Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the vehicle was taken to autonation ford littleton (8252 s broadway, littleton, co 80122) where they reprogrammed the transmission control module. one week later, the contact had to take the vehicle back to the dealer because the transmission was unexpectedly downshifting into first gear. the dealer stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was currently at the dealer. the failure mileage was 99,000.

The same day the recall 19s07 was released my vehicle did downshift before i was able to get it in to update the software. i was going about 45 mph when the downshift occurred. on 02/15/19 i was able to get the software update. recall was taken care of. the next day 02/16/19 i was driving then the wrench light came on and the vehicle will not shift. took it back to the dealership and got it diagnosed. truck ran just fine before the truck downshifted. come to find out the lead frame was damaged due to the downshift. did my research and back in 2016 ford issued a recall 16n02, which covers a one time replacement of the lead frame with the same make and models of this vehicle. the issue is still here and i beleive they should replace the lead frame as well due to the recall 19s07 created more problems.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the contact called dick smith ford at 816-353-1495 (located at 9505 e state rte 350, raytown, mo 64133) and was informed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the contact stated that big mike naughton ford (located at 150 s havana st, aurora, co 80012, (303) 343-1900) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the part was not available. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

I was driving my truck going to work, i was going about 70mph it was foggy and the roads were wet. out of nowhere my f-150 slams into 1st gear and locks the rear wheels, making skid straight off the highway into the ditch. my instrument gauges went scrazy, my needle for my speedometer went to 0-mph as soon as it dropped to 1st gear. when the truck finally came to a stop, i noticed that the wrench light and check engine were on. i shut the truck off and stepped outside and did a walk around of it and noticed that the drivers rear bed fender was pushed in. i started the truck up and notice the wrench light was off but check engine light was still. i put the truck in drive and notice on the dash that the numbers for gears weren't on so i put it in manual and it was on gear 3. so i was able to drive the truck back home in 3rd gear. i do some searching for this same 2012 f-150 fx2 ecoboost and seen ford has a recall for this same model and pay for a wrecker to take it to ford. now the dealer tells me that my truck is not cover under the recall.

Transmission downshifts on its own at any given time.

While driving on busy expressway in rush hour traffic, my truck suddenly shifted into neutral and i lost all information on dash (speedometer, miles until empty, etc). luckily i was able to pull over and no one was hurt. had to have vehicle towed. i was told that my trasmission has code p0722, apparently a common issue with the molded lead frame. i was also told that my vin was not covered under a recall and that i would have to pay out of pocket. very disappointed with ford's quality of product and customer service for a known issue. this truck has less than 56,000 miles on it and i am still making monthly payments.

While driving on a city road transmission downshifted into 1st gear and was stuck in gear. i turned off vehicle and it went back to normal. few weeks later it did it again. and then couple days later it began shifting from 1st to 5th every time this happened i would shut off and it would stop. other day it got stuck in 1st gear again and a 'wrench' appeared on instrument gauge. i looked on internet and it appears this is a common problem with this truck and that there is a recall when i called ford i wanna told that mine doesn't fall under recall. how can the same problem with the same model and same year truck be covered for some but not all trucks. this is obviously a know problem that ford is refusing to cover. this is dangerous and could cause someone injury or worse.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle downshifted into first gear independently. the failure occurred intermittently. the contact had to pull the vehicle over to regain control. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. ford of londonderry (33 nashua rd, londonderry, nh 03053, (603) 434-4141) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 65,000. parts distribution disconnect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving between 30-50 mph, the gear shifter switched into neutral and caused the engine to rev. the failure eventually caused the vehicle to lose power. the vehicle was taken to salinas valley ford lincoln (1100 auto center cir, salinas, ca 93907) where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle downshifted from sixth to first gear and then back to fifth gear. the vehicle then went into limp mode. the vehicle was taken to honolulu ford (located at 1370 n king st, honolulu, hi 96817, (808) 824-3981) where it was diagnosed that the molded lead frame needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

While driving at approximately 45 mph on a city street the vehicle unexpectedly down shifted into 1st gear. based on my research since the incident on saturday january 26th, 2019, it is the same as described by others and i feel it should be part of this nhtsa investigation. i took my vehicle into 360 automotive located in kennewick, wa on monday the 28th and upon inspection they documented that no code showed up pertaining to the issue and nothing was done at this time in regards to the inspection. there was a diagnostic charge that i feel is not my responsibility.

