Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle lost engine power and the warning light illuminated. the rpms increased to 1,000. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and the engine was turned off. the vehicle restarted and resumed normally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the mechanic was unable to locate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

September 2015 i-75 north bound, attempted to pass a vehicle at 70 mph and had loss of power, check engine light and violent engine shaking for 5-10 minutes on the highway before shaking and check engine light stopped. happened in the gainesville fl area cloudy but dry day, had all scheduled maintenance done in venice fl prior to getting on the road at the dealership, 36,500 miles. october 2015 i-44 east bound tulsa ok, reentering the interstate had loss of power unable to enter at appropriate speeds, check engine light and violent shaking. slammed on gas and then brake pedals with no difference. pulled off the interstate parked the truck, turned off and restarted as soon as it started gunned the gas pedal rpm in the red line and again the truck lost all power, check engine light and shook did this for 30 minutes until i was able to start the truck and gun the rpm into the red line without loss of power. called dealership asking about hydroplaning and engine losing power like in the tundra trucks, was told no ford does not have that safety feature. cold and wet weather conditions 40,000 miles. november 2015 on tx 82 west bound at 80 mph, 35 degrees and rainy conditions. attempted to pass a semi and had loss of power, check engine light and violent shaking was a passenger in the truck at this time and was still able to feel the shaking from the engine. again lasted 5-10 minutes. went to the dealership for oil change before the trip in the beginning of november. 43,000 miles. have been to my dealership asking about this problem, and have been told there may be a recall but so far nothing. i do interstate driving in less than ideal conditions (rain, snow and ice) i need this truck to preform that is why i bought it. i understand it takes time and money to make a recall happen, but make no mistake this is going to cause accidents.

June 30, 2015 3:30pm f150 shuddered and then stalled out while running traffic. wrench insignia appeared on dashboard screen. i was able to coast to the side of the road, put it in park and it restarted. i was the only person in the truck. june 30, 2015 5:45pm f150 shuddered and then stalled out while in running traffic. wrench insignia appeared on dashboard screen. i was able to coast to the side of the road, put it in park and it restarted. there were 4 people in the truck. truck not used from june 30 to july 4th. july 4th, 2015 6:30pm f150 shuddered and stalled and went in to some type of barely running mode. the wrench insignia again appeared on the dashboard screen. i coasted to the side of the road. truck struggled to start but eventually did so and i took it home and parked it as it was becoming dangerous to be on the road with it. july 1, 2015 called and made an appointment at wayne county ford service dep't in honesdale pa. they gave me an appointment date of july 6 at 9:30am. they could not diagnose the problem and the truck is still sitting there as of july 7th.

Brake rotors warping prior to 18,000 miles; engine cooler fan runs in high speed during summer months, all the time.

Vehicle hesitation with jerking and loss of momentum when lightly accelerating at speeds between 60 mph and 70 mph when hot. dealer determined this was caused by the spark plugs and boots and changed them out at 48k miles. dealer maintenance book lists changing out the spark plugs and boots at 100k miles which a gross underestimated maintenance schedule. this is miss leading to the buyer for expected repair costs and dangerous for the owner while on the road and dangerous to other motorist because of the unexpected loss of momentum and jerking of the vehicle.

When cold starting the eco boost engine a loud rattling noise can be heard for several seconds... ford service stated that the noise is timing chain stretch and stated that over time this will cause the check engine light and could destroy the engine... the check engine light will come on indicating the engine is out of time. if the timing chain should slip or break it would cause the engine to be destroyed which would be a safety hazard.... *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle would also drive abnormally when reaching speeds over 60 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air compressor had failed and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, details of the diagnosis could not be provided. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for repairs related to the failure and it was informed each time that the brakes and rotors had prematurely deteriorated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

Ford f150 ecoboost 2013 13,000 mile the engine shakes and a lost of power when passing. the check engine light come on while its happen but shuts off when the power come back. i have taken it to ford 4times but because it has no check engine light on they look at me like if i'm crazy.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle did not decelerate and increased in rpms when the brake pedal was depressed. as a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was not filed and no injuries were sustained. the vehicle was taken to a body repair shop, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 35,000.

