Problems with 2013 Ford F-150 ENGINE

On average, the 2013 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 46 364 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2013 Ford F-150

Throttle body failed 12/4/17 leading to engine power loss at highway speed. engine light and wrench warning display appeared. could not accelerate. was able to coast to shoulder safely. restarting the vehicle, it immediately went to limp mode. vehicle was towed to dealership (apple ford, shakopee mn). tb was replaced by dealership service center. on 1/22/2020, the vehicle again lost power on highway and warning lights came on. again, was able to coast to shoulder and exit the freeway in limp mode and get to nearby dealership (wold motors, jordan mn). determined that the throttle body again failed, was replaced. two failures with the same part in such a short period of time indicates a clear defect. vehicle losing power due to this equipment failure to a very unsafe situation and could cause an accident and risk.

I regularly have my truck serviced . . today my engine light came on with no warning. it sent a message to put vehicle in park. it was towed to my home. it will not let me shift to drive with an uncontrollable vibration. it did almost the same thing when it was recalled. i have always paud my payments on time ... had it servuced accordingly. mt truck has given me more problems than i deserve. we were on tge main highway when this happened thank god no one was coming behind me it would have been a bad accident...help [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *pm

Truck being driven apx 55 mph and no change from me truck has sudden slowdown with speedometer drop to 40s then recovers as truck speeds up on it's own. same day as trying to park, in drive, pressing on gas engine revs but does not move. today (7 days later) accelerating from stop transmission sticks in low gear. has had powertrain recall applied.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while the vehicle was parked on a down hill driveway, it began to roll backwards. the gear was shifted into park, but the parking brake was not applied. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact was able to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal. on a different occasion, while driving 50 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle began to shake forcefully. the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to exceed 50 mph. the contact was able to park on the side of the road for thirty minutes before restarting the vehicle and continuing to drive with no failure. the contact opened the hood and noticed that the radiator was covered in oil. the vehicle was taken to rod baker ford sales inc. (located at 16101 s lincoln hwy, plainfield, il 60586, (815) 436-5681), but was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 104,219.

Upon trying to pass or accelerate my truck ,it loss power and boggle down check engine lights are on. leaving my house three blocks away from my distanation

While driving a wrench and check engine light comes on, the car decelerates and will not respond to accelerator. come to stop with engine shuddering. checked engine code as p2112. operating on flat surface street at 45 mph

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 10 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact heard a loud, abnormal noise when trying to accelerate more than 10 mph. the contact also stated that the power train fault warning indicator was illuminated and the transmission temperature was between 180 to 190 degrees. also, on another occasion, the vehicle began to hesitate and turned off while driving. the vehicle was unable to be driven. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. a dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the failure mileage was 102,000.

While accelerating quickly, but not so much as to spin the tires, the vehicle started "bucking". i was doing about 35-40 when it got pretty bad. the engine felt as if it was stopping and starting very quickly. it was actually pretty hard to control and it causes the truck to not allow me to accelerate onto the highway or even reach highway speeds. the check engine light started flashing and did not stop flashing for about 2 minutes. the truck would also not let me accelerate for that amount of time either.

1. engine doesn't run smooth at highway speed.. 2. powertrain, transmission - received a recall 19v-075 for software update notice 6/25/2019. took the f150 to gateway ford dealership for the update. the next time tried to accelerate (8/16/19) the transmission shifter eradicable the dash icons flashed and the pickup stalled as to be in low gear, i shut off the ignition after pulling to the side of the road, restarted it after a bit and continued on my way. this has happened again, not sure of dates. as i was traveling out of south dakota i contacted gateway, they said to take the pickup to another ford dealership and they would fix it. took it to auto nation ford in corpus christi, tx. they wouldn't fix it . they said the update wad already done. the pickup drove and worked good prior to the recall update and now it will shift radically and dash icon flashing when accelerating rapidly. in addition the drivers seat is wearing out. it should rear better than that. the pickup only has 90,178 miles on it and should last me longer than that. one more issue. the positive battery post continually corrodes. i've cleaned it many times and still corrodes. please have someone address these issues on my f150. i think there should be no cost to me per your advertising on tv. thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Since purchased new the engine will intermittently completely shut down especially during damp weather. it has spent weeks at different dealerships yet the problem persists. the engine will sputter and kill taking with it the power steering, brakes, and lights. it is still an issue today. the other problem that is really concerning is the automatic transmission will suddenly shift itself into first gear at highway speeds and send rpms racing for no reason. i was told by my dealership v&h in marshfield that they 'reprogrammed' the transmission but that still happens from time to time. all of these things happened mainly at highway speeds with the engine being most common during wet weather. it happens rather frequently with the last episode being on 8/12/19

