We have classified the 252 complaints from 2011 Ford Escape about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
I was traveling 55 mph down the highway and suddenly, the vehicle lost power. i pushed on the gas and nothing. i coasted to the side of the road and noticed a yellow wrench. i looked it up in the manual and it stated something about a power train error or defect and to contact a ford dealership immediately. well, considering i was over 60 miles from home, i turned if off, sat for a few minutes, and started it. no wrench so i began to drive. i drove another 15 miles or so and then the same thing happened. i was able to start it up and get it going again but once i parked it, i had it towed and it's been sitting ever since. i called ford and the mechanic gave me the impression it was covered under the manufacturers warranty as long as i'm under 50,000 miles but i'm started to read otherwise which has me concerned. to reiterate what others were saying, if i were in a busy highway, this "error" may have been fatal. no problems or anything prior to these occurrences so the malfunction comes suddenly and without warning. *tr
When accelerating on the highway and reaching 60mph, suddenly the acceleration stopped and the car began to go into limp mode. with no acceleration, i veered off the highway and was unable to throttle the car forward. when in park, the engine seemed to be "kicking" and struggled to stay on. wrench light went on. turned car off. turned car back on after a long hesitated start and the vehicle was able to move forward with acceleration. wrench light came off. i took the car to the ford dealership and they told me i needed a new throttle body. i replaced the throttle body. similar issue happened with a friend of mine, same year, make, and model. his was under warranty, mine not. *tr
Since my first incident on 7/24/13 this has now happened multiple times. the vehicle loses power and the gas pedal does nothing. the small wrench icon comes on. i immediately thought power train and after some basic research see all of the documented issues concerning the throttle body. these issues exactly match mine. today, the vehicle stalled and died in the middle of a very busy intersection while my wife was driving with our 9 month old baby. if there are this many issues this is unacceptable! after calling the ford dealership there is no recall on this item. i can't believe i am having a problem on a 40,000 mile vehicle and that thousands of others have the same issue. *tr
While driving in traffic the engine went idle immediately reducing the vehicle speed. *tr
Receiving a p2111 code on diagnostics. needs new throttle body. on national backorder. i am out a vehicle until this is repaired, and cannot afford a rental, or a new one. it is my understanding that this is a common problem on these vehicles, that ford has known about. they need to issue a recall. *tr
Driving down the road, car stalled or seemed like it stalled when i stepped on the gas nothing happened so i had to coast to the side of the road in the middle of traffic, once to the side of the road the car started sputtering at idle. had to turn off and restart car it would work fine for a little while then happened again. this happened 4 times within the half hour it took for me to get home. there have been other incidences where i'd be driving down the road and the car just "kicks" ahead, usually after leaving a red light or stopped position. car is in the garage as we speak (7-22-13)because the part is on back order and isn't expected to be ready until friday, 7-26-13. *tr
I was driving on an interstate at approximately 75 mph, when the engine of my 2011 ford escape seemingly shut down. the gas pedal stopped working. a small golden wrench icon lit up to the left of the rpm gauge. i pulled over and as i slowed, the car jerked. i turned the car off; took out the keys and waited a few minutes. the engine had a little extra trouble to restart; but it did within 30 seconds. two days later, a diagnostics test at my ford dealership showed the throttle body needed to be replaced; but i was told the part was on a national back order. the same incident repeatedly happened for a total of about 10 times, before the part was at the dealership and able to be replaced. the part was replaced more than two weeks after the diagnostics test and initial incident. *tr
My car has "missed" or "skipped" a couple of times in the past few weeks. yesterday, it quit pulling. the motor was still running, but would not accelerate. the engine light and the wrench light came on. when i was able to pull over, while coasting, i turned off the ignition - restarted the car, and drove another 2 miles, and it happened again. i restarted the car, drove another couple of miles, and it did it again. i was able to get my car home, which was only 2 miles from where i stopped the last time. i understand it's a problem with the throttle body - an ongoing problem with ford escape. my escape will go to the dealership tomorrow. *tr
