The car was in garage for 2 days, i drove it app. 9 miles to the store and back only. the smell of gas was strong later that night in the garage. it appears the gas tank is leaking... possible with the fdm. i did not receive letter for recall 16v777000, but sounds the same. will see what the jax, fl dealer says.
I was driving approximately 70 mph on an interstate, and my car suddenly lost any ability to accelerate. we managed to maneuver to the shoulder, stop the car, restart it and everything seemed fine. this had happened 1+ years previously, and we discovered ford had issued an extended warranty on the throttle body. we took it to the dealer, the throttle body was found to be faulty, and it was replaced under that warranty. however, now it has happened again, only this time i paid to have the same throttle body replaced as it is no longer covered under a warranty. i am worried that this will keep happening, ie. randomly i will no longer have the ability to accelerate the vehicle while driving at a high speed and potential in high traffic. its terrifying to lose that kind of control. i believe a previous investigation had been opened for this issue, thus the extended warranty program. but clearly ford has not addressed this issue if it can continue to happen.

Contacted ford about owning this recalled vehicle over 14 months ago and several times since that date...an was told that a year later the part to repair was still unavailable. i feel that this type of negligence and the safety risk that it subjects me and my family to is seriously unacceptable. it shocks me that the nhtsa has allowed this to continue for this length of time .i was under the impression that it was your responsibility to maintain safety for the consumer ...apparently that is not the case in this instance.

Gas smell inside car. on third or fourth day of recurring smell, took to service. service tech had difficulty finding leak, as their was no visible drips to the ground. returned to driving while the gas smell became stronger. returned to service, this time he found the source to be the fuel pump. the problem was actually the elbow plastic neck leading into the fuel pump was spewing gas from an invisible hairline crack. the leak stops when the car is turned off. the location of the fuel pump is under the rear seat - causing a thick smell of gas and extreme danger of explosion. i have never had repair work on that part. this apparently is due to manufacture flaw in materials. i am a new widow and looking at a $650 replacement fuel pump. i considered dealing with epoxy but am afraid this will cause further damage and risk. *tr