I started my truck and the wrench light came on. the truck was in limp mode and would not accelerate. i restarted the truck and was able to pull it back in the driveway. i plugged in an obd code reader and it gave a p2112 "throttle actuator control system stuck closed." upon some research i found several models between 2011 through 2015 have had similar issues causing dangerous situations on the highway. the issue was moving when it first occurred, but thankfully it was just outside my driveway, i hadnt made it to the highway yet. i restarted the truck, and was able to park it in the driveway.

I have both exhaust manifolds warped and leaking

As part of safety recall notice 19s07, i scheduled my local ford dealer (koon's/annapolis, md) for service on this recall. i scheduled my 100,000 service appointment to go with it. curiously, about an hour after making the appointment, a representative from the dealer's service department called to say while they could take the appointment that i was paying for out of my pocket without issue, the recall repair that fmc is paying for was not available to me until ... oct. 1, 2019 at the earliest. why is it that a repair/service that i'm paying for is available to me immediately, but a repair that fmc is paying for -- that required a "don't delay / schedule today" letter from ford to alert me about this dangerous situation isn't available until oct. 1?

Engine turbo, 100000 miles took to dealership to take a look at. dealer found nothing. at 108000 miles started having the same issues with truck down shifting and grinding and engine squealing.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact took the vehicle to town and country ford (5401 e independence blvd, charlotte, nc 28212, (704) 557-0596) to be serviced per an unknown recall. upon leaving the dealer and approaching a red light, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle stalled. after several attempts of applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, the vehicle began to move very slowly. the contact stated that the wrench warning icon illuminated. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 142,987.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 65 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise, the vehicle downshifted into first gear, and the engine lost power. the contact was able to park the vehicle on the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to thornhill ford lincoln (located at u.s. 119 north 500 ford fairlane, chapmanville, wv 25508, (304) 855-8300) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. the dealer stated that the failure was not associated with nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 157,000.

I was driving on the freeway in the fast lane. suddenly the wrench warning light and check engine light came on, and the car experienced what appeared to be a total loss of engine power. i placed the hazard lights on and was able to navigate to the shoulder, with 18 wheelers and other cars trying to react to my sudden loss of power and speed. after turning the car off, and restarting it, it appears ok to proceed. this same incident has happened now 8 times in the last few days. i took the car into ford and they are claiming it's an issue with the throttle body. i mentioned that i see a throttle body recall for 2015-2016 f-150's, but ford is denying the issue, indicating there is no recall for my 2013. i find many complaints identical to mine for f-150's earlier than 2015. they also claim ford denies the issue and refuses to fix the problem. most also reference concern for a significant safety issue, feeling that ford will only fix this once people die. i took my f-150 to the local ford dealer today and they verified it was the throttle body, and are charging me $650 to fix it. i have read from others that the component used to fix the problem is the original faulty component, so there is no reason to feel that the problem will not happen again eventually. i have experienced four times on the freeway at 65mph, and several times on city streets at 30mph. i was driving straight, not braking.

The ford motorcraft timing chain part at4z-6268a was replaced on 12/28/2018 and failed on june 11,2019. being a 3.5l ecoboost interference engine, their was consquencial damage to the cylinder and valves leaving the vehicle inoperable. the vehicle was at home resident and required a tow. the safety issue is related to a part that failed, fortunately while stopped, and not in motion. i am currently trying to address the issue with ford, however they are not standing behind their written warranty or providing a remedy for the part or consequential damage related to the timing chain resulting in the absence of any repair invoices.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 50 mph, the transmission failed without warning. the vehicle was towed to galpin ford (15505 roscoe blvd, north hills, ca 91343, (818) 787-3800) where it was diagnosed that the throttle needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 120,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled. the vehicle was able to restart and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to girard ford (450 w thames st, norwich, ct 06360, (860) 889-2601) where it was diagnosed that the fuse was melted and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the contact stated that the vehicle was covered by nhtsa id number: 10074713/manufacturer communication number: 15-0137 (engine). the failure mileage was 66,287.

