Problems with 2014 Ford Escape POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2014 Ford Escape starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 69 931 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Ford Escape

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 ford escape. while driving approximately 50 mph, the "service the engine" indicator illuminated. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. the contact exited the vehicle and noticed flames underneath the hood. the contact called 911 and two police vehicles and a fire truck immediately arrived at the scene. the fire department extinguished the fire. a police report and a fire report were filed. the vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to a tow yard. there were no injuries. the dealer was not called. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the contact was unaware of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling) and 18v471000 (power train). the failure mileage was approximately 75,000. parts distribution disconnect.

Transmission fail: we were driving our 2014 ford escape at time of the fail. turning into traffic and the car wouldnt go almost caused a car to hint us cause we couldnt go we couldnt get out of the way. ford is saying its the transmission line not building enough pressure to change gears. we took it ford one yr ago because it was shifting right from 2nd gear, they changed the fluids said it tested fine at thos time. one yr to the day transmission fails.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that after shutting off the engine, the vehicle failed to restart. also, the gear shifter failed to engage in reverse or drive and caused the vehicle to stall. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle might be experiencing gear shifter failure. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Transmission went out on my 2014 ford escape when stopped at a red light while driving on a city street it with no indications it was going bad.

On feb 22 2019 i was driving go work on a small hill. i lost all power the rpms shot up and the suv slowed down.i made it to flat ground and the suv stopped. i put the suv in park for a couple seconds then i put it back in drive it wouldn't move so i put it in reverse it still wouldn't move i put it back in park and turned off. i waited a few minutes turned it on it moved enough for me to park it at a gas station.

Was driving at 60 mph when vehicle rpm suddenly redlined and vehicle lost power and shut off. vehicle steering was hard and vehicle went into a ditch.

The vehicle has 109k miles on it and is consuming too much coolant. it has undergone pressure testing and there are no leaks or cracks in the radiator. the only solution the mechanics can think of is that this may have the same problem as the 2013 models with coolant consumption problems. this has happened three times in the past three months. upon starting the vehicle engine coolant low appears on the dash. when it appears the coolant is in fact low and each of the three times it has been refilled. it can usually go another 1,000 miles and then coolant has disappeared again.

Car losses all power while accelerating over 40 mph. getting on the highway is the worst. motor will rev up almost redlining before slamming into a random gear with again no power so i'm not gaining any speed. just rpms are screaming like i'm in neutral. it's very unsettling to have my car practically stopping in the highway.

All of a sudden driving down the road my car won't go i give it gas but it won't move i try to put in reverse won't move but it takes the gas but its like you have it in park and you rev up motor but this happens while i was driving on highway no warning of any kind was running fine a few hours before this happened

this car has had 13 recalls since manufactured for different mechanical and safety issues some even resulting in spontaneous eruption of fire to the engine bay. while replacing my battery the delearahip notified me of several recalls that required attention, so i had them replace each item that had been recalled, one of which was a sensor within the transmission. after i took the vehicle to have it replaced subsequently, maybe 6 months later i had driving issues while operating it on the expressway. the vehicle would go in and out of gear while driving and i could not control the speed of the vehicle. this occurred the entire drive home to the point where i had to drive with hazard lights on so that i would not get rear ended for having intermittent speed/driving issues. the car would literally over rev the the engine as if i was flooring the pedal when i wasn't even touch the gas at all. the sensor literally took control of the engine as if it was driving itself. i didn't drive it until the next morning then the next day, the only way to drive it was if i slowly transitioned speeds. i had to take the vehicle to have the same sensor replaced. after replacing the sensor it stills seems to need to be driven slower than when i first bought it or it might break again. this is a safety hazard. i'm afraid to drive the vehicle with my daughter in it due to the fact that i might have mechanical issues while driving again & be on the highway to have a high speed collision with a toddler would kill one or both of us. this model in particular has had more recalls than any car i've ever had or even heard of having. i have to continue making payments on it due to my negative equity yet it isn't reliable enough to get me to work everyday. ford needs to replace this model for all owners.

In january 2019 my daughter was driving the vehicle and it stopped in the middle of the street and it would not go backwards or forward and there was a loud whining noise coming underneath the hood. it was towed to a shop where we was told the transmission was gone bad and we hadn't had it a year. i work in a call center on behalf of dealerships and i hear the same problem from customers about the ford escape and ford focus about transmissions going bad skipping gears seems like when you mash the accelarator which is what we experienced as well the vehicle is parked because we can't drive it need a transmission and we dont5have the money.

