We have classified the 417 complaints from 2012 Ford F-150 about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
After accelerating to 70mph on highway on ramp, then partially releasing accelerator to match other highway vehicle speeds. the speedometer began to oscillate quickly between 10 - 60 mph, although vehicle was not changing speed. transmission suddenly dropped into 1st gear causing rear end to lockup and slide, engine over rev and loss of control. vehicle currently at dealership, no codes have been detected. symptoms seem to be the same as nhtsa campaign# 16v248000 for 2011-2012 f150 with 6r80 transmission for which i have, however my vin is not included as an affected vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle dropped down to first gear on its own. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and turned off the engine. when the vehicle was restarted, it was stuck in third gear. the vehicle was driven to the dealer (woody sander ford, 235 w mitchell avenue, cincinnati, oh 45232) where it was diagnosed that a sensor inside the transmission failed and needed replacement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 99,800. the vin was unknown.
Traveling at steady speed (no cruise control) on a four lane highway, approximately 60-65 mph, when the transmission suddenly shifted into low gear, likely 1st. the engine rpm increased to 5-6000. the sudden down shift caused the rear tires to loose traction resulting in a fish tail loss of control until i was able to reduce speed. i was very fortunate to not have anybody beside me and the car behind me had left generous space otherwise it would have been an accident. no warning lights came on during or after the event. after briefly pulling to the shoulder i was able to resume without any problems. i did not turn the truck off or restart the engine. the remainder of the trip was uneventful. i have not had any other major events with the truck. the day prior to the event i did have an episode where the air conditioning system was blowing at high speeds and then briefly turned off and then resumed blowing at high speeds as if the control system had reset. that may not be related but is the only other computer related event i have noticed. i will be taking the truck to the dealer today to have it evaluated.
Two times in last year vehicle shifted from 5 th gear to first gear, 40+ mph to first gear causing tires to chirp and high engine rev and thrown into seatbelts. hundreds of times vehicle shifted from 1st gear to 5th gear. nearly caused 2 different accidents because i didn't have power to go when leaving a parking lot to enter a busy road. i researched problem and found ford had issued a recall in 2016 for lead frame problems. my truck was not in this recall yet i have the same problem. ford customer service did nothing and told me to go to nhtsa. ifrom a standing tsb broadway ford in idaho falls idaho replaced the lead frame for$908. i have yet to have the problems reoccur. the recall should be expanded, the lead frame is a defective item and will cause loss of property and or life. please contact me for info on the old lead frame. [xxx]. the 1st gear to 5th fear problem was happening almost daily and there was never a reason of when it may happen. the problem scared my wife so bad she would not drive the truck. While driving approx. 60mph with a school bus behind me; my automatic transmission erratically downshifted to 1st gear and my tires began to squeal and reducing speed dramatically in traffic. ford f150 has a safety recall (16s19) that describes the issue but my vehicle is not included although it falls in the build dates and factory.
While traveling at a speed at which the automatic transmission was in 6th gear, the speedometer instantly goes from traveling speed to zero. this occurred several times in quick succession, each occurrence was accompanied by a downshift to first gear. each initial occurance had a duration of negligible time, seeming to span a fraction of a second. the physical response was a sharp jerk or lurch that planted me into my seat restraint. about half a minute later, it occurred a second time but the duration was several seconds. the rear wheels slowed to the point where the real wheels lost traction and the vehicle left the traveling lane. this occurred in traffic and the only reason there was not an accident was because of the awareness and fast response of those around me. the vehicle was traveling on a city street at 45 miles per hour in a straight direction.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while the vehicle was stationary and while driving various high speeds, the transmission failed to operate. on one occasion, while driving 75 mph, the vehicle downshifted and the rear wheels seized. the contact placed the vehicle in neutral and turned off the vehicle in an attempt to correct the failure. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road to move out of traffic safely. the contact stated that the failure occured while exiting the interstate. the contact placed the vehicle in park, restarted the vehicle, and exited the interstate. upon leaving the shopping center, the contact placed the vehicle in the drive position, and the transmission failure recurred. the contact stated that the power train shifted upwards to fifth gear immediately after shifting to the drive position even though the accelerator pedal was not depressed. the vehicle was towed to a nearby garage. glockner south point ford (155 co road 406, south point, ohio 45680, (740) 894-3673) and river city ford (4676 wv-152, lavalettle, west virginia 25535, (800) 240-1943) were made aware of the failures. river city ford scheduled an appointment for service and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. the contact was referred to ford's recall website. the failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
Down shifts and ruck jerk so hard. when you go from stop and accelerate, if you let up at all or break, it will do it.
