such as this. now, i am having doubts as to whether this was ...
My ford f150's rear window exploded while pulling into an intersection and no impact. the rear defrost was on.
When the temperature drops below 30 degrees the drivers door will not stay latched/shut. currently i cannot get into my truck via the drivers door. i remoted started the truck (outside temp 21 degrees) went to leave so i unlocked the door, got into the truck and attempted to shut the door and it would not latch. i pulled the door shut and hit the lock button and the door latched. i forgot something in my house so i got out of the truck and the door would not latch, i pushed it shut and hit the lock button and went in my house. came out and the door would not open even after being unlocked. rear passenger door is also the same way. this has happened multiple times
Driving down the road we smelled smoke and my back sliding window shattered and blew out. took it to the dealership and they wouldn't give a complete estimate. called ford corp and of course they are dragging their feet. the rear defrost wasn't even activated at the time that it shorted out. i have researched the problem and it has been a major issue with fords for years.
I was hearing a sound coming from front of the truck. it sounded like rocks in a tin can but it was not all the time. had it checked and they told me it was the 4 wheel drive trying to engage on its own. i hardly use the 4x4 system. i had to have the line replaced.
All steering wheel controls/buttons became unresponsive.
The wrench light first came on around 42,000 miles, but would shut off when the vehicle would be turned off. it came on a second and third time around the 50,000 and 51,750 miles. sometimes it would come back on when driving again and sometimes not. then the engine light came on at about 52,000 miles. when this came on, it would stay on. the truck would seem to lose a lot of power and the rpm's would begin revving higher while driving. this would be driving on all road conditions, highway or city, up and down hills. we had the truck in to check and the code it provided was 'dtc s-p0741 torque convertor clutch solenoid circuit performance stuck off. will have to replace tcc and if condition still exists, replace the main valve body.' the first ford dealer (while on vacation) made the repair, but this did not repair the truck. (the wrench light came back on again 131 miles after the repair and the engine light came back on again 40 miles later of the wrench light warning.) took the truck back to the ford dealer we purchased the truck at and they are still trying to ...
Light came on brake fluid low then immediately no brakes going down the road. bad master cyclinder.
If truck is not driven in a few weeks the gas feed sticks in reverse, i have not had it stick in forward. only in reverse, my wife had a accident with this truck. i've had it stick on me but i'm looking for it. ford and the insurance companies say that there is nothing wrong. it has occurred several times with me and i don't let my wife drive the truck.
The sync 3 systems functions poorly or not at all. often times it stalls, freezes or becomes unresponsive which can cause the following to happen. the screen goes black and i am unable to adjust the climate or use the radio. all functions are disabled. the screen get stuck with the backup camera on and all of the controls are disabled, including the climate control. the screen is unresponsive to the touch and the climate control, radio and all other functions do not work. the navigation gets stuck on the screen and the location is inaccurate and you cannot make other changes, including to the climate control. it does not matter if the vehicle is in motion or stationary as the sync 3 system does not function either way. this happens about every time i drive the vehicle but i had to enter a single date in the system. i asked the dealer about this but their response was "did you get the extended warranty?".
While driving i recieved a brake fluid level low warning light. proceded cautiously to work approximately a mile away without any issue. looked at the reservoir and found it to be nearly empty. after the truck sat i went to leave work hoping to make it to a parts store to get brake fluid. got in to start it and the pedal went completely to the floor with no resistance. hitched a ride to get fluid and topped it off. i got back in and headed down the road making it no more than a mile before i completely lost my brakes. after service this was apparently caused by a faulty seal in the master cylinder pumping all the brake fluid into the booster. a problem ford has had with previous model years and recalled. this type of failure leaves no evidence of a leak. this was a sudden and complete loss of the ability to stop my vehicle except for the parking break. dangerous to say the least.
Horn assembly is not working while in motion or parked. the after the month bumper to bumper warranty was up the horn stop working, including sound when using the key to lock/unlock truck, and the panic alarm does not sound. was inform from dealership we will have to pay to have this corrected 433.83. goes back to ford dealer ship on july 15 2019
Third brake light started leaking water into cab which ran down under carpet on driver side causing mold and mildew inside cab which is a very bad health risk for people i cant even drive it because of the mold smell have to replace the complete carpet
Rear defogger on sliding rear window has become completely disconnected. poor design. when automatically opening sliding rear window, the defogger mechanism gets caught on rear seat eventually, this lead to the rear defogger disconnecting and breaking off from his housing.
The doors (especially front driver side) often do not latch shut when the temperature is below freezing. the latch mechanism appears to be freezing. if one doesn't realize the door is not fully latched, it may swing open while on the road. i had to hold the door with one hand in order to prevent the door from swinging open. i will be bringing the truck to the dealer for the 18n03 recall despite the fact that many other f150 owners state that this does not fix the problem in many cases.