The dealership's first available appointment to address the recall was two weeks out. after trying to get an earlier appointment as the transmission had shifted gears while we were towing a trailer down a hill almost causing us to crash. the receptionist then told us that they actually cant make the correction and that we would be receiving a letter in the mail and refused to take our vehicle in.

Truck never had a problem until i took it in for a oil change and to fix a recall problem. after recall fix the next week several times while driving on freeway at 60+mph the car suddenly downshifts in to a low gear and car almost co.es to a dead stop on the freeway. i pulled over and started the truck again and car worked fi e for a trip. then the next trip on the freeway the car did it again, this time i noticed a wrench pop up on the display and my speedometer moving up and down. eventually the speedometer went straight to zero, but still allowing me to drive after placing truck in (fake standard mode. after arriving home i parked car. turned off engine, restarted and speedometer worked again. call local ford dealership and drove car to shop. after having the car for 3 days they're telling me nothing they did on a software update would cause the problem. yet i never had it happen before and the recall was for the exact problem i'm having. also it looks like there was a recall on previous years that replaced more than just software. this is a serious issue. i don't believe the claims of only causing 5 accidents with no injuries. this has probably been the cause of 1000s of accidents and also deaths. but people probably are not realizing what's actually happening when a accident acurrs. after research it looks 5o be possible lead frame or speed sensor. idk but my family will park this truck and never drive again until fixed again the recall fix caused the problem, differently did not fix. 1.5 million f150 owners are on the road. i will never be behind a f150 again in case the have the same problem i did.

Driving on major highway, 65-75 mph, lost engine power and had to pull over, trying not to cause a wreck, and stopped between busy highway and on-ramp to the highway. found that the engine had stalled and wouldn't restart. found #27 fuse melted. changed fuse and was able to restart engine. i don't like repairing ford's engineering mistakes, nor do i like being put in danger because of them. i use this truck for work and have a lifetime's accumulation of specialty tools kept in this truck for my job. if the truck goes up in flames, will ford replace what is lost? the way this fuse, fuse box, and the connection has failed looks as there can potentially be a fire. in my case, there was an interruption in normal traffic flow, at high speed, that could a resulted in a wreck, injury, death, etc. i will fix this, probably on my own dime. what i don't understand is why is this not required to be fixed by ford. it's an obvious safety hazard that even ford has acknowledged and provided a tsb to address the problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact called on behalf of her husband. while driving 60 mph, smoke was detected under the hood and the tail pipe. the vehicle was driven to a parking lot where it stalled as flames were detected coming from the engine. a police report was filed. another motorist had a fire extinguisher and extinguished the fire. the contact's husband sustained burns to one of his hands. medical attention was not received. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 260,000.

Vehicle keeps dow shifting and up shifting have called dealer numerous of times with no information of when it will be fixed and i have came close to being in an accident as well dealership will not give out a loaner vehicle either and i need this fixed now it a danger to me and other people on the road

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 65 mph, the wheels seized and the vehicle hesitated. as the vehicle slid, the transmission gear downshifted and the contact lost control of the vehicle. the contacted swerved off the road and was able to brake. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, the contact was able to drive home safely. the contact also stated that the check engine indicator remained illuminated for an entire weekend. the vehicle was taken to perry ford national city (2050 national city blvd, national city, ca 91950, (619) 477-2711) where it was in the process of being diagnosed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 98,000.

Vehicle has loud ticking noise when cold started, seemed to be coming from passenger side catalytic converter. took vehicle to dealer for warranty emission repair, dealer stated turbo had gone bad and wiped out turbo. vehicle has 63,000 miles just outside of the power train warranty, dealer declined assistance and wanted $2500 to repair turbo and would then replace the catalytic converter. vehicle is very well maintained have all records, if turbo were to fail while driving it could have possibly destroyed the engine stated the dealer. why is an essential part of the engine failing at such low mileage? vehicle also has intermittent shifting problem around 40-45mph seems to shift erratically, dealer says transmission lead frame could be issue or ecm/pcm programming, they have not done any of those repairs yet.

