On 2 separate occasions the truck loses power while driving. this effects the engine, power steering basically anything that uses power. this has happened while driving 65mph and 35-40mph. one time it happened on a street, the other time was while driving on the highway. this is very dangerous.
On january 11, 2020, i turned on the ignition of my 2017 explorer sitting in my driveway and immediately had 4 warning lights and multiple error messages appear. it was the abs, stability control on and off lights and a wrench. then there were multiple messages about my four wheel drive not working. i turned the car on and off several times trying to get all of the messages and to see if it would clear. after the third restart the entire dash panel went out completely except for the radio which stayed on continuously for 3 days until it got to the dealership on monday. none of the vehicles basic necessities were working...no speedometer, gas lights, wipers, or climate control, etc. only the engine, headlights, and taillights worked. the dealership is currently working on the vehicle and is claiming it is a battery problem. the service department has admitted they don't know if it will fix the problem but they are going to try it. they also stated that "the vehicle cleared itself after the battery died which it's not supposed to do". i have seen multiple reports about the exact same problem with different items being replaced, ...
The interface module on ford explorer stop working and hazard lights stay on and only fix and by a dealership
Both driver and passenger door lock/latch mechanisms failed showing car door is ajar when door is actually shut. driver door lock actuator failed around 30,000 miles and passenger lock actuator failed around 135000 miles. when driving at night, the interior lights of car cannot be turned off until speed reaches approximately 10 mph. this leads to unsafe driving conditions and limits driver visibility outside of car due to glare.
Deep sleep mode activates after 2 days. most recent experience involved having to jump start the car after setting 3 days.
I bought my explorer brand new. at 28,000 miles the battery was leaking and was replaced under warranty. the other day i did an oil change and noticed the battery was leaking again and causing corrosion. the acid is clearly visible on the battery. my vehicle is still under 3 years old and under 36 months. the battery is from 8/18/18. now my vehicle has 52000 miles. three different ford shops coggin deland, gary yeoman, mullinax ford refuse to replace it due to it being "original battery". this is poor customer service and no reason this should happen. when i asked gary rep if this was common and they stated "yes we see this alot and thats why we offer 7 year batteries". there is something wrong when a battery is being used per year per 28000 miles.
While driving on street or hi way the dash light turn off and on. this is very dangerous at night.
It's an intermittent problem. the electric power steering goes on and off. it does so while still or even while driving.
The fuel gauge on the instrument panel is reading that the fuel tank is almost full, however while driving the low fuel warning sensor came on and we nearly ran out of fuel. the gauge was still reading almost full. we barely made it to a gas station. after putting in a full tank of gas, the fuel gauge was showing a completely full tank. since then, the gauge is always showing almost completely full and will go down only to almost full, not quite as low as 3/4 full tank, even if you have driven over 300 miles. now we have to re-set the trip odometer every time we get gas, so we can calculate approximately how many miles we have driven since the fuel gauge only goes down slightly below full. this occurred around 50,000 miles.
Started the ford and the backup camera was not functioning. also noticed the 'sync' screen was blank, climate controls were not visible (functioning) as well as the radio system was not functioning. went out and started the suv in my driveway, everything was correct when i returned home the night before.
