We have classified the 552 complaints from 2010 Ford Escape about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
I was driving at 20 miles an hour when suddenly the tool light came on and my ford no longer would get gas from the gas pedal. i was suddenly coasting without ability to give gas to the car however the engine was still running. it came to a stop after i was able to get out of high traffic area almost getting hit by other cars. there is no warning it happened suddenly. shut off car turned back on and was fine. on the 9th of sept just a couple days later this continued to happen a total of three times almost causing a severe accident--something needs to be done about this as it has been reported too many times as being a electronic throttle body failure and it is a defect. i am having to pay for the repairs at the ford dealer tomorrow as i had it tested today and hooked up to diagnostics and there was nothing that gave warnings. i was told to take to the dealer it must be electrical problem. also the rpm's were going crazy when this happened each time. the agency needs to have it so it is recalled item so this wouldn't be coming directly out of the consumers pocket--it is obviously a defect in the ford 2010 escape--i want a refund!!! *tr
Throttle body sensor malfunctioned, and accelerator peddle went limp. dealership is telling us it's not under warranty, we're under the 36,000mi but over on the 3 years however now i'm reading this is a very common problem with this make and model. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle would no longer accelerate and began shaking. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the throttle body would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 60,600. *tr
Driving down road at 55mph, suddenly the gas pedal was unresponsive (no power) . pulled to the side of road, shut car down and waited approx. 5 min. then restarted car. ran ok. since then this has been a recurring event. recently stalled on railroad tracks as my wife was driving to work. would like to see ford step up and recall before someone losses their life in an accident. this is a fairly expensive repair, approx. $650 from what we've read on line. seems to be happening with more frequency since first occurrence. *tr
While driving approx. 40mph over a freeway overpass, the car lurched repeatedly, and slowed way down. i could not accelerate. the wrench light came on. i was able to eventually get it pulled over, turn it off and restart it. for the next day and a half, it would die almost every time i came to a stop for more than 30 seconds, or any time i tried to drive up my inclined driveway. i rested it the next day (sunday) and monday morning drove it to the dealership for repair. it did not die on the way to the dealership. now the dealership has it and they have road tested it 2 or 3 times and can't get it to repeat the problem or show codes. i've found several links online to people having the exact same problem and it turns out to be the throttle body. however, the ford dealer says they cannot fix it under warranty unless it shows them codes or repeats the behavior for them. they are not allowed to just take my word for it that this happened. as it's apparently an intermittent problem, who knows when it will happen again? so if it doesn't do it for them in the next day, i'll have to pick the car back up unfixed, and am terrified to drive it on the freeway for fear of being killed when it loses power at 65mph and causes an accident. *tr
Throttle body failure: replacement not only costly, but also on back order and is estimated to take several weeks. *jb
I will be driving and my vehicle will not go when i press the gas pedal. i will lose all acceleration and it will then begin to jolt and shake until i turn it off. sometimes it will start right back up sometimes i will have to wait a few minutes. there is no warning, it has done it when i'm going slow and it's done it when i am on interstate going 65mph, it has done it when i'm stopped and try to go. i almost got rear ended a few times because of this problem. i've spoken with many mechanics and they have all told me the throttle body, which will cost between 400-600 dollars to fix. *tr
Vehicle stalls out while driving and goes into an idle mode. vehicle has to be shut off and then restarted in order to go back into a mode that allows acceleration. *jb
The first occurrence i was driving in normal conditions at 40 mph and the engine lost power completely and a small wrench lit up on the dashboard. i pulled over safely and shut the engine down, waited a minute and the engine started right up. the same thing began happening at least once a day. in traffic, on the highway. this problem has almost caused serious accidents. i called the dealer and they said they have no idea what it could be. i looked the problem up and there are numerous complaints. there should be a recall before someone gets seriously hurt! *tr
Vehicle stalling, replaced throttle body. *jb
I was driving home from work at 11:45 p.m. and my vehicle started to slow down, i pulled over to the side of the road, i stepped on the gas and nothing. so i shut it off and waited a few minutes and restarted it, the vehicle took off and i made it home, 26 miles. this happened the next morning when my husband drove it took it to decorah auto center ford and they said they can't do anything with out a code. i have to restart the vehicle to drive it and this erases the code. today is the 5th and it happened again that is 3 times in 5 days. the little wrench lights up in the lower left on dash . this is very scary especially in heavy traffic. how can i get a code to get this fixed? i have to restart to drive. *jb
