Problems with 2014 Ford F-150 UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2014 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 54 071 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2014 Ford F-150

Remotely started the truck in 35 degree weather on 22 january 2020 in my driveway. i unlocked my truck and got in to move it and noticed the rear driver's side glass was shattered. i did not notice any visible cause of the damage so surmised it must have been a defect.

Back glass shattered all the sudden after auto start and defrost are coming on truck was parked and it was early morning

My 2014 f-150 platinum edition rear driver side window glass cracked this morning. auto started my truck and the defrost automatically turns on as it's warming up the truck. 5 min later after getting in the truck drove the truck for 10 sec or so and i heard a loud pop! my glass had shattered into the pieces. did research and seen i'm not the only one who has had this happen to them. the defrost sensor has been causing this to the 09-14 f150 and ford is not doing anything about this.. i called a couple dealerships and asked them about it and they also told me they have had a lot of other people call them about this issue. what is ford going to do about this? i don't really want to pay 1k out of pocket to fix something that's an issue with the manufacturer. if this has happened to anyone else, please put in a complaint so this can get resolved sooner than later! i'm just glad no one was in the back seat when this shattered at it was extremely loud and could've shattered on them! thank you !

It was about 76 degrees outside and raining. i just finished loading some groceries in the back seat of my truck. i got in my truck started it and turned in the rear defroster because the windows were fogged. i smelled a strong burned plastic odor but thought nothing of it. about 2 minutes later when i pulled into my driveway, i heard a loud pop and it sounded like it had come from the back seat. i looked back and saw my back driver's side window was completely shattered. i looked around and i was the only person or vehicle around. i had my neighbors check their cameras and it shattered for no reason.

The rear window in my 2014 f150 randomly exploded. this is the second time in a year and a half. the first time is was cold and i activated my rear defrosters. shortly after, i heard a loud bang and looked back to see my window completely shattered. the second time, it was 83 out and i was driving on local roads. both ovations the vehicle was traveling under 40 miles per hour

The recirculation/fresh air flap door connection to the actuator broke off and fell into the ac heater blower motor fan. current results are; 1) no control over air flow whether within the cabin (recirculation versus "fresh" air) and 2) that it makes a terrible noise and vibration as the broken part is within the circular fan. eventual result could be 1) burn-out of the fan motor with possible overheating of the fan motor (electrical fire?), 2) heat problems for passengers 3) failure to defrost windshield under cold conditions. in reading internet postings (forums), this is apparently a common problem with a high cost to have repaired, for a simple broken piece of plastic.

After hitting bumps in the highway the truck starts to wobble uncontrollably and the only way to get it back is to slow down to 30mph and then the wobble will stop. we have replaced the track bar, stabilizer, brakes and rosters, new tires, and balances.

Left for work this morning (april 29th 2019). temp was 48, left the hotel and turned on rear defrost, smelled a burning electronics smell within about 2 minutes after turning on the rear defrost and heard a loud pop as i was traveling at 35mph. i looked back to see my driverside rear window completely shattered. called ford and asked them if they new of anything, they just brushed me off. im concerned greatly more for the electrical smell even though im highly upset about the window. i dont want a vehicle fire. this is a factory defect, not a wear and tear item or a consumable. i am thoroughly convinced ford needs to fix this, both my window and the electrical burning smell. i worked at a dealer as a technician, if my truck catches fire, i will hire a lawyer.

I turned on the rear defrost for about ten minutes on my way to work, and as i was sitting at a red light, i heard a loud pop, similar to a gunshot. i got out and realized my rear window had shattered. i have the three piece, sliding window with defrost. the driver side was shattered. not covered under my expensive warranty, nor covered by ford as a recall, nor covered by insurance without a deductible. there was no impact, no rough roads. nothing.

Windows shattering with out impact. mosty on fords 2010 to 2016 i am seen while researching. fors has been notified but they refuse to recall. its is a defect in the window either by the dfroster or faulty glass. will just explode without cause at anytime. was driving approx 10mph straight down road normal street, bought truck at ford of souderton cioca the manager at the dealership wont back product.

Truck rear window glass is breaking with no obvious cause.

Truck parked in driveway. after the truck was turned off in park and key removed the truck started to roll back causing injury to my wheelchair bound husband, breaking his arm and dragging me 15 feet down the driveway before coming to a stop across the street at the curb

When accelerating the transmission hesitates and drops to lower gear loses power

Frozen door latch

Rear window behind driver's seat shattered. was not in car when it occurred. does not appear to have been from impact. multiple reports online of rear defrost on remote start causing window to shatter (glass retained by safety coating). remote start was being used to warm up vehicle in the morning prior to noticing broken window. temperature was well below zero, single digits.

My passenger rear window exploded and broke after the rear defroster was activated. the vehicle was being driven on the road when this occurred.

Left rear window shattered while sitting in my driveway. it was apx. -10 f outside. other than the cold, there was no other factor to explain why my window shattered.

When i was driving down the road the back window panel shattered for no apparent reason.