Pickup has a ticking noise coming from engine compartment after engine reaches operating temp. notified ford about issue and was advised to take to dealership. took to dealership as advised dealership stated this was normal for a 5.0 liter engine. notified ford after taking to dealership they have not responded back.

I was driving to pick my son up from school going about 25 mph i turned right accelerated and the truck completely lost powered it did not stall just lost all power and the gas pedal had no response i was able to idle to my son's school. thank goodness no one was on the road behind me because when i lost power the truck just stop abruptly in the middle of the road. can't imagine how that would have played out if i had been going 70 down the highway. ford is saying it's the throttle body i don't think that's correct :( *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150 with eco boost. the contact stated that the vehicle started to switch gears without warning and jerk violently. the contact mentioned that when the failure occurred, the check engine light illuminated and the gauges on the instrument panel stopped working. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 49,000.

Yesterday, my truck started fine with no issues, all systems were fine. this morning, 12/13/14, i went to start my truck and my battery was completely dead. i left nothing on and nothing plugged in. i purchased a new battery and it started fine although the remote start (factory installed) no longer works when pressed, the horn blows once and the lights flash twice. i looked out of my window a few minutes ago and noticed that the white instrument cluster lights are on. i went out to make sure my truck was locked, got in, started the engine and shut everything off again but the instrument cluster lights won't go out. *tr

Vehicle sputtered and stalled while slowing down on freeway. after towing to dealer, dealer could only find loose battery cable. 2 days later engine stalled again while accelerating on freeway with same symptoms. vehicle will not start and is with dealer who initially said no issues can be found. vehicle symptoms match description of "limp mode". *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that when he attempted to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle rapidly accelerated as the rpms increased to 4000. the contact applied the brakes and shifted into neutral however, the vehicle did not respond and the rpms remained at 4000. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnosis. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 26,000. updated 11/20/14*cn updated 08/28/2017*ct

Upon turning off the ignition the starter kicked on and wouldn't stop. got truck out of garage. it died in the driveway. saw smoke and sparks. opened the hood and saw a small fire under the engine block. called fd but had it out by the time they arrived. *tr

This occurred on a rainy hot day southbound towards cape cod. i was driving my second 2013 ford f150, both of which have the ecoboost engine. i attempted to pass on a two lane road, and upon acceleration the engine began to shutter, engine light came on, engine lost most of its power, and vehicle slowed dramatically. after approximately 20 to 30 seconds the engine began to return to a normal operating mode. had there been oncoming traffic, i would not be writing this. as i said, this is my second ecoboost, and i thought that ford would have fixed what is clearly a potentially fatal flaw with this engine. i had the same issue occur twice before in my prior ecoboost f150. i brought the truck to a dealer today for another minor issue and asked that the ecoboost issue be addressed, but that request was rejected by the dealer, whom sighted ford policy. clearly there is a pattern of failure on these engines, and just as clear it appears there is an effective and economical fix, based on my personal research of available information on line. it is unexplainable why ford would not get in front of this issue before there is a fatal accident. *tr

While traveling on the highway going about 50 miles per hour, the vehicle loss power and would not respond to me pressing on the gas pedal. i pulled over to the side of the road and stopped, then the vehicle start to shudder real bad. i turned off the vehicle and restarted it, and the problem disappeared for about a week, then it occurred again with the same effects. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle misfired. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician was unable to determine the cause of failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 30,200.

Driving in rainy conditions attempting to accelerate my truck started to lose power, shaking and check engine light started to flash. after getting out of traffic to pull over called my wife to bring me my o.b.d hand held found that i had codes p0300, p0304, p0305 and p0306 which is for cylinders misfiring . this is the second time this has happened in heavy traffic condition it could easily cause a traffic accident, does someone have to die before ya'll take action. my truck is at kenly ford in kenly north carolina and like the first time they play it off like i don't know what i am talking about and they always say they can't find anything wrong with it. please don't sit around and let this problem cost someone their life...... *tr