Ford has a recall, which is 16n02, for molded lead frame. i am being told my vehicle is not covered because the vin doesn't pull up, but i am having the exact problem that is covered by that recall. i have confirmed that my vehicle was built at the factory and during the time period covered by the recall. how do i get my vehicle covered under this recall? i have called ford customer service and was told to contact nhtsa.

I was driving on the expressway during the day when pavement was dry. sun was shining but outdoor temps were about 30 degrees. while going 70 mph, the automatic transmission suddenly dropped into 1st gear. the truck jerked for a second then seemed to go into neutral. i had no power to the wheels so i coasted off the freeway to a safe location. my transmission seemed to have completely failed. i proceeded to call for a tow to my usual service station.

Intermittent issues with driving downshifts and hard upshifts. sometimes the f150 shifts from 1st to third under light acceleration and will not shift out of 3rd gear. wrench light error comes on, air bag light comes on and the speedometer goes to zero and mileage counter all show dashes. pulling over and shutting off the truck works to clear the wrench icon and regain speed and mileage reading but the shifting issues may or may not comr back immediately. downshift to 5th while in motion and had it downshift from 6th hear to 1st on the freeway at about 70 mph which was scary. with this issue it scares me to drive due to the airbag light coming on at the time it downshifted to 1sr gear. if i would have gotten into an accident, would i have had no airbag deployments for me and my kids?

There is a customer satisfaction program 16n02 with safety recall 16s-19 on 2012 ford f-150 for a intermittent problem where a wrench symbol appears on the dashboard and the speedometer and odometer quit working and the airbag light comes on and the vehicle goes into a limp mode, there is also instances where the vehicle will shift back into 1st gear on its own which is what my 2012 f-150 is doing and ford is denying that my vehicle is covered under this recall even though it states exactly what my truck is doing.

Frame lead recall which already has a recall but ford is saying mine is not covered. truck slammed into 1st from fifth while traveling on the road. restarted the truck and the transmission was stuck in first. it then slammed into 3rd and is now stuck in 3rd. the recall states that my truck is covered but when i run my vin it does not show up. ford is refusing to cover the safety recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle downshifted to fifth gear. the contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle. after waiting approximately two minutes to restart the vehicle, it operated normally. the failure occurred approximately fifteen times within two months. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no failure code was located. the vehicle was taken to joe machens ford (1911 w worley street, columbia, mo 65203), but was not diagnosed. the dealer stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

This truck is spontaneously shifting down to 1st gear. it is also getting stuck in different gears and not shifting properly, ford supposedly has a customer satisfaction program extending the warranty to 150,000 miles for the lead frame, however i took it to my local ford dealership and they do not want to honor the customer satisfaction program. i called ford corporate and the same thing. not only when this problem happens does the transmission mess up but so does the instrument cluster, to the point where the speedometer doesn't work and the airbag light comes on.

Transmission revs high even after acceleration has stopped. buckling, rough downshifting. occurs while vehicle is in motion. even when not attempting to accelerate (even when going at a steady pace). problem seems analogous to 16s19 recall, but that supposedly does not apply to my vehicle. 6r80 transmission.

Transmission shifts erratically, jumping from lower to higher gears. while up to speed, immediately shifts to 1st causing redlining of rpms. speedometer jumps erratically. happened initially while accelerating from a stop. caused loss of power and feeling of misfiring, then sudden surge forward. after getting up to approx. 40 mph, transmission shifts to 1st and stays there. could have easily caused a crash if this happened while cruising at highway speeds.