2013 ford f-150 ecoboost with 62000 miles. currently giving cel code p0016. this is the timing chain stretch issue. makes it difficult to accelerate to pass a vehicle. should not have this issue with 62k miles. now that i am 2k miles out of power train warranty it is not covered even though i had it to dealer for service and nothing was ever mentioned with this issue. i have had the rattle for some time.

While driving the 2013 ford 150 ecoboost, it suddenly lost power, the wrench light came on.... tried accelerating but was not able to...had to find a way to move out of the street before something happened and have someone crash the back....horrible experience..after finding a place to park, turned the truck off...when turned it back on was working fine again while driving the 2013 ford f150 ecoboost. it suddently lost power, the wrench light came on, i tried to accelerate but was not able to. i had to pull over to the side of the road, turn off the truck and turn it back on. when i turned it back on it was working fine again. this has happened multiple times during the week. and ford is no help unless the check engine light comes on. it's is super unsafe to drive, yet ford says to keep driving the vehicle.

Ford recall number 19s07. 3.5 l engine. vehicle in motion. city street and highway speeds. problem. unintended downshift into first gear causing abrupt wheel speed reduction. no available remedy from ford motor company.

There is a recall for 2013 ford f150 's down shifting while driving. i contacted ford corporation and their explanation is. a fix for the issue will not be ready until the second quarter.

As i am driving in motion on highway or street the truck will down shift by its self causing me to skid to a stop, as i try to accerlearate it will not upshift, for a minute or two. this has happened many times! causing many near crash conditions.

Timing chain stretch due to design flaw. $3200 quote from ford for a fix. timing chain rattle on startup

Vehicle intermittently sputters when accelerating from a stop and also when the vehicle is in motion. i replaced the ignition coil and spark plug in cylinder 3. unfortunately, the intermittent sputter continues to be an issue as well as the check engine light being activated. accelerating in traffic and from a stop is dangerous and requires additional attention and driving techniques to prevent a potential rear end collision caused by a vehicle approaching my vehicle from the rear.

Approximately two months ago i purchased a used 2013 ford f-150 from a local dealership in warren, michigan. recently i received a notice in the mail detailing a recall regarding vehicles equipped with a 6r80 transmission ' sudden downshift (safety recall 19s07). after receiving my powertrain control module software update approximately two weeks ago from szott ford in holly, michigan, i expected my transmission to run smoothly. six days ago, while pulling through a busy intersection, my vehicle would not leave first gear. somehow, i avoided being hit from crossing traffic. shortly after avoiding an accident, the vehicle then switched abruptly from first gear to fifth gear (going around 10 mph). after pulling into a parking lot i turned the car off. when i restarted the car, it started in fifth gear. the car would not go into manual and would not leave fifth gear. at no point during this time did an engine light come on. after switching the car into four-wheel drive everything seemed to be working smoothly again. i immediately took my car into the dealership once again. the dealership has informed me that everything is working properly and since no engine light came on there are no problems to diagnose or fix. safety recall 19s07 did not fix this vehicles issues. last night the same thing happened again. it would not leave 1st gear. i put the car in park and the car would sit in second gear then jump to 5th gear. very dangerous pulling out in front of anything because the car basically stalls in oncoming traffic. safety recall 19s07 did not work.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 80 mph, the vehicle downshifted on its own without warning. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and then to luther family ford (located at 3302 36th st s, fargo, nd 58104, (701) 282-2350) where it was diagnosed that unknown engine components needed to be replaced. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the contact stated that the recall repair was completed in june of 2019. the vehicle was not repaired for the recent failure. the contact was unable to communicate with the manufacturer about the failure. the failure mileage was 128,073.

While driving on the highway at a rate of 70-75 mph, i noticed by speedometer twitch a few times. i focused on it while driving and noticed the truck downshift to 3rd gear from 6th, and the speedometer dropped to about 45mph on a dime. another instance i was driving home, and the truck decided to shift from 6th gear down to 1st, after which i quickly shifted into neutral and slowed to a stop on the shoulder. while driving on a dirt road about 40mph my truck then shifted from 5th to 3rd lurched and went back to 5th gear. an odd experience is when my truck, when in a parking lot shifted from 1st gear to 5th(???) i pulled over and placed the vehicle in the manual mode for shifting and drove a few miles. after which i received a wrench symbol and my all of my meters went into a dashed mode. i pulled over and turned off, then turned back on my truck and didn't have anymore issues. i took my truck into the ford dealership and they told me that it was an issue with the wiring in the transmission. we will see if that fixes the issue, however i got a recall notification in the mail for involuntary downshifting which make me think there is another underlying issues, other than the wiring.

