Car kept stalling in the middle of the road and then completely stalled out after going 40mph. no indication of a transmission error. changed transmission fluid and still doesn't want to drive. sometimes the acceleration on the vehicle is terrible and the ac gives out and i need to constantly turn it off and turn it back on to work. having to tow it to ford because it's not drivable and spend all this money on a car i'm still paying for, getting rid of it and not buying another ford ever again.
On february 2, 2020 i was driving home and my car suddenly stalled and released as i hit the accelerator & then it wouldn't speed up at all, which is when i realized my transmission went out for the second time in 3 years. i am very meticulous with my vehicles and this never should've happened the first time or even a second time. i reached out to ford about it, but they took no responsibility. the first time my transmission went out was at about 79k miles. there's absolutely no way to conveniently check the transmission oil without having to take it into a shop.
Transmission went at 80k miles, extended warranty doesn't cover. no warnings only warning i got was when it was took late. no way to check transmission fluid as it is a sealed transmission. it's going to cost me $6k to get it fixed.
On january 10, 2020 while vehicle was being driven at approximately 30 mph on public road with slight decline in road at that point, the suv spontaneously disengaged from gear. when accelerator pedal was pressed, the engine would rev at high rate of speed but vehicle acted as though in neutral. the driver coasted to side of road, shut off engine for a couple of minutes, re-started, put into gear, at which time the suv would lurch forward about 15 feet and then disengage again. proceeded down the road this way until suv could not advance at all, now at uphill. it was towed to closest repair garage where diagnosis was complete transmission failure. prior to this incident, the vehicle had exhibited no signs whatsoever of transmission problems, no difficulties shifting into gears, no hesitation of automatic shifting between gears. it has been properly maintained. mileage at time of event was approximately 79465 miles.
On 12/31/19 while driving on pch the the would not accelebrate it's like it in neutral very dangerous! had to pull over and get a tow home. doesn't shift gears right. 2018 it was jerking fix the transmission now this. only 71000 miles on it. !
While in motion, on either a city street or on a freeway. from either in a slow stop and go acceleration while in city traffic the transmission slips and then catches in a jerking a effect causing the transmission to pause and then catch. this is also will happen on the freeway in the event of a quick acceleration to avoid change in the traffic or something in the road.
After pulling onto the highway, i attempted to accelerate my automatic 2014 ford escape. my engine revved, but i had no acceleration. it sounded as if i was in neutral. i tried to shift gears, but the issue persisted as my car nearly came to a halt on the busy highway. i was able to make it to the right lane even though it put me in front of an onramp and guard rail. i was beginning to lose any forward momentum to the point that my car was slipping backward. i pushed the brake. i was able to quickly turn off my car, turn it back on, and accelerate a few feet before i lost acceleration again. i did this 3 times before being able to safely pull off the highway past the onramp and guardrail. i was about 15 minutes from meeting up with my husband and two young girls to travel further onto a busy highway toward friday afternoon boston traffic. i feel fortunate that the timing was what it was, but unfortunately, the issue was my transmission failed at only 92,000 on a vehicle from 2014. i just had the vehicle in the mechanic shop on the tuesday prior to this friday event, and was told there should be no issues taking it on the highway for a trip with the family. my vehicle was towed to the local vip for an assessment. we were told it was likely the transmission, which they said was a "known issue" in this make and model. fuming at the thought of this being a "known issue" and understanding the implications of this cost, i did a quick search. sure enough, there are myriad people that have experienced this at 40,000, 70,000 and 90,000 miles on this same make and model. we had it towed to our local mechanic who assessed it independently of vip and shared again that this is a "known issue" with this make and model. i have to wonder why this "known dangerous issue" has not prompted a recall. happy to provide my bill for the repair, which will take place 12/30. *js
2014 ford escape-79k miles- while driving the car wouldn't give power and hesitated when trying to take off. also puttered and eventually didn't want to drive at all. i had to shut off the car in the middle of the road and restart it to get it to move and eventually made it home doing this several times. thankfully i was not on the highway as it would have been a complete disaster. took the car to my mechanic the next morning, mechanic informed me the transmission fluid level was full but transmission had failed. said this is rare for a fairly unused car with low miles but common problem in ford escapes. i left the mechanic in tears with a $125.00 fee and a $3,500 quote to have it repaired. working on those funds now to repair the car, which is not yet paid off. if it was i would trade it in and never get another ford again. incredibly frustrating. i've had a honda accord with 200k+ miles and this never happened. along with my toyota highlander. ford needs to do something and recall this issue along with reimbursements because this is insane.