I was driving on the freeway at 65 in the slow lane when suddenly the vehicle seemed to loose power. the engine was still running but the accelerator would not work. no gas seemed to be going to the engine but it was still running. the good thing was i was in the slow lane otherwise i would have been in serious trouble. i shut the engine off and waited a few moments before restarting. it started up and i was able to drive home. researching the problem on the internet led me to this site but it would appear that this is a common problem which ford needs to take of before someone is killed. *tr
Wife was driving vehicle 6 miles from home, vehicle began stumbling and would hardly run. made it out of 4 lane road to safety. wrench symbol showed till engine was turned off. shut off vehicle and restarted after approx. 5 minutes, continued 1 mile to destination. after vehicle set for 2 hours drove it 7 miles home and vehicle limped up driveway. wife was afraid to drive vehicle until 7/28/2013 when we tried it again. i can not drive vehicle since having a stroke but was with her. we drove vehicle to ymca and it went to limping after 9 miles, shut off and let set for 5-6 minutes. vehicle ran ok for an additional 5 miles to y. started home after 1 hour at y. vehicle ran approx 5 miles in 45 and 30 mph speed limit area. it started limping approx. 500 feet from stop light. it went in limp mode 4 more times in the last 9 miles to get home. luckily the traffic was not real heavy late in afternoon and we made it home without any accidents; only a very stressful ride home. vehicle now showed engine symbol. we read the fault code and it was p2111 or faulty throttle body. this is a very expensive repair which dealer said was out of warranty at 36k. miles. *tr
Driving at 55 mph, car jerked and the gas pedal failed to respond. coasted over to the side of the road. turned vehicle off. restarted and started driving again with out problem. same thing happened again except with a large cement truck behind me. the ford died and there was no shoulder on the side of the road. the cement truck was able to go into the oncoming traffic lane to miss me. the escape did the same scenario twice on the way to the garage. ( with out the cement truck) the problem was diagnosed as the throttle body malfunction. *tr
I was driving at 60mph on the highway, the car suddenly lost power, i pulled over quickly and it was barely running, the engine was sputtering. i shut it off waited a few minutes and then started, it worked after. that problem then happened 3 more times in the next 20min. i immediately took it to a garage and the error code showed electronic throttle body. *tr
While driving on highway around 70mph when car went into a "limp" mode and would not accelerate. wrench light came on. after restarting the car, it performed as normal and no wrench light was lit. this has happened several times in one week at varying speeds. my ford store did not find a problem. i've also felt a surge when the accelerating the vehicle. *tr
7/16/13, wife drove her car to work, dropped my son of at my mother's. got to the corner, tried to accelerate and it stalled, with no power, had to coast to the side of the road. 7/19/13, i was driving home, car stalled at the light, no accelerator power, wrench light came on. turned it off, re-started, ran fine for about 1/4 mile, then started shaking and no accelerator power. this continued every quarter mile for 4 miles. finally on the last shut down, check engine light came on, and engine started to shake with no response. pulled over, and then let it set for 5 mins, restarted and finally made it around the corner to my home.. next available appointment at ford dealer is 29 july... *tr
While driving at highway speeds 65 mph , my cars engine suddenly stopped running . this has happened more than once at different speeds. nearly caused a pile up. *tr
While driving down the interstate, the car started to de-accelerate. the accelerator did not respond and i went into limp mode. car was towed to repair shop. it started right up and no problem was found - didn't register on the computer and wrench warning light went off. ten days later, the car did the same thing, this time in the city. different repair shop diagnosed the problem as the throttle body. ford dealers in the area told me there were 3700 of these parts on back order! gee, maybe there is a problem with massive numbers needing to be replaced! a recall needs to be initiated. my incident on the interstate almost resulted in an accident. *tr
On the 18th of july, 2013, while driving on a major interstate in my 2010 ford escape, my suv suddenly lost all throttle control and seemed to die. my wrench light came on and i was getting no response from the throttle and my engine was running roughly. i shut off the car and restarted it and tried to drive again. at 20 mph the throttle stopped working again. i was only a few hundred yards from a truck weight station and was able to crawl to the station at about 15 mph to troubleshoot the problem. i have a code reader in my vehicle and got p2111 and p2112 which is the throttle actuator control system - stuck open and stuck closed respectively. after letting the car sit for a while i was able to start it and the wrench light had gone out. i was able to go 60 mph for the rest of my 12 hour trip with no problems. today august 6, 2013 my car did the same thing. i was hoping it was a computer glitch and that i had gotten away one occurrence, but that was not the case. *tr
My throttle body broke which put the car into safe mode.this happened 5 times before i could get it repaired at the ford dealership.the dealer told me he replaced 3 that same day.
Vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly lost all power while driving on a major thoroughfare, almost resulting in a rear end collision. vehicle has now done that three times and is not being driven as it is unsafe to operate until repaired. ford states that it is a known issue with the throttle body but cannot obtain the replacement part for one to two months, rendering vehicle unusable and unsafe. *tr
I was driving on the highway when my car seemed to stall out even though it is an automatic. i pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off. i turned it on again and it seemed fine. i continued driving and it did the same thing. i took it to my mechanic and he told me that it was a faulty throttle body and needed to be replaced. *tr
Driving at 60mph motor shut off no lights no sound , no warning. *tr
Driving with cruise control set at 60mph, cruise disengaged, stepped on gas no throttle response pulled over and shut vehicle down restarted and proceeded home. next day went to my escape started vehicle and service engine light came on and remained on throughout the day. called my ford dealer to set up appointment to bring in the car for inspection. was given a appointment in 3 days time (july 18,2013 @11:30am) was told by service advisor that it would be okay and safe to keep driving the car. following day went to a meeting with my car, service engine light did not come on. while driving home the vehicle lost power and once again no throttle. dealer service called and reported that the throttle assembly required replacement, asked if this was a known problem with the escape and was told that there have been issues with the throttle assembly but no recall to date was told to keep the paid bill once the work was completed in case of a recall and reimbursement. *tr
I was driving at 50mph and next thing i know is my whole car was shaking it was a 2010 ford escape and i checked the dash and the orange wrench light is on. i tried to step on the gas pedal so i can find a place to pull over but i don't have any power on my gas pedal it just wont accelerate. *tr
On multiple occasions, our newly bought used vehicle (a 2010 ford escape with less than 60,000 miles,) had stalled on my party while driving. when the vehicle is in drive the car loses the ability to accelerate. some of the times all we had to do was restart the vehicle and it would get us back home. the occurrences of the problem happened more frequently when driving on a freeway or highway. *tr
Vehicle appears to be stalling out at random times. when this happens, there is no power from the gas pedal and no rpm movement. an orange wrench light comes on when the failure occurs. must pull over and turn engine completely off and restart to correct. the engine sputters for several seconds upon restart before turning back on. this process often has to repeated multiple times throughout the course of a single trip. vehicle was taken to a local auto care shop on 8/1/13 and it was determined the throttle body assembly is malfunctioning. was told by the service representative that there is a national back order on the part from ford and it could take up to a month to get the part in. the quote for the repair was $420 (including the cost of labor). upon further research of the issue over the internet it was determined that over 725,000 complaints have been filed over the same issue on the ford escapes, yet no recall has taken effect. *tr
My 17 year old daughter has had two occurrences of the vehicle losing all power within the last two days (7/10/2013 and 7/11/2013). once she was starting from a red light and the other she was driving down the road. both times she was able to pull off to the side of the road and start the car and continue travel. *tr
Pulled into traffic on a busy 4 lane freeway and as i reached 50 mph and all throttle control disappeared and car was only steerable but no acceleration as i tried to work the car off to the side creating a hazardous situation. the engine was still running roughly but with no gas petal response. i turned off the car, re-tried starting and then no signs of problems, took to dealer and found faulty throttle body, a national back order from ford indicating that this is happening all over the country, and will not be covered by warranty, far short of what would be expected of a throttle body, and creating a dangerous safety issue. *tr
Driving down the road and everything seemed fine. suddenly, the engine shuddered, hesitated, and lost power. luckily, traffic was light and i was able to get off the road. all fluids ok, battery ok, fuel ok, etc. after checking options, i tried restarting the car. it started fine -like there was no problem. since then it has been happening more often, but not on at any predictable time or event. engine cool or hot, slow or high speed, smooth or bumpy road -just whenever it seems to feel like it. i've been reading online that this seems to be a common problem with the throttle body on these vehicles. i'm now looking for a replacement and am wondering how much this is going to cost. since it is a widespread issue, will ford reimburse for the expense? *tr
