While driving my car they were two warning lights they came on the abs sensor and the hill side assists. when this comes on is the car all the electrical stuff cuts off the speedometer nothings works in the car the steering will get stiff and it will drive for a while then it reset it self i've noticed where it is gone at least ten minutes before it resets its self this makes me very nervous and uncomfortable because i'm not sure what speed i am going or what's going on with the car anything what's going on with the car my car was in the shop from dec 27 until jan and the same thing happens this is my one way to get around can someone please help me. this happens when i am drive on the highway or around town i know it cannot be safe.i was told by five star ford that the issue was fix and it is not.
My 2013 ford escape stalls and cuts off when it get close to a quarter tank off gas and i go to take off in iti have took it to the shop and it has had two thing fixed on it neither fixed the problem and now there no code on it so there saying nothing wrong with it
My 2013 ford escape requires a complete upgrade of the egr system due to coolant leaks. ford escapes build at the louisville plant already have a recall in place for this issue - recall #17s09. my vehicle's vin number verifies, per ford, that my vehicle was build in december 2012 at the louisville plant; however, the recall was initiated for vehicles built beginning in february 2013. my vehicle is experiencing the same issues as the recall and was built at the same plant so i am requesting that the recall date be moved back to include 2012 ford escapes.
The vehicle while in motion on a city street suddenly decelerated and goes at a very slow speed. the accelerator will not move the car forward or faster. we have been told by a mechanic that it may be an issue with the shifter cable bushing. there was a recall: 18s20 but when i inquired with ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 they stated the vin to my car was not on recall. referred me to nhtsa or a ford dealer directly. i do not understand if the vehicle is the year and model why my car is excluded from this recall
While driving at any speed the car will suddenly lose power and shut down. this most recently happend while going 60 mph on the freeway. this has happend 3 times in 2 weeks while driving. sound ford says they can not identify the problem.
Vehicle repeatedly stalls after starting the vehicle and taking off. the vehicle will start and then i begin driving and it will shutter, lose acceleration ability, and stall out. then i have to put the vehicle in park in the middle of the road or parking lot and restart. sometimes it starts after a little delay just fine, and other times i had happened back to back two to three times. no warning lights remain. i also had coolant leak occur. just got engine hoses, sensors, a new fuel pump in hopes of fixing the coolant leak and the stalling. too soon to tell if the coolant problem is gone, but stalling is still occurring! feels extremely unsafe in a vehicle that randomly stalls out while driving.
My car started showing engine overheating and when i took it in to dealer they confirmed a crack leaking fluid into engine. recall work done in 2014 was to avoid this from happening and now they are telling me i have to buy a new $6000 engine to have it run again. they won't cover it under their recall. i wrote the bbb but they refuse to honor it because i didn't buy an extended warranty. the car just turned 6 yrs old. i'm the only owner and purchased it new.

Me and my dad had brought this 2013 ford escape with warranty on august 20, 2018 at don davis nissan it had 70,093 miles on the truck the sales man name mr. freeman was the one who had sold us this truck he had this truck was at don davis nissan for a week the salesman mr. freeman told me and my dad that the reason the truck had took long because they were doing work to it to make sure that everything on it would be ok before they brought it too me and my dad. so we had the truck for about two weeks and everything on their was good until september 5 2018 the check engine light had came on i told my dad what happen he told me to take it back up their to don davis nissan i took back up to them they tested and they came back and told me that the turbo charge needs fixing and it was going to be $500 dollars so when i told my dad he told the people at don davis nissan that why should we have to pay for something out of his pockets when we have warranty on this truck and we just gotten this truck so my dad was pissed because we just gave don davis $500 and i looked on the internet and i seen were they a had a recall on this truck so i went out their to don davis nissan and told them this and they come telling me that my truck doesn't have a recall and i told them like how do you know what i have and i seen on the internet that the same thing that the other customers who had a recall on their truck and as i look at the comments and i seen the same thing happening to my truck like for example the electrical system engine to wear my truck overheats to wear i hardly drive it sometimes i do because i go to school and to my doctor and run errands for my mother or father. and i been telling don davis nissan since last and now and they acted like they don't want to help me but always be lying to me and my dad i have been telling don davis nissan this and they straight ignore ...
