2000 ford f-150. consumer states wheel rims started to rust out in one year *tgw the consumer also stated the bumper rusted out in one year, and the abs light illuminated. the brakes were inspected several times, but no problem was found. the high beams would not come on, the plastic on the outside rearview mirror fell off, the dome light in the cab wouldn't come on, and the tailgate wouldn't close, the windshield wiper washer, wipers and heating system did not work. the power steering pump leaked all the time, the gear shifter wouldn't go into park. the fuel strap failed three years ago and caused the fuel tank to fall to the ground. *jb

The starter motor was engaging while the engine was running with the key in the run position. i had to disconnect the battery to stop it. the heater blower, parking lights, dash light and gauges, key chime, and radio would turn on and off by themselves without a key in the ignition. according to the ford dealer, this was all caused by water leaking in from the windshield causing the fuse block and gem module to short out. they said it was a common occurrence with windshield leaks on 2000 ford f-150's. they had to remove the windshield and reseal it and replace starter, fuse block, and gem module. this windshield was also resealed 2 weeks after buying this vehicle brand new from the dealer in 2000. *tr

For the third time i am having to take my 2000 ford f150 in to have the heater core replaced the first two times i took it into the dealership to determine the problem. each previous time ended with the heater core being replaced. each time the issue is preceded by fluid leaking onto the street and into the cab. as it drips into the cab it gives off a pungent smell. the first time the heater core was replaced i paid 800 dollars for the work. the second time i took it in, i was informed that the issue was a common one but the warranty would cover the work for the heater core replacement at that time. i was told however that if i needed another core it would not fall under the warrantied work. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford f150. while driving approximately 5 mph in a parking lot, the instrument panel began to smoke. prior to this failure, the windshield wipers automatically activated and deactivated without assistance. the contact pulled over and inspected underneath the hood. he noticed excessive smoke, but no flames were present. the fire department department was not called to the scene. the vehicle was driven to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the windshield wiper motor was the cause of the failure. the vehicle was previously repaired according to nhtsa campaign id number 01v258000 (visibility;windshield wiper/washer motor); however, the failure persists. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were 90,300.

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford f-150. the contact has been experiencing multiple electrical system failures. the locks and windshield wipers worked sporadically or would not work when the switch was activated. the heater in the vehicle would also work randomly. the volume in the radio would increase while he attempted to turn it down. he called a dealer and the mechanic discovered nhtsa campaign id number 00v072000 (electrical system:fuses and circuit breakers), but it only applied to the ford explorer. the contact was experiencing the same failure as noted in the recall. the vehicle is being taken to the dealer on january 5, 2009 for a diagnosis. the failure mileage was 145,000 and current mileage was 150,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford f150. on march 8, 2008, after activating the windshield wipers, the wiper motor caught fire. the contact was able to extinguish the fire. the vehicle is currently being diagnosed by the insurance company. there were no warning lights; however, the passenger side windshield wiper stopped working the previous night. the contact thought the failure was due to the snow on the wipers, but after they were cleaned, the wiper failed to operate. the current and failure mileages were 118,000.

My window on my ford f150 was leaking. water leaked into the cab and into the gem and fusebox. first, my fan stayed on after the key was removed. then a buzzing sound came from around the fusebox. then a beeping sound started coming from around the fusebox. lastly i was driving on the freeway and the whole truck began shaking. it was hard to distinguish what the problem was, flat tire, broken axle? i parked the truck, and went to start it again, and the same shuddering came from the engine. this is very dangerous. i began looking on the internet and found that many people with f150's, expeditions, navigators, etc were all having this problem from years 97-03. this should be a recall - this is very hazardous! *tr

When it rains or snows, water leaks from around the windshield onto fuse box causing electrical failure of wipers, damage to relays, battery draining to dead, and failure of other electrical components. the windshield has no chips or cracks ! *tr

I own a 2000 ford f-150 and yesterday the heater core starting leaking. this truck has been serviced according to the manual. i only have 64000 miles on it. i have contacted several repair shops and was told that ford has had problems with the core failing and that they had a recall on it. i contacted several ford dealerships in my area and was told there was no recalls on this problem. i have had estimates of from $600.00 to $800.00 to fix the problem. i am going to get it fixed but i would like to know if there was a recall on this problem ?????? this part should not have failed this soon. *nm

Dt: 2000 ford f150. the contact stated the windshield wiper motor had to be replaced because it quit. the mechanic thought it may be under recall so he advised the contact to call ford and inquire. ford stated there was no recall based on the vehicle identification number. the contact then found recall, 01v258000. the contact would like to be reimbursed for the work he had done to his vehicle. the motor was replaced on september 1, 2005. *ak updated 11/16/05. *jb

Windshield wipers, radio, door locks and air conditioning started acting erratically after a heavy rain. even after turning vehicle off and removing the key, the problems persisted. we had just purchased this truck from goodson acura of irving, tx and had it towed to payton wright ford in grapevine, texas due to warranty requirements. the service manager informed us that generic electronic module had been damaged due to windshield leak. a carfax report indicated that truck had not been reported to have any accidents. the manufactured windshield was not covered in our warranty and it seems we have no recourse but to pay over $1200.00 to ford to fix this since there does not seem to be a market for generic electronic modules. this is a very dangerous problem with this vehicle and we do not have the money to fix it at this time, so we are left with a dangerous vehicle that could have injured us or others had we not been near our home at the time of occurrence. after researching this generic electronic module, i have found that there have been some recalls on other ford vehicles made in 1996-2001. many customers have had same complaint of windshield defect leading to corrosion of fuse system and modules. i would like to register this complaint because ford offers no solution to this problem when i believe that they are well aware of this defect. *another thing we noticed was that the carfax report indicated that vehicle had 31,000 miles on it in july of 2003; however, when we purchased vehicle the mileage was different listed at 30,933. the carfax report was given to us by dealership and i am looking into this discrepancy currently. *jb

Approximately 3-4 weeks ago i was driving my 2000 ford f150 pickup on i96 during rush hour in lansing, mi. there was a sudden thunderstorm with hail. i turned my windshield wipers on the fastest speed and after approximately 2- 3 minutes the passenger side wiper got out of sync and jammed under the driver side wiper causing both of them to stop working. traffic was going fairly fast and i lost what visibility i did have. fortunately i was going by an exit and could quickly get off the expressway to wait out the storm. when i got home from work i took the cover off the passenger wiper and had to tighten the nut that holds it on. they have worked fine since then but i would not want to have this same thing happen to someone else if they are on an expressway during a thunderstorm. (ps: the incident date i but on the form is approximate. i didn't think of reporting this until i heard an nhtsa commercial today saying to report safety incidents.). *nlm

Crack by drivers window and rust on interior inside of door. *ak

I am experiencing what ford describes as cracks in the door sheet metal on the driver's side door. this may be due to the repeated use of power windows leading to metal fatigue. the truck isn't but 2 years old; this should not happen.

Crack is through paint. no safety defect. *ak

There's a white powdery dust coming out of the defroster and heater. the ventilation system is on the whole time you drive the truck so it is blowing in your face all the time you are in it. i've been having problems with my eyes and sinuses and thought that it was from the pollen this time of year. went to the ford dealership and they didn't know what it could be. now i'm worried about it might be making me and other people that ride in the truck sick. can't find anyone to tell me what the powder is so my doctor can treat me. please tell me you can help . any imformation will help me . thanks toni lynn kleeba