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while the contact's daughter was pulling into a parking lot, the transmission did not shift into park, which caused the vehicle to roll. the contact stated that the gear shift was in park at the time of the failure. the contact applied the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle shut off and was towed to romano ford (315-637-4491, located at 5431 n burdick st, fayetteville, ny 13066) where it was determined that the vin was not included in a recall and not under warranty. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving and pulling into a parking spot, the vehicle shut off and was towed to the contact's home. the following day, the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, but it shut off again. the vehicle was taken to crossroads ford of prince george (4500 whitehill blvd, prince george, va 23875, (877) 331-9405). the contact was advised to use rolling stops to avoid the vehicle shutting off. the vehicle shut off in the dealer's parking lot. the dealer replaced the oxygen sensors after performing a small test drive. it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle remained at the dealer for almost two weeks. the total cost for the repairs was over $4,200. the vehicle was currently at the dealer awaiting repairs. the failure mileage was 79,000. the vin was invalid.
Wastegate solenoid needs replaced, we have replaced so many parts on this vehicle and had to have the transmission replaced as well. we should not have this many problems with a vehicle that's only 5 years old. we also had to replace the transmission shifter cable after it left our vehicle completely disabled in a town an hour away from our home. we've also replaced the coolant bypass solenoid. these are all known issues and should have been covered by a recall but our vehicle, even though it matches the recall specs exactly, our vin # was not listed on the shops oasis sheet so we've paid for all of this out of our own pocket. ford needs to do the right thing and reimburse everyone that has had to deal with these issues and pay out of their own pocket for a known issue that have been recalled on several of their vehicles already. the recalls obviously need to be expanded to reflect the true numbers.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that the transmission indicator illuminated while driving and the vehicle decelerated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who checked the vehicle and provided technical service bulletin number: 192100, p1744. the mechanic stated that the torque converter performance circuit was high. the vehicle was taken to bob gillingham ford (216-398-1300, located at 8383 brookpark rd, parma, oh 44129) where it was determined that an unknown module needed to be replaced. the part was on backorder. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
2014 ford escape transmission failed while driving in traffic, it lurched had we been on a freeway we are certain this would have been catastrophic.
While in motion, the vehicle shudders and/stumbles between 1800 and 2000 rpms causing the vehicle to become unstable. the dealership was not able to address any issue. i then contacted 2 other dealerships. i suggested that it may be an issue with the transmission and i was told that they were not looking at any transmission issues. "this came down from management" the service technician shared. my teenage driver is driving the car and i am concerned that an accident is eminent.
My wife and kids were driving home from her sisters home and about 5 miles in a line of traffic on a 2 lane roadway crossing a bridge when she lost power an the vehicle would not reach over a speed of 10mph. this in turn put my wife and children in danger with traffic moving at a rate of 40mph dropping to 10 mph with rpms jumping to between 6 an 7 rpms . she luckily made it across the bridge where she found a wide spot to pull off. when i arrived i checked for fluid on the ground there was none. i put the car in drive and reverse and it was abundently clear it was the transmission. when shifting into drive the transmission would make a slamming/booming sound as it tried to engage. when i tried to accelerate there was no power behind the vehicle to pick up any acceleration. we had it towed to a transmission specialist the next day where he was quick to let me know we needed a new transmission.
The transmission of my 2014 car with 77,000 miles needs to be replaced per my ford dealer. i was driving on the highway at about 60 mph when suddenly i was unable to accelerate. i was luckily able to coast to a nearby exit without harming myself or anyone else. the dealer said that my torque converter 'grenaded' and then blade pieces blew through the entire transmission and were not present in the transmission fluid. i asked if this was normal for a 5 year old car to need its transmission replaced. the service representative at ford said 'honestly...no, but it is something we have seen before' i then said 'you mean with escapes?' and the representative said 'yes'. he said that the transmission tech has rebuilt several transmissions in the escape that were even still under warranty. it is a known problem yet the company has not issued a recall. what about the safety of the drivers? who will hold them accountable?