Car caught fire while being driven
The rear driver side door won't open. i've tried from the outside and tried to push it from the inside and just wont open. that day around 3:15pm it open just fine but later on around 11:15pm it just won't open and still won't.

Car keeps losing coolant. had leaks but were repaired been pressured tested but cant keep coolant car overheats had about 30,000 miles when i bought the car and have had this trouble every since car has 63000 miles now
Moved the gear shift on the vehicle into reverse backed up the vehicle 5 feet went to put it in drive and it was stuck in reverse, the gear shift cable came off of the lever on the transmission to switch gears because of the bushing breaking. this is a recall on other vehicles like mine but not for my vin, doesn't make any sense
The transmission shift cable wore down and broke off several ford escapes are already recalled for this but mine is not on the list. my vehicle was in motion when this happened on a city street and would not continue to move i have 2 small children and i am pregnant this was a very unsafe situation
We were camping far in the country. no cell service or signal. we loaded up our car with our gear to head back to town. backed out of the parking space then moved shifter to drive forward. nothing happened other than the vehicle drifting forward due to the incline. now no reverse or drive. was very difficult to get it to register park in order to get key out. put parking brake on and hiked until we received service to call for a tow. tow driver connected shifter cable to bushing and we were fine to drive ourselves directly to repair shop if we park using e-brake. our repair guy looked at it and told us it was a recall item under #18s20. called ford dealership, who ran vin number, and they said it isn't included on that recall. it is still currently at our mechanic being worked on.
Informational display behind steering started flickering and now does not light up so i cannot see mileage or anything else thats going on with vehicle. i have attached a pic of what my display shld look like, however the middle display in my vehicle is black, nothing will display. the flickering started last month and now my display is completely black/blank
The escape has stalled several times. first time it stalled and stopped with no indication of issue on interstate. we were able to get it moved to parking lot after several times waiting for it to start. had car towed to mechanic. the car never stopped for him. we picked it and drove in the morning to church and back with no issues. i drove it in afternoon temp around 85 degrees for about 3 miles. car stopped running with no indication of problem while pulling up to stop light. after about 2 minutes car restarted and quit running again less then 1/4 mile while trying to get off street.i tried replacing ignition relay as noted by several websites but no change. have no idea what is causing the unsafe sudden stalling. car going back to mechanic. this is a very unsafe problem.

Excessive heat warning pulled over within 5 min. vehicle caught fire, within 15 min vehicle was engulfed in flames there where no prior warnings. we had no other indications that there was a problem. coolant was full.
Stalls after starting ... the car will start just fine but a few seconds or minutes later will stall once i am already on the road. also if sitting with out running for a while car will stall and turn off. in traffic this is also an issue, freeway closed one time and had to sit in standing traffic in hwy and car just turned off. several times when pulling out of driveway or the scariest part a shooing strip parking lot onto a busy feeder road the car will stall and turn off.
I have a transmission fault service soon error ! the car seems to think its in park while driven. it staules seems that it is slipping out of gears by its self
Having issue with engine harness-almost go into accident twice- my car is not under recall however all other ford escapes in 2013 were under recall for engine wiring/harness. i got it fixed at ford for a cost of $1000.00. 2 weeks later i was traveling to another state and it happened again, almost got into accident due to this issue! this should be included in the recall that you already made for all the other 2013 escapes! car was moving then started to buck and slow downm, almost stall-then wouldnt move, all lights came on...

My escape likes to stall going like 10 mph. the vehicle starts to hestistate and wont go anywhere. it stalls and like it shutting off with the oil light and the battery light comes on. i restart the vehicle and it does it again like it dont want to move. it stalls like three to four times and it would run like normal. it's very dangerous cause it stalled right in the middle of a intersection. if there was cars coming which i was lucky i wasn't i would had hit on both sides. this is not normal for a car to do this. no one knows what is wrong with my vehicle and this is a very safety issue. it is to a point where i am scare driving my escape cause of this issue. the stalling and hesitation issue. i was in motion when this does this. you can having idle and it wont stall only when you put it in drive. the turbo is also losing power when this does this.
