We have classified the 77 complaints from 2015 Ford F-150 about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
Cruise control shuts off during operation. intermittently will not turn on. analog speedometer will indicate speeds in excess of 40mph slower than real speed. stuck at 40mph when comes to complete stop.
Driving down the road today being mindful of the speed limit since i just got a speeding ticket two weeks prior. i looked at the speedometer and it read 62. i know the difference i speed variation just from driver feeling and experience. well i applied the brakes and the speedometer did not move. when i reached my destination i put the car in park and noticed my speedometer was frozen at 40 mph. so now according to the trucks brain 40 mph = 0 mph
Vehicle accelerated of its own accord driving straight on highway. took to dealer (village ford, ocala, fl), they ran black box and did warranty work. a few weeks later, vehicle accelerated again of its own accord while attempting to slow down to make a left turn. vehicle collided into a tree.
I picked up my 2015 ford f150 on thursday of last week because the master cylinder was leaking and caused my wife to lose her brakes while driving on the highway. i drove my truck to our family reunion about an hour and half away on saturday which was 2 days after i had picked my truck up and the cruise control would not shut off by taping the brake. my wife and i were traveling on a highway and i was in the slow lane with the cruise set at 72mph. i was approaching the vehicle in front of me, so i looked in my left mirror and noticed a car coming up beside me. i was unable to pass, so i touched the brakes to disengage the cruise control and i looked back in my mirror again to see if the car beside me was going to pass me soon. my wife then said what are you doing? i told her i am going to pass this car in front of us after the car beside me passed us. she then said well you better slow down because you are about to hit the car in front of us. here my cruise control never disengaged so i touched the brakes 2 more times and nothing happened. i finally had to slam on the breaks and it finally disengaged. i had almost rear ended the car in front of us. i then got into the fast lane and placed the cruise control on again and found out that i was unable to disengage the cruise control by tapping the brakes like you should. i had to push the brake pedal 2/3 of the way to the floor which at this point you are stopping on the highway. this is the third safety issue in less than 1 year that almost caused an accident and that it has been towed to ford. my truck is currently at ford. dec 2018 throttle body went bad and shut off with my wife driving my truck, sept 2019 master cylinder went bad and caused my wife to lose the brakes while on the highway, and sept 2019 cruise control not working properly almost causing an accident.
Randomly the hill start assist control error would come up. additionally, service advance trac error would come up and the truck would go into some sort of limp mode with no acceleration allowed. finally, the truck started running really rough. all these things would happen while i was in motion and or turning. i have been broken down on the side of the highway 4 separate times now. everything is really random and can't be replicated. it's done this about 10 times now and the dealer has no idea how to fix it. my truck has been there for over a week with no remedy.
Driving on highway at 60 mph, climbing slight incline, multiple warnings regarding hill assist, abs, traction control, etc. populate on dash. truck goes in to "limp" mode, steering becomes stiff and speed reduces until it comes to a rough idle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle's throttle completely failed and several unknown warning indicators illuminated. the contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to holmes tuttle ford lincoln (660 w auto mall dr, tucson, az 85705, (866) 930-6255) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 79,500.
When i started the car, put it in drive, the truck went to full throttle on its own without touching the accelerator, and it took off at an excessive speed. i tried braking, but it just threw me into a power slide. so, once i was finally able to straighten the car without flipping it, i could turn loose with one hand and kill the engine. that's the only way it would stop. i was forced to go through the yard with things flying out of the bed of the truck ruining a 5 gallon can of paint we had mixed to paint the inside of the house. i am a professional truck driver, and this scared the death out of me.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine would not restart. the contact attempted to restart the engine; however, the vehicle began shaking and would not stop. also, 'hill descent control fault' and 'service advancetrac" appeared on the instrument panel. the vehicle was towed to paducah ford (3476 park ave, paducah, ky 42001, (270) 444-0011) where it was diagnosed that a new throttle body needed to be installed. the contact planned to have the vehicle repaired this week. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was 104,000.
My 2015 f150 ecoboost has 79,156 miles on it. over the past 3 days the truck has repeatedly lost power while driving in traffic on the highway. the rpm will drop down to 500 rpm, rough idle, no acceleration at all, hill assist light wrench light check engine light passenger air bag light and see owners manual pop up on the instrument panel. took my truck into ford today and they replaced the throttle body under my extende warranty not their emissions warranty as stated in their owners manual of 8 years or 80,000 miles. called ford and they don't know about an emissions warranty in their owners manual. looked online and youtube to discover this problem is not just me and frequent with others. this can really cause a horrible accident. luckily i'm a cdl driver and was able to safely get over on the shoulder this time. i'm not confident replacing the throttle body was a fix as it is a bandage to happen again at any point in time. this truck now is compromised and i wouldn't want any of my family using it or depending on it.
