I was driving my 2015 ford escape going about 50mph when my steering wheel just froze. it took all of my strength to try to turn the wheel so i could get myself off the main road and out of everyone's way. i got myself to the side and couldn't turn the wheel at all. luckily my family wasn't too far so my dad was gonna help me get my car home but he couldn't even turn the wheel. we had to call for a tow truck. also my 2015 ford escape would stall after pumping gas, taking several attempts to start my car and at times not starting at all after filling my tank. it has stalled on me serversl times while driving on the main road leaving me stranded and holding up traffic on busy roads. low tire pressure/ tire pressure sensor fault warning light appears often even though all tires are at correct pressures abs and traction control appears noisy cabin makes buzzing noises behind stereo even when car is off stereo malfunctions happen often where cds get stuck and stereo says 'no cd' while trying to eject it.
Instrument panel turned white and stopped working.....thought it was on recall ....but ford told me no....we have had it fixed ....

About 6 months ago, the radio and it's computer system stopped working. while the display works, the system responsible for laying sound no longer works, and the touch screen is rarely responsive.
After auto parked overnight on 04/26/2019, in heated garage, no power to start engine, nor operate lights, radio, etc. in the next morning. no battery to power any equipment. aaa service attendant jump started auto. battery tested 100% power after several minutes of run time on engine. 2nd occurrence in 12 months. i was told this is called a "brain freeze" and is not uncommon for ford product. original battery in vehicle replaced 04/27/2019.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford escape. the contact stated that the instrument cluster failed to operate properly, which caused the gauges and warning indicators to become inoperable. eby ford lincoln (2714 elkhart rd, goshen, in 46526, (574) 534-3673) was notified and stated that the failure was the same as ford recall number 15c03: (instrument cluster may be inoperative/fmvss); however, the vehicle was excluded. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and also indicated that the vehicle was excluded from the manufacturer recall campaign. the failure mileage was not available.
Whenever driving my car, it noticably takes longer than it should to shift causing my rpms to run higher than expected. for instance doing 35 i might be running at 2500-3000 rpms for about 15 to 20 seconds before shifting and causing my rpms to go down to around 1500.
Car totally shut down in traffic at a stop in rush hour traffic. no electric functions. could not put on hazards, ,could not roll down windows. car had to be towed.
We have owned the car , 2015 ford escape suv, for 70 days (certified pre-own). drove it on a tuesday. went to start it on a wednesday, and it would not fire or start. warning messages included no key fob found-turn off vehicle-call service (although i had both in the car); 4 wd drive off; slis not available-call service. if it did fire, as soon as the car was put in gear, all the messages flashed and the car shut down. it was towed. in looking at the nhtsa site for complaints, it's time to make ford culpable.
When the vehicle is park it kills the battery so we found that cluster is killing the battery we under plug the cluster for like three day and the battery was good and also its a new battery we put in the vehicle but we plug it back in and after 1 day battery dead so we know there some recall on 2015 ford escape about the cluster be inoperative but ford said there no recall nhtsa has it list as recalls
Vehicle stopped operating. once i waited a few hours, the engine started but the audio is completely gone.
Electrical problem: on my 2015 ford excape ive had only abfew months at 40,000 mfiles the dash board lights and keys go crazy when vehical is turned off then cant unlock doors. when cut car back on computers are black. was drive down the road and computer goes blank just like you cut the car off lost all electrical use. had to wait a few mins to restart car. i called dealer and they say no recall on my vehicle. as i read the reviews my excape is doing the same as others. i think ford should fix this as it is the same as others like this excape.
My multiple function display has gone blank which displays all warning chimes, messages and mileage. i contacted ford customer service about the recall they had that was submitted on that model and year and they told me my vehicle was not included. because of the same exact thing described in the recall i feel ford should repair my vehicle at no charge. recall # 15c03 thank you!
I was sitting i the truck letting it warm up before i started my day i was scrolling threw my phone i looked up i saw hudge flames i reached to unlock the door when i realized the locks stopped working i was locked in the car luckily i had my windows cracked enough to reach out and open the door the radio blew up on my way out the car it was so hot i didn't expect anything i never had this problem before scared me to death worst car experience of my life i was scared to death i can't explain how bad i feel my truck was my new best friend i kept the truck clean pretty i'm hurt it's burned all up almost took my life if i would have look up any later i would have died
Driving along and the dashboard went off and on. windows won't go up or down. no lights. everything was flashing. car only has 22,000 miles on it. it is also always kept in the garage. electrical system problems. it's an sel and 6 cylinders. i was on a city street and just drove it straight to bill knight ford. they gave me no car and i'm single so it's my only means of transportation. i am also a retired teacher and it is difficult to buy a car. i expect more out of a fairly new car.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford escape. when the vehicle was started, the instrument panel went blank without warning. the vehicle was taken to sakelaris ford of versailles (573-378-4653, located at 1001 w newton st, versailles, mo 65084) where it was stated that there was no recall. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 41,000. *tt*jb
Occasionally, when operating multiple windows from the driver's door panel, the locks engage or disengage. thus far, this symptom only happens in park. also, upon placing the key in the ignition and turning to acc, the vista roof occasionally begins to retract without the operator touching any of the vista roof controls.
