Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2010 Ford Escape

On july 14 2013, my vehicle 2010 ford escape xlt stalled in the middle of the highway. the vehicle was traveling at 60 mph when the incident occurred. after the stall, the vehicle did not respond to gas pedal. it slowed down. i was able to pull the vehicle to safety lane. during the incident, the wrench sign appeared on the dashboard indicator. after the vehicle came to complete stop, i was able to restart the vehicle. i drove the vehicle to the dealership service center at reduced speed of 25 mph. they diagnosed that the issue is with the throttle body and mentioned that the whole throttle body needs to be replaced. *tr

I was driving at 50mph and next thing i know is my whole car was shaking it was a 2010 ford escape and i checked the dash and the orange wrench light is on. i tried to step on the gas pedal so i can find a place to pull over but i don't have any power on my gas pedal it just wont accelerate. *tr

While driving approximately 70 mph on highway, veh lost power, no acceleration, wrench symbol and check engine light came on, had to coast off to the side of the highway. turned key off and let sit a couple minutes, restarted and was ok, but intermittently problem recurred until unable to drive more than a few miles between occurrences. diagnosis was a faulty throttle body. replaced throttle body and no problems since. *tr

My 17 year old daughter has had two occurrences of the vehicle losing all power within the last two days (7/10/2013 and 7/11/2013). once she was starting from a red light and the other she was driving down the road. both times she was able to pull off to the side of the road and start the car and continue travel. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle became resistant to acceleration attempts over 10 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for repairs. the manufacturer was notified about the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000. updated 08/27/13*lj the dealer replaced the throttle body. updated 08/29/13

While accelerating slowly from a stop, the car went about 30 feet and then stalled. after pulling over, and restarting the car, i arrived at my destination without incident, about 8 miles. 2 days later, the same incident occurred after stopping at a red light. the north carolina consumers council investigation is the same incident as my vehicle. *tr

My daughter was driving my 2010 for escape at approximately 40 mph. as she was slowing down for a red light, it turned green. however, as she tried to press on the gas to continue accelerating, there was absolutely no rpms. and, as she pressed on the gas, the car made a constant lunging motion. we switched positions, and i was able to babystep my way to an empty parking lot to wait for the tow truck to take it to the shop for repair. not even talking to them about the issue, i see now that this is a defect in 2009 and 2010 for escapes. there are pages and pages of the same complaint out there online. with 6000 of these on a national back order, this absolutely should make the national recall list!!! *tr

I was exiting the main highway and on a long off ramp when i experienced the car not allowing any acceleration