While driving the wrench light came on and the car slowed and became sluggish. took the car right to the ford dealer. i was told it was the throttle body. i had just had a 30,000 mile checkup 2 months before and the throttle body was serviced and now 3,000 miles later i need to have it replaced... if i had been on the thruway when this happened. it could have caused an accident being at high speed then losing power. i was lucky. *tr
Please be advised while driving on i-285 in rush hour traffic my 2010 ford escape stalled. the vehicle was unresponsive and slowed down on its own. i had to pull off to the side of the road in rush hour traffic. upon taking the vehicle to ford, they replaced a faulty throttle body. *tr
I was driving with my 7 week old son and 3 year old daughter. i pulled up to a red light and stopped. when the light turned green i pressed the gas to go. my vehicle surged forward into the intersection and then only slowly moved. there was power to the car, lights, music, and air were working but my car was only slowly moving and shaking. it was as if no gas was getting to the engine. i had to pull over onto the right lane, because the road had no shoulder. the sound and feeling the car was making made me feel like i needed to drive with my foot on the brake and the gas at the same time. there was no warning signs that there was anything wrong with my car, it just all of a sudden stopped. it was the worst feeling ever being stuck on a busy road with no shoulder to pull over onto and having my 2 babies in the car with me, as cars come driving up and having to switch lanes or slam on their brakes to avoid me. *tr
July 5, 2013 i was driving hfrom st simons island, ga to florence, sc. i was on a connector bridge when the vehicle lost power but the engine kept running. i steered the vehicle to the side of the road, parked it, and turned off the engine since i could not get the vehicle to move. when i started the engine again, it started up, and i had power so i drove for about a mile, and a repeat occurrence happened. again, i turned off the engine, and on restart was able to get the vehicle moving. i found a meineke repair shop in brunswick, ga and pulled in there. they checked the vehicle out but could find nothing wrong (no dash lights appeared). so i drove the vehicle to florence without further incident. a short time later, on july 27, 2013, i was once again in st simons island and the vehicle lost power with the engine running. i had to steer the car to the side of the road, turned off the engine, then started it up again. i was able to get the vehicle to the island auto repair shop (this time the "check engine" light was on. they cleaned the part, said it should work fine, use fuel injector cleaner, and sent me on my way. on august 19, in florence, sc, the same thing occurred again, only this time the vehicle was unable to move at all, even though the engine kept running. i had to call aaa, who had it towed to millers foreign auto repair shop, where it still sits waiting on a new part. they have told me it's the electronic throttle body assembly w/ wiring harness and sensor that failed, and i am waiting on the part for so long because so many of these have failed. i am one of thousands whose vehicle is affected by this flawed technology. this is a dangerous condition for consumers to have to put up with, as ford is not going to voluntarily correct this issue. please issue a recall before this flawed technology kills someone. thank you. *tr
While driving on a two lane road doing approximately 40 mph my vehicle lost power. the car was still running but lost acceleration power. we had to coast until we found a place on the side of the road to move to. *tr
Vehicle stalls while driving , stalls while idle , rpm's spike while driving !!! scary !! codes read p2112 . (throttle stuck open ) thinking bad throttle body ? *tr
Traveling approx 25mph vehicle became unresponsive to gas pedal. car coasted to side of road (no shoulder on blind curve). car began to buck and jerk. wrench light came on.turned off ignition, waited approx 30 seconds and restarted car. no further issue. extremely dangerous situation. scared to drive. *tr