As i was driving up a hill on the highway, the transmission shifted down harshly. at the next exit, i got to the first traffic light where the transmission shifted down, again extremely harshly. when the light turned green, the car was able to move forward into the intersection but failed to shift up, and would not put any power down in first gear either. the stopped moving in the intersection. i turned off the car, and turned it back on again. there was an extremely jarring motion as it went from park to first, and i was able to get it off the road into a parking lot. in the morning, the car would not shift, and i had it towed to a dealer for repair. the mechanic said that the transmission fluid was burnt and metal shavings had collected in the fluid from a fault internal to the transmission. the new transmission was $5748.19 for a car less than 5 years old and under 100,000 miles. this is a safety issue with the transmission failing with no warning in traffic.

The vehicle, when driving it, has stalled out completely on a busy city street. was able to quickly start it. when merging onto a freeway, i could not gain speed, suv would not shift into a higher gear and a very loud sound was heard. again, i could not accelerate in a safe manner when merging onto a us highway. the next day the same problem was noted on a very busy city street. could not accelerate and luckily was not rear ended. took to dealership and diagnostic report resulted in internal transmission failure at 68,700 miles.

Takata recall the tranny will off and on slam into gear this happens in all roads and in town and out of town

I was taking my pregnant daughter to the doctor and and was crossing trafficat a light and with no warning i was not able to go,i pushed on the gas and nothing luckily it was going down hill so i coasted to a shop which was very near by and they informed me it was the transmission so i had it towed to a transmission shop and they informed me that the transmission was coming apart and would be very costly to repair

The torque converter failed and caused the transmission to fail at 76,032 miles. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and repaired at owner's expense.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle jerked and the gear shifted into first gear independently. all of the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. once the vehicle was shut off and restarted, it resumed normal operation. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission cables failed and a new transmission was needed. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer (porter ford, 600 ogletown rd, newark, de 19711, 302-738-0800) was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there were no recalls. the failure mileage was 65,000.

Transmission failure, service now comes up only when driving over 50 mph on highway. it first happened about two years ago when the vehicle was just over 2 years old. the dealership reset the computer and i was fine for about 6 months. i took it to another dealer (i had moved to another state) and was told the transmission would need to be rebuilt because they could't figure out why it was throwing this code. this was in september of 2017. i bought the vehicle brand new in 2014. the car still drove fine. then in the summer of 2018, it began overheating. i now live in the desert so this is common here. i took it in and had the head gasket, engine block and temp. gauge replaced. all was well until i started driving on the highway again. then the same code came up. the problems and money that i have had to dump into this car is ridiculous. i have already spent more than $5k this year alone on repairs and still have the same transmission code being thrown so i can't even pass an emissions test to register the vehicle.

I purchased my 2014 ford escape in april 2017. i also purchased the ford protect 75000 mile extended warranty. from time to time i would notice a hard shift or slip. i was getting close to my warranties end and brang the vechile in to the dealership from which it i had purchased it from. they said they updated the pcu (which after researching is fords recommended fix). couple weeks past and its still doing the same thing. warranties over not my problem is what im told. both from the dealership and ford. i have a recall from ford do to shifter cable bushings being faultly. were your car could roll away due to being in the wrong gear. but the kicker is they have not yet provided a part and you can get it fixed and be reimbursed or always use your parking brake. which im sure is great for hot rotors and breakpads. and this is not the only problem i have. my vechile now has quite a few issues. which include stalling when backing up shifter stuck in park (finally when it does release slams into reverse) randomly draining battery because car is in power saving mode not starting because if hill assist mode? backup cam intermittently not working touchscreen displaynot working or black. all these problems seem to be common among 2014 escape owners when reading online forums for both owners and mechanics. yet ford states that even with the recalled issue. no consumer complaints or injuries have been filed. i will be document every occurrence from this day forward.

When i first start up my ford escape in the morning and put it in the drive gear , a severe jerking motion takes place. it only does it after the vehicle has been setting for a while.

My car doesn't shift right when driving. sometimes it won't shift into higher gears and sometimes the car lags in power then it will suddenly get a burst of power and the car speeds up quickly. this shifting issue has been happening for several weeks now.

3 yr old car transmission went out completely while i was driving on the freeway. i had to dodge speedig cars to roll off the freeway since i had no use of the gas petal or speed. had to have it towed. error codes p0732-gear 2 incorrect gear ratio came back to needing a whole new transmission. had them flush the transmission for $300 to try and save it to no avail. the shifter cable is already on recall notice 18s20/nhtsa recall 18v471 and my ford dealer cant get the part for months now because its on back order. i believe this led to the total demise of the transmission. a used part for $3000 is not an option because the dealers cant find one anywhere. im assuming its due to many people having this same issue. my only options are spending $5400 on a new transmission or gettig rid of the car that i still owe money on to someone who may scrap it. no safety recall parts are available still after months and no used parts are acailable because there are many more like me with this style vehicle. also in january there was a recall notice 17s09/nhtsa recall 17v-209 that had to do with the cylinder head cracked that may cause oil to leak and may result in a fire in the engine compartment .