My family and i (wife and newborn) were driving on the highway and i noticed a lack of power when trying to accelerate. suddenly the ford escape began shifting up and down rapidly. the rpms would increase when trying to accelerate, and the engine was working, but there was a total loss of power and slight grinding noise. it felt as if the vehicle shifted into neutral. we coasted to the shoulder and waited for a tow truck. the shop that received the ford escape found internal transmission failure and quoted us for a replacement. the price for the replacement is over half of what the vehicle is worth! (according to kbb)
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while the vehicle was idling and preparing to make a left turn, it stalled without warning. the driver powered off the engine, restarted the vehicle, and was able to drive; however, the failure recurred down the road. the driver was able to drive home at 10 mph. the vehicle was later towed to hardy family ford (1255 marietta hwy, galls, ga 30157, (770) 445-8891) where the mechanic drove around the parking lot and stated that the torque converter and transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
While shifting the transmission from drive to park the bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission did degrade over time and caused the bushing to detach from the transmission. the condition did allow the driver to move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission was in reverse. there was no warning message or audible chime. the vehicle had to be towed on flat bed. the bushing degraded to the point where it fell out of the cable housing. documents are available upon request.
Transmission would not go into gear car would not go forwards.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving, the transmission malfunctioned. when the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle stopped moving and rolled backwards towards a busy intersection. there was no crash. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who referred the contact to sands ford of pottsville (1456 route 61 s, pottsville, pa 17901, (570) 622-1991) at the suggestion of the manufacturer. the contact was informed that since the extended warranty was expired, the dealer could not help with the repairs. the failure mileage was 100,232.
While at a stop light, i went to drive when the light turned green and my car wouldn't move after pressing down on the gas. the rpms didn't go up and the car just sat there with no warning that there was an issue. i put the car into park to switch gears back to drive again to try and go and the car jerked forward and then the rpms went up and stalled a couple of times as i tried to make it to the next parking lot. i put the car in park and turned the car off because i thought maybe there was a system glitch similar to a recent recall on my vehicle. after about ten minutes i tried again to drive it and the car started up okay still with no warning signals registering. driving after less than five minutes the car wouldn't continue driving while in forward motion as i was pressing down on the gas down the street. i pumped the gas pedal multiple times with no success of being able to continue to drive as the car started to stop in the middle of traffic, so i proceeded to turn on my hazard lights and try to make it to the next parking lot again as it was slowly starting and stopping while in drive jerking forward. the car made it through another light and then started to stall again so i tried to continue to find my way to the parking lot in the mall and out of traffic. the signal for transmission warning appeared now and i tried to continue to press the accelerator but the car wouldn't move barely but was able to park to get my car towed to the dealership because i knew it was no longer safe to try and continue driving the car.
I was driving on the expressway and my car started to slow down. i assumed it was gas because my tank was low. i put gave in my car and my car did not start until 2 tries. when it came on the transmission light came on and my car started makeing a very loud weird noise. i've only had the car twice and this have already happened to me twice
The vehicle was stationary and had not been driven for more than 3 hours. i pushed the remote start and the car started, but it shut off almost immediately. the shut down was due to overheating. the engine was cool and the coolant was tepid at best. this is not an overheating issue. the car will not run on more than 2 cylinders. this is the second time this has happened since the recall for the coolant sensor. the car had to be towed to the dealer where i was charged to diagnose the issue. this should be no charge since it was recalled for the overheating issue. this overheating has caused my transmission and torque converter to fail as well. the cost of the transmission should be reimbursed by ford since they have know about the overheating issue for a long time now.
Transmission failed and extended warranty replaced the transmission, the current transmission failed without warningto the operator while driving at 45 miles an hour in moderate traffic, loss of life was just narrowly avoided due to uncoming traffic. does someone gave to be deseased in a car accident before this is fixed on these vehicles.
Putting vehicle in park shifter cable came of transmission says vehicle is in neutral while shifter is in park transmission is actually in neutral happened in driveway
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. when the contact shifted into drive, the gear became stuck in reverse. when the gear was placed back into park, it seized. the vehicle had to be turned off after unplugging the battery. the vehicle was purchased two months ago. the contact stated that the failure was directly related to nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the vehicle was taken to ntb where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable was disconnected due to bushing failure. the repair would cost $500. the vehicle was not repaired and remained at ntb until ford determined the next steps. the manufacturer stated that they were not responsible and that nhtsa would be able to issue a recall on the vehicle. a case was filed with the manufacturer, but they declined to provide a case number. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 92,500.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while attempting to drive the vehicle, it moved forward two inches and back two inches without warning. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the local dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. the failure mileage was 31,170.
While driving the car was making a high pitched whine. then after turning corner, it shifted/sliped, then no drive at all. made it to side street, where car did not have any reverse or drive. also, no warning lights, and still no lights to indicate that something is currently wrong with car.
The transmission has completely gone out at only 88,000 miles with no warning. in our case it was on the interstate in the middle of traffic. i would consider it an unfortunate instance but when getting quotes the replacement is near 6000 grand for a new transmission which is a prohibitive amount for a fairly new vehicle and an "affordable" one at that. after doing research online this seems to be a large issue with hundreds of posts found that they have the exact same issues around the exact same time. their ford escapes transmission gives out around 75 to 100k miles. i believe this is an issue because that is a very short time frame for a transmission to completely give out that ford is refusing to acknowledge even though 100s if not 1000s of people have the same issue. the issue of failing transmissions is not isolated to a few instances, and in a majority of cases fails just after (within 10 -20k miles ) the transmission warranty expires and seems to be a pattern.
Seat belt will not retrack, pull face, will no grab it, pull all way out and will not ratch to stop you from moving, i will not crash car to see if will keep me in seat and out of wimdow, i fill if i did, it woild not work, power train make a wining sound, my need oil
My car coolant is always leaking have to fill out and fix most of the time. the transmission was suddenly failed even only 80000k mileage and service center for replacement cost is $6000.that's really ridiculous.
While in motion i lost all forward gears in the transmission resulting in me not being able to move in heavy traffic.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while the contact's spouse was accelerating at approximately 5 mph from a stop, the transmission slipped without warning. in addition, the service transmission warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was initially towed to girard ford (located at 450 w thames st, norwich, ct 06360, (860) 889-2601). however, due to the cost to replace the transmission, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be repaired. the vehicle was still not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 82,000. piir = y.
In the 2013-2014 escape, awd, there is a known failing part and they have a service advisory, ssm 46965, to address this but will not issue a recall. many have failed, including ours, just out of warranty, and they get to charge us $800 to repair. this failing part is the "viscous coupler" or clutch in the rdu or rear differential. it is a 1.5 hour repair job that they charge 3 hours labor to do. when it fails, you get very loud pops and grinding noises from the rear end when turning tight turns in a parking lot. if neglected, it will eventually fail completely. this has been a known problem since 2013 and ford continues to milk profits off it to this day. i believe we should be re-embursed for the repairs.
2014 ford escape. consumer writes in regards to loss of power while driving vehicle. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle suddenly revved up then lost power. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer advised the transmission needed to be replaced.*js
Vehicle in motion has a hard time shifting gears
2014 ford escape 1.6l 80,000 mi. just like hundreds on this site and most likely thousands across the us - transmission failure while driving with no warning. extremely dangerous and possibly deadly yet nhtsa and ford refuse to acknowledge recurring problem with a faulty transmission recall. a 5 yr old vehicle with a yearly avg of 16,000 mi. should not require a transmission replacement at a cost of $5000 to the owner. my only hope is people use this site to research vehicle purchases and avoid making the same mistake as me and thousands of others. there are two types of ford escape - ones that have had premature transmission failure and ones that soon will.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving 65 mph, the transmission stopped working and the vehicle lost speed. the contact was able to pull the vehicle over with much effort. gene latta ford (1565 carlisle st, hanover, pa 17331, (717) 633-1999) stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. the contact researched the failure himself and found the cause of the failure to be the torque converter clutch and the shift solenoid. the contact had not taken the vehicle to be officially diagnosed due to past experiences with other repairs. after hearing the contact's concerns with past diagnoses, the manufacturer referred the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 118,000.