My ford escape has stalled 11 times in the past five days. it has happened at various speeds, ranging from 20 mph to 65 mph. the first 8 times the vehicle stalled (as if out of gear), the "wrench" light came on the dash, and i was able to coast to the side of the road. as i came to a final stop each time, the vehicle would jerk and then i was finally able to put the car in park. i turned the vehicle off and attempted to restart. the vehicle had trouble starting but finally came back on. again, the same description above happened all 8 times. these incidents caused some very dangerous situations, one where the vehicle stalled as i was crossing the street to turn left and it stalled in the middle of the road and another time when it stalled going 65 mph down the interstate with cars flying up behind me.i did not immediately take the vehicle in to be checked because i thought i just had a bad batch of gasoline. the last 3 times the incident happened (car stalled and the gas pedal would not work) but the "check engine" light came on and stayed on. i took the vehicle to the dealership this morning and was told that i need a new throttle body and it is not covered under warranty. i am terrified to drive this vehicle again and become anxious at every busy intersection wondering if it will stall out again. i have read many consumer complaints about this same issue and ask that ford do a recall on this part before a fatality occurs. *tr
As i was approaching a stop light of an intersection, the car lost all power and i could not accelerate when stepping on the gas pedal. when the car did lose power, the wrench light came on immediately but no other lights were illuminated except for the wrench light. i was basically stuck in the middle of the intersection trying to coast alone to the other side. the car was finally able to coast to the other side at no more than 1 mph and i was able to pull into a shopping center parking lot. i turned the car off and let it sit there momentarily. i then tried to restart the car and it was difficult for the engine to turn over and start. however, it finally did. the wrench light was not illuminated when the car did start. i was fortunately able to drive the car back home. the car will be taken to the dealership for inspection and testing. *tr
My vehicle stalled while i was turning - this is the fourth time i have had it serviced for stalling - the other three times they have accused me of filling it too much, which i do not - and they have changed the fuel vapor store - evap canister. obviously, this is not the problem. i also have transmission issues where it jerks and makes a loud noise into reverse. i love my car, but can't deal with the issues it continually gives me - my next car will be a gm product. *tr
After traveling for a approximately 45 minutes, my car stopped accelerating down the road. at this point my gas pedal would not make a difference in rpm or speed, then my engine began shaking violently. i barely was able to make it to the shoulder of the interstate. then, a wrench light came on the dash of my vehicle. i then turned the ignition off. upon restarting the vehicle, the light was gone and the gas pedal worked once more. i merged into traffic and continued on my trip with slight hesitation on the remainder of my trip. this whole scenario happened again on the 19th of july 2013 only 20 minutes into my trip home. vehicle is currently at ford dealership being checked out. *tr
Driving home from work, i was traveling at aprox. 35mph when it first happened. my rpm gauge started to "bounce" from 1 to 4 repeatedly. make it very hard to stop and could not give it gas. at the same time, my power-train warning light came on along with my check engine light. i was able to pull over and call for assistance. *tr
I was driving approximately 45 mph on road when the vehicle lost power. the vehicle began decelerating and pushing the accelerator was useless. it began jerking, like it was trying to shift back into gear or down since there was a sudden decrease in speed. i was able to coast into a parking lot and put in into park. i turned the car off and allowed it to sit for a moment. i attempted to turn the car back on. it took a moment for it to kick over, but eventually it did. i got back out onto the road. the same thing happened again not more than 100 feet down the road. again i pulled it to a parking lot and shut the engine off. i was able to drive it home after that with no issues. i took the vehicle to the ford dealership and was informed the throttle body needed to be replaced. *tr
I was driving and the vehicle stalled. i turned the engine off and restarted it drove fine almost a week later it happened again maybe 3 miles from my home i turned engine off and restarted drove about 1 mile and it done it again and picture of a wrench came on instrument panel i drove about 1 mile again and stalled again. i started vehicle again and the check engine light was on and i made it to my driveway. had vehicle towed to ford dealership and the called and said it is the electronic throttle body and would be a few days because they have to order the part and it will be $349.00. i was surfing the web to see what the part was when i say this page about others having the same problem. *tr