Driving on i80 west, when suddenly i lost power and the car started to decelerate, looked at the instrument panel and saw the "wrench" icon lit. pulled off of the interstate as the car continued to lose speed and limped into a service station parking lot. turned the ignition off and consulted the user manual and found the issue related to the "powertrain/throttle control". turned the ignition back on and all of the warning lights went off after starting the car. headed back to home via side streets and had one more incident after approximately 3 miles. followed the same procedure as before and was able to make it the rest of the way home (6 miles). if this had happened out in the country miles from nowhere i would have been extremely worried. parked car until after the holiday and called the ford dealership to arrange service. took car to ford dealership this morning(9/4) and was told later that the throttle body was bad. new one was back ordered to october 26th. service technician(kyle) told me i couldn't drive the car because it was a safety hazard. part is not covered under extended warrant, so a rental car will not be covered. i can't afford $1800 for a rental, so now what? dealer sympathetic, but unable to help. *jb
The vehicle needs a new electronic throttle body error code p2111. the car will lose power, the wrench light will come on, then the engine light will follow. once the car is powered off, then back on it runs again. a few minutes later the same issue occurs. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated the vehicle became hesitant to acceleration attempts while driving 70 mph. the contact shut off the engine and when restarted, the vehicle regained normal function. the wrench warning icon illuminated after the failure occurred. the vehicle was not taken to have a diagnostic performed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 57,550. .... updated 10-17-13 *bf the throttle body was replaced.
Driving in the middle lane of a highway going 70 mph, car bucked, wrench light came on, and dropped speed rapidly. pulled over, car was idling rough, tried to hit the gas and the car just jumped forward slightly 3 times going less than 3 mph. turned the car off, back on, and didn't want to start but finally did, wrench light went away and the car drove fine. drove it to the ford dealership 1.5 miles away and they stated it was the electronic throttle body that failed and needed to be replaced. *jb
I was driving on i-66 at about 60 mph and suddenly lost power. luckily i was just approaching an exit in a rural area and was able to coast onto the ramp, which sloped downward ahead of me. the engine continued to run but at a very low rpm and there was no response to the gas pedal. the wrench symbol came onto the instrument panel. i had the car towed about 40 miles to my usual independent mechanic. after investigation, i was told that this was a throttle body problem. they installed a new throttle body and the problem has not returned for seven months. *tr
While driving on the interstate going 65 mph i felt a jolt like the car had dropped into a lower gear. the speed immediately went down to 40 mph. when i pushed down on the accelerator it would not go above the 40 mph. i moved over to the shoulder. the wrench light came on. the engine continued to run, very shaky, and i called for a tow. the dealer replaced the throttle body.*jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while stopped at a stop sign, the vehicle would not accelerate. the wrench warning icon was also illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. the mechanic stated the throttle would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
Driving on highway at about 50 mph, sounded like engine shut down and the gas wouldn't work at all. thankfully, the brakes worked and i pulled over and turned the car off for a few minutes before turning it back on and driving to my mechanic who recommended going to my ford dealer. they charged me over $500 to replace the throttle body and reprogram the pcm... any recalls from ford for this? *jb
I am having problems with the throttle body on my 2010 ford escape doing a lot of the same things. its throwing itself into limp home mode and power failure with the throttle and shifting problems. and no power when stepping on the gas. i have read up on all the reports and the investigation. so i proceeded to take my car to town east ford in mesquite texas where i purchased the car from. the service tech guy at town east ford. refused to acknowledge the investigation and refused to check my car out without me paying him a bunch of money and refused to call my extended warranty without collecting the money up front. he proceeded to tell me that their dealership is not part of ford so therefore he has no idea what is going on and i can show him all i want to on the internet but he refuses to do anything until i pay all the money up front even though they are a ford dealership. the tech was very rude and i finally left there without getting my car fixed and still having problems. ford needs to come out with this recall before someone winds up in serious wrecks from it and the dealerships need to honor the products and vehicle they sell of ford. *jb
On wednesday, august 28, 2013 i was on the interstate, outside of town when i accelerated to merge lanes & my escape started lurching and i lost power causing my car to cost to a stop. i was able to limp to a location that was safe and had to call for a tow truck. i had it taken to the dealership where it was purchased and where i have all maintenance done on it. i was told by landmark ford service that it was the throttle body and that it would take about two weeks to get the part in and around $520.00 to fix it. i spoke with ford corp and they said they are aware of this problem (thus, the back order on replacement parts). my escape is 3 years old. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated as the wrench warning icon illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 145,000.