The vehicle will randomly stall out while driving about 10 miles an hour without warning. it's butters like it's out of fuel the engine shakes violently and then turns off. once the car sits until the engine gets completely cool it will run normal. sometimes it takes a thousand miles sometimes it takes 10. it stalls under different circumstances but will not stall if it's in park idling. as soon as you put it in drive it shifts into second and then stalls. taking it to several places and it's never acted up when they took it for a test drive so no one can figure out what's wrong with it. it is a huge safety concern if i pull out onto a highway and the car stalls i could potentially being a fatal crash. here is the youtube video of the exact same situation, in the comments it's suggest replacing a fuel rail pressure sensor. the sensor has been replaced. still experiences the same issue. https://youtu.be/cnhrg4peoru. i've been experiencing this issue on and off for the past 6 months. it's the only vehicle my wife and i own and we are afraid to take our child anywhere due to this issue.
I just purchase this vehicle about a month ago. recently, the car would just stop out of no where. when engine light would go off and on. when i notice it on one time, i went to auto zone it said it was a coolant bypass which means my car is getting too hot however i known when i start up the car in the morning, it would get hot fast which is not normal. the car would be still and it would or im driving it would just shut off...

The transmission locked up in a kroger parking lot going 5 miles an hour. only 81,000 mile and just had 80,000 manufacturers check up three weeks earlier. would not go into neutral and sounded like crumpling paper underneath. towed back to dealership. dealership putting refurbished transmission into escape. does not have a timeline on when it will be finished.
Engine and coolant light on and the vehicle is stalling at idle state and while pulling off after waiting on traffic then proceeded to pull out, sitting at light and stalled when lift turn green, and stalled while merging on interstate. very dangerous!! due to stalling i almost got hit! started to happen in december took to dealership in january happened again today 2/6/19
The 3rd time this happened was on friday, feb. 1, 2019. cold morning. warmed car at 4 a.m. no delay in start up. drove about 3 miles. while driving down into a valley car made a ding noise. lowercase i appears in center of dash screen. it is orange. check engine light comes on and a message flashes across dash stating service engine...something about fluid. i proceed about 1 block lights turn red car shuts down. foot on gas does not work. no time to pull off road. i shut car off. sitting in car in valley no cell reception. isolated. 5 below zero. i put flashers on. after 4 minutes i decided to try to start car and it did only showing orange lights. car moved i drove to safe place and had towed to dealer. this exact thing happened 2 other times since i purchased in feb 2015. each time repairs were made and yet the same thing whereby the car acts like it is going to catch on fire or something and shuts down with only a few seconds to respond. at no time were there any signs of overheating. high readings steam etc. specific dates for the first 2 incidents will be researched by me and reported. each incident occurred in the same manner. one in 2016, one in 2017 and now in 2019. incident occurred when car was moving, less than 5 miles from home. in the morning, winter weather. 2 lane road city driving snake like road going down hill. cause nature not clear. service staff each time feel they fixed it...happens again and again. is it a sensor, computer error, engine????
Vehicall engine stalls out qhile driving down highway. has done this many time is last 6 months. it is very dangerous.
My car is exhibiting the exact same symptoms as described in nhtsa campaign number 12v-551, ford recall 12s41 and this vehicle was made in the same time period as other 2013 ford escapes which are affected yet ford is telling me this has nothing to my vehicle. same time frame, same symptoms but not affected? how does that make any sense to anyone with a shred of common sense? the incident occurred driving home from the iga store which is approximately 1.5 miles from my home. the drive there was fine, driving back the car stated high temperature stop safely, along with it trying to shut down. shut the car off, waited approximately 15 minutes started the car, drove home, pulled in the driveway same message. parked the car, now unable to drive the vehicle due to reading this error it is a fire hazard. this model and year is in the time frame this particular recall was put in place.
The passenger rear door becomes 'locked'and cannot open even when car is in unlock doors mode. cannot open passenger rear door from either inside or outside. to this day the passenger back door still cannot open..
After stopping in my garage and exiting the vehicle from the driver's side door, i attempted to close the door. the door would not latch closed and basically just bounced open again. i attempted to close it again and it did the same thing. i open and closed the handle on the outside and on the inside. after this i could close the door. this problem has persisted for over a month.