Ford fixed a recall on my car regarding the coolant sensor and my car hasn't been right ever since. same day that i brought it home the coolant sensor said coolant level low even though they had just filled it up and there was plenty of coolant in the car. yesterday on my way home from work my car over heated and, lights on the dash said for me to pull over safely as soon as possible. the car automatically slowed down to barely 5miles/hour on it own, it would not accelerate. now the car is not drivable as it overheats within 30 seconds of starting the car up. dealerships near me will not service my car for another 2 weeks and they don't have a loaner car that i can use in the meantime, and on top of that it's going to have to be towed to the dealership because it's non-drivable. according to the diagnostics ran on it the code that came up was - p1299.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that while stationary, in the park position, the vehicle rolled backwards and crashed into the neighbor's vehicle. the contact exited the vehicle prior to the rollaway. the contact stated that the driver's door clipped onto the car port housing, in which the vehicle was parked under, and the driver's door hinge fractured. upon impact with the rear spare tire mount of the neighbor's vehicle, the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed. there were no injuries sustained, as the contact was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash and neither was the neighbor. the contact called the insurance company and remained in possession of the vehicle thereafter. in addition, an autobody repair shop was made aware of the rollaway. a dealer was not contacted about the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the contact stated that the transmission was replaced with a rebuilt transmission, prior to the failure. the contact also mentioned that the vehicle had a history of transmission failures and/or repairs prior to the incident. the failure mileage was approximately 25,000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that while operating the vehicle, a whining noise was present coming from the engine area and the transmission would erroneously switch gears. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified but no assistance was offered. the local dealer was not notified. the failure mileage was 101,632. *tt*jb

I was parked in a large parking lot of a grocery store. when leaving my vehicle was being put into drive, transmission went into reverse and shifter was in park. the key was able to be removed but unable to keep car secure w/o leaving parking brake on. there was no way to crank the car since it was not in park. car was completely non working. my vehicle had to be left in the parking lot and towed to a dealership for repairs. in sitting in the parking lot, with a non-functioning car waiting for a tow truck, i searched online and found the exact description of what was going on under recall 18s20. informed the dealership of this when the car was delivered to them. that was the only part that was fixed, since it was the only faulty part. ford refused to pay for the repairs since, apparently, my car was manufactured at a different plant. same make, model, etc. same part, others are paid for, just not mine. ford was not willing to compensate because the vin was not in the system for this recall at the time of my repairs. this was a safety issue and lot of wasted time, services and money. if i had known and been informed of this i could have had it fixed prior to a breakdown and would not have had to have my children with me, in a hot car, in a busy parking lot very upset. unnecessary stress for sure.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while parking, the vehicle started to roll backwards. the contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. on a second occasion, the vehicle rolled again and pinned the contact's friend, who suffered an injured leg. medical attention was not received. the contact called airport marina ford (5880 w centinela ave, los angeles, ca 90045, (310) 574-2641) and stated that there was no recall and that the vehicle was not placed in park properly. the manufacturer provided a case number and recommended the vehicle be serviced. the manufacturer stated that the bushing may have detached from the transmission cable and there was no recall. the contact stated that the vehicle had an existing power train warranty for five years or 60,000 miles. the failure mileage was 29,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving approximately 55 mph, the transmission failed. the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the rpms increased rapidly. the contact was unable to accelerate beyond 55 mph. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle and drive away. folsom lake ford (12755 folsom blvd, folsom, california, (916) 353-2040) diagnosed that the coolant level sensor system was faulty. the dealer also stated that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was 80,853.

I was driving about 20 mph after accelerating from a stop and the transmission shifted out of drive. i could hear it clunk and feel the car jerk. i stopped and downshifted but nothing happened. i put it in park, turned off the engine. i restarted it, shifted to drive and slowly accelerated. i got about 20 yards and it slipped out of gear again. it wouldn't shift into any gear except park. this was after driving about 100 miles. i had no issues prior to this. no warning lights came on until all of this happened and as i pulled into my driveway a warning came on saying "transmission fault see service station". it has 124,000 miles on it. i've had it for just under 2 years, bought used, and haven't had any issues with the transmission before now. i researched info online and it looks like this is not an isolated problem, but ford is not recognizing this as an issue. transmissions should not just break down for no reason, and if they do, ford should fix the problem.