Bought 2012 f150 w/ ecoboost new. at 91k miles, experienced loss of power when accelerating while merging into heavy traffic flow. as a result of no power, we were almost t-boned into the passenger side which would have severly injured or killed my wife. come to discover there is a chronic timing chain design defect and caused catastrophic engine failure at 91k miles. the engine was maintained religeously and oil changes were with nothing but high quality amsoil. ford knows about the timing chain problem with the 2012 3.5 ecoboost motor. ford mechanic stated the failure was most likely delayed due to using amsoil, the failures typically occur earlier than 91k miles. ford will not do anything about it. ford dealer is putting a new ford motor in it entirely at my expense. also the vehicle had a recall for a brake problem involving the electronic brake vacuum system. ford completed the recall but must have replaced the faulty parts with the same new faulty parts because it is happening again. ford again will not stand behind their product and fix or cover the costs of the design defect problem. ford even addresses this problem with their customer satisfaction program 15n05. niether the ford dealer completing the repairs or the ford dealer where i purchased the truck new are able to do anything about the problems because ford motor company will not allow them. ford is at fault and both are safety issues that they refuse to fix. these defects are unsafe and unacceptable. so much for ford customer satisfaction. i will never buy another ford product again!
While driving about 50-55 mph in 6th gear the truck suddenly downshifts to 2nd and then 1st gear. the rear tires locked up and the rpm's red lined. i skidded for a little bit and then it shift back into a higher gear and resumed normal operation.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle experienced independent deceleration and jerked. in addition, the limp home warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to j.c. lewis ford (9505 abercorn st, savannah, ga), but was not diagnosed. the contact was advised to schedule a diagnostic appointment. the vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the speed sensor was faulty and the lead frame needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and did not assist because the vin was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was approximately 80,200.
Driving down the road when the truck lurches forward, rear tires make a squealing sound from skidding. it was hard to keep truck in center lane of interstate and immediately had to make my way to the emergency lane. once i turned the truck off and sat for a few minutes it acted like nothing ever happened. i have read the reports of the intercooler being messed up and several years ago i had to replace that part due to oil and water entering it but ford says it wasn't under warranty due to a part not being covered. i have had coils replaced, spark plugs replaced, and now i'm having to go thru the whole process again. its dangerous and frustrating. i've had it happen a couple more times but not to that extent. the gauges will peg all the way to the right then go to zero and airbag light will come on. truck resets to normal when turned off and back on again. i have had this problem happen most of the summer. but this incident happened a few weeks ago. repair shop can't replicate it and the computer diagnostic test doesn't find it either.
Recall on 2011-2012 f150 lead fram harness failure my truck falls into the required date but ford says my vin # isn't in there data base under the recall
2012 f150 down shifted into first gear going 55 on the freeway towing a trailer. there was a recall for 2011 & 2012 f150. ford says mine doesn't? according to a report i have my truck was manufactured in the months of the recall? safety issue!!!!! scary ford needs to recall all 2011 & 2012 not pick & choose some trucks i payed $1,100 to fix lots of complaints on the internet for this problem!!!! i would like to get reimbursed
I was driving on the highway when my transmission slammed into first gear with both check engine and wrench light started flashing almost causing an accident. after this, the truck would not shift above 3rd gear. the truck was brought into imlay city ford dealership in michigan where they assessed the issue to be the lead frame which upon further research should be covered under customer satisfaction bulletin 16n02. ford customer service informed me that my bin was not effected by this recall and forced me to pay 200 dollars to assist in the repair of their known issue. i have received whiplash from the sudden stop of my vehicle. my worry is there are other vehicles out there not notified by this recall that is a major safety issue. ford needs to expand their recall to cover all affected vehicles and honor the full cost of repairs.
Transmission shifts erratically. from a stop the truck will sometimes shift from 1st to 5th and then back to 1st and get stuck in 1st. sometimes while in 5th or 6th gear the truck will just shift into 1st, causing the rpm's to spike and i have to pull over and turn off and restart the truck. this morning it did the shift from 1st to 5th and then back to 1st.