This brand new truck is misfiring. when i inquired about why this was happening i was told that ford is still investigating the problem but has not even reached out the customers who just paid all this money for these trucks like me at a sum of 50,000.00. i'm told this problem has been going on since 2011 when the ecoboost engine was introduced. where is the customer service ford! so many people have had this problem with this ecoboost engine and you can't tell me you didn't know of these problems before continuing to sell these trucks to people. i thought you were better than chevrolet but i'm starting to feel differently. *tr

As i tried to accelerate to pass a vehicle the motor in my truck started to miss, the check engine light flashed on and off and i was not able to accelerate. the motor proceeded to idle even though i was pushing in the gas pedal. after about 15 seconds of no response to the gas pedal being pushed the entire truck started shaking as though it was about to fall apart. another 30 seconds later and everything went back to normal. this occurred in a 2013 f-150 with the ecoboost motor. *js

Regular morning, right as i was driving out of the parking lot, two alarms went off: "power train" and "service engine soon". at first i thought it was an error so i continued to drive out of the parking lot. not even 10 yards out, my truck began to jerk forward so i put on park and shut the engine off. i started again, attempted to drive back to my parking stall, and same thing happened. i bought this truck about 10 months ago and it only got 7800 miles on it. i haven't put any strenuous work load on this truck, mainly used for commuting so far. *tr

After driving for several hours on the interstate we had stopped to re-fuel. upon re-entry onto the interstate the truck failed to accelerate, the check engine light came on, the truck was shaking it took 30-40 seconds before normal operation resumed. this is the 3rd time this has happened, twice on of which were on the interstate while attempting to merge into traffic or pass vehicles. all three times the conditions have been high humidity, rain & traveling at a relatively constant speed for an extended period of time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact mentioned that the failure occurred only during rainy or humid weather conditions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer on three separate occasions where the six spark plugs, converter assembly, and nuts were replaced. in addition, the pcm was updated, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 11,132.

2013 ford f150 ecoboost supercrew (157" wb) when loaded exhibits pulse/bucking/shaking when taking off from a stop. noticeably worse as more load is applied. vehicle is rate with payload of 1500 lbs and it only takes 200-300 lbs in the bed to feel it and when you have 700-800 lbs it literally bucks. had at dealer multiple times and been in contact with ford tech line who all say that no damage or safety issue exists and to live with it. i paid $42k for this vehicle and now i can't even put anything into the bed to to unsafe starts that are going to leave me stranded. to make matters worse the computer tries to compensate for the vibrations and starts to lower power causing it to not go which is dangerous in left hand turn situations. the tech said there was nothing they could do as ford states these are known issues. *js

unintended acceleration design defect in vehicles equipped with an electronic throttle control system . *tr

During acceleration to highway speed during rainy weather my truck exhibited a power loss. the check engine light started to flash and the engine looses power and the vehicle decelerated. this has occurred 2 times since i have owned this vehicle (since december 2013). i have the truck in the shop now for another issue and have informed the dealer of the incidents but have not heard back from them. *tr

Upon accelerating from a stop 4or 5 loud knocking sounds were heard and felt, and engine power loss was experienced. i let off throttle to reduce knocking sound, which sounded like turbo wastegate possibly, and engine shook and had reduced power for several miles. temperature outside was warm and dry. i had been driving vehicle for over an hour before problem. it has had reduced power and minor shaking before, but nothing like this. fortunately no other vehicles were coming. i do notice wastegate popping off on short, steep hills more lately. i have the ecoboost engine. have not been to dealer yet, but have appt soon. *js

I was at a stop sign turning into a main street, i accelerated to turn into the intersection when i attempted to accelerate the truck did not do anything. it was really nerve wrecking, i stepped on the gas like 3 times until the truck finally reacted. i almost got into a really bad accident which would of been my fault because of the cars defect. this is not the only time that this has happened to me, but is the most recent. they really need to do something about this! i took the truck to the dealer and was told that they cannot duplicate customers concern. this is a $43,000 truck and think that i should get what i have paid for not a little piece of crap. *tr

When pulling out into traffic from a stop i experienced a sudden loss of power from the engine. the engine sputtered and it would not accelerate or increae rpm. after pumping the gas pedal twice the turbos finally kicked in and allowed mwe to once again accelerate. this loss of power while entering the roadway nearly caused a collision. *tr