I was driving the vehicle on two occasions and the instrument panel went blank which left me with no instruments or headlights. it is currently at beyer ford dealership in morristown nj and they have told me that the body control module has failed. i see a recall for 2015 ford escapes manufactured in louisville ky during the time my vehicle was manufactured. my vehicle was not included in this recall. the recall # is 15v406000 on your website.
The instrument panel cluster screen multiple function display failed to display information. the multi function display would show either a black or gray screen, periodically with white lines, with no readouts showing at all. apparently a recall (15co3) was announced and the dealer performed the recommended software update at 32,837 miles which did not solve the problem permanently. the problem reappeared at approximately 39k miles. the dealer attempted to make repairs using a software update. the software update failed to remedy the problem and the dealer installed a new instrument cluster at my expense. i am asking you if this should be covered under the original recall or if an additional recall has been established or should be established.
The message center on my instrument cluster went blank nothing on the screen it's all white
The battery is mounted with a top strap that keeps the battery in the box, but it does not prevent the battery from moving around in the box. the positive cable that attaches to the battery is very rigid - it does not allow the free movement of the battery. result: the positive battery post is being stressed severely, causing battery failure, including intermittent operation due to the positive battery post movement (not supposed to happen) making open and then closed circuit connections. it is possible/probable that this condition will result in an explosion. poor design. if the engineers want to allow the battery to move within the box, they must provide a free-floating positive battery cable, or modifications must be made to secure the battery so it does not move. there are many ford escape owners experiencing the same type of battery problems i have had, on the fordescape.org forum. there are several photos of ford escape battery explosions on the internet. hoping you can act fast before someone is injured!
As i am driving the vehicle, the battery light comes. with minutes, i have now power to the steering wheel and the car battery is dead completely. the battery and alternator checks out fine. once the battery has been fully charged, the battery light goes off. the next day, same exact thing happened. i am stranded both times. i call the dealer where i bought it, asheville ford, to have them tow in to look at it. they are too busy and look at it for 2+ weeks. i have to call a dealer 40 miles away from me and have it towed to them. was told by the service dept. that it is a common complaint and they need to 'flash' or re- set the computer system at a 200$ cost to me. this is infuriating.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford escape. the contact stated that the instrument panel was completely blacked out and did not show the fuel level, speed, or any other gauge. jones ford (2410 ocean hwy w, shallotte, nc 28470, (910) 754-4341) stated that they would have to charge for a diagnostic test. the dealer provided the carfax information, which showed that the vehicle was previously involved in a crash prior to being purchased by the contact. the contact was not informed of this by quality ford (1242 s madison st, whiteville, nc 28472, (800) 530-0978) when the vehicle was purchased. the manufacturer stated that there was no current recall and mentioned reimbursement if a recall was issued after the repairs. the contact was advised to save her receipts. the failure mileage was 31,000. *bf *tr
The vehicle was sitting parked under a carport for almost 24 hrs. when it inexplicably caught fire. the ensuing fire burned the carport and spread to the structure causing extensive property damage to the exterior and interior of the residence. a passerby made the elderly occupants of home aware of the fire and they were able to get out. the area of fire origin was identified as being on the passenger side of the engine compartment. there appears to be some other evidence and/or instances of fires in these vehicles occurring the same way.