I was driving down a neighborhood street, when without warning, i suddenly had no power at all. my acceleration was gone, and i thought that the engine had died, however everything was running, and the engine light was not on. i pumped the gas pedal and got nothing, fortunately there was a convenience store coming up on my right, which i was able to turn into. at that point i noticed the "wrench" icon lighted up on the dashboard, i thought it might be a good idea to turn the engine off and see if it was a glitch, since i had just had the oil changed at the dealership earlier in the day. at least i was hoping that was the case. the car started perfectly, it took a few seconds to shake itself, which still worried me, and proceeded to act normally as i drove home, where i currently am. i advised my son about what happened and he checked up on auto defects on the ford escape and brought them to my attention, that is why i am reporting what happened to me today. i will be bringing this to the attention of the dealership first thing tomorrow morning due to my needing the use of my vehicle for work. *tr
I was driving home on the highway during rush hour. a yellow wrench light began flashing on the lower left side of the dashboard. i felt the engine lose power and saw that the car was decelerating. i pressed on the gas pedal with no effect. i signaled and moved over to the shoulder of the road. approximately 10 feet after i reached the shoulder, the car stopped moving forward and stalled. i turned it off, let it sit for a few minutes and attempted to turn it on again. the engine would not turn over. i called and had the car towed to the ford dealership. in speaking to the mechanic the next day, he told me e problem was a failed throttle body and would need to be replaced. this dealership was back ordered for the part as 5 other ford vehicles were awaiting a new throttle body. upon researching this issue, i realized that my vehicle also experienced a "lurching forward" which was likely also related to the throttle body. this lurching had been going on for several months at intermittent times. *tr
I was driving down the road at 40 mph and my vehicle just quit running (lost power) and i had to pull over to the side of the road. the engine light came on when this happened, it looked like a wrench figure on the dash. after letting my escape sit for about 30 seconds,it started right up. after it started, i put it in drive and proceeded to go down the road and after about two miles, my vehicle quit running again. after a few seconds of sitting, i started it up again and managed to get into a ford dealership and they said the problem was a throttle problem and replaced the part which cost me $342.00. the dealership said this had been a problem with many escapes and said this part may be on the verge of a recall. *tr
Car drifted to a stop while in gear. turned off ignition. restated car. it accelerated in park without having foot on gas peddle. tried driving again ,the car repeated this pattern 3 more times. finally got it to operate after letting it rest for several minutes. i was a wreck driving it home, 5 miles. the car was bought used only 4 days prior to the incident. it has ruined my confidence in this vehicle. *tr
While traveling along at 55 mph, the engine suddenly lost all power and started running rough. the "wrench" warning light identified in my owner's manual as "powertrain" lit up and the vehicle just would not respond to accelerator whatsoever. i managed to coast to a side road and exit to the right. once stopped, i put it in park and restarted the engine. it immediately restarted and i was able to continue with no further problems that day. i contacted the dealer, but they informed me since it was out of warranty, there was a $95 charge to just check the codes! i took it to my regular mechanic who scanned it and no codes appeared. it has since happened 5 more times, progressively getting more frequent. this past friday (16 aug) i had it back at my mechanic who cleaned the throttle body/system and changed the oil. yesterday (19 aug) it again lost power and then again today - and today i narrowly avoided a collision due to the sudden drop in speed while driving in commuting traffic! i drive a significant amount daily to/from work and i am now extremely nervous about starting home after the incident this morning. this is most definitely a safety issue and ford needs to address it immediately! i researched the problem online and there's a huge amount of other people with the same issue!!!!
While driving at speed, the vehicle instantly lost power. gas pedal was non-responsive. i was able to pull the vehicle to a safe spot off the main roadway. when the vehicle was put into park, it idled roughly and the orange wrench warning light came on. turned the vehicle off and waited a few seconds. turned the vehicle back on and was able to return home without further incident. took vehicle to local dealer service the next day and was informed that this is a known problem and that the repair part needed is currently on extensive backorder, maybe up to several weeks. the primary concern over this type of issue is that it could occur to someone who is at highway speed and would be unable to reach a stopping point safely. the fact that the part needed to fix the issue is on extensive backorder indicates that this is hardly an isolated incident. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated while attempting to accelerate, the transmission slipped and the vehicle jerked. the vehicle was placed in park and the traction sensor warning light illuminated. in addition, the contact stated that after closing the driver's side door, the door ajar warning light remained illuminated. as a result, the overhead light stayed illuminated causing the battery to lose power. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 18,500. the current mileage was 19,000.