Transmission failure. i have heard that this is a common problem in the 2014 ford escape. the warning only happened while highway driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving 40 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. the contact pulled over to side of the roadway, placed the vehicle in park, and the "service now" warning indicator illuminated. the contact attempted to cycle the gear between reverse and drive; however, the vehicle failed to respond. the vehicle was towed to klaben ford lincoln of warren (located at 3853 youngstown rd se, warren, oh 44484, (888) 428-3823). the contact was informed that there were metal shavings in the transmission fluid. the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be rebuilt or replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 79,200.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle rolled in reverse while the gear shift was in the park position. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to gosch ford hemet (located at 150 carriage cir, hemet, ca 92545, (951) 396-7250) where it was diagnosed that the shift cable bushing needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall. the contact was referred to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

A dozen times now when we start it up it run real ruff and will lurch, the rpms go up but not mph being gained. i have to pull over and turn it off and restart and it runs fine. we get a message that reads "engine fault service now". when we take it to the dealer they can't fine any errors on when they hook it up to their computer. this has happened multiple times within the last week and over the almost 4 years i've owned the car. i was driving it on a city street and had just backed out of my drive way, other times it's happened has been on city streets shortly after pulling forward, and those times i had not backed up at all prior to it doing it. this morning when it happened i almost had someone rear-end me because my car would not get above 5mph. i had driven about a block from my home before the error message came on and was forced to pull over. thankfully i wasn't on the highway yet.

Stopped at red light, vehicle would not move when i stepped on the gas- transmission went bad without warning. see attached receipt for work performed

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving 10 mph, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle would not accelerate. in addition, the transmission system fault indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to hennessy ford lincoln atlanta (5675 peachtree industrial blvd, atlanta, ga 30341) where it was diagnosed that the automatic transmission would not "pull while hot". the dealer stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 86,622. *tt*jb

2 active recalls-no timeframe of when it will be remedied. additionally, vehicle dies when put into d from r. vehicle has 52k miles, well maintained, shell fuel is used. this happens when backing up and putting into drive. vehicle was in motion.

Shifter cable bushings. 2014 ford escape. nhtsa recall # 18v471. ford recall # 18s20. gear shifter moves to park, but does not register on drivers console. cannot start car car drifts without emergency brake applied. car had to be towed to dealer. dealer acknowledged it was the recall issue, but since ford has not issued the parts yet there are making me pay for the repair until ford sends out a letter informing consumers that parts are available. i spoke with ford they told me i had to keep the repair invoice and get reimbursed when parts are available. my question is, if the dealer can fix it, why can't ford authorize payment, so i do not have to pay out of pocket. if ford issued a recall and people are already having an issue why don't they just pay to have it fixed. the dealer wants $1000 to fix this. ford should take responsibility for this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving approximately 25 mph, the "transmission not in park" warning indicator illuminated. the contact called the manufacturer and scheduled the vehicle to be towed to premier ford inc (5001 glenwood rd, brooklyn, ny 11234, 888-381-4515) where the technician stated that they were unaware that the vehicle was being towed. the technician informed the contact that a diagnostic test needed to be performed at the contact's expense. meanwhile, the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train); however, the dealer stated that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while backing out of a parking space, a loud noise was heard and the vehicle neither moved nor went into any gear. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to have the vehicle towed. the vehicle was towed to gary yeomans ford lincoln (1420 n tomoka farms rd, daytona beach, fl 32124, 386-310-2342) where it was diagnosed that the bushing cable fractured and the entire shifter cable bushing system needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact of nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the manufacturer referred the contact back to the dealer who stated that the recall part was unavailable and referred the contact back to the manufacturer. the contact was then referred to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 81,910. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). while the vehicle was parked, it rolled down a hill and over a curb. as a result, there was damage to the body and undercarriage of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to king ford (2450 e u.s. highway 64 alt, murphy, nc 28906, (828) 837-2121). the contact was informed that the dealer would not be able to assist with having the vehicle repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that she was unable to contact the manufacturer. the failure mileage was unknown.

Parked my car put it in park but when i took my foot off brake and started open the door the car rolled forward. i put on the brake and parking brake but shifter was froze in place. contacted local ford dealership and ford corp both said there aren't any parts to fix car and didn't offer a loaner. local ford showed me how to put bushing back on peg so car could be driven. i'm 63 year old woman car repair not my wheelhouse. i feel car is dangerous and shouldn't be driven. ford is putting me at risk physically and open to accidents and lawsuits by not offering a repair or a loaner car.