While driving at a constant speed of approximately 35 mph, vehicle suddenly stalled without warning or hesitation. i coasted to a stop in a nearby parking lot (luckily!), turned ignition off and vehicle restarted and ran with no problems for almost two weeks. on saturday, july 13th while driving in a similar situation, the vehicle again stalled and would not restart until i coasted to a stop on the side of the road and turned the ignition off. since then the vehicle has done this about a half dozen times but not always by just stalling. the vehicle has also went into 'limp home' mode on at least one occasion when my son was driving and he was lucky enough to be close to a friend's house where it sat overnight. when we started it the next time it ran like it was misfiring very badly, so we turned the ignition off and tapped on the throttle body with the handle of a screwdriver. it then started and idled normally and we were able to drive it about three miles home. it also has sputtered erratically similar to a very bad repeated misfiring until stopping and turning the ignition off. it did this twice within a quarter mile and then ran fine for over 15 miles that i drove it to the ford dealership who wanted $107 dollars to diagnose a problem that i am fairly certain i already had figured out. the dealership said their 'specially trained' technicians may find a different cause than the p2111 code i had read with a scanner from a local auto parts store suggested. i have found out that this problem was supposed addressed by ford thinking that there was a printed circuit board problem in the electronic throttle body. however, this vehicle was manufactured in march of 2010, after the october 15th, 2009 date they had started using the new part. *tr
I made a left turn from a stop light and the car seemed to be accelerating and shifting but suddenly just started "chugging" and become very difficult to steer, almost as if the brake were on. i got as close to the edge of the road as i could and turned the car off. i looked up the symbol (wrench) in the manual and it said "powertrain fault" call your authorized dealer. it was terrifying being stuck in the middle of the street in the dark! i had my hazard flashers on and when i called my son he asked if i could start the car and get off the street. it did start up and i was able to move it about a 100 feet before it started "choking up" again. i waited a few minutes and did that again and was able to get it into a parking lot and off the street. my car was towed to the ford dealership and when i called them the next day they informed me that it was the throttle body and that part is on back order and it may be a couple of weeks. my warranty expired in may at the three year point. ford said it is not under warranty and will be about $400 to repair; they will not provide transportation and my insurance won't cover a rental unless i am in a collision. ironically, had i turned left when i left the drugstore i would have been on the main street in town and between a strip shopping center and the mall and probably would have been in a wreck! from what the service man told me this is a problem they are aware of, but through no fault of my own, i have to fix the problem and cover the cost of a rental for possibly several weeks because they cannot keep the part in stock. insult and injury! i am single and do not have anyone to chauffeur me. my son picks me up at work, i drop him off and keep his truck so i can shop or go to eat and i pick him up in the morning. please investigate this before someone is seriously injured, as i could have been!! *tr
Accelerated to merge into traffic and my 2010 ford escape started to act like it was going to stall when i pressed on the gas pedal. ever time i tried to accelerate it felt like it was "choking" and wanted to stall. i had to put the vehicle in neutral and press on the gas to keep it from stalling. i had my vehicle towed to the dealership and was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. in addition to the fact the throttle body needs to be replaced i am now being told there is a nationwide back order on the part and i will not get the repair completed for 2-3 weeks. i am 1-1/2 months passed warranty with only 26,000 miles and neither ford nor the dealership will loan me a vehicle while my car sits at the dealership nor will this even be considered warranty work. *tr
While pressing the accelerator the car shuts off and comes to a slow stop. your are not able to accelerate. the wrench light comes on first. i stop the car, turn it off, wait about 10sec and turn the car back on. it starts fine. i travel about 6 miles and the car stops again, this time jerking back and forth a little and then the check engine light comes on. i stop the car and follow the same steps on turning it back on. i am still able to break and steer off of roads. however, not with much time before it completely stops. i took it to advanced auto parts and got the vehicle diagnosed. the code was p2112/throttle actuator per the representative. this is highly dangerous when traveling on the highway or any busy roadway during rush hour traffic everyday to and from work. *tr
