Problems with 2000 Ford F-150 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

2000 f-150 4.6l engine. blown spark plug, which damaged the driver's side head. ford will not approve of a repair, so either the head or the engine needs to be replaced.*ak from reading various ford forums and message boards, this is a known problem that ford should be held accountable for on the 4.6l and 5.4l engines.

I had $1375 worth of maintenance done on my 2000 ford f-150 at mak haik ford on aug.14, 2003, such as transmission & power steering flush, replacing fuel, air & oil filters, new brakes & fixing abs sensor, etc. when i got home straight from the mak haik, the alarm was acting up. later, i discovered the cruise control was broken. two days later, while i was in bww on westheimer, my truck combusted into flames (about 30-40 feet high). the truck is a write-off. mak haik blew up my truck. i want my $1375 back as well as approx. $32,500 for the truck.*ak

Spark plug launched from cylinder #7 (third back passenger side) on my 2000 ford f-150 lightning with 26,xxx miles. *nlm

Only after 30,000 miles the check engine light comes on. nothing seemed to be wrong. the longer the light was on the more the truck started to sputter and cut off while in drive. after being hooked up to a computer we found the oxygen sensor has gone bad. *la

While driving the vehicle stalled. *nlm

The consumer turned the vehicle off, and nearly 2 hours later, the horn began "blaring" and then the vehicle caught fire under the hood. *jb around 2 months before the fire the cruise control stopped working. never had repaired.. the cruise starting working for about a half hour one day then stopped working again. then the brake lights went out. one fuse was blown. replaced 4 fuses and they kept blowing with a flash. on the fifth fuse i started the truck up and it took the fuse without blowing. this was all the day before the fire.

The engine failed while driving and caused the check engine light to illuminate. *nlm

Spark plug blew out of head on a ford lightning (completely stock, never modded). this issue is a known issue with 5.4l motors, and is a $2000-$3000 repair that typically happens after the manufacturers warranty is expired. mine happened at 39,000mi.

I own a ford lightning pick up truck that recently blew a spark plug out of the diver side cylinder head. this was caused by insufficient engagement of the spark plug in the cylinder head, an engineering oversight that needs to be fixed.

Oil sending unit on ford f150, 5.4 liter engine is defective. unit will show no oil pressure, when infact there is oil pressure. several ford dealers in the columbus, oh area state they are seeing this problem several times a week. two other people where i work, also have had this problem in the last two weeks. one is a explorer, and the other is a expedition.

Head gasket blew while driving causing antifreeze to leak resulting in engine overheating and stalling. mechanic diagnosed head gasket as being defective. ph

Spark plug ejected from the motor while driving approximately 15 mph. resulted in drastic loss of power and extremely loud exhaust leak noise.

Factory intercooler is leaking at 41000 miles dealer said recall ended sept 2002 . bought truck used didn't know about recall now will have to pay $1500 to fix the problem ford knows about. *jb

Owner of a 2000 svt f150 pickup. svt recalled this truck for intercooler failures. these failures causes unpredictable engine failure. i learned about this 4 months late however vehicle is still under factory warranty with no modifications. manufacturer wrote an extended warranty but says it is not covered. ?????? *nlm

Spark plug was blown out of head. dealer claims head is not repairable, requires new head. no warranty from ford, they claim they have never seen this problem however the ford service managers at several locations claim it's a ver common problem.*ak

While traveling on the highway without prior warning. the vehicle will shut down and vibrate please fill in additional information dealer is aware of the problem. ts

Have a ford f150 lightning truck. 2 weeks after i bought it cylinder #2 blew the spark plug out of the head. all i did was turn the engine over and it blew. when the dealer replaced the head and plugs they found 3 of the 7 remaining plugs loose. if i didn't have the dealer replace the plugs, it would of happened again. i have all this on an invoice. dealer would not cover it under warranty. bill was $2300.00. *la

Vehicle is leaking oil from other parts of engine. dealership is aware of problem. *ak the consumer stated that after the work was done still had a problem. *yh

Exhaust fumes seep into cab causing consumer to fall asleep. consumer fell asleep once and woke up after hitting a guardrail. leak was so bad that consumer has to leave window cracked to drive. dealer found leaks in joint of the pipe. vehicle has been to dealer 5 times, and muffler was replaced to help back up.*ak

After vehicle started, vehicle ran rough. pure gas vapor (heavy white fog) pumped out the exhaust pipe. when vehicle was lifted for tow, gasoline poured from the exhaust system. vehicle serviced at mark ford mercury inc, 493 danbury road, new milford, ct 860-354-2226

Vehicle idled roughly. vehicle warmed up and idled roughly. also there was an exhaust leak. dealership told consumer that he needed a new catalytic converter because there was a bad smell, like rotten eggs. *ak

Possible engine failure is causing the vehicle to stall intermittently when reaching the top of a fairly steep hill. dealer ran diagnostic test but were unable to duplicate the problem.

Suddenly in reverse the truck took off like a rocket, driver had no control of the vehicle, rear wheels were spinning at very high speed.

My truck displays an idle vibration throughout the chasis, i have had it to the dealer 5 times and they have no fixed it, and now are saying that it is normal *ak

2000 ford 5.4l spark plug ejection ford knows of the problem' they should have to fix the flaw. this happened to my wife and child while driving, she nearly drove off the road due to the loud noise and loss of power. *tr