Vehicle lost power while traveling on highway. throttle control/power train warning light illuminated. navigated car to shoulder of highway, turned ignition off and on. car accelerated normally to 60 mph, once again lost power and warning light once again illuminated. navigated car off highway, turned ignition off and on. drove slowly home, warning light did not come on again. *tr
On wed july 3, i was backing it out of garage to take a trip to san antonio. i pulled out onto the street to leave when all of a sudden i lost all power. the check engine light came on along with a tool wrench. i looked in the manual and it said throttle problem. i turned it off and started it again and it drove perfect for half a block and lost power again. finally i got it around the block and put it back in the garage where it sits, until i can find out if this is a ford defect. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford escape. the contact stated that while being towed by a recreational vehicle, smoke emitted from the vehicle and there was a visible transmission leak. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was found that the transmission had seized. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 23,179. updated 08/20/13*lj
Was driving to the airport and car stalled, picture of a wrench display on the dash. next case was about 10 days later, was driving local and car stalled 5 times before i made it. both picture of the wrench and check engine light came on. parked car until morning, stalled twice on the way to work then got it to the dealership to be fixed. was told it was the throttle. *tr
Driving and lost power, wrench light went on. drove home. next day i drove to dealership and almost didn't make it. kept losing power, so had to drive about 20 mph with flashers on. it was a defective throttle. *tr
As i began accelerating from a stop i reached about 15mph when the car suddenly lost power and began to vibrate violently.the wrench light and check engine light came on. the engine light remains on. i was able to guide the car to the side of the road and had it towed to the shop.the mechanic informed me that it was the throttle body assembly and the parts are on backorder from ford and he was told there was no eta. the mechanic was also told that it could take up to a year!!! how to i pay a car note for a useless car and how do i get to work?! the car is not drivable and the ford escapes that are still on the road are a danger to all without this problem being fixed! *tr
Driving vehicle on 6/23/13 approximately 30 mph and it suddenly lost acceleration and began to jerk forward. "wrench" indicator appeared on dash. pulled vehicle over and waited; however, problem continued. vehicle would only move forward at less than 5 mph while jerking as it traveled. have had constant problems with this vehicle since purchase. a couple months after purchase on 2011, while traveling on an interstate at 70 mph, the vehicle completely lost acceleration, almost causing a serious crash. vehicle was pulled to side of road and towed to dealership where they had to replace the catalytic converter. since that time, the transmission has been shifting hard and creating noises; however, the dealership has been unable find a problem. today, the vehicle "died" again and had to be pulled of the road. have had vehicle in the service department repeatedly to address issue; however, no fix has been provided. now, just after the warranty expired (currently 39,104) the vehicle has failed again. *tr
I was on my way to work and when i accelerated to pull a small incline and there was a loud pop, a real hard jerk and i had no gears at all. the wrench indicator came on, i turned my emergency flasher on, shut me engine off. thanks goodness i was in a construction zone and the speed was reduced or else i could have been seriously injured. i restarted my engine and finally was able to get it in low to be able to make it to the nearest wide spot to get out of the middle of the 4-lane. i immediately took it to a ford dealer in my area and they kept it 5 days and i was notified on tuesday, that they couldn't find anything wrong. it is still doing the exact same thing, shifts hard, hesitates to shift, revs up to 5000 - 5500 rpm's but won't do over 20 mph. it jerks and make some terrible noises. also yesterday while trying to pull a hill near my home, it would not pull it and i had a vehicle traveling behind me and all i could do was pray that he wouldn't hit me. i had to pull of the side of the road, shut my engine off in order to it to take off and pull again. i have two small children and this vehicle is not safe to have them in on the highway, it isn't safe for anyone to be on the highway in. i have did some online research and have found numerous complaints on the same make and model on mine. ford needs to recall the vehicles and fix them before someone does get seriously hurt or even killed. any assistance that you can provide in this matter would be greatly appreciated. *tr
I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden i could not gas my car. traffic was heavy and i nearly caused two accidents trying to maneuver to the emergency lane. i an not able to drive my car far from home nor on a highway as it chooses to repay this at random. *tr