While driving the vehicle began sputtering and then would not accelerate and would barely move when pushing the gas pedal. it was diagnosed initially as the throttle actuator stuck open. it was cleaned. i drove it and less than 24 hours later it lost acceleration on a major highway at a traveling speed of 65 mph. i had to pull over 3 times and restart it to get it to a car repair place. i ended up having to have it towed to a ford dealership where they replaced the throttle actuator motor. the diagnostic code was p2111. i asked for the old part and it did not look worn or damaged. the repeated loss of acceleration on a major highway during morning rush hour created a great risk to my safety and those of the other motorists around me. the service man at the ford dealership advised me they were seeing a number of similar situations involving this part with ford escapes. the total cost for both service visit was $465.00. *tr
Traveling at 65 mph engine suddenly drops in rpm to about 600 - 900 rpm and check engine light comes on. pulled car to side of road, shut it off and restarted. engine ran fine and was later inspected. obd indicates throttle body malfunction and requires replacement. *tr
As i was traveling down the road and was slowing down the vehicle suddenly acted like transmission kicked into neutral but when i looked down i saw open wrench symbol in cluster lit up and rpm was at idle and would not respond to throttle being applied and engine was running awful. i had to pull off onto shoulder and cut ignition off and restart vehicle but was only able to make it a bout a 100 yds. when it happened again. we caught a ride home and i came back with my scanner and drove it down the highway and it did it again at 55 mph. so i pulled off the road and scanned for codes and it had pending code p2111- throttle actuator control system stuck open. i purchased new throttle body and installed myself at a cost of 171.68 less tax. not covered by powertrain warranty. car operates fine so far. 2010 ford escape 3.0liter v-6 with 55 thousand miles. *tr
The vehicle stalled several times when i was pulling out from a stop or just after i pulled out from a stop. i took it to my dealer to have it serviced and was told that they needed to replace the throttle body. this cost me a total of 384.08. i was told at the dealer that this has happened to other 2010 escapes at that dealerships. a quick google search lead me to see that it has happened to many others as well. there is no question that this is a safety issue as i stalled in intersections on more than one occasion. if there is a recall, i would like to make sure i am reimbursed for the expense i have paid to fix this. *tr
On going problem with truck losing power on the highway at speeds up to 60mph then no power. finally truck totally stalled out unable to keep running. now i found out the part is not under warranty even though it is obviously defected----------cost----out of pocket $569.00 plus car rental------perfect!!!!!!! i will never own another ford---fix or repair daily!!!! *tr
The first incident happened as i was leaving work. i'd just pulled out of our parking lot onto the highway when my car failed to accelerate. a wrench symbol light came on and i coasted to the side of the highway, turned it off, let it sit for a moment and then restarted my car. i made it about 7 miles when the same thing happened. i pulled into a parking lot and used my phone to google the symptoms on a ford forum. it stated that there were in fact several incidents stating the exact same problems. and that after restarting their vehicles, it resets itself. so i continued home. it happened 2 more times before i made it home only now the check engine light was on as well. i called ford and they stated there was in fact an issue with the throttle body affecting several ford vehicles. i had my car towed to ford where they diagnosed that it was in fact the throttle body. however, this part is now on a national backorder. i am the 13th person at my local dealership needing this part in order to drive my vehicle. i have children and i refuse to put their lives at risk in this vehicle. they cleaned the throttle body and said this was a band aid fix until the part came in which by the way has no eta.this band aid repair lasted less than 24 hours. i have the extended warranty and it will cover this repair but i'm going to have to pay $100 deductible for it to be fixed. why am i having to pay out of pocket for a problem that is not specific to my vehicle? they have posted bulletins but still no recall. is it going to take someone being killed before they do something about this. i'm having to depend on rides from friends to get to and from work, to get to the grocery store, to pick up my children. my extended warranty will cover 2 days of a rental. ford says they can't offer me a loaner vehicle. please make them do something about this... *tr