2015 f-150 3.5l ecoboost driving on highway at speeds 60-75mph went to "limp mode" losing all acceleration with warnings "service advance trac" "hill descent control fault" and "hill start assist not available" along with the service wrench light. resulted having to pull over on interstate 10 with busy traffic, also while in the middle of a traffic light turning left. this has happened 6 times. ford dealer has diagnosed this as a throttle body issue and will be replaced at my cost
My ford truck has had issues with lurching while at a stop, hard downshifts. and as of friday night, going from 75 mph on the interstate to a dead standstill as though my transmission locked up. almost created a pileup on interstate 70. then would have rpm btwn 5 to 8 going 20 mph. 2015 model v8 with ecoboost. my year was not part of the recall announced but the symptoms described in that recall fit mine exactly. i am going to file a complaint with ford as well.
Speedometer reads 15 mph when parked and 15 mph more than actual while vehicle is in motion.
I was travelling along at highway speed and suddenly the truck lost responsiveness to the accelerator pedal and went into limp mode. i had to move over to the shoulder of the road rapidly to avoid becoming a hazard to other drivers as my speed was slowing significantly. this has happened on several occasions on both surface streets and on highways/freeways. i have been told that the electronic throttle body is faulty. this fault has created a hazard for me and other drivers due to the sudden loss of power and the hazard that represents on roads with no shoulder.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration and lunged forward. in addition, the traction control and hillside assist warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and was restarted. tamiami ford (1471 airport-pulling rd, naples, fl 34104, (239) 643-3673) repaired the electric throttle body. the vehicle was repaired. the diagnosis information was unavailable. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 38,000.
P2112 obd error code - throttle body closed - while driving at any speed - in this case on the highway - engine would drop to limp mode, various errors display on dash. have to pull over, shut off engine, then restart it to reset. know issue with numerous ford f150 ecoboost and mustang gas engines. this is very dangerous especially if i cannot pull off to the side to shut off the motor. very high possibility of getting rear-ended by other fast moving cars potentially causing harm to driver and others.
Was driving on road with 35mph speed limit, looked down at speedometer and said i was going 85, ever since the speedometer is stuck between 35 and 95, when stopped it lays at 35-40mph. have read many others with similar issues.
Truck goes into limp mode constant in middle of traffic. severe safety hazard for all. throws throttle body code. according to dealer its not covered in yhe recall or whatever ford called it but its gonna get us killed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and failed to accelerate. the contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving 60 mph. the vehicle was taken to jim bass ford (4032 w houston harte expy, san angelo, tx 76901, (325) 949-4621) where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to the throttle body. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 70,300. *tt*jb
2015 ford f-150 ecoboost, bought april 2018 with approx. 67,000 miles, currently at approx. 75,000 miles. i am reporting the sudden loss of accelerating power as the vehicle shudders and stalls both when moving with traffic or accelerating to enter or move with traffic. multiple warning messages including the wrench light flash in the dash message area as the engine slows to idle with no ability to accelerate and comes to a stuttering stop. the first occurrence was three weeks ago and has happened no less than six time since - twice while accelerating onto the freeway (very busy, very fast traffic) and twice while crossing or turning in multi-lane intersections from stopped. four of the six times resulted in my vehicle dying in and obstructing traffic with and me barely getting to the side of the road without an accident. i now shift to neutral to let momentum move the vehicle as i worm through traffic to the side of the road. shutting off and restarting the engine clears or resets the message and sometimes "downhill assist not available" with the check engine light comes on. the check engine light has both stayed on or shut off on restart. i can then drive on the vehicle's own power, though the problem has repeated as soon as two minutes later, or not for days. i have not had to be towed and no accidents have occurred. the north carolina consumer's council filed a lawsuit against ford in 2015 which was settled with ford offering an extended warranty only on the etb (electronic throttle body) of certain model vehicles - all with the ecoboost engine, and multiple customer service actions (csa's) that have since expired. a few minutes on the ford forums online and it is apparent that this is a widespread problem with the ecoboost engine, and ford has offered several bandaids, but none until after the etb has failed and lives been endangered. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed. the failure caused the contact's foot to depress the accelerator pedal simultaneously. the contact stated that the failure occurred many times and it was difficult to depress the brake pedal without also depressing the accelerator pedal. the contact drove to germain ford (2356 heller dr, beavercreek, oh 45434, (937) 429-1300) where it was determined that the issue was normal. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 50,200. the vin was unknown.