I was traveling at approximately 60mph when my ford escape completely stalled and s service light came on. as i tried to move out of traffic i was nearly hit by multiple vehicles coming from both directions. i had the vehicle towed to the ford dealership assuming this would be covered under power train warranty. after explaining to the service department what had happened, before they looked at my vehicle, they knew exactly what it was. apparently, the problem with the throttle body is so common they can't keep the parts in stock. this problem causes the vehicle to stall or surge forward, usually at rates of speed exceeding 40mph. i was informed that ford does not consider this part of the power train. $401.04 later i had my vehicle back. as i was paying the service cashier informed me that this was the 12th that had fixed that week (it was only wednesday) and to hold onto my receipt because it really should be recalled. *tr
I was taking my father to the emergency room when my vehicle stared to slow down. when i tried to accelerate it wouldn't move. the wrench light came on. i turned the ignition off, restarted the engine, the wrench light was gone, and started driving again. same thing happened and i had to coast to a nearby parking lot to avoid getting into a wreck. it had to be towed to the nearest ford dealership where i was told, after having it for several days, they thought it was the throttle body and of course was not covered as the warranty had run out. they didn't have the part and had to order it. it was in the shop for eight days waiting for the part so it could be fixed. i had to rent a vehicle because i couldn't drive the escape and that cost a fortune not to mention the $406 i paid to have the throttle body and motor assembly replaced. ever since the replacement my escape has not been the same. i was told there would be a recall and i would be reimbursed, but of course that hasn't happened yet. *tr
While driving on the expressway crg g5 at 45mph the engine stalled, with no more power supplied to the car and it rolled to a full stop. the electronic throttle did not operate to accelerate or drive the car any more. the vehicle had to be towed away. the check-engine light and 'wrench' light are on, the associated dtc code is p2112. *tr
When traveling on highway, vehicle suddenly goes into a limp mode and the "wrench" warning light comes on. vehicle is able to travel perhaps 30 seconds to one minute further unable to accelerate and seemed to be forced deceleration. i pulled over and turned the car off. i turned the car back on after a few seconds and the warning light was no longer illuminated and i was able to proceed to my destination. per manual, the "wrench" warning light is for throttle/power train and illuminates when a power train fault has been detected. have appointment with dealer service in two days. *tr
Vehicle lost propulsion at about 30-35 mph and driver was barely able to get it off main road. a vehicle behind it had to brake to avoid rear-end collision. was not able to move forward and had to be towed. subsequently vehicle functioned again, but about 2 weeks later the same thing happened -- car would not accelerate and felt like it was slipping between gears. subsequently a ford dealer repair department determined that the throttle body had failed. *tr
I have already filed one complaint regarding the throttle body on my 2011 ford escape. i had to pay out of pocket to have it fixed in july and 3 weeks after i paid to have it fixed it started messing up again. the throttle body hasn't gone out again but it bogs down like it is going to shut off at any given second. and also with the part malfunctioning it wreaks havoc on my gas mileage. before the part messed up and was replaced i was average about 370 miles on a tank of gas and now i am only getting about 266. the part in under warranty but they won't replace it until it goes completely out. it only has a 12 month or 12000 mile warranty on it and i am afraid that it is going to go out after the warranty has expired and i will be left footing the bill again. also when it bogs down the scent of raw gas is overwhelming as it fills the cab of the vehicle. i am a mother of 2 and this is my means of transportation and it is dangerous to have my children in the vehicle. i am afraid that it will go out and i will be hit and the gas fumes isn't good for them to be inhaling. i don't understand why ford motor company won't replace them since they are very aware that this is an issue. *tr
Vehicle continually has a decrease in power. after stepping on gas pedal starts to "chug" along slowly eventually speeds back up and engages to normal speed. *tr
I was traveling about 30 miles per hour when the car lost power. it also started bucking and i was barely able to drive it into a gas station. the car was towed to the dealership where it was purchased (bethlehem ford). i was told that a it is a power train , throttle quadrant problem and the part is on national backorder... not expected to be in until july 15th. *tr
While driving down freeway, my car started to feel like i had let off the gas. when i pushed the accelerator, nothing happened. i pulled the car over and it was shaking violently and going about 5mph. a little wrench light came on. i turned the car off and back on and the light was gone and the car ran fine. i continued home and had to turn left into my subdivision. as i slowed down to turn, the same thing happened and i had to put the car into park, turn it off and back on. the dealership said it is the throttle body and not covered under my powertrain warranty or any warranty. *tr
I was driving approximately 65 mph on a state highway and suddenly, without warning, the "monkey wrench" light turned on and i no longer had any throttle. i still had steering control and brakes. i had to immediately pull off the road. the car sputtered and i turned the ignition off. i restarted the car and was able to put it in drive. as i began picking up speed on the highway, i again lost all throttle control and had no power when i pressed on the gas pedal. i had a few miles to get home, and this occurred two more times. the only way i could drive was to be in the right lane and be ready to pull off the road. i am very fortunate i was not driving during peak traffic hours. the immediate loss of throttle power would have been very challenging to navigate around other cars. *tr