While driving at 70mph noticed my truck had down shifted into 5th gear, i slowed to pull over and noted the airbag light was on, the wrench indicator and speedometer was at zero. my truck suddenly down shifted to 1st gear at approximately 25-30 mph. i was able to stop safely at the shoulder and turned the ignition off and restarted. my truck started normally. i went to ford huntington beach and described the situation. after evaluating dealer stated trans fluid full, poss lead frame damage and valves getting stuck. $1600! i informed the dealer of the pending recall for the transmission on this vehicle and was informed that it only covered a software upgrade. damage caused by a known fault should be covered by the manufacturer.

Vehicle stalls randomly while driving, no matter if it's on the highway or city streets. this is dangerous. it has been to the dealer 4 times. it's there now and they are unable to figure it out. ford is aware of this problem and recalled the 2011 and 2012 and some 2013s. but not mine. this vehicle needs to be recalled. it's an accident waiting to happen. it left me stranded it rural colorado in a snow storm in 7 degree weather with my daughter. i did restart but that would have been really bad had it not.

Widely reported- please read carefully! very similar to existing recall*, but not the same. potentially deadly. current recall does not address the sudden up-shifts mentioned here. 2013 ford f-150 mfg defect: molded leadframe assy in 6r80 transmission symptoms: intermittent loss of speed signal causes sudden/unexpected slamming upshift from 1st gear to 5th when accelerating from a stop, causing a complete and unexpected loss of all acceleration. indications: 5th gear suddenly indicated on display, dashes replace numbers on speed/mileage related displays (mpg, odometer). speedometer may read 0, airbag symbol pops on, large orange wrench symbol may briefly appear. pressing on accelerator does not cause downshift. motor may stall. remains in 5th gear without some other corrective action. turning engine off and back on will reset the computer, and vehicle operates normally until next occurrence. dangers: this could be fatal when pulling out into oncoming traffic, both from the side (pulling out in front of oncoming traffic from side street) or from rear (sudden, unexpected loss of speed/ no brake lights). ford cannot fix this by re-programming the vehicle to ignore the faulty sensor any more than you can ignore an oncoming cement truck or train. repair is approximately $800. if not recalled, owners may try to live with the risks or trade to an unknowing person, endangering lives of others. *this defective part is also the root cause of ford recall #19s07, involving sudden violent down-shifts (not upshifts). ford is avoiding the problem by re-programming the ecu to ignore the intermittent speed signals, allowing the transmission to fail more gracefully, defects to be repaired at owner's expense. this approach will not work for the up-shift problem. the defective part should be immediately replaced at ford's expense to correct both problems.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). while driving 40-45 mph in fourth and/or fifth gear, the vehicle downshifted into first gear and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to long-lewis ford lincoln (2551 john hawkins pkwy, birmingham, al 35244, (205) 989-3673) where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs, boots, and timing needed to be adjusted. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the dealer stated that the recall software remedy was not available. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: cas17397322. the contact was informed that the regional customer service representative would call him. the failure mileage was 94,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission erroneously downshifted, the check engine indicator illuminated, and the speedometer was inoperable. the vehicle was taken to shults ford harmarville (1300 gulf lab rd, pittsburgh, pa), but the cause of the failures was not determined. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 83,000. the vin was invalid..*bf consumer stated odometer quits working, speedometer stops working, will not work in manual gear, airbag lights come on, there is no power on the hill to get to the top. when the ignition is turned off and key is taken out hit lock buttons restart. vehicle starts working as if nothing is wrong. vehicle is erratic. manufacturer is reviewing the case. ?parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).? *jb

Today my wife was driving my truck with our two kids down interstate i79 at 70 miles per hour and the truck shifted itself too first gear locked up the rear tires and about made them wreck. i had too leave my job to get them off the side of the road and drive my truck back too work this is not only a issue but it could get someone seriously hurt