I have owned my 2015 escape since march 2016. beginning 6 weeks ago the car failed to recognize the ford key. had car towed. told battery needed to be replaced. replaced both car and key fob batteries. within 7 days the car refused to start after sitting in the garage for 3 days. had to get it towed and the battery recharged. third time the car refused to start it had been driven and then left sitting for 5 days. once again had to have a jump start. took into dealership and told diagnostic info states no issues. technician is unable to duplicate car refusing to recognize key fob or not starting. explained that car once jumped started runs fine as long as i drive it day to day. once it has been sitting for 2 or more days does it again refuse to start. appears that something somewhere within the electrical system is pulling all the juice out of the battery regardless of what the onboard computer says. second issue with this car has been the rear hatch. technician inspected the rear hinges and said they are bent so when you close the hatch using the button on the hatch or key fob, hatch comes down but won't latch tight and goes back open. if you manually slam the hatch shut, the latch seemed to be tight however my hatch is not square anymore. it is tight to the passenger side but has a 1/4 gap on the right side which lets in air and water into the car. told that i'd need to have a body shop take the hatch off and replace both hinges. this car has never had an accident nor has it been treated roughly so explain to me how the hatch got out of alignment to the point it is causing issues with shutting tightly? this seems to be a design flaw where the hinges installed are too light weight to stand up to normal wear and usage. living in the upper midwest this car is exposed to winter weather including salt and road sand which in turn can get into open spaces and rust.
The engine continue to run after the key is turned to off. i had the key in my hand and the car continue turned on. i had to disconnect the battery to turn off the car. i tested the car in drive without the key and it was in motion like normal, just without the key.
36,000 miles and the digital dashboard display goes completely blank and cannot be rebooted. dealer advises that entire unit must be replaced at a cost of approx. $1000! unbelievable. some models 2014-2015 were recalled due to this exact problem, but apparently mine was not according to the vin
Car starts/stops intermittently. will continue to run at times with the engine switched off and key removed. instrument cluster will completely blackout at anytime without notice. starter will stay engaged after starting. stationary and moving without warning on the interstate, doesn't matter where it may be it has become dangerous to drive.
Squirrels got into the electrical wiring causing the park assist, hood latch warning, front lights, front, left, right, and rear proximity warning sensors to not operate properly. vehicle was parked in my driveway next to my truck which did not receive any damage. i have become aware of three other incidents of the same problem. research indicates ford has switch to a sucrose based insulation which attracts rodents. i have also seen a advertisement for duct tape with rodent repellent to stick over the insulation.
Purchased 2015 ford escape on may 1, 2015. in february of 2016 the windshield wiper fluid and pump stopped working. took to ford dealer who said that rodents had chewed through the windshield wiper lines and pump area electrical. made repair. now, december 2016 i tried to use the windshield wiper fluid to find that it had once again been chewed. i have been parking multiple vehicles (new and used) in the same driveway since 1989 with no issues. rodents have chewed the sound barrier material in the front wheel wells as well as the wiper fluid lines, etc. and made a nest in the wheel well.
6-4-15 purchased the car brand new 8-7-15 car's battery drained completely and had it towed to ford dealer 7-8-16 car's battery completely drained. jump started got new battery at ford dealer 7-29-16 battery completely drained, jumped started. stopped at ford dealer and got an appt. on 8-8-16 7-30-16 drove car out of garage approximately 7:30 am at 3:30 pm, the battery was dead. jump started the car to put back into garage. called ford dealer and got an earlier appt. on 8-1-16 (charged battery 6 hrs with battery charger) each time, the battery had to be jumped to start the car. something in the system is draining the battery completely. the car was parked inside my garage each time that this occurred. it always happened in the am when i went to start the car with the exception on 7-30-16, it was parked outside in the driveway and died there during mid day. purchased a portable battery jump starter from sears ($125.00) to stay in the vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford escape. the contact stated that the handle for the hatchback fractured without warning. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. on another occasion, the vehicle failed to shut off without warning. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 42,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.
