Doors will not open. there is a defect in the cord that operates the door opening and closing.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 ford f-150. the contact stated that both rear doors failed to open. the contact called world ford pensacola (6397 pensacola blvd, pensacola, fl 32505, (850) 476-9050) and was informed that the door cable assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 66,670.
The frame is rusted to the point that it is unsafe to drive. using my hand to get leverage to look under vehicle as exhaust was dripping water. the frame crumpled and broke with the force of my hand. i understand 2001-2004 vehicles were recalled for the same reason.
I was driving down the interstate on the way to work around 8 pm. when the car in front of my slammed on their brakes. i reacted in accordance and hit my brakes pretty hard. when i did my truck pulled to the left and took me into the median. when i tried to correct my vehicle the back end started sliding out as i tried to get back on the road. when my truck finally caught traction it shot me to the other side of the road where it did the same thing. sliding the back end out. this time i was sliding perpendicular to the highway and when my truck found something solid to stop the slide it started to roll. during the crash i was thrown through the windshield after the first roll and knocked unconscious. after i was released from the hospital i went to collect the things from my truck that had been picked up. when i got to the vehicle i noticed that non of my airbags hadn't deployed even though it was a pretty serious crash that totaled my truck. the cab and bed of the truck were both crumpled but not a single air bag had deployed.
'takata recall' the frame is rusted really bad and almost rusted into. the truck bed is rusted in bottom and rusted all over. i bought this truck thinking ford didn't rust like this. please help me. truck is too dangerous to drive but i can't afford to get a new frame and truck bed.
The vehicle that is talked about in this is a 2006 ford f-150 that recently went in for an annual nys safety inspection and failed due to an excessively rusted frame that resulted in cracks on both frame rails. this truck has only ~50,000 miles and it is unknown how long the frame has actually been cracked and still driven.
My truck caught on fire yesterday. due to a heat shield missing over passenger side catalytic converter caused the plastic grommets that hold the sound barrier material on the floorboard to drop and hang on top of the catalytic converter until the material caught on fire. my insurance company is still investigating how the catalytic converter heat shield was missing. less than a month after i bought the truck and it was used, they had to do service work on it because i purchased the truck with a broken front coil spring and the transmission dipstick tube had rotted. even though the truck was missing a heat shield, i believe there should be any kind of flammable material near the catalytic converter just in case a heat shield happens to rot and fall off or for any reason the heat shield is missing .the fire traveled through the material almost to the top of my engine. after i got the flames out it was still smoldering and smoldered up into a space i could not reach to nor see. i also believe a fire retardant system should be created to douse flames in a section of an engine compartment that cannot be reached and would probably save countless lives property and invested money into vehicle and other things that a vehicle on fire could destroy.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 ford f-150. after taking the vehicle to a drive thru car wash service, water entered the passenger side. the interior of the passenger side became wet and the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Power steering hose rust and leaking-transmission hoses rusted and leaking - spark plug breaking off when having them replaced
While in passing lane of three lane west bound route 3 engine shut down, had to negotiate two lanes of highway traffic to get to shoulder while coasting. vehicle towed to repair shop. fuel pump control module failure. module corroded, holes thru back of module where it mounts to frame. *tr
Gas and brake pedal are too close together. you could still be giving it gas while you are pushing on the brakes. i see hundreds of complaints about this online.i was pulling into a parking spot when i thought i was applying the brakes the other half of my foot was on the gas causing me to jump the curb and crash into a wall. *tr
The frame broke where the front differential mounts, this let the front axle twist and you can not steer the truck!!! i think this is very dangerous, if you were going over 5 mph. you could not turn.ford factory rep. says the truck is out of warranty so not there problem, they will not do anything about it. ford should fix this at there expense as this a safety concern. how many other ford pick ups have had this same problem but not reported it because they did not how to or who to complain to. the ntsb should look into this very carefully to see if this is a major problem. *tr
Truck was at dealership for repairs, when i was told not to have repairs done because the frame is cracked and rusted thru. they said the vehicle is unsafe to drive. the truck is now worthless. in my 50 years of owning and driving numerous vehicles in the northeast, i never had a rusted frame issue. ford will not help nor investigate the situation. *tr