The car started feeling vibrations in the pedals, lost speed, eventually stalled on a highway. i had it towed to a repair shop and they said the fly-by throttle body unit had failed. *tt
Whe leaving our home in haines city,fl. the vehicle roughly changed gears. then we entered a very busy highway and went to accelerate and lost power, and acted like it wanted to stall the drive triain light then lit up.the vehicles behind blew their horns because the vehicle slowed substantialy without showing brake lights.we took the vehicle to the ford garage ,and charged us for analizing the problem and the cost and installation of the throttlebody. the service representative told us he fthought it would be the throttle body, prior to analizing it.after researching ford vehicle problems on the computer,i found that this is a common problem with the ford vehicles.this is a problem that could cause very serious rea end collisions, and should be the responsibility of the ford motor to repair and to resolve the problem.thisshould not be a failur of this part on a vehicle with low mileage especially. *tt
I was traveling through a busy intersection, as i mashed the gas pedal nothing happened. my car went "limp" as if it had cut off but it was still on. i coasted to the side of the road, just barely avoiding being struck by speeding traffic. i cut my car off and waited 5 minutes then restarted it. i was able drive it a short distance to a mechanic where it again "went limp". after my car was examined, the mechanic determined the problem was the throttle body had malfunctioned. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while traveling 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. the vehicle was moved to the shoulder where it was shut down and restarted but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 74,000.
While driving at approximately 70 mph the engine suddenly cut out, there was no response to the gas pedal. a blinking yellow wrench symbol came on the dash board. we coasted to a stop on the side of the road, where i switched the car off and after a couple of minutes started it again seemingly to be fine. the next day it happened again, 70 mph on a toll road, again it restarted after a shutdown. this time we went about 3 more miles down the road and it cut out again. 2 more times after that, before getting it back home. it was the throttle body unit according to the failure codes, i have replaced it at a cost of $295. *tr
On 8/24/13, while traveling out of state, i entered the highway, got my speed up to 70 mph, when the vehicle jolted hard and all acceleration was lost. i coasted to a stop on the side of the highway, turned the engine off, waited 30 seconds, and restarted it. it cranked hard, but started. i reentered the highway, accelerated to about 70 mph and the escape lost acceleration again. i again coasted to a stop and repeated the above steps. the car once again started and i was able to complete my trip home, keeping my speed to around 55mph. no problems with the vehicle from 8/24/13 until 10/15/13. on 10/15/13, the vehicle was being driven around 25 mph when it lost all acceleration. by turning the vehicle off and back on, it was able to be driven to its destination. about 4 hours later, returning home, the vehicle twice more lost all acceleration while going about 25 mph. all 5 of these incidents happened in busy, high trafficked areas, and posed a real accident potential for my family. *tr
While drivin about fifty the car just stopped going, the wrench light came on, i tried to push the fas pedal but nothing would happen it just slowed to a stop. so i put it in park and turned it off waited a few seconds and it started up and i drove off. a couple of days later it happened again at about 35 mph, so i did the same. thought it was a fluke and/or the weather being the problem so i called ford dealer and they said it sounds like the throttle body. well for the past month it happens everyday while im driving 65 or 15 just all of the sudden it stops going and i have to pull off the side of the road put it in park and restart it sometimes it goes a few feet and i have to do it again sometimes it just starts and goes and now the check engine light comes on every third time in a row that it happens stays on for a couple days and then goes out for a couple days and so on, just do the recall we have all been reading about it doesn't take a genius like you people to figure this out ........hear let me help you dooooo the recall. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph and making a turn, the vehicle began to decelerate without warning. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. the failure recurred nine times. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they informed the contact that the electronic throttle body would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired because the part was on back order until october 26, 2013. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 77,000.