On multiple occasions the truck will randomly shift gears causing the truck to jerk and slow down. my truck will shift sporadically between 1st, 3rd, and 5th and then get stuck in 1st gear and requires me to reset the key to get it to shift properly.
Takata recall my truck keeps downshifting and locking up my back wheels on the highway. i just almost had a wreck and this is getting ridiculous.
Around the beginning of july this year as i was driving around my speedometer and digital gauges on my 2012 ford f-150 quit working and the truck began shifting very hard. i was able to pull over and restart the engine, and upon doing so it began normal operation. over the course of the next couple weeks it did this same thing approximately four (4) more times. the last time was the most serious as i was driving down the highway about 65mph when my truck suddenly dropped into first gear and almost forced me off the road along with my two (2) year old daughter who was riding with me. i was able to maintain control and guide the truck off the roadway. however, this time upon restart the truck, while parked, was continuously revving at about 6,000rpm's. upon a second restart it went back to normal operation. i called my local ford dealership, cavalier ford chesapeake square, and spoke with lindsay givens who told me it would be a "hot minute" before someone could look at my truck. i dropped it off after hours that night (07/20/18) with a written description of the problems. i was later contacted on 07/24/18, by phil causey, saying they were going to take a look at my truck the following day. i never heard anymore and upon calling the dealership on 07/27/18, and speaking to tanya howard, i was advised my truck still hadn't been looked at and phil was off until the following week. on 07/31/18 i received a call from phil and he stated that while they were driving my truck around it got stuck in first gear on them as well, and they located the problem in the leadframe of my transmission. the diagnostics shows my truck read codes p0722 and p072. this recall https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/04/27/ford-motor-company-issues-three-safety-recalls-and-two-safety-co.html covers this exact problem on my vehicle, however ford will not honor it.
While driving at approx. 40 mph on city street the truck downshifted to 1st gear. had to stop ,turn truck completely off and restart to get it to work properly.
Transmission frame rail trouble codes indicate a frame rail problem that had a recall but this vin is not included in the recall. transmission slips intermittently and also has gone into limp mode on occasion.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle's gear shifted without warning and caused the rear tires to seize. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (metro ford auto sales, 1000 barnes crossing rd, tupelo, ms 38804, (662)-841-1000) where it was awaiting diagnostic testing and repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 139,000. *tt the consumer the transmission harness had to be replaced. *tr
While driving at highway speed the vehicle's automatic transmission dropped into a much lower gear causing a tire skid and large increase of rpm. a "wrench" icon appeared on the dash. when i researched the issue i found that an recall for this problem had been issued for the same year, make and model but my vin was not included in the recall.
Radio, clock and heater-air would shut off. next day, the engine would start. all fuses were checked to be in good condition. when turning key onto "on" position the only thing that would light up was the odometer.
My 2012 ford f-150 is having serious safety issues that are addressed in for tsb's and safety recalls. upon contacting ford motor company, i was informed that my vehicle did not have the specific vin number that matched with their cases. my vehicle fits the recall descriptions with make, model, year, and even manufacturing location and has the exact issues that these recalls are about. the first recall is ford recall 16s19 : unexpected transmission downshift this will cause my vehicle to randomly downshift multiple gears. when it shifts down it also causes the rear tires are lock up and i have lost control momentarily trying to drive at highway speeds. this also causes wear and tear on the drivetrain. shifting the motor from 5th gear to 1st immediately sends the motor into a dangerous rpm range causing damage. the second recall is ford tsb 13-6-8: this causes me to lose all indication on my gauges except for rpm' s. i lose indication on my current speed randomly and also on all of my critical engine temperatures and pressures. this also locks the transmission into 5th gear, making it difficult to slow down properly and accelerate from a stop or slow speed. these two issues combine makes the vehicle a danger to drive. i do not feel safe anymore taking this vehicle anywhere and cannot trust it. i have contacted ford motor company both locally and at its headquarters. their reply is that they have to fix it. i was told to contact the nhtsa for further help from a friend who encountered similar issues with ford motor company. thank you for your help.