I am 6'5" and wear size 16 shoes. with my size and the distance to the pedal my legs go a little to the side and my shoe is at an angle to the petals lets say 30 degrees. i wearing typical work boot (like in ford commercials) which the laces have pegs the shoe laces go around. these pegs are the same as all work boots (red wings - $300 boot). what happened is because the brake pedal has a thick rubber pad that stretches around the metal brake pedal and leaves a ridge in the back of the pedal all the way around (so the rubber fitting goes over it like a shower cap). also the truck is an automatic and the break pedal is very large. while backing up giving just a little gas my boot shoe lace peg got trapped behind the brake pedal and was holding my foot on the gas pedal depressing it down. because the rubber ridge runs all the way around my pedal (as designed) i could not move my foot to the side of the brake pedal to release the gas. because of the thickness of my foot when i pressed the break with my other foot, it moves the gas pedal down at the same rate as my foot is trapped, so the more you press the brake the more you give gas at a ratio that does not let me stop the vehicle. (note i use only one foot for the gas and brake normally but with my right foot trapped i had no other choice but to use my left foot to brake and try to get it the truck out of gear . i could not do anything in time and hit a stationary building. if someone was behind me, they would have been killed. the only other way i could have gotten my foot loose is to depress the gas pedal which is not an option in a lot of situations because it would make the speed of the impending impact faster and harder. this is a design flaw that traps work boots and at certain times and causes loose control. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the cover tail gate fell and detached from the vehicle. the failure recurred and the entire part that covered the tail gate was missing. the vehicle was taken to a repair shop however, the vehicle was not repaired and the part was still missing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no assistance was provided. the vin was unavailable. the current and failure mileage was 62,000.
The passenger assist handle attached to the a pillar on the passenger side of the vehicle failed at both connection points to the a pillar while my wife was entering the vehicle. my wife was standing on the running board at the time of the failure of the assist handle, the handle completely separated from the vehicle and she fell off the running board with the handle in her hand, landing on her back against a curb in the parking lot. this is the third failure of this part since this vehicle was purchased new on 10/06/2006. the first failure occurred within the first 12 months of ownership. the second failure happened within the first 36 months of ownership. after each incident, ford replaced the defective part with an identical part. the first two incidents did not result in injury to my passenger. fortunately, my wife was not seriously injured in the recent event. *tr

I was driving my truck and the power steering felt like it was going out when i placed my truck in 4 wheel drive to drive up my driveway. i immediately called a ford service department the next morning to have them diagnose the problem. apparently, the front differential bracket broke away from the frame of the truck and was pushing up into the steering shaft knuckle prohibiting smooth turning. the 3 asc certified mechanics that looked at this advised it was a manufacturer defect because the bracket which should have had approximately an 8 inch weld only had 2 one inch spot welds holding it in place. until the problem was repaired, i could not use the 4 wheel drive. i was advised by all 3 mechanics that using the 4 wheel drive until repaired could result in a potentially dangerous accident. ford is aware of this manufacturer defect because they have a repair kit for this problem which is $600.00. they will not say what the amount of labor is until the repair kit is purchased. i took the vehicle to a local shop who said they could fix it for less than what a ford service shop would charge. the asc master certified mechanic repaired the problem by simply welding the existing bracket the way it should have been welded by the manufacturer. i contacted ford motor company and they would not take any responsibility for this potentially dangerous problem. *tr
1. i was trying to open a ford f-150 1/2 door from the inside to get out of the rear passenger side seat. as i went to grab the plastic handle to exit the vehicle, the front passenger was attempting to assist in opening the door from outside the vehicle. 2. my finger was pinched in the lever as the front passenger lifted the latch mechanism and 2/3 of the phalange on my left index finger was pinched in the handle and amputated. the door never opened, the handle was not fully opened when i yelled, causing the other individual to release the latch. i had to have immediate surgery to save the remaining portion of the phalange. due to the complete amputation, they were unable to reattach my finger. 3. to my knowledge there is not a correction to this event. my niece and nephew have also had their fingers pinched due to the design flaw of the interior rear passenger 1/2 door opening mechanisms. (this is my brother-in-law's vehicle. he is sending me the vin and other information regarding the truck. please contact me if you need this information.) *tr