2013 ford f-150 3.5 ecoboost on multiple occasions has loss of power on take-off when making left hand turns. this loss of power seems more like a long delay in poer application to the wheels, long enough that when making left hand turns in traffic becomes dangerous and i have been in two near misses in these stall situations. the vehicle comes to life suddenly with a boost of full power literally scaring you when it finally does decide to go after a 1-3 second delay, and oftentimes even after letting off of the accelerator you still get the power surge and have to mash the brakes. i have learned to keep a foot on the brake and mange the delay, just hope i don't get in a tight spot where i need to have sudden power from a stop. *js

The following occurred in a 2013 f150 platinum with 12,000 miles on it. while accelerating from a traffic light, the car lost power and stuttered and fell into limp mode. you could not drive over 10 mph. this has been just one of many similar incidents. i have taken the car in several times but ford cannot replicate the problem, so they will not fix anything. recently, the car just misfired while driving around 40mph, these incidents occur suddenly then the car recovers. my car is currently in the shop, i will pick it up today, they said they could not replicate the problem, so no service was done. the reason it was in the shop this time? i was driving to work in the morning and the car basically collapsed while driving, almost causing a huge accident, this incident was more extreme than the others and the car was stuck in limp mode for about 5 seconds, the woman behind me almost smashed into me. this is a 50k truck with 12,000 miles on it. this truck is extremely dangerous to drive. recall!!!!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the engine began to hesitate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that water had entered the turbo booster and but they could not provide a remedy. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100. the vin was unavailable. *tr

Purchased new 2013 ford eco pickup. it was advertised and sold to be a high efficient fuel economical vehicle. first time temperatures dropped below 30 degrees f, my fuel mileage drastically dropped. after discussion with dealership, they seemed to be aware of the affect cold air had on its fuel mileage. prior to cold weather i was experiencing 18 to 24 mpg. as soon as cold weather arrived i was experiencing 12 to 14 mpg. this type of mileage is consistent all through the winter until late spring. seems the 24 mpg is unachievable anymore. dealership briefly explained the boosters work best in warm weather. this information was not offered during the purchase process. i even showed them a magazine article written on how fords eco boost had been experiencing lower than advertised mpg. the salesman acknowledged the article and said they had corrected the problem. i was told during a maintenance process, that it had to have 12,000 miles before they could test it for lack of mpg. i had it inspected at 11,800 miles and they claim there is nothing they can do. my advice to anyone purchasing a 150 eco boost expecting good to above average mpg, it will not happen. *tr

Vehicle would repeat law battery message. took to dealer battery tests good. vehicle would sometimes die overnight with a no start condition in mourning. 6 dealer visits and one new battery, "no problem found" from dealer. this vehicle could strand you at any time. i have a open case from ford but problem continues. *tr

Ford ecoboost engine. traveling on state highway (one lane in each direction) at about 45mpg (speed limit was 55). i attempted to pass a slower car. i depressed the accelerator and move into the oncoming traffic lane. as i came even with the slower car, the engine cut out and i was only able to maintain a speed of 40 to 45 mph. another car pulled in right behind me to also pass the slower car at the same time. a semi trailer crested the hill and was quickly approaching. i was unable to hit the breaks and return to my lane of traffic because the second passing car was accelerating quickly behind me and i was unable to accelerate at all because the engine was stalling. the second passing car realized something was wrong and hit the breaks allowing me to also slide back in line as the semi shifted onto the shoulder in his lane. we went three-wide on a two lane highway at highway speeds. after about a minute, the engine warning lights went out on the dash, the engine kicked back in. i was able to safely pass the slower car and traveled home. i took the truck to the local dealer for evaluation and they told me this is known to happen during rainy weather. weather at time of incident, partly cloudy, around 4:30 in the afternoon. this is the third time my engine has cut out on me during acceleration. this is the only time to nearly wrap up four vehicles in a nasty wreck. *tr

When hard acceleration, vehicle losses all power and will not accelerate. this has almost caused a accident three different occasions. ford dealer tells me they can't find a problem but there's other ecoboost owners with the same problem. *tr