The electronic throttle body failed prematurely on my ford f150, causing the vehicle to lose the ability to accelerate and subsequently go into limp mode while traveling at normal speeds (has happened 4 times between 35 and 50 mph). this causes a very dangerous situation trying to get out of traffic and to the side of the road, as well as potential loss of control and handling. a ford dealer attempted to diagnose the problem after 3 incidents, but was unsuccessful and told me the problem may be the throttle body (but they did not replace it).
At times my 2015 f150 loses all power and go to a low power/ "limp mode" setting. cautions received are (1) service advance trac, (2) hill descent control fault, (3) hill start assist not avail, (4) traaction control fault light. when this occurs, the vehicle goes to a very low forward power setting (<5mph), runs extremely rough to the point where the vehicle shakes aggressively. this problem is intermittent in nature, and yesterday was the final straw. this suddent oss of power occurred on a busy road and i nearly got rear ended. i immediately limped off the road and was able to get the vehicle towed to the dealership in castle rock, co. currently i'm standing by for the mechanics diagnosis. of note, i do see several similar write-ups of this problem on the nhtsa site regarding the 2015 f150. ironically, a similar occurrence (ref. nhstsa id#11083485) happened right up the road from me in castle rock, co (4/5/18). i hope ford is aware of this extremely dangerous, recurring problem within its f150 fleet.
While using the adaptive cruise control on my 2015 ford f-150 (king ranch), my truck will confuse a dump truck as a stopped or slow moving vehicle in front of my truck. this will happen if a dump truck is in the lane beside me or in opposing lanes. this occurs at sow and high speeds. multiple times this has occurred at 65mph+ in traffic. the truck will very abruptly apply the breaks and the collision warning system will alert. this has almost caused very serious wrecks due to the speeds that it often occurs. this is also not a seldom occurance, it happens every time i pass by a dump truck. it will occur on any and every street. i took the vehicle to a ford delearship and their solution had no effect on the issue.
There is an existing adaptive cruise control safety recall open for this year, make, and model, but my truck also experiences the exact same issues described by ford on their own site every time i use the adaptive cruise control: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2015/09/30/ford-issues-five-safety-recalls-and-one-safety-compliance-recall.html i'm sure that the existing safety recall needs to be expanded to additional vins within the f-150 range of vehicles. it is extremely dangerous in the way it currently operates.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled. when the vehicle was restarted, it operated normally. the failure occurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to billion auto ford of clear lake (3101 willow creek ct, clear lake, ia 50428, (641) 903-2299) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and motor assembly failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the failure mileage was 84,129.
Driving on the inside lane on a straight road with no vehicles in front of me. halfway past passing a medium size box truck in the outside lane my truck flashed collision avoidance and slammed on the brakes for one second. it immediately released and sped up to where i had the cruise previously set at 65 mph. ford dealer said they applied the factory computer reset 30 months earlier while owned by the original buyer. recall # 15s29. dealer said he could do nothing more.
Adaptive cruise control sensor and braking activate in error when there is a large truck on the side of the vehicle. vehicle will hard brakes as it thinks the car in front has stopped when there is no car in front of you. it is falsely seeing the truck in the other lane to your side. i had it into ford for another issue and told them. they said there was "an update" but it is still doing the same thing. this is dangerous as the vehicle slams on the brakes by itself almost causing cars behind you to hit you. the vehicle should not hard brake due to a truck on the side of the car!. just today my car did it twice on the highway. once this morning and again on the drive home. i am driving at highway speeds, clear day, i'm in my lane and passing a slower truck on my right and the adaptive cruise braking slams on the brakes. it is intermittent and i'm not sure why its reacting to a large truck that is not in front of me. while it didn't result in a "crash" it could have if the person behind me hadn't been paying attention. this is a serious defect!!