My 2014 ford escape was effected by a recall issue in november 2018, the engine overheats causing the coolant container to crack and leak. i paid $175 to replace the coolant container in june 2018. however in november 2018 my car completely turned off while driving on busy city street at stop light and smoke started coming in through the vents and the engine caught on fire. we never received notice of a recall until after this incident occured. after 30 days ford finally accepted responsibility and paid $9500 to replace the damage. the vehicle probably should have been totalled. the day i got it back from the dealership i had noticed a change in the transmission. i made the dealership aware but they said they didn't notice a difference. my transmission completely died 4 months later while driving and i have been trying to get ahold of someone from ford corporation since, it has been waiting at a different ford dealership for a month and a half ago. today we finally received a call from the ford goodwill department offering $1200 off the total cost of over $5200. unfortunately we cannot afford the $4000 and they will not pay anything of we decide to had a used transmission put in. they will not give us a phone number or email to ford legal just a fax. someone did tell us on friday they were transferring our case to legal and would call the dealership and us on monday but they did not and the person i talked to today says there is no record of us speaking to anyone friday or anything being transferred to legal. it has been impossible to get any information from anyone and we are unsure what we should do. i have a warranty from the work done in november regarding the recall issue but ford is saying this is unrelated and will not be covered, but also will not tear apart the transmission to determine the actual cause due to the labor cost unless we pay for that as well.
Ford escape with 77,000 stopped moving in the middle of the road while travelling over 30 mph, towed to a ford dealership who is indicating that it needs a new transmission.
Ford has recall #18s20 the bushing denigrates causing the car not to properly shift. the dash reads park but the car is in reverse. this almost cause me to hit another car. very dangerous. my vin# not covered under recall it should be its the very same issue the recall covers. in a cvs parking lot. ford refuses to repair because the vin not included in recall. had to manuall put in drive but could not leave car until somone came to help me manually put in park under the hood
I began losing coolant after taking my car in for coolant level sensor recall. i added water a few times before i decided not to drive it anymore. couldn't figure out what was happening to my 5 year old less than 50,ooo mile car. couldn't see any leak on the ground, decided to check oil, dip stick came back with water in the oil. had it towed to ford and my engine is blown, water all in th engine
Pulled into a gas station parking lot and placed vehicle into park. driver remained in vehicle to make phone call and realized the vehicle was rolling backwards despite vehicle being in park. emergency brake was applied to stop the vehicle from rolling backwards. vehicle had to be towed to a dealership where it they discovered the shifter cable bushing was broken. husband called ford directly to discuss the safety issue and they stated that this particular vehicle was not part of the recall because it was not assembled in the same factory.
My car over heated while driving. so i pulled over and let it cool down. i then took it to the shop and i was told i needed a new cylinder head when asked why it over heated they refereed to the coolant system but didn't know why the coolant was getting there. after doing some research online the way they explained everything seems very similar to the recall number 17v209000 or ford recall number 17s09
While driving our 2014 ford escape se shortly after being serviced at our local coggin ford for a maintenance including a transmission flush, the vehicle began to exhibit problems. the vehicle had been plagued with problems since purchase from a used dealer and each time it was brought to ford who claimed to fix the problem every time. despite the vehicle being brought to the ford dealership it continued to have multiple problems which seemed to be misdiagnosed such as a wastegate and turbo that needed to be replaced when the intake hose was simply not reconnected after recall issues were supposedly addressed. the vehicle would intermittently signal that the coolant level was low. while sitting at a stoplight after normal operation the vehicle failed to engage the driveshaft once the accelerator was depressed. after failing to hear the gears engage the accelerator was released followed by a loud thud and then the vehicle jerked extremely as the gears engaged and the vehicle began to move. the vehicle then felt as if it was not fully catching gears as it began to over rev when attempting to continue driving. upon this happening the vehicle then engaged a safety mechanism where the vehicle only allowed for it to move far enough for us to pull into a parking lot and shut it off. a tow truck was called and the vehicle was towed home. this was after getting the vehicle back from ford whom did a diagnostic stating that the recall issues were taken care of and the transmission flush was completed. being that the problems had been so repetitious we have left the vehicle parked and no longer drive it due to not being able to afford the cost of a replacement transmission. it is out of warranty and we still owe over 12 thousand dollars on the vehicle. now we are stuck with a car payment for a car we can't even drive and this car has been nothing but problems since it's purchase.