I was driving and i'm not sure if i hit a patch of ice or steering froze up. i was traveling 35 in a 40 mph zone and on a curve, the vehicle veered off the road into a bog. the vehicle started to sink and i was unable to open the door for a few minutes. i tried putting the vehicle in reverse to get out of the water and ice. then i noticed a flame coming from the back of the vehicle. i pushed the door open and began swimming away from the vehicle. as i was about 30 feet from the vehicle, it exploded. i was in the water and ice for approx. 10 minutes. the fire dept, police, and emt's arrived and pulled me from the water and took me to the hospital. i have 2nd degree burns on my arm and legs. my insurance company has deemed the vehicle a total loss and the adjuster said the only thing that could be salvaged was 1/2 of my license plate. i asked what could have caused this and the adjuster said that perhaps it was an electrical problem and water mixed with the electrical problem may have caused the fire. he did state that he did not know what caused the fire and explosion. the vehicle is sitting and i have asked that it not be destroyed (what's left of it) until the cause can be determined. this concerns me greatly because i do not want this to happen to anyone else. the shock is starting to wear off and i keep asking myself how in the world a car could "just explode". please let me know if anyone else has had any problem like this or if anyone can suggest what may have caused this catastrophe. thank you. *tr
I was driving in maine. i'm not sure if i hit a patch of ice or if the steering froze up. i was traveling 35 in a 40 mph zone and on a curve, the vehicle veered off the road into a bog. the vehicle started to sink and i was unable to open the door for a few minutes. then i noticed a flame coming from the back of the vehicle. it took all of my strength but i pushed the door open and began swimming away from the vehicle. as i was about 20 feet from the vehicle, it exploded. i was in the water and ice for approx. 10 minutes. the fire dept, police, and emt's arrived and pulled me from the water and took me to the hospital. i have 2nd degree burns on my arm and legs. my insurance company has deemed the vehicle a total loss and the adjuster said the only thing that could be salvaged was 1/2 of my license plate. i asked what could have caused this and the adjuster said that perhaps it was an electrical problem and water mixed with the electrical problem may have caused the fire. although he did state that he was speculating and he did not know what caused the fire and explosion. the vehicle is sitting and i have asked that it not be destroyed (what's left of it) until the cause can be determined. this concerns me greatly because i do not want this to happen to anyone else. i believe if anyone else had been in the vehicle, they would not have had time to escape. there was no smoke - only fire and then the explosion. the shock is starting to wear off and i keep asking myself how in the world a car could "just explode". please let me know if anyone else has had any problem like this or if anyone can suggest what may have caused this catastrophe. thank you. *tr
Symptom: fuse for interior lights, including gear indicator on shift, controls in steering wheel, fails. issue began 2nd month of ownership 2/2015. 4th incident on 9/17/15 brought my attention to the circumstances pertaining to all instances leading to failure of the interior lights fuse. incident: traveling at 55 mph while merging into traffic from the left side of a 5 lane highway, i removed my foot from accelerator. i stepped on the accelerator within a few seconds and the engine shut off, all electrical components, dash board, gauges, everything shut themselves off and then every gauge and warning light lit up, but no engine. i moved the gear selector into neutral and turned the key to off without locking the steering wheel, and tried to restart the vehicle. it did not restart. i made my across 4 lanes of traffic to the right shoulder, stopped the car, put into park and turned the car all the way off and restarted the vehicle, the interior lights no longer worked. the car restarted and i drove on. i realized that every time the fuse for the interior lights has failed, it was after the car had shut itself off, all electrical lights and warning lights had gone off and then all warning lights and lights, except interior lights came back on, requiring turning the key to off engaging the steering wheel lock and restarting the car. it is currently in the shop for evaluation. the 3 previous times, the ford dealers' (2 different dealers) service department technicians have not found a cause for the fuse failure.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford escape. while attempting to start the vehicle, it failed to operate. after removing the key from the ignition, the vehicle operated independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (coggin ford in jacksonville, 9650 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, fl 32225) where the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v436000 (electrical system). the manufacturer also stated that the vehicle was manufactured in december of 2014, but the recall was for 2015. the failure mileage was 23,477.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford escape. while driving at 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle restarted after 10 seconds. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the electrical fuse number 60 needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 2,000.
My ford escape 2015 wouldn't shut off after turning. i didn't realize that car was on after i had park, without the keys in the ignition. i drove home when i tried to shut the engine; it didn't. the car was tow to the nearest ford. the motor was still running when it was being tow. ford couldn't find anything wrong with the car. mine you i still haven't made my first payment.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford escape. while driving approximately 65 mph, the automatic door lock was applied, however, when the driver grabbed the door handle, the front driver side door opened. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure recurred multiple times. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
Started car and the alarm went off on the dash saying the front passenger door was ajar. we opened the door and looked at the door to make sure no one had hit the car. no damage could be found. shut car off and restarted. alarm continued with dash reading front passenger door ajar. drove car home with constant alarm and over head light on. let car sit in driveway for hours to see if something would reset. it did not work. unplugged battery and let car sit another 30 minutes. did not reset. tomorrow the car goes back to the dealership again to fix this problem. i am very disappointed with the new 2015 ford escape titanium 4 wheel drive 1.6 only 1069 miles and i am having lemon issues! should have kept my 2013 escape with the bigger motor, didn't have dumb problems like this one. ford step up please and make this right!! *tr
Warning on screen. take car to dealer immediately. i took the car to the dealer and after sitting there for over 3 hours i was told the issue was the cooling temperature sensor. when they came to tell me the car was finished i was told they did not do anything but unplug the sensor and wait 5 minutes the reconnect to clear the code. since then the car takes a long time to heat up for the heater. it will blow cold air. i am disappointed with this car. i should not have had to wait over 3 hours at the dealer either for just unplugging the sensor. not a good way to keep customers. *tr