Multiple incidents have occurred where adaptive cruise control applies hard deceleration to the vehicle while at highway speeds without warning or without an object in front of the vehicle. approx travel speed has been 65mph and vehicle collision warning comes on and instantly brakes causing a 10mph or more deceleration. it has happened on curves or when driving near a truck. recent incident was moving from right lane to the left lane of a highway to pass a truck and another vehicle was following mine. as i approached the tractor portion of the tractor/trailer, my truck braked hard and the vehicle behind me nearly crashed into the back of my vehicle. the other driver wasn't expecting me to brake while passing another vehicle to its left. this has happened multiple times. i have contacted ford and they admitted that there is a problem with the adaptive cruise system and that it was a safety issue but they had no plans to fix/recall the issue. question - how many rear impact accidents/incidents/potential incidents will it take for ford to address this serious unannounced braking issue. it is very unnerving to be driving at highway speed and then to be thrown forward for no reason because your vehicle brakes. ford did acknowledge that this is a problem and yet does not wish to address it likely until there is death to lawsuit after which it will have been too late for someone. please exert whatever pressure you can to get verification from ford and have them address this problem with a recall before someone is killed. thank you. highway speed adaptive cruise control on on curves or straight roads near a tractor trailer collision warning/braking/rapid deceleration nearly causing multiple rear end accidents - many incidents ford verified but refuses to fix
This issue has now happened 6 times without showing a pattern. while driving the vehicle completely loses all throttle power and the message center displays 'service advancetrac' 'hill start assist disabled' and the abs and service engine lights illuminate. this has happened on back roads at slower speeds and on highways at 70 mph. again, all throttle power is lost. this issue has been reported on numerous forums and there have been 2 consensus fixes, replace throttle body and an apparent issue with the tightness of a throttle cable.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-350. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle shakes and was uncontrollable. the contact had to slow the vehicle to 30 mph. there were no warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer rowe westbrook (91 main st, westbrook, me 04092, (207) 854-2555) where it was diagnosed that the sway bar needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 24,856.
My truck odometer shows i have 26582 miles on the truck. and the engine hours shows i have 867 hours. however rusty wallace service department said i have 63000 miles according to the pcm!!! i have transmission problems and they do not want to fix the truck under warranty. i content that the truck is still under warranty i have not done anything to the odometer. i have pictures that show i was doing 72 miles a hour and on the digital speedometer but the other speedometer showed i was doing 90 miles a hour. i parked the truck and it stilled showed i was doing 20 mph. i have attached the photos.
I would like to highlight safety concern on ford f-150 intake throttle failures. i believe there has been a recall on this part for a different s/n range of ford f-150. this vin was not in the list. when this fails, you lose all power and truck goes into neutral. was towing loaded trailer in 4 lanes of high speed interstate city driving. almost was in serious accident. ford customer service did nothing or indicate that they were going to look at s/n range impacted. i am a chief engineer at caterpillar. i understand the business of effective s/n and what is included in mandatory recalls. their lack of action is a concern.
While driving my 2015 ford f-150 pickup truck at different speeds of 5 to 70 mph the vehicles throttle becomes inoperable. when this occurs the engine continues to run at a low idle however it is a very rough idle as if the engine has a severe ignition misfire condition. furthermore, the dash starts to cycle through multiple fault/trouble displays. these include "hill descent control fault", "service advance track", "see manual (w/ wrench symbol)"; also the airbag light is illuminated. when this occurs i have to coast to the side of the freeway or busy city street bringing the vehicle to a stop. once stopped, with emergency flashers on, i have to turn the ignition off and restart the vehicle. in some instances i've had to restart the vehicle more than once to successfully achieve a smooth running engine. i must then press the "ok" button on the steering wheel to stop the dash from displaying the fault/trouble messages. i can then drive on with an operable throttle and properly running engine. this condition has happened multiple times at various speeds without warning and presents a potentially dangerous driving condition!