My escape has stalled 2-3 times within a 12 hour window while moving. i was able to stop in the parking lot and re-start the vehicle.
My 2013 has exactly the same issues as my of the complaints that i have read on this website. soon after starting the vehicle the engine light comes on the vehicle stalls and it tells me the engine is overheating. this has happened 4 separate times now and i have taken it to 5 different repair shops. none have found anything wrong. please issue a recall before someone is seriously injured or killed.
2013 ford escape has been leaking coolant over the past few months. i have been filling it and the coolant low indicator continues to come on in increasing frequency. today(12/20/2018) it came on while driving, started to shake, displayed overheating, and then stalled on the side of the road. filled it with coolant and it was driveable again. i read that this is currently under investigation and beg that a recall will be issued to include the 2013s along with the 2014 and newer escapes.
Car is completely dead when it rains and it takes several try's and it finally starts. going down the road all dash lights including radio goes out and the off and on. this happens when it rains. when going down the road the car will shut off and then start back up. happens on city and hwy. his has been happening for about 4 months now.
Coolant leaking from unknown location with no dampness or residue found. low coolant in the reservoir is the only indicator of loss.
My 2013 ford escape sel titanium 4x4 has less than 69,000 miles. the suv stalled for no apparent reason and without warning right after starting it up during warn starts. it never seems to happen when the vehicle has been sitting for several hours. it happens after you've driven it for a while and stop at a store, post office or gas station start it up and drive about 15 to 20 feet at low speed out of my driveway, parking lot, and without notice it stalls. i recently pulled out into traffic, and it stalled on me i pushed turned on my flashers and started honking my horn to get people to slow down so i wouldn't get hit. i feel like i'm in a death trap. the first day it happened to me was on december 9, 2018, which was four days after purchasing the vehicle. the fault, problems and component parts are unknown! also, i keep getting a computer message. it's random also but doesn't always happen before or after the stalling issue. Penny november 2, 2018 at 3:06 pm my 2013 ford escape has quit running while driving on three different occasion and has stalled several times once i had my daughter with me pulling out into the highway barely coasting out of the way of traffic then again turning at a intersection. just this week left me stranded out of town pulling out again into a highway then quitting and had to be towed they could not find out what the problem was only changed oil and filter because couldn't duplicate problem out several hundred $ for tow bill and rental car for four days and i'm scared to drive it please help i should be able to drive what was e expensive purchase and i not fear for my life every time i leave home or to be stranded and out $ and my children has drove my car that won't happen anymore
Temperature sensor was replaced and the issue is occurring now again. the engine shuts off and the car turns off no matter what speed you are going or where you are. the dealership is requiring a new engine or cylinder head
Car had problems shifting. transfer case was replaced. after about 3 months, the car had problems shifting again. a transmission failure warning came on the screen and the car wouldn't shift. the shifting problem occurred coming out of park and then between 2 and 3 gear. then, the transmission would not past 3rd or 4th gear. the transmission failure warning came on while the car was in motion on the highway while going 50mph. i was approximately 20 miles from home and almost didn't make it.
Random stalling when car is warm. once it has been turned off for an hour or more, it will work but a little heistant. check engine light comes on when car has been turned on and off too many times within in an hour (about 6 times). check engine light will not stay on, it eventually goes off. left pet store, stopped at a stop sign to cross over an intersection and when it was my turn to go car stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. was able to get the car to drift across the other half of the intersection out of the way of traffic before car stopped completely. car started back up but was hesitant to start. stalled a couple of more times until i got home (about 2 blocks from intersection).

Hose clamp rubbed hole in ac line was repaired at dealership and is doing it again. car is leaking coolant after being tested at dealership car keeps leaking coolant have to keep putting coolant in car every other day no leak is being seem recalls have been done for this issue but my car was not included. i was driving the car then the car started to shake and said low coolant then the car just died in the middle or the road 4 days after getting car tested and coolant added to the car. one of the hose clams rubbed a hole in this ac line than i started having coolant problems replaced ac line at dealership for it to be rubbing hole in line again. car is currently at dealership again.