I was driving 70mph down the interstate and i lost all power and my wrench light came on. i coasted to the side of the road put it in park and it started right up and light went off. today i could feel it losing power i went to dealership and they said they could not help me if i didn't pay the $85 to put on computer. i told them my car had done the exact same thing that others had reported and it was their throttle body. on my way to work i could feel is lugging but so far today it hasn't stopped. very dangerous due to the fact the i have several children in my escape daily. *tr
Vehicle lost power in drive and decelerated. ford service diagnosed failure of the throttle body. *tr
Vehicle would loose all power while traveling at highway speed. would have to pull over turn engine off and back on to reset. wrench light would come on but would reset after vehicle was turned off. took to shop and needed a new throttle body. *tr
While traveling the interstate, the engine suddenly dropped to approximately 600 rpm and subsequently down shifted to low gear. i found myself in the inside lane, during rush-hour traffic, decelerating from 70mph to 5mph with no place to go. i was lucky, but not popular. the check engine light (wrench) came on and i slowly found my way to the emergency lane. after turning off the engine and restarting, everything was ok. this happened another time with, pretty much, the same story. the ford dealership diagnosed the problem as a bad/stuck throttle body. i've been waiting for them to fix the problem, but they do not have the necessary parts and apparently very little interest. ford corporate says they will help with the cost, but will not return my calls, so i'm left to wonder about that. *tr
Vehicle surged after a stop and would not go. had to coast off side of road and shut down and re-start vehicle. has done this multiple times. the throttle body was the culprit per the ford technician. part is backordered due to high demand for part. the throttle body is the highest part on order through ford, indicating an issue with this. *tr
Purchased used in jan 2013, immediately had trouble shifting and wouldn't go in reverse. rpms revved up like it couldn't shift to the next gear. brought it back to the dealer, no codes but a tsb 12-6-12 and 11-9-9 covered both and the pcm was reprogrammed. it still shifted hard but i got used to it. it started getting really bad again in may 2013. no codes, no check engine light and i checked the system information and nothing was flagged. it would chug and then die while idling. at a stoplight on a 55 mph highway, it stalled. engine started up but as soon as it was put into drive it would make a loud grinding noise and stall. i didn't have any warning. i was at a stoplight at a very busy intersection and there was no where safe to push the truck to the side. i waited 30 terrified minutes for the tow truck hoping no one would slam into me. towed it to the closest dealer where they had to write to the hotline to check since it was only 2 years old. first told it was a valve body or torque converter failure. metal was found in the valve body and solenoid screens and the whole transmission needed to be replaced. and because it had 71,000 miles it wasn't covered under warranty. *tr
I was idling at a stand-still on the highway (or very close to a stand-still - may have been rolling at approx. 5 miles per hour) as traffic came to a stop due to a lane merge ahead. when traffic started to slowly move forward again, i took my foot off the brake and stepped on the gas pedal to accelerate forward but the car did not move. i tried stepping on the gas pedal once more and again the car would not move forward. since the car was still in drive gear, i managed to get the car to roll into the shoulder of the road on its own to get out of the way of traffic. car started to buck and vibrate when i tried using the gas pedal again to accelerate forward in the shoulder and would still not move forward. i noticed then that the orange wrench icon was lit up on the dash. i then put the car in park and turned the engine off as i felt it was no longer safe to drive. had to call a tow truck to tow the vehicle to the dealership. dealership diagnosed the problem as an issue with the throttle body and said it was not covered under warranty as it was an electronic/external part. had bought the car brand new in dec 2010. i was disappointed that the car was less than 2 1/2 years old and had a major problem that could have led to a dangerous situation. i was moving slowly in a construction zone during holiday traffic when the incident occurred, and i was lucky that i was not in a busy intersection or traveling at a high rate of speed when i lost acceleration due to the throttle body problem. *tr
Vehicle went into limp mode on major highway. was able to coast off without incident. ford company is unable to find replacement part for the throttle bottle, assuming in high demand. was informed no longer under warranty. there needs to be a recall. *tr
Driving approximately 60mph on a busy road my acceleration quit and only the rpm revved up when i pressed the accelerator until the truck landed me on the side of the road. when the acceleration stopped it was immediate and it felt like the engine jerked and died even though it was technically still running (idling) while in motion. the vehicle jerked and shook as it slowed until it died. *tr