I experienced a sudden shift into 1st gear and a blue wrench come on the dashboard while going 65 down the highway. this of course was not safe and i was able to control vehicle and stop it. shut the vehicle off and turned it back on and able to finish my drive. after this happened 2 more times, i contacted dealership to see if there were any known issues. looking at my vin they said there was not. so i took to my mechanic and they repalced the oss and lead wires to the transmission.

I bought it with @ 10,000 miles on the odometer. i have had nothing but [xxx] with it from day one. first off i put two new front rotors and brake pads all the way around and both idler pulleys were squealing so i replaced them . then at @ 19,000 miles i had to replace both cvj half shafts . now at 45,000 miles they are both shot again the cvj half shafts are . on the first of january this year i was driving down the road and the vehicle was running good suddenly it began to cut out and the power fell off on its face. i purchased an obd11 code reader to try and diagnose the problem. it tells me that random misfire detected and that cylinders 5 6 7 8 are misfiring . let me just say that 4 months later after going thru everything from the plugs wires injectors and replacing the fuel pump module assembly it is still not running and i'm at my end of trying to get the peice of $*** running. there is no way in [xxx] at 45,000 miles on the vehicle that i should be having all the [xxx] with the vehicle. i live in new mexico and we do have a lemon law here. i am beyond the shadow of a doubt sure that this truck is a [xxx] lemon. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle made a loud abnormal banging noise and the gear shifted from fifth to first gear without warning. the contact stated that the rear tires seized and the speed decreased to almost 0 mph. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and the gear became stuck in first gear. the contact had to manually shift gears. the failure occurred twice. fieldhouse ford (1400 s hallock st, de motte, in 46310) stated that the contact needed to bring the vehicle in for them to make a diagnosis; however, the contact did not feel safe driving the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 154,000.

My vehicle has code p0722 for the output speed sensor. the problem description matches safety recall 16s19 but my vin does not show up for this recall. it appears the recall needs to be expanded.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost power and failed to accelerate properly. the vehicle was taken to bj maurer ford (327 alwine rd, boswell, pa) where it was diagnosed that the power train control module was faulty and needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the failure mileage was 75,000. *tt consumer stated ford says the problem will be cured when the first problem is repaired. consumer states symptons still the same and transmission needs to be replaced.*jb

Driving at 50-55 mph in 6th gear truck switches into 1st gear and truck locks up.12

Experienced unexpected downhift into first gear at highway speed. transmission was erratic in gear selection with corresponding tachometer and spedometer oscillations.had six occurences with various degrees of severity .called ford help line .all they said was that there were no recalls on this vehicle. vehicle is " unsafe " to drive . got the truck into the ford dealer and hadf it coded. truck was showing codes for defective output speed sensor. the " lead frame " had to be replaced at " my expense ". no reprogramming was done because there was " no recall " at that time . the root cause was repaired but there was still the possibility of a violent down shift event . i have since received notification of a expanded recall to reprogram and prevent the dramatic and violent downshift issue. i am going to get the truck in asap to get this done . the original recall language stated that if the vehicle was having the downshift issues and tested positive for defective output speed sensor that ford would " replace the lead frame and reprogram " free of charge and also warrantee the components for i think 150,000 miles. i feel that i have had to make this vehicle " safe to drive " at my expense. the real fix is to replace the lead frame and reprogram . i was just lucky that there was no oncoming traffic when i experienced the dramatic down shift into first gear and had to manuver to the shoulder of the road . i feel bad for any one else that has to go through this. ford is getting off on the " cheap ' by not doing the " complete " fix. very !!!!!!!!! unhappy ford owner.

The car started with a hard shift from 3-4 gear. now (it has happened twice) on the highway, when accelerating, it will drop from 4/5 gear to 1 randomly.