I had been driving on the highway in the rain for approximately 2 hours, when i needed to pass a semi-truck and pushed the accelerator pedal to accelerate the truck started to shudder and stall, with an accompanying flashing mil light. i let off the accelerator and the mil light became steady. i pulled off to the side of the road, shut-off the truck and opened the hood to see if there was any obvious cause to the misfire condition...and there was not. i restarted the truck, but the mil light remained illuminated steady. i drove conservatively home and hooked up my code reader to the obd-ii port. it showed codes of p0300, p0305, and p0306...the freeze-frame data showed the condition occurred at 65 mph and 2578 rpms. i called the dealer and setup an appointment to have the truck inspected. the dealer applied ford tsb 13-8-10 as the fix (don't know if this will fix the misfires or not). my truck has the 3.5l ecoboost motor. *tr

While driving my ford ecoboost f-150 on i-40 on the way to work this morning i had a severe loss of power while merging onto the highway. i had to take evasive action to miss other traffic due to the sudden loss of power and others had to avoid me as well. this was a very dangerous and scary situation. i am taking my truck to the dealership for them to look at the problem. conditions were damp and cold this morning while i was driving. i think this may be related to the wet / damp conditions that affect the ecoboost engines losing power. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled as nd the check engine warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 8,000 and the current mileage was 8,100. *tr

I was on my way home from visiting family and while passing a vehicle on route 113 in maryland my truck suddenly lost power and the engine began shuddering while attempting to accelerate. the engine had reduced power and continued shuddering until i stopped trying to accelerate. luckily, there were no other vehicles approaching in the opposite direction and i was able to abort passing the slower vehicle without incident. this occurred at approx. 1600 on a rainy day. the symptoms went away after approximately 10 minutes and i had no further issues. *tr

After driving in rain for a couple hours in my ecoboost f150, i was merging onto an interstate where traffic required heavy acceleration and the vehicle stalled from 60-65 abruptly to 45 mph. the vehicle shuttered and would not accelerate back to highway speeds for nearly a minute. the engine ran extremely rough and was unresponsive to throttle input from driver. i had my family with me and was very upset that we could have been in a very bad accident. the dealership did not inform me of problems with the ecoboost at the time of sale, even though this problem has been going on since the ecoboost introduction. this is a serious safety issue and i find the nhtsa has failed to recall these trucks. the dealership where purchased is marler ford, near alexandria, la. you are not to use my personal information in anyway except to handle this complaint. which includes but not limited to selling or otherwise providing this information to outside agencies. *tr

This is the third time the vehicle has done this to me while driving at highway speeds the vehicle (ecoboost motor) the engine has shuddered and lost all powers when attempting to pass another vehicle or accelerate. on the first instance i was on a two lane road attempting to accelerate to pass a semi truck when the truck started missing so bad it choked out and shut down in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic i had to swerve into a ditch to avoid a head on collision. the second time was on a four lane during a 45 minuet drive when i went to pass it lost all power causing me to drop to 40 miles an hour in the passing lane of a highway causing many vehicles to swerve to avoid collision. the most recent time was when same as the second going to pass somebody the truck lost all acceleration would not get out of the way of traffic nearly causing another accident. i have had it into the dealer several times and i am constantly getting we see the history code but we can not reproduce the problem. this problem has left me feeling unsafe to drive my vehicle and hurting resale value as well as putting my safety on the line. *tr

I was driving and went to pass another vehicle. my check engine light began to flash and my vehicle suffered an immediate power loss. dealership has informed me that there is no fix and that this was an ongoing issue/investigation with nhtsa? this sudden loss of power leaves drivers in a very unsafe position. this is a brand new vehicle and ford is of no help. *tr

Driving down highway at approximately 60-65mph when i attempted to accelerate. vehicle began to stall/shake and lose power. i was unable to accelerate while the vehicle was shaking. check engine light began to flash on and off. *tr

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph the vehicle stalled and the engine warning illuminated. approximately 15 seconds the vehicle responded and accelerated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 17,300. da