Over the last few weeks while driving at various speeds my truck would shift erratically( go from 1st to 5th, 6th to 3rd etc.). when it down shifts at speeds of 55 and above, the back tires lock up, the speedometer zeros out and the rpm gauge moves sporadically. after a little research i found there was a recall on this issue, (power train #16s19) but after speaking with ford my vin was not covered on the recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while the engine was running, the contact exited the vehicle to run an errand. the vehicle suddenly switched into reverse and crashed into a building. the manufacturer initially promised to pay for the repairs and referred the contact to a ford dealer to get an estimate. tri-county ford (4032 commerce pkwy, buckner, ky 40010, (866) 417-0262) was contacted and knew nothing about the arrangement. when the contact called the manufacturer back, they reneged on the offer to pay for the repairs. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the vehicle was still driveable. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 95,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 50 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle started to vibrate while shifting into low gears. the contact mentioned that the maintenance wrench warning symbol also illuminated. the vehicle was taken to woody anderson of madison (1638 hughes rd, madison, al 35758, (256) 217-8440) where the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall and the vehicle needed diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 130,000.
My 2012 ford f150 xlt supercrew ecoboost has about 85000 miles and abruptly went from about 30-40mph to about 0mph a few times now while driving. once time was very scary on a congested road. after this happened, its like my transmission misfires and misses gears all of the time. there is now a vacuum noise also coming out if the engine and it doesn't run right. i brought it to ford and they told me that i probably wasn't changing the oil properly (i had changed my oil every 3000-5000 miles regularly.), but now they said i messed up the timing chain and phasers and they had to be changed for a price of about 4000 dollars. i have owned other fords not ecoboosts and they all ran fine. i started doing some research and i am sure this is an engineering flaw on the part of ford. i actually read that the nhtsa did research on this topic. there are tons of forums that have the information on them and believe that ford should do the right thing and do a recall or fix the problem. i know its a big problem. i don't think it is fair to the american consumer to have to shell out that kind of money on a bad design flaw on apart of ford that almost got me into an accident bad one time and when my kids and i have to go to an erupt stop. i don't tow anything and drive the truck like a car. this shouldn't be happening.
As we drove 55 mph on straight dry highway our vehicle suddenly downshifted into first gear causing rear tires to lock up. we were fortunate that we didn't have traffic behind us. we immediately pulled off on the side of the road, put into park fo collect ourselves and then proceeded straight to the local dealership service department to drop vehicle off. with research on this defect we found ford had a recall out for this same issue (recall 16s19 which we never received) we were advised our vin did not fall under the recall therefore we had to pay for the repairs. we were not given a reason why even though our f150 is a 2012 and was manufactured in dearborn mi july 2012. (we were finally able to get $100 refund from local dealership, however it was after a lot of phone calls. not sure if it came directly from them or manufacturer and still does not cover out of pocket cost or months of time spent). after we picked up our "repaired"/paid for vehicle a few weeks later we experienced the same defect. we were taking trash to the local dump a mile down the highway going 30 mph and vehicle suddenly downshifted into first gear, mileage meter on dashboard blanked out and wrench appeared on screen. on the way into the service department driving 55 mph on dry pavement vehicle once again downshifted into first gear, mileage meter on dashboard blanked out and wrench appeared on screen. local service department could not diagnose on their own, we had to wait over 9 days for ford manufacturer to get back with them on how to fix it and send parts. they replaced main control/valve body in transmission, reprogrammed tcm (transmission control module) and cleared shift tables. again they did not cover any costs and we had to pay hefty bill out of pocket when this is a manufacturer defect. the vehicle is a 2012 f150 4x4 super crew lariat eco boost with only 41,000 miles on it.
The ford f150 ecoboost would have the tachometer and other instruments go dead, and the dash would display a "wrench" symbol. a times the truck would downshift on its own to first gear. the truck downshifted from 6th to 1st gear when i was traveling over 60 mph, endangering my safety and that of other drivers.
The vehicle will lose speed sensing and then the transmission shifts gears or is erratic and jumps back and forth between gears. worst case i was approximately doing 40 mph, speedometer went to 0 the truck shifted from 4th gear to 1st gear. usually the erratic behavior is at lower speed and lower gears, but is gradually getting worse.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 65 mph, the transmission would automatically downshift. the contact stated that the transmission made abnormal sounds and various warning indicators illuminated. the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle in order for the transmission to function normally. the vehicle was taken to star ford lincoln (1101 s brand blvd, glendale, ca 91204, (818) 956-0977) for diagnostic testing, but no failure codes were found. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the manufacturer was informed of the failure and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 164,000.