While in motion my truck has slammed into first gear while at dangerous speeds. in addition, i have had instances where the truck has started in a high gear and would not exit 5th gear. at the same time the speedometer didn't work and the odometer displayed all dashes (i have pictures of this). my research indicates that both issues are due to a documented failure in the molded leadframe (part of the automatic transmission). the first issue appears to exactly match recall "16n02". the second issue exactly matches tsb 13-6-8. the fix for both is a replacement of the molded leadframe. ford is saying that my truck is not eligible for the recall (with no explanation) even though my truck is exhibiting the exact symptom specified in the recall and matches both the date and location of manufacture as well as the model of transmission. i had the downshifting issue happen years ago as well and that was serviced under warranty. however, i believe the dealer only replaced the output sensor and not the entire molded leadframe as specified and the problem has reoccured now - though luckily it is not happening often like it did before. this is the link to the recall: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/04/27/ford-motor-company-issues-three-safety-recalls-and-two-safety-co.html

This is an update to previous report: 11129849. following the initial sudden downshift to 1st gear the truck was evaluated by the local ford dealership. no problems were found, however over the next 2 months the truck began to experience frequent shifting errors. the dash gauges would quit or blank out and the truck would become stuck in a single gear, most often 3rd gear. the frequency continued to increase until the vehicle was taken back to the ford dealership, obd-ii codes were p0720, p0722. a previous ford bulletin described the exact symptoms in detail however ford reported my particular vehicle was not involved in the repair bulletin. after discussion with my local technician we elected to proceed with the repair bulletin even though i would have to pay out of pocket. this bulletin required replacement of the transmission lead frame. this has completely resolved the issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that the transmission independently shifted into sixth gear from first gear while driving 65 mph. the vehicle was currently at baxter ford south (9203 s 145th st, omaha, ne 68138, (855) 985-0071) for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train), although the contact's failure was similar. in addition, the vehicle was not included in nhtsa action number: rq17010 (power train). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

Big yellow wrench appeared on ip cluster while driving, speedometer dropped to "0", tachometer now won't drop to "0" reads high all the time. took it to the ford dealer, was charged for a "lead frame" replacement; tachometer still doesn't work; now i find out there is/was a recall on the lead frame.

I have experienced four incidents where my vehicle downshifted from 6th to 1st gear. twice on a highway while traveling 60-65, twice traveling 50 on a county road. this caused my back tires to skid and once on an icy road where i went into the ditch with no apparent damage to my truck. i have also experienced three incidents where the truck would not shift out of 1st gear when leaving a traffic light.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle downshifted independently without warning and made a loud clunking sound. the contact stated that the abnormal sound emitted from the transmission. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. a dealer was not contacted. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but not as severe. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Upon slowing down to 40-50 mph to enter exit ramp from an interstate hwy, the transmission began downshifting on its own to one lower gear to the next, in fairly rapid succession creating high rpm. i continued to a stop light in low gear and when restarting all shifts were normal. it only happened this one time and has not happened again. i researched on internet and see similar if not same issue on 6s19 - powertrain control module reprogramming - 2011-2012 nhtsa campaign number: 16v248. i went to ford dealer and they advised me that my vehicle is not covered. i entered my vin in the recall look-up and it also did not show to be recalled. after further research of vin descriptions, appears my vehicle may have been produced one day after the date range ford lists on its affected vehicle build dates.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle downshifted into first gear on its own. the contact had to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road. the vehicle was turned off and restarted, but the same failure occurred. the vehicle was towed to bishop ford (1440 us-6, bishop, ca 93514) where it was diagnosed that the lead frame of the transmission failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 71,392.

While on highway, vehicle downshifted into first gear, caused rear tires to lock up and took me off the road. then when into limp mode. happened to me multiple times. at the time 11/18 my truck wasnt recalled. they finally recalled it last week and arent paying for the repairs and diag i had to do in november.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission downshifted into first gear without warning. the contact temporarily lost control of the vehicle and it spun out of the right lane into a grassy area. the contact stated that all four tires seized and the vehicle was immediately placed into neutral. the contact was able to stop the vehicle. during the failure, the speedometer and instrument panel became inoperative. the speedometer gauge increased and decreased and the instrument panel lost power completely. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred. the contact stated that the vehicle downshifted and upshifted randomly. grieco ford of delray beach (3000 south federal highway, delray beach, florida 33483, (561) 278-278-0303) and autonation ford margate (5401 west copans road, margate, florida 33063, (954) 644-4976) were made aware of the failures and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. in addition, the dealers requested a diagnostic assessment. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the contact attached a diagnostic code reader to the vehicle and referenced diagnostic trouble code: oss sensor (p0720). the failure mileage was 119,218.