Shifter cable broke. we were unable to shift transmission after pulling vehicle in parking spot. we had to have vehicle towed to repair facility and have shifter cable replaced at a costs of $526.40. we also have another outstanding complaint filed for wiring harness being too short and we had to pay for new splices that our vin was not covered by a current recall. we ask that nhtsa looking into the status of that complaint for our refund as well as this one that there again appears to be a current recall for, just not for our vin.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact mentioned that the vehicle's gear selector failed to display the correct gear selection. also, the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that the gear was shifted into park, but was displaying drive. the vehicle was taken to deacon jones ford-lincoln, inc. (3301 mclain st, goldsboro, nc 27534, (919) 736-3387) where the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 105,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to move. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the local dealer (warren midtown motors, 1995 market st, warren, pa 16365 (814) 723-5400) where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable bushing needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and provided case number: cas-15433231. the failure mileage was 70,123.

The car was parked at a gas filling station to fill the gas tank. when attempting to leave the gas station, the car registered being in reverse and would not start. upon examination, it was determined the bushing on the transmission and would no longer shift gears. in order to move the vehicle, the transmission needed to be shifted with one person manual held the shifting cable onto the transmission while someone in the vehicle moved the gear shift. as the gears were shifted, the person holding the cable in place made sure that it did not pop off so that it could be moved into gear. if the person did not hold the cable down, it would not shift gears. we were able to get the vehicle home and repeat the process to get it into park. the car is not safely able to be driven in the condition it currently is.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating forward and also would not drive in reverse. the vehicle was towed to bob thomas ford (310 w. coliseum blvd, fort wayne, in) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 111,000.

Transmission often suffers from sluggish take-off and rough shifting. occasionally while accelerating, the transmission will abruptly lose power and abruptly regain it, causing the engine to rev at high revolutions.

posting date: july-29, 2018 (sunday) vehicle : 2014 ford escape titanium 4x4 (4-cylinder turbo engine, automatic transmission) vehicle loses transmission power. three weeks ago i came out of a freeway and tried to make a right turn on a fast moving local road. i made the turn and pressed the accelerator but the car would not move. the engine revved up but there was no motion. i had to immediately turn on the hazard flash lights to warn approaching vehicles behind. finally i pressed the accelerator "slowly" and the car did move and pick up speed. there were no further issues that day. i had sensed "bumpy gear shifts" and "jerky accelerations" even before the above incident. i instinctively "knew" that things were not right but did not know exactly what it was. two days ago my wife called me at work and said that after backing out from the garage, the car was not picking up speed. the "check engine" light had also come up. she somehow limped slowly back into the garage. when i returned home, i tried it too. i found that only the "rear drive" was working. the "forward drive" hardly worked. often while in "drive" mode, the car rolled backwards on our mildly sloped driveway! using "the lowest gear" i somehow put it back into the garage. yesterday i got it towed to the nearest ford dealership. being a saturday, they could not do anything more. they said they will look into it tomorrow (monday). i consider this to be a major safety issue. i am lucky that i did not lose complete power on the freeway and nothing bad has happened so far to me or my wife. reading about others' experiences on the internet on the same model year vehicle, it seems that they might have faced much more dangerous situations. please investigate this problem seriously and notify the vehicle manufacturer.

My car, a 2014 ford escape [xxx], is subject to recall for shifter problems. the vehicle failed to shift out of 'park' on july 22 , 2018 at the church parking lot while in motion and it needed to be towed since it turned off and wouldn't turn on. i had the car taken to the dealer, galpin ford in van nuys, ca and discussed this with [xxx], and [xxx] the service manager. he said that the problem is with the shifter cable bushings in which theres a recall for. he advised me that that replacement parts for the recall are not yet available. he said that they can do a temporary fix of the shifter cable, but that i need to pay $600 for that temporary repair which he advised is necessary to make the car operative until the parts arrive. in my discussion with ford chat earlier today, carissha advised me that a recall repair like this should not involve a cost to me. the problem of the absence of replacement parts is understandable, as it is a recent recall. however, because of the failure which led to the recall, i should not have to pay for a 'temporary' fix. if the concern of galpin is that ford will not reimburse for the repair costs done at this time, please contact leonard and john and provide them with the necessary assurance. i am unable to operate my car or to get it repaired because of this impasse. now i spoke with [xxx] from service at sunrise ford in north hollywood, ca and he said he can fix it without a cost for me if ford provides an authorization code and for me to file a complaint. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Shifter cable disconnected from transmission. vehicle was park and would not move due to cable being disconnected. towed vehicle to dealer and shifter cable replaced to repair it. ford says my vehicle not covered under current recall so i was forced to pay for repair. shame on ford for not taking care of this properly.