6/26/13 - driving in the right lane on interstate 81 in pennsylvania at approximately 65 miles per hour and engine completely lost power. a large truck was behind me and i immediately put my four way flashers on. luckily there were no vehicles in the left lane and the truck changed lanes. additional vehicles were coming upon my vehicle quickly so i pulled over on the berm at about 40 mph and applied the brakes and stopped. turned off the car and restarted and problem went away and continued on trip. problem happened again the next day 6/27/13 driving on interstate 81 at approximately 65 mph. same problem where engine completely lost power. i put on my four way flashers and approaching traffic started moving to the left lane. pulled over to the berm and shut the car off. restarted and tried to pull out. problem happened again. shutoff and restarted and was then able to pull out and finish trip. this is the fourth time in less than a month that this has occurred. after the first time i contacted ford and ordered a new throttle body. part is on back order and keep being told next week. ford made me give them a credit card to order the part and has charged my account but has not given me the part. *tr
Drove about an hour away from home, mostly highway. when i got into the city towards the end of the trip, the wrench light came on and the car stopped accelerating. i pulled over and restarted the car and was able to go a few hundred feet before i lost acceleration again. this time the check engine light came on. i pulled over, waited about 10 minutes, restarted the car, and was able to drive the rest of the way (less than a mile). the car was towed to the nearest dealer where it was determined the throttle body needed to be replaced. i am currently on a long waiting list for parts. *tr
I was preparing for a stop light in heavy traffic when my vehicle speed to stall and shake. all ability to accelerate was gone. as i braked the shaking became worse. i was finally able to pull on to a side-road and put the vehicle in park, which made the shake become worse. i cut the vehicle off, waited one minute, turned it on, and it seemed to be fine. i accelerated for approximately 200 ft and the event repeated itself. this cycle continued until i was able to drift into a midas shop approximately 1/8th of a mile from the onset of the incident. the mechanic performed a diagnostic and reported the throttle body was damaged. the ford escape did not exhibit any symptoms or warning signs prior to this incident. *tr
Car stalled at 35 mph and i became stuck on the road in traffic. the check engine light came on. the engine was idling low and the throttle pedal would not move the car. i got towed to a ford dealer who said the electronic throttle assembly failed. the part is out of stock nation wide and one customer they have has been waiting for 2 months for a throttle body. i called 5 dealers for part availability and they are out too and have customers waiting for a part. *tr
I was driving along & suddenly lost all throttle. a wrench appeared on my instrument panel & it was running very rough. i was able to idle over into a parking lot, but had no throttle power. i shut the vehicle off & just sat there, thinking about my options. i tried to start it & it started, so i drove it straight to a shop, where they hooked it up to their diagnostic machine. the wrench in the instrument panel was no longer there & the vehicle didn't throw any codes. the mechanic told me to drive it & contact ford that next day. i called the ford dealer & was told there are no recalls on this. since june, this has happened several times & it finally threw a code in which the engine light came on, so i had my mechanic take a look at it. he removed the throttle body & cleaned the plates. it seemed to do much better, until a couple weeks ago. it's started it again & is now happening much more frequently. on 08/27/2013, i was driving on a highway in the passing lane, going about 60 mph when it happened again. i could have been rear-ended! i was able to limp it over to the shoulder, where i shut it off, waited, & then started it back up again. it happened three times in about a 15 mile period on 09/06/2013 & two times on 09/08/2013. on 09/06/2013, i again called the local ford dealer & spoke to someone in parts. i was told the part i needed was recalled & was also on back order (3,800 parts behind). i called back to speak to someone in the service department & was told the parts person was wrong, because the part had not been recalled, although he had three cars there waiting on the same part for the same exact problem. if this is a known constant problem, why hasn't there been a recall? someone is going to get hurt in a rear-ender accident & i hope it's not me. *tr