Driving 70 mph on hwy truck just starts to stall no control of gas pedal cars almost crashed in to me i was lucky i was able to coast out of the way. trouble code is p2111 needs a new throttle body that is on back order for a ford national recall and i have to wait days to get, price for part is $380 . after a call to ford customer service they said my car is not recalled but funny how the part number changed and it is the same one they have a recall on and they will not replace the part since my car is out of the 3 years 36,000 mile warranty my truck has 50,000 mile. ford has lost a long time customer !!! buy american made !!!! thanks ford ex owner of expedition, explorer, thunderbird, cougars, town car, 2 continentals no more fords at my house.....!!!!!!! *tr
I was driving home with my five year old son when i noticed my vehicle seem to be running rough. first, i noticed a rough idle when i stopped at a stop light. then, while turning accross on coming traffic the vehicle looses all power with no throttle response and the engine light illuminated. at this point i was still in the way of on coming traffic and could not accelerate to finish the turn. thank god i did idle to safety. i then stopped on the side of the road and put the vehicle in park and observed a very rough idle and no throttle response at all. i shut off the vehicle and restarted it after thirty seconds and it ran normal again with the engine light off. i immediately took the vehicle to a parts store to have the the ecm scanned for trouble codes. the tech could not recover or read any codes at that time. i found that troubling at the time but found out later that not all scan tools can access stored codes. i had this occur twice the next day while driving to work. i then called my local ford dealer to schedule service and when i told him the symptoms he immediately knew the problem. i ordered a new throttle body assembly per their instruction and asked if there are any recalls or tsb's on this issue if it's that common. the dealer checked and found a tsb on this problem but no recalls. i personally feel this is definately a safety concern and should treated as that before someone does get hurt or worse, killed in an accident. i called ford customer service the next day to file a complaint and find out why they aren't being proactive with this serious issue. i was told that they have no known safety recalls or tsb's at this time. i was also told that this problem was not something they had encountered very often. since then, i have researched this and found that it is very known and being investigated at this time. thank you.
For the 2nd time in 2 1/2 weeks, my 2010 ford escape has stalled on me. today it happened while driving on the highway and nearly causing an accident. thank god i was able to pull over to the shoulder, although without being able to accelerate at all no matter how much i pressed on the pedal. once i got on the shoulder of the highway and hit the brake, my car jerked a little and then shut off. the first occurrence happened 2 1/2 weeks ago while i was pulling out of a fast food drive-thru. as i started to accelerate, it would not go anywhere. i pushed the pedal all the way down to the floor and my car wouldn't move at all. then all of a sudden it started jerking and finally stalled on me just as it did today. when i restarted my car, it took a few seconds longer than usual. last week i took it in for an oil change to my mechanic and explained the first occurrence to him. after he checked it out he stated that it's a throttle body issue which will be expensive. since then, i have been searching online to see if anybody else has had the same issue with their ford escape and as expected, i found tons of complaints from other ford escape owners that have had the same issue. i contacted the dealership today where i purchased my car and they told me that it would cost $105 just to run a diagnostic. they also stated that the extended warranty that i purchased when i bought the car does not cover any expenses to get this problem fixed. although there doesn't seem to be any recalls on any 2010 ford escapes that i could find online, i believe there should be a recall placed as this is a huge safety issue. with so many other complaints i've found online, i don't understand how ford hasn't done a recall. *tr
Driving the vehicle normally when suddenly lost all power (limp mode) the lady in the vehicle behind me almost hit me then she went off the road herself. i had to pull over i shut the engine off and went to check on the lady in the other vehicle and luckily her and her vehicle were fine, unfortunately i did not get her name or number. when i restarted the vehicle it operated normally, the throttle was responsive again. i drove about 3 more miles and it happened again as i was making a left hand turn. again shut the engine off and restarted again operated normally. i later took the vehicle to a local car parts store and had them check the codes. the codes they got were p2111 and p2112 throttle body stuck open, stuck closed respectively. i contacted a ford service center and they informed me that they can schedule service next week but they have so many of these bad that the parts are on back order. since this caused a near miss i felt compelled to report it as well as it seems to be a pretty sizable issue since the parts are difficult for ford to get. *tr