A week after purchasing 2/21/2017. the escape starting running hot then it shut down the car acceleration . took it back because it under the factory warranty, they said the head gasket were blown and leaking coolant into the engine. mind you it only ran hot for one minute. they repaired it. a year later in february before my birthday 2/26- i say 2/19. the transmission went out, they repaired that. a recall on own coolant valve was fixed by dealer. now in the beginning of march the water pump and engine problem has come back. if fill this model of 2014 ford escape is a lemon and i should be compensated for all my inconvenience. it been nothing but a money drain and the dealership is robbing me. i took it up there to see if they could repair the problem, but they said my warranty has expired. the told me the water pump needed to be fix and it will cost $1,300 and that i have to pay that before the can look at head gasket. to much to pay and there charging a service fee which is ok but the never said anything about a storage fee. i had a trip schedule for dominican republic. she told me they left a message days after but never received it. i asked if they can wave the storage fee and i'll pay the rest but was told they can't do so. i asked to speak with the manager and was told he won't be back until monday and it friday. called corporate they were no help at all. ford motor company is the worst car company and they do not help there customers. poor customer service and no solution to a problem that they no this car is known for. i'll be taking legal action in a civil suit against ford. thank you for listening and if anyone has a solution please contact me. thank you. ( i will never think ford first- your last). they want $160.00 for storage.
At freeway speed, the transmission on our 2014 ford escape failed, causing the car to immediately slow down. my teenage daughter was able to get the car onto the freeway shoulder. per the service manager at the ford dealership where the car was towed, they see a lot of these transmissions failing. the car had around 60,000 miles, which is far too early for a transmission failure. ford claims they can't do anything about this issue since there is no recall for failing transmissions. the nhtsa must act before a serious injury or death occurs as a result of the poor design or manufacture of these transmissions. many of these cars are coming into the same mileage as our vehicle, so the numbers of these failures will begin to surge.
Low coolant light appeared. had oil changed/fluids topped. a week later, coolant light appeared and check engine light came on. took it back to place that changed my oil. coolant was not low. they used a diagnostic code reader that indicated cylinder 2 had misfired 3 times (i was unaware). a few days later, took it to have checked (firestone). they used a diagnostic code that said the same thing but one of the mechanics related he had just fixed a ford escape having the same issue and that they had then figured out there was a recall for the problem. ford says my vin is not included in the recall. there has been no leak noted this entire time. the engine light went off. i drove it approximately 25 minutes, went in to a business for 2 hours, came back out and started the car, pulled out of the parking lot and saw the check engine light and a message that the engine was overheating and pull over safely (which i did immediately). there was no obvious sign that the engine was overheating (steam, odor, leaking, etc). the vehicle would only start, but would not accelerate at all. had it towed to johnson city ford which told me that they would have to drop the engine to determine the cause ($1700) and that the total repair job would cost between $3500-$7000+ depending on the cause and damage (may have to have a new motor!). he then told me it would be about 3 +weeks before they could repair it since there are 5 just like it waiting to be serviced! i questioned him about this. he related that there were 5 ford escapes with a coolant low/overheating issue currently in their shop. my vehicle was bought brand new. it is garage kept and serviced regularly. i do not understand how a vehicle that is well-kept and has under 90,000 miles can suddenly, without warning or reason, have this kind of issue? why hasn't there been a recall on this issue?
Our 2014 ford escape was recently under repair for the jan 2018 coolant recall. it was completed on mar 15, 2019. on mar 16, 2019. our vehicle had driven on the freeway for 3 hrs for a distance of 200 miles and upon exiting the freeway and stopping at a stoplight. my vehicle stopped moving and managed to get it onto a gas station parking lot.. i had it towed the nearest car dealership and they had diagnosed it and came back with the transmission and coolant being the issue. they are currently wanting to charge us a large amount of money to fox the repairs and transmission. i noticed that there is a recall for the transmission as of sept 2018. no recall message has been sent out yet. however. i believe my vehicle is affected as it would make an unusual sound from time to time when shifting from park, reverse, or drive as if it got stuck. i would love to have someone from the ford assist me with this because it doesnt make sense for me to deal with this if this has been a discovered issue. please assist me in this matter. thank you.