Driving 72mph on interstate 40 with cruise control on. vehicle unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. vehicle rear tires locked and vehicle swerved almost putting me off the road. was almost rear ended and run over by 18 wheeler. was able to maintain control and pulled over. after collecting myself, i drove the remaining 10 minutes home without any more trouble.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle shifted into first gear without warning. as a result, the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. the contact was not injured, but the driver and passenger of the other vehicle sustained neck and foot injuries that required medical attention. the vehicle was towed by the police department to an unknown location. a police report was filed for the other vehicle. the dealer (autonation ford corpus christi, 6250 s padre island dr, corpus christi, tx 78412, (361) 444-0125) was contacted to schedule a diagnostic test and stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls related to the failure. the failure mileage was 101,700.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that there was a sudden down shift in the transmission while driving at various speeds. the contact stated that the vehicle was turned off and restarted. the contact mentioned that more recently, while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle inadvertently shifted and was stuck in first gear. the vehicle was towed to j.c. lewis ford lincoln of statesboro (12130 us-301, statesboro, ga 30458, 12130 us-301, (912) 341-6767) for diagnosis and repairs. the contact stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa action number: rq17010 (power train); however was experiencing the failure related to the investigation for this year, make and model. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

Was driving on highway at 65 mph, when the trannie dropped into lower gear and locked up the rear end. the truck fishtailed for a few moments until i was able to gain control and pull to side of road. i was told by the dealership later that the leadframe harness needed to be replaced. however a safety reort came ut stating a sensor was to blame.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle downshifted into first gear and the rear wheels seized without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle decelerated to as low as 8 mph instantly and the rpms increased to 6,000. when the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, it would usually return to normal. the contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently on numerous occasions. metro ford of oklahoma city (2800 west interstate 44 service rd, oklahoma city, oklahoma 73112, (405) 438-3330) and sam wampler's freedom ford (720 south george nigh expressway, mcalester, oklahoma 74501) were made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train) as a potential cause of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle shifted into fifth gear on its own. the contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train) the vehicle was taken to joel confer ford of bellefonte (2892 benner pike, bellefonte, pa 16823, 814-355-5445) where it was diagnosed that the transmission lead frame was fractured. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 71,973.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the contact took the vehicle to bill mccandless ford (8416 sharon-mercer rd, mercer, pa 16137, (888) 375-7857) two months before he received the notice for other unknown recall repairs. the dealer stated that the manufacturer would reimburse the contact for the repairs. the manufacturer denied the reimbursement a week later because the initial recall was for a lead frame replacement. the failure mileage was 85,000.

This ford f-150 is equiped with a v-6 3.5 liter twin turbo engine and automatic transmission. it is 2 wheel drive. te problem is that when you are driving along at speed the transmission will suddenly shift into either 1st gear of 5th gear. predominantly 1st gear. the speed can vary from 35 to 55 mph. there is no warning. there are no codes. on one occasion the dash displayed a single large wrench across the display and the speedometer did not work at all. the only way to reset is to stop the vehicle and turn it off and wait then restart and proceed. on several occasions it happened a few tmes on one trip, about 1 hour trip time. on other occasions it has not happened at all. i have not kept a record of each occurance but i believe the total is aproimately 12-18 times. in all instanes the vehicle was in motion and on city streets or interstate highways. the roads have not been curvy but rather more straigh. to date there have been no injuries. this problem ha been occuring for about 4 weeks.

When driving, the truck would shift down to 1st gear without any warning, about putting us through the windshield. very scary. we did take it in and they replaced a sensor. expensive! i think this should be a recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle downshifted to second gear and then went into neutral. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