Takata recall i was letting my truck warm up before a hunting trip that morning, ice on windows so turned on rear defrost, got in truck drove roughly 5miles up the road and rear driver section of glass "exploded" and spider webbed, rear defrost was on at the time of incident.

Rear cab glass drivers side shattered 10 min after remote starting truck. stationary vehicle. sat in truck for a few minutes and heard what sounded like gunshot to the roof. got out and examined roof, no trees or anything around. found one of the rear glass panels shattered. rear defrost button would never light up (figured it was broken). was set to automatically come on when remote starting truck. temp was between 20-25 f. rear window defrost button now lights up for the first time. quick internet search reveals that this exact scenario happens to thousands of others with this truck. a random exploding window due to having a rear defrost on in the winter should not be paid for by the owner. this is a clear defect in the vehicle.

Rear driver side window shattered upon auto start 20 degree day-no impact

On december 5, 2018, my 2014 ford f-150 fx4 caught fire at the bottom of my driveway. i went out to start my truck to take the garbage to the road for pickup. i put the truck in park and began to unload the garbage from the back of truck. after unloading the last bag, i noticed smoke coming from under the hood, by the time i went to pop the hood smoke and already taken over the cab and a fire had started underneath the passager side dashboard. i rushed to call 911, by the time the fire department arrived the truck was a total loss. the heater stopped working moments before the fire and the fire department ruled it an electrical fire, likely from the heat source.

1) due to a poor design, myself and multiple others users have had issues with faulty / poorly designed coolant hoses. these hoses would randomly disconnect or spill coolant. currently, my truck is leaking coolant and even after replacing the hose, it is still occurring. see below link to thread: - https://www.f150forum.com/f70/2011-5-0l-coolant-leak-252081/ 2) it is a common issue for the back window to randomly blow out due to issue with design the heated windows. this could cause a hazard since the driver could be distracted when the window blows out. see below forum issue: - http://fordauthority.com/2017/12/another-ford-f-150-owner-claims-the-rear-window-shattered-despite-no-impact/ - https://www.f150forum.com/f38/exploding-rear-window-145329/ photos are in the forums.

Rear window panel shattered in place due to the defroster overheating. there had been no prior damage to the window, and the window shattered while the car was stationary and idling in the parking lot at my work, only to defrost and warm up. in the attached images, it is evident from the picture inside the vehicle that the window has completely cracked, and from the outside, it is proven that there was no impact of a foreing object that resulted in this.

Was driving and heard a loud pop. sounded like a gun shot and back glass was shattered . didn't look like anything hit it.

Rear slider window is the issue. after starting my truck, while sitting inside i turned on the rear defrost. within minutes while sitting stationary the driver side rear window pane shattered. vehicle is under warranty but ford will not cover. this impedes my view of the road and can be very dangerous as it could cause a driver to startle and have an accident.

Parked in a parking lot in a suburban area but in an isolated part of the lot have a super can with suicide doors, was able to get in the back seat and close all doors. front console was up. there was no exit and i had no communication devise such as a cell phone. after combing the back seat area for about 30 minutes i happened to see the front console lever and was able to get it down and reach front door handle.. it was a 100 degree day and had this not happened at approx 10pm i may have died. i could not reach the manual but there was nothing concerning the doors when i eventually was able to read it. ford complaint was made november 2,2018, was told to contact dealer service department. was told there was no recourse and nothing could be done to rectify issue

This morning, i got in my truck and started it. as i was pulling out of my parking space, less then 1 minute with the engine running, i heard a huge pop in my backseat. i look back, the drivers side rear window just shattered. i got out and immediately took pictures, see below, and checked for any impacts and there were none. my window literally shattered on its own. i am taking it to ford this afternoon after work.

Used the auto start from inside my house. truck was running for about 4 minutes, when i got in. while still stationary, within a minute i heard a loud pop. got out and looked around, and noticed the rear driver side glass was shattered. this was at 5:30 am it was 53 degrees f and wet from previous rain

The service advancetrac and hill descent control fault come up on my dashboard and my power steering does not work. while most vehicles can be driven without power steering but this truck is not drivable without that feature. the lights and blinkers do not work. these faults happened while driving and i almost lost control of my vehicle and crashed. i'm lucky i didn't hit and kill somebody. this is a huge safety issue for which afford already knows about but refuses to fix our truck.

Pulled the truck out of the garage to warm up. it was about 35 degrees fahrenheit. and when i got out into the cold air, the rear cab window shattered. there was no impact from anything, just simply the change in temperature was enough to shatter the glass.

Truck down shifts while driving. my pregnant wife and i were driving 70 mph on highway, when truck down shifted to 1st gear and nearly caused us to slide off road in the rain. ford just recalled 2011-2013 for same problem! they need to recall 2014 as well! my truck was fixed at ford dealership.