Vehicle is randomly shifting into 1st gear. it doesn't matter what speed you are going (it has done it to me at 45 locking up the rear wheels) ford has a recall on this , but our pickup isn't included for some reason.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving, the vehicle would jerk and lunge forward. the contact also stated that the vehicle would spontaneously become stuck in gear without warning. the contact called larry h miller ford lakewood (11595 west 6th avenue, lakewood, co 80215, (888) 927-9286), but was unable to schedule a service appointment. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 100,780.
When in motion the truck randomly shifts down to first gear and locks up tires
Despite not being included in the recent recall, my 2012 f-150 suddenly downshifted while cruising at 45-50mph, resulting in a dangerous sudden slowdown and lurching forward on busy city thoroughfare. two days later, a sudden stop resulted in a temporary check engine light. dealer diagnostics indicated the leadframe connector needed to be replaced. this is the same repair covered under the current recall that does not include the production that my truck was a part of. approximately 1 month prior, the truck was taken to the dealership for erratic shifting at slow speeds, but the issue was not able to be diagnosed at that time. instead, a transmission flush and slip-yoke lubrication were recommended.
In tow mode while going down hill at approximately 50 mph while pulling a 4800 lb camper. i tapped the brakes to slow down when the the vehicle shifted to 2nd gear. the rpms jumped up and the vehicle would not shift to a higher gear without feathering the gas pedal. this occurred one other time while pulling my aluminum bass boat. advised dpatrick ford of the problem. was told that my vin was not under the recall. the build date of june 2012 falls in the time frame of the recall. this vehicle has 41,100 miles on it.
While driving my 2012 f150 on the highway at about 65 mph i experienced unexpected downshifting from 6th gear to a low gear. the rear tires skidded and the rear started to come around. did all i could to maintain control. dangerous and scary. subsequently, i check and learned there was a recall. went to ford and the vin was put into the computer and i was informed my vin was not part of the recall. had vehicle repaired cost$1249.00. the problem the dealer diagnosed was identical to the recall notice issue. fix was to remove and replace lead frame. installing main control assembly and transmission pan. new fluid and codes cleared. what is also frightening is according to nthsa web site this problem is specific 2011 -2012 and 2013 f150's. i am under 150k in mileage and well within 10 years from date of warranty. there are many more f150s that did not come under the recall mine being one of them. nhtsa notes that attempts to fix the problem in recalled vehicles have been unsuccessful. what can i do? i have complained to ford and have an open case pending review. how can ford justify some vehicles are subject to the recall and others are not? especially when i have the identical symptoms and remedy.
On 7 occasions over the past month, my f150 has had 2 transmissions issues occur. the one to happen 4 of the times is that i'll be driving and all of a sudden it will downshift in to 3rd gear and stay only in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear. the check engine light comes on, the speedometer stops working, and the control panel/gauges stop working. if i stop, put it in park, and turn off the engine; it goes back to "normal" when i start it back up. the second issue that has happened is when i'm coming from a stop and trying to accelerate, the engine feels like it is in neutral for about 3-5 seconds, even when pushing the accelerator all the way down. this has occurred when turning on to another street with oncoming traffic and has nearly caused collisions because i'm sitting halfway in the oncoming lane. i took the truck to the ford dealership and they ran a diagnostic test and confirmed that the lead frame needs to be replaced, but claim that it's not part of nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000.
Driving on the highway, truck was supposed to shift from 5th to 6th gear, but shifted into first instead. happened 3 times today and a couple more times in the past week. tires squealed, throws your forward in your seat due to the sudden drop in speed.
The vehicle would downshift into 1st gear without warning, has occurred when vehicle was traveling approximately 35 mph. the vehicle would also remain in 1st gear after these incidents and intermittently when leaving from a stop, at an intersection. vehicle has done this several times, in which case the dashboard displayed an illuminated malfunction indicator light and gone into limp mode, with only 5th gear available, while in an intersection. this problem would also cause the odometer to read '-------.--' and the speedometer to read '0 mph', even when the vehicle is in motion, travelling at any speed. vehicle is in otherwise perfect operating conditions. diagnostic trouble code p0720 was displayed during these incidents. the manufacturer has customer satisfaction program 16n02 for 'certain' vehicles, in which the dealers are replace the molded lead frame within the transmission. in the case of my vehicle, this program did not apply to my vehicle, while at the same time, the molded lead frame within the transmission was determined to be the source of the issue and subsequently replaced. with my vehicle not applying for the noted customer satisfaction program, with the same faulty part as noted within the specific customer satisfaction program, it is my opinion that the affected vehicles with deficient molded lead frames is far greater than what was initially thought and therefore, the recall program should be extended to all f-150s and similar vehicles within the specified build dates, as noted within the customer satisfaction program. the molded lead frame failure should be considered a manufacturing defect and causes serious safety concerns for the drivers of those vehicles and to the travelling public.