The engine stalled and a mechanic later determined that a substantial amount of water was found in the gas tank. prior to the stall the truck had been kept in a location where it would be impossible for someone to put water into the tank. when i explained this to the ford dealership mechanic, he indicated that he personally had seen other cases where water had mysteriously appeared in a ford f150 gas tank which appeared to be attributable to the fact that rain water landing inside the trucks box drips through the seams and rivets of the box directly onto the fuel pump passing into the gas tank when it remains parked for a substantial period of time. when i googled "water in the fuel tank", i find that the first item to come up is ford f150 owners describing the inexplicable discovery of substantial amounts of water in their gas tank! (please try googling this yourself. ) *tr
I was loading stuff into the back seat of my 2006 f-150. the wind caught the front door and it slammed shut. the bottom of the door is extremely sharp and stuck into my leg. it required staples because it was to deep for stitches. upon inspection, the door is not put together properly and the edges are not sealed. *tr
The truck was purchased oct, 2006. june, 2007 upon approaching an intersection i moved my foot from the accelerator to the brake. the engine did not decelerate for approx. 2 sec. july, 2007 while driving 60 mph i moved my foot from the accelerator to the brake to slow for a left turn. the truck would not decelerate for approximately 3 sec. the truck revved to approx. 5000 rpms. as i took the ditch, the acceleration stopped. nov, 2007 i started my truck in the driveway. as soon as i shifted into drive the truck revved to approx. 5000 rpms. i stood on the brake as as the back right tire squealed, leaving black tread marks in my drive. i shifted into neutral. the acceleration did not stop. i turned the truck off. when i restarted the truck it idled normally. i took the truck to the dealership. they replaced the throttle body, claiming that should resolve the issue. dec, 2007 while in busy traffic in the rain and driving through a busy intersection, i removed my foot from the accelerator to brake. the truck revved to approx. 6000 rpms, nearly rear ending the car in front of me. i shifted into neutral and the acceleration stopped. i went back to the dealer. the service manager drove it for a week and found nothing. it was returned to us with a black box installed called a "flight recorder". we were instructed to press the button on the device at the next occurrence to capture data to "prove" the problem. the fifth incident occurred again in my driveway feb 2, 2008. as i shifted into drive the truck revved to approx. 6000 rpms. i stood on the brake as the back right tire squealed, leaving tread marks on the drive. i pressed the button on the flight recorder and shifted to neutral. the acceleration stopped and i took it back to the dealer. after a weeks time and inspection by a company engineer, we were advised the captured information had been lost and that the engineer believed i was accidentally standing on the accelerator in lieu of the brake. *tr
I have a 2006 ford f-150 that has paint peeling off the front cap just below the grill. what really concerns me is that i work for a large company that has hundreds of ford vehicles and most of the 2004, 2005, & 2006 models are peeling as well. what is ford going to do about this.. i find this very un-acceptable.. *jb

Tl* the contact was a passenger in a 2006 ford f-150 extended cab. the contact tried to open the rear passenger door and her hand was caught in an area of the door that broke her right index finger. four stitches were required due to the injury. that area of the door could potentially cut off a child's finger. the door should have a cover, andwas currently a safety risk. the passenger didn't have the specifics regarding the vehicle. *ak
I have had my truck serviced by the dealership three times since i purchased it in july 2006. the bed vibrates excessively when traveling above 45 mph, almost as if it is loose. there is also a noticeable groaning from the rear when the truck goes in and out of gear. the service manager verified the problem but does not know how to fix it. *nm
Dt*: the contact stated that there are 10 grooves in the roof of the cab on the vehicle. the contact expressed concern that during the winter, the grooves could fill with water and freeze. when the ice dislodges, it could become a projectile towards other vehicles behind it.
Dt*: the contact stated while unloading gravel the tailgate fell suddenly, severely injuring three fingers on the right hand. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined a plastic part in the hinge needed to be replaced.
2006 f150 fx 4 -4x4 super cab 5.4 l. i traded the exact same truck in an 04 model year for this 2006. ford has refused to fix ( for 3 model years ) : drive train vibration, drive train howl/whine. the 04 was in the shop 6 times with no fix. my 06 in the dealership now. i haven't made the first payment or the first oil change. problems not present on test drive. started at 500 miles. other problems include : brake pedal is mush. it never firms up. it will go to the floor. doors wont shut without slamming. super cab doors wont shut tight without pushing top in. my best fuel economy is 13 mpg highway with the cruise on. the "new" f150's are a disgrace to the ford name. $ 38,000 p.o.s. !! my last ford. *nm