While accelerating onto the freeway from the on-ramp, all throttle control went away and the truck started decelerating along with warning lamps turning on the driver display panel. steep hill descent fault, sensortrac fault. had to pull coast over to the shoulder under rough idle and turn off the vehicle ignition. after cycling the ignition, the throttle control came back. this has happened at least 5 times now during the last week or so. after a google search online, i have found that this seems to be a very common occurance with ford f-150's and seems to be related to the electronic throttle body controller. ford has tsb 16-0139 documenting the issue
Letter from congressman bilirakis on behalf of constituent re 2015 ford f-150 safety concerns when the cruise control is applied his car would slow down instantly as if the breaks were applied. *ld updated 11/08/2017*js
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving with the cruise control set at 75 mph, the vehicle started shaking and the speed reduced to 60 mph. the contact stated that it felt as if the brakes were being applied. the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the rpms increased, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact pulled the vehicle over and looked under the hood, but no issues were found. the vehicle was able to restart and operated normally. the contact stated that the failure occurred twice while the cruise control was engaged. the vehicle was taken to ford of port richey (10715 us-19, port richey, fl 34668 (727) 478-0975), but the failure was unable to be duplicated. the manufacturer and a congress member for the state of florida were notified of the failure and a case was opened. the failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not gain speed when the accelerator pedal was depressed. during the failure, the messages and warning indicators for the hill start not available, traction control, and check engine displayed and illuminated. after shutting the engine off and back on, the vehicle operated normally; however, the failure recurred two days later. the vehicle was taken to jemmims anderson ford in boerne, tx where it was diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 47,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 80 mph, the vehicle shook violently and lost power. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was then taken to team ford lincoln (5445 drexel rd, las vegas, nv 89130) where the diagnosis was confirmed. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact should keep his receipts in case of potential reimbursement. the approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
While using the adaptive cruise control, the vehicle falsely detects an obstacle in its path and unexpectedly applies the brakes.
The adaptive cruise control sometimes thinks there is a vehicle in front of me when there is not and aggressively applies braking
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while making a right turn at a stop sign, the vehicle experienced stalling, a loss of engine power, and severe vibration. all of the vehicle's warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to folsom lake ford where it was diagnosed that the throttle body caused the vehicle to go into limp home mode and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle experienced a leaking driver side turbo and a blown solenoid. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and started the process of vehicle buy back. the failure mileage was approximately 52,000. *tr
When using the adaptive cruise control (acc) and passing alongside a semi-truck in the left lane, the system mistakenly detects something that causes it to slam on the brakes and set off the crash warning system. a couple of seconds later it accelerated back to your original speed setting. brought the truck to 2 ford dealerships and 1 just set the sensitivity level to low and the other one did an update to the control module. neither of these has worked and the truck continues to do this. i called the dealership and they said they have no other direction from ford on how to resolve this issue. this has happened over a dozen times since i have owned the vehicle and it is just a matter of time before this will cause a major accident especially when i have vehicles following behind me alongside a semi.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while the cruise control was activated, the vehicle braked abruptly. the collision warning indicator illuminated and a chiming sound was heard. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (watertown ford located at 1600 9th ave se watertown, sd 57201) where it was diagnosed, but not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 12350340. the failure mileage was 19,200.
I received a recall notice, 15s29, to reprogram my f-150's control system to correct an adaptive cruse control issue. i had this recall work performed by my ford dealership in march, 2017. i was on a road trip this week (4-4-2017) and was traveling on the i-35 interstate at 75 mph passing a semi. about half way passed the semi the brakes were suddenly applied and the warning flasher (on the windshield) activated. i thought this was fixed!! thankfully the vehicle behind me was able to brake to avoid a rear collision. is there still an issue with this? if so when will it be fixed?
This is the fourth time i'm reporting this. although my vehicle should have qualified for ford's recall 15s29, i was never notified. but i have mentioned it to my dealer 3 or 4 different times. they always tell me there's nothing they can do. so here's the issue. when driving on the highway, my truck thinks i'm going to hit something and the alert lights and sounds come on (and once since i had adaptive cruise control on, it applied the brakes at 70 mph). this is not safe. the dealerships say there is nothing they can do to fix my truck, yet the issue keeps happening.
This is a work truck driven by several people. vehicle will sometimes keep accelerating without pedal being depressed. also will not disengage cruise control. have to shift to neutral and wait a few seconds for engine rpm to lower. check engine light doesn't come on. has been to ford dealer on 12/05/16 and 12/20/16-1/10/17. they said they couldn't replicate problem.
The adaptive cruise control was updated when the recall was issued but still exhibits the problem of slamming on the brakes when passing a semi. the problem is actually getting worse, and happens more frequently. it now happens when going under a bridge. i have had it to 2 different dealers and contacted ford and they all tell me that there are no computer error codes therefore it didn't happen. they also tell me that there is no recall because i already had the recall service performed. this truck is not safe, it will kill me or whoever is unlucky enough to be following me. ford doesn't seem to care because they have already performed the recall service.
My adaptive cruise control system has been updated according to the recall that was issued but i still have the same issue with the truck slamming on the brakes when passing a semi-truck.