05/10/2018 driving in a school zone at 20 mph the vehicle with out any input down shifted from 3rd to 1st gear. after which it refused to shift up until i pulled over and put the vehicle in park. no code was thrown. 5/09/2018 while picking up the kids from school the f150 felt like it was stumbling at 20 mph and then it kicked back in and spun the tires, no code was thrown. prior to this incident while driving on the freeway the vehicle on several occasions acted as if it did not know what gear to be in while going at a steady pace, the speedometer was bouncing to various speeds and then it smoothed back out. i took the car to a ford dealership and had them change the fluid believing at 110000+ miles and no way to check the fluid......the fluid may have leaked or just was worn out. a couple months ago on multiple occasions while driving on the highway for no reason the vehicle went in to limp home mode at 75 mph, and would only operate in 3 thru 5th gears until i could turn it of and then restart. it threw p0720 code with that code also pending showing the out put speed sensor. this truck is a dearborn truck with 6r80 automatic transmission ( see recall 16s19) but the dealership said it was a truck built in texas.....ford customer satisfaction program 16n02, nhtsa action number rq17010. as in almost all the reports ford claims that a truck built at dearborn does not ( by vin even though the it falls in the recall time frame and has the affected transmission, and the dealership even told me the truck was built in texas)
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving approximately 80 mph, the vehicle downshifted on its own and lost acceleration. there were no warning indicators illuminated, but the transmission temperature gauge increased. the contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted the vehicle normally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (mike brown auto group, 4950 east highway 377, grandbury, texas 76049), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer informed the contact that there were no open recalls for the vehicle. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 192,434.
While driving down the road everyday use the truck suddenly drops down to 1st gear sometimes causing the tires to lock up other times causing the engine to rev up. it has happened once on the freeway and quite a few times on the side streets i took it to the trans shop and he was not sure
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would inadvertently shift into first gear and the "wrench" warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to autonation ford frisco (6850 tx-121, frisco, tx 75034) where it was diagnosed that the lead frame failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact believed the failure was relevant to nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the approximate failure mileage was 90,137. the vin was not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the transmission downshifted independently and the service engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to bob boyd ford, inc. (2840 n columbus st, lancaster, oh 43130) where it was diagnosed that the powertrain control module failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (powertrain), but the vin was not included in the recall. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall; therefore, the contact would be responsible for the repair cost. the failure mileage was 106,000.
This problem happens at all speeds but most recently while on the highway doing 70 mph my truck went into first gear and locked up my truck rear end. i slid onto the berm of the road and almost down a hill. the dreaded wrench light came on, the speedometer went inoperable, the airbag light came on and the truck went into sort of a limp mode and drove real weird. the code was a p0720 output shaft speed sensor. of course my vin was not included in the recall even though it is a 2012, built in dearborn with the same transmission as the recalled ones, go figure! i have an appointment with sharpnack ford in willard ohio the day after tomorrow with the truck where i will pay $1000 to get the lead body in the transmission replaced. this is totally ridiculous that all vin's for 2012 are not covered. i own three fords and i am starting to wonder why!
Truck downshifts on its own i lose my speedometer no power have to turn truck off and restart to get it to work found recall on this but ford says mine is not in the recall.
2012 ford f150 - transmission lead frame the ford dealership (bolton in lake charles, la) is replacing the transmission lead frame in my truck. the vehicle, driving linearly at 35 mph, locked into 3rd gear and went into safe operating mode with almost no acceleration. the speedometer stopped working and a wrench light fault code appeared on the screen. the vehicle would not go into first or second gear or regain acceleration, even when stationary, park, or after restarting. the vehicle is an early 2012 production pickup from the dearborn, michigan plant, matching the recall criteria for nhtsa (16v-248) and ford (16s19) but the vin does not appear in reference to the recall for the transmission lead frame. the dealer refused to honor any warranty for this recalled defective part. the vehicle is dealer stock / unmodified and presently has 71,000 miles.