No recall, but have had trouble with the transmission from day one, it jerks does not change gears the way they should, supposedly fix they installed a new transmission pump and still the same, say they cannot duplicate the problem . when on the highway have to slow down and then when you try to accelerate it jerks try to pick up speed

4 year old truck passenger door and rear driver door locks do not work. you can pull the driver side knob up after you roll the window down which is ludacris in my book i have to small children and if we were happen to get in an accident i would hate to have to bust the window out if it was serious. i could understand if this vehicle was 10 years old and they stopped workin but this is not the case 4 years old ford should replace what ever is wrong...... i have read other complaints about this model year and other ford f150 door issues something needs to be done.... thanks for your time.

Throttle body failure while driving 70 mph on major highway with nowhere to pull over - total loss of acceleration while driving

Throttle body went out after 40,000 miles. driving down the road wrench icon pops up and a few seconds later the truck stalls and engine cuts out. take it to ford and that part is not covered under my extended warranty.. big surprise. talk to customer service and there is nothing they will do either. so out 600 because ford knowingly sells these vehicles when they know that thousands of people are having the exact same problem.

Rear drivers side panel wwindshield shattered . turned on rear windshield defroster and after a minute or so heard a large bang. was driving to work. straight. temp wa in the low twenties. got snow and ice in lake county illinois.

My back window shattered do to the defrost over heating the back window. while parked at my office.

I started my truck this morning with the autostart it ran about 10 minutes i went out got in the truck and started on my way to work about five or six minutes into it my trip my driver side back window shattered. there was nothing that came into contact with the window it is a power sliding rear defrost window. i have absolutely no reason as to why this happened other then the rear defrost it was about 35 here this morning with a heavy frost on the ground

Turned on the rear window defroster on a very cold morning and after about ten minutes while driving, the rear window loudly shattered almost causing an accident

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 ford f-150. while trading in the vehicle, the dealer (mark porter ford, 1360 mayhew rd, jackson, oh 45640) informed the contact that the current vehicle was previously involved in a crash. while purchasing the vehicle in june of 2017, the contact asked the dealer if the vehicle had been in a crash and was informed that it had not. the vin was unknown. the contact had not experienced a failure.

After turning on my rear defrost the rear window shattered spraying some glass into the rear seat. the truck was parked. the rear window is a power slider and is not covered under the ford warranty. i have a camper cover shell on my f150 so the rear window is protected from impact. prior to the window breaking i had no indications of issues other than the rear defrost occasionally refusing to turn on.

While driving down the interstate at 70 mph. truck died completely, dash flashed "put into park" my 15 year old son was driving and has sence to put it in neutral instead. he manuvered to the shoulder from the inside lane. the truck interior lights come on, but nothing else. no power to anything when key is inserted. we are lucky we weren't killled. this happened last saturday january, 27 2018. road conditions were dry and it was around 50 degrees. 65,000 miles on truck. 2014 f150 eco- boost 3.5

On january 9, 2018 i used my remote starter to start my truck, which i have set to turn on the front and rear defrosters along with the seat heaters. the truck ran roughly 15 minutes before leaving for work. upon my arrival (approximately 20 minutes later), i parked, turned off the engine and got out. when i shut the door, i heard what sounded like ice falling off the truck. knowing there wasn't any ice build up, i walked around to see the rear driver side window was shattered and pieces of glass were falling out.

Warped exhaust manifold 2 times now within 6 months. 38k and 44k miles. exhaust leaks into cab of truck when under load and makes a loud squeaking noise.

I used the remote start to warm up the truck and when i got into the truck to go to work i saw that the rear drivers side window had shattered. i was completely baffled as to how this happened as there are no indications that anything struck the window. i went online and saw that this is a recurring problem with ford f150's. i'm lucky it didn't shatter while i was driving or while my kids or grandkids were in the back seat. this vehicle only has 19,000 miles on it.

Back sliding window shattered for no reason. truck was in driveway warming up

Exploding rear glass - 45f external temp, turned on the rear defroster, after about 5 minutes i heard what sounded like someone hit the truck with a baseball bat! i look around and notice the driverside portion of my 3 section power sliding rear windshield has shattered. after calling a repair place i learned that this is a very common issue with these trucks. there needs to be a recall from what i can tell, sounds like the source of the problem is faulty rear defrost elements getting too hot and causing the glass to shatter in cold weather. truck ran for a few minutes in the driveway before leaving for work. glass shattered about a mile into the drive while going around 40 mph on a city street (barker cypress in cypress, tx to be exact).

The fan/blower for the heater/ac will randomly shut off. then other times if you touch under the passenger side dash it will turn off and on.

Driving at 55 mph in cruise control. touched brake to disengage cruise control and pressed accelerator pedal to pass a slow vehicle when pedal went to the floor and engine raced. i had to press brakes with all my might to slow vehicle to 45 mph and it kept climbing and pedal would not come up and engine speed would not slow. pressed off button for cruise control and nothing changed. finally after 5 miles heard a pop and the pedal came up and engine speed dropped to idle. could not stop earlier as 2 lane hwy. with no shoulder. guard rail and river on right and mountain cliffs on left side. brought to dealer who could find nothing wrong they stated.