While driving at full speed (50 mph), my ford-f-150 went into "limp mode" and a wrench light appeared. the truck immediately decelerated without activating the brake lights and almost caused me to be rear-ended on a dark country road. i was able to pull over eventually. after shutting off the truck and restarting it, i was able to drive home but the problem reoccured several times before i could take it to the dealer. at the dealer - it was noted that this is identical (both in truck actions and electronic codes) to the 16n02 recall for 2011-2012 ford -f-150's but that mine was not covered due to my vin number not being part of that batch. i had the transmission repaired (as offered in the previously mentioned warrantee) so that my truck was safe to drive. there was no visible damage or wear to any of the parts that needed replaced. looking online - this has occurred in several 2013 ford f-150 according to message boards - and we hope ford will consider expanding the recall and preventing this issue from occurring to other owners.

2013 ford f-150 with 142k miles began rattling upon start up. vehicle has always had the oil changed per schedule and has always used full synthetic mobil 1 oil. dealership indicated that this is a common problem with the 3.5's even on well taken care of vehicles. repair was estimated at 3200.00 plus tax to replace chain. f-150 was taken in and w hen the dealership opened the engine they indicated that it was in pristine condition inside and no signs of sludge or indicators that engine wasn't taken care of. dealership also indicated that there is a tsb for these engines.

Tl* the contact owned a 2013 ford f-150. while driving between 30-60 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a new output speed module needed to be installed. the vehicle was also taken to jenkintown ford (1650 the fairway, jenkintown, pa 19046, (888) 503-1980), but no assistance was provided. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 69,100.

While driving and in 6th gear on a 2 lane rd, the truck shifted down into 1st and caused me to slide off the road. wheel almost locked up. i turned the truck off and restarted about 10 minutes later. placed the shifter in manual and used manual to get home. they next day truck ran but engine runs rough and trans acts up now and then.no damage but now the truck doesn't run right. i cleared the codes but not much better.

Today while driving 70mph my truck shifted to 1st gear causing the truck to lock the rear tires, swerve from left to right, rpm's to the max rev limit, loss of power, dash cluster went blank, wrench symbol showed up, then wrench symbol was gone with a blank dash cluster. truck then jumped to 3rd gear, back to 1st, then back up to 5th gear. pulled over turned of truck, took out key, re-started truck and issue was gone. this has happened multiple times, however, i was at 10-20mph. once at 55mph shift to 3rd gear, back to 5th, then to 1st, up to 3rd. every time the truck will end up at 3rd gear. the truck will not shift down to first manually, you must take of in 3rd gear without any power. there was a recall for 2011-2012 ford f150's. there are multiple complaints all over the internet with these same problems all with years ranging from 2011-2017. o feel this is an ongoing problem with a huge safety concern witb your vehicle going from 70mph down to first gear causing the wheels to lock up and swerve all over the highway. do people have to die before ford will recognize this is a problem with many years of the model!!!!! i'm happy my family was not in the truck when this happens. i car pool kids everyday on the highway. would you feel safe doing this knowing that ford knows about this issue from past years. please make these trucks safe!!! i took it to a ford dealer and they hooked up the computer to my truck, and the computer showed 0 codes found. every time this happens you turn off the vehicle, re-start it (sometimes you have to do it multiple times) the truck will drive perfect until it decides to act up again.

Transmission shift from 5th gear to first going 70 mph on interstate 285 in atlanta, ga. one time stuck in first gear. would temporarily stop if vehicle was shut off and restarted. printout from our mechanic describing the issue: " vehicles equipped with a 6r80 transmission built prior to 4/8/2013 may exhibit a transmission engagement in 5th gear when starting. the wrench indicator and/or seat belt minder may be illuminated, the speedometer reads zero and the odometer dashes while driving. symptoms may clear after an ignition key cycle. diagnostics trouble codes (dtcs) po720 and po722 may or may not be stored in the powertrain control module. the service procedure is to replace the molded leadframe on the main control assembly." nalley ford in sandy springs, ga did this on this vehicle, knew exactly the problem as they had had to do this before. in atlanta, if your vehicle downshifts that dramatically, you could easily be killed or terribly injured with the amount of big rigs flying around the perimeter interstate here in atlanta. i was surprised that there was not a recall on this flaw, and other similar, vehicles. i am grateful that my husband was not a statistic. would very much like to know what other complaints have been registered regarding this, not to mention the nearly $1,200 price tag. thank you.