Engine simply stopped operating in midst of traffic and immediately decelerated....then resumed operation but vehicle unable to move faster than a crawl....then stopped again....then resumed again. was able to exit freeway and reach gas station. turned off vehicle and called aaa for emergency road assistance. vehicle was towed to ford dealership. ford replaced the throttle body and motor asy which was on backorder for 2 weeks. today, december 26 2013 the symptom has resurfaced. the engine simply stopped in the midst of traffic. was able to pull out of the flow of traffic. car restarted and was able to continue driving home. *tr
For the last couple of weeks while at stop lights or when the car was just idling i notice the car would shake/sputter/hesitate, like it was not getting enough fuel to the engine to idle, every once in a while but it did not stall out completely it would recover. then while driving home on june 23, 2013 at 40mph i took my foot off of the gas pedal for a second to begin to slow down as i was approaching a red light, however, the light changed before i got to the intersection and then the car made a shutter/thud not a loud sound but you knew something has just happened, i thought maybe my transmission had just gone out because when i was pressed on the gas pedal it did not respond. i pushed the pedal all the way to the floor but nothing happened. i could not tell if the car really stalled out it seemed more like the gas pedal was just not responding. i lost speed rapidly and coasted into a parking lot. the first time i restarted the car the gas pedal still did not work but the car did go into gear so i thought it must not be the transmission. the second time i restarted the car i gave the gas pedal a couple of pumps before putting into gear to make sure it was responding that worked and i made it home. the car did hesitate and sputter when i was sitting still at the lights so i would put it in park and rev the engine until the light changed. i took the car to a ford dealership the next day and they informed me that the throttle body needs to be replaced and of course that is an out of pocket expense as my warranty is expired. how many of these complaint have to be filed before ford has to admit this is there fault for putting faulty throttle bodies in these cars and issues a recall ? *tr
Cranked the escape, selected drive but the engine would cut off. crank it back up and cutoff. happened several times. finally got the car moving by keeping the rpms up. drove about 40 minutes of speeds up to 55 mph. when we got near our destination everytime we slowed down the car would knock off. car would crank but would knock off again. able to keep car going by keeping rpms up. car was towed to ford dealership and repaired. *tr
Driving normal hwy speeds, throttle shuts down. wrench indicator lights. have to try to get off of hwy on to shoulder. when stopped, engine still runs but very rough and the throttle does nothing. after turning the engine off the problem resets and runs fine for approx 20 miles or more. then the same thing happens again. the problem then progressively gets worse. have read that this is a huge issue and needs t be addressed before someone gets injured or killed. *tr
Accelerator stuck on off ramp and tried to push the vehicle through the intersection. this has happened on three different occasions. ford dealer can not duplicate problem. *tr
Driving on interstate i-95 car stopped accelerating and engine went to idle speed - barely managed to avoid getting hit by other cars on highway and limped home at approx 5 mph - vehicle was checked by bonell ford in winchester ma. ford has indicated that the parts for repair are on national backorder note that the ford dealer i purchased this car from bonell ford in winchester ma. has 3 other ford escape's waiting for the same parts - this is a serious safety issue and this vehicle should be recalled before someone is killed. *tr
The vehicle stalled while driving on the highway at 60 mph. *tr
While driving on the interstate at highway speed the vehicle suddenly lost all power. the engine warning lights came on and it had no accelerator response. managed to pull over onto shoulder, turned off the engine waited a moment and it restarted and ran normally. while i was fortunate enough to pull over safely, this could be a very dangerous situation when you have no control of the vehicle. at first it happened just once or twice making me think. it was just bad gasoline or a fuel filter. over the months since it has gotten worse and i learned of the throttle body defect. *tr