Was going down highway around 50 mph and all of a sudden without warning, lost power. vehicle did not die, just had no gas power, had to coast out of roadway. this same scenario has happened numerous times since then, all without warning and sometimes in dangerous situations in middle of heavy traffic. i have reported this all to ford company headquarters. *jb
Car would occasionally lurch forward while driving, then on august 21st 2013, car lurched forward then felt like it stalled out. took it to ford dealership they stated that the throttle body went out and needed to be replaced. *tr
Driving on the highway at a maintained speed, my vehicle illuminated a maintenance light, and within seconds the gas pedal was not working. i was on a slight hill at the time so i still had some momentum, enough to pull over out of the traffic. the steering, brakes, and everything else were working fine, but nothing happened when i pressed the gas. when i put the car in park there was some stuttering, almost like it was stalling out, coming from under the hood. i turned the vehicle off and waited a few moments. when i turned it back on, it took an extra 2-3 seconds to start up, but seemed to be running fine, and i drove to work, then right to the dealer after work for repairs. they told me it was the electronic throttle body, and that it is now running fine since they replaced the throttle body, and i am going to pick it up after work today. *tr
On 2 occasions my 2010 ford escape lost throttle power while driving. this has happened once while starting to accelerate and once while driving 45 mph. the yellow toolbar lights up on the instrument panel and the car essentially loses power and i'm unable to drive forward. after further investigation we need to replace the throttle body which cost $345 (not covered by warranty and no recall). in my opinion this should be a recalled part considering how common this problem appears to be and more importantly the extremely dangerous position it leaves you on the road when the throttle body fails. *tr
I bought vehicle 2010 ford escape in august of 2011. in february of 2011 i was driving down a city road going about 30 mph and my escape starting stalling out would not accelerate wrench light came on. i pulled into a parking lot and it was idling rough like it was going to stall out. i put my escape into park pushed slightly on gas pedal it made no difference with my foot on the brake i switched it into gear made no difference. i put car back into park and turned it off. waited a few minutes started it. it started right up with no problems. i ran fuel cleaner through it. i did not have anymore problems until thursday aug 15th 2013. i was driving down city road going about 30 mph it did the same thing again. started stalling out would not pick up acceleration running rough wrench light came on pulled into parking lot barley idling sputtering like it was going to stall i put car into park turned engine off waited a few minutes. turned back on. my car started fine ran fine like nothing happened again. so today 8/20/13 im going down busy traffic country two lane road no where to pull car off on side safely. and again all of a sudden going about 35 mph i loose acceleration car starts sputtering i cant accelerate running rough wrench light came on i coasted up to stop sign as i had nowhere to safely pull car off road and put car in park turn off engine started engine right back up car ran fine. this is a safety issue. i thought at first my fuel filter may be the problem but as im reading the 2010 ford escapes have a guaranteed lifetime fuel filter inside the fuel tank cannot replace it. so as i was reading more in depth i see a lot of people having the same problem as i am with their 2010 escapes. i now see the problem is a throttle body issue defect and an investigation is going on. ford needs to do something about this before people wind up in crashes over this. *tr
Cruising at 60mph. without warning, car slows, throttle unresponsive. engine warning light on. car did not stall, but would not respond to throttle. coast to side of road, dodging traffic. put car in park, restarted and everything was normal. as of oct 7, 2013 this has occurred five times. code reader picks up no codes from engine pcm. *tr
I was driving 78mph on a major interstate surrounded by traffic at the same speed. suddenly the "wrench" icon flashed on and my car went from 78 to 5mph in a matter of seconds. it was an extremely dangerous situation for myself as well as other drivers. i flipped my flashers on and was able to pull to the shoulder. i killed the engine and restarted, made it to my exit where it happened a second time. the next day the battery was dead so we replaced and took to a garage to have everything checked. a diagnostic was run and they couldn't find anything. i drove it back and forth to work for 4 days when it started happening again. this time in a major intersection during rush hour causing traffic issues and congestion. we once again took it in today, 8/26/2013, they changed the air filter and again said nothing was wrong. i took it for a test drive. drove it about 20 miles when it started in again! this time the check engine light is staying on and the "wrench" light which we found out is powertrain again came on. the engine never dies, in fact it seems to rev at times but the gas peddle has no control of the vehicle. i am scared to drive my vehicle not only for my own safety but for all those around me. ford is not currently showing a recall for our vin # but from my research this seems to be a common problem. it seems this is a major problem that ford needs to recognize and take responsibility for. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnosis where the contact was informed that the electronic throttle body would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 55,174 and the current mileage was 55,900. updated 10/17/13*cn
While being driven on a local 45 mph street, our escape appeared to stall as if it were not getting gas. the driver was able to "baby" the car to a less busy street where the car could not increase speed more than about 15 mph. the driver then turned off the engine for a few minutes. the engine was restarted and car speed was able to increase to 45 mph. we then drove the car to a local ford dealership where it was repaired by replacement of the throttle body a couple of days later. we asked if it could be anything other than the throttle body but were informed by the dealership that it was typical of a ford 2010 escape to have the throttle body replaced with mileage close to that of our car. *tr
Vehicle stalled upon acceleration from stop, and lost all throttle function. surges at idle, and intermittently stalls. throttle failed the next day at highway speed. same symptoms as the failed throttle body sensor issue that was fixed by october 2009, but my escape was built in december '09 after the problem was supposedly fixed. *tr
I was driving down the road when my gas pedal stopped working and my car would not accelerate. after turning the car off and back on, the problem recurred four times before i finally called a tow truck. the repair shop diagnosed the problem as the throttle body stuck in an open position. the part is now on national back order. it is an expensive and, due to the back order, long repair. *tr
P2111 code (throttle body stuck open); accelerator pedal stops working; vehicle goes into a limp home mode. cycle the ignition key and everything starts working again. problem keeps repeating itself. suspect the throttle body is malfunctioning. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle lost acceleration power while driving at various speeds. the wrench warning icon illuminated after the failure occurred. the vehicle resumed normal function after the engine was turned off for a moment. the vehicle was taken to the local mechanic where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the throttle body. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 48,000.
In august rush-hour morning traffic at approximately 60mph the vehicle suddenly without warning went into 'limp mode', the engine rpm decreased to under 1000rpm and i was able to fight thru several lanes of traffic while coasting the vehicle to the side of the road. no throttle inputs affected the engine, it remained under 1000rpm and ran very rough as if it was going to stall. i shut the car completely off, waited a minute, then restarted the engine and was able to continue to the workplace. two days later on a short trip to a restaurant, the engine again went into 'limp mode'. i shutoff the vehicle and restarted and continued on my way. about 1/4 mile later the engine went into 'limp mode' again. the vehicle would go into 'limp mode' after every 1/4 - 1/2 mile for a total of 4 times on the short trip. i then took the vehicle to the dealership, where it is now. this 2010 ford escape has 86k miles. the dealership says it is a bad throttle body. i called ford customer relations and they will not do anything to help because of the mileage and no recall has been issued due to nhtsa action number: pe13003 as of yet (still in investigation since february). i cannot safely drive this vehicle. *tr
I was driving on highway 680 in stop n go traffic. i put my foot on gas to go, but my car just wouldn't go. i tried to accelerate, but nothing happened. i quickly pulled over in the shoulder on the right side. the car started shaking. i put my car in parking mode and turned off the engine. i restarted it again, and it worked. so, i went into the oncoming traffic to get back on the highway. after about a mile further in stop n go traffic, my car did the same exact thing. it stopped working, and started shaking when i pulled over to the shoulder. i turned off the engine again. i wasn't feeling comfortable with driving my car since same thing happened twice. so, i had to call the tow company and had it towed to my home. *tr
While driving with cruise control set, 60mph on i-64 @ i-170 the vehicle stopped forward motion. it coasted to a stop but the engine did not stop. the accelerator did not work and the rpm stayed between 750 and 1000. the ignition was tuned off then back on in about 2 minutes and the accelerator worked. ford dealer replaced the throttle body unit. *tr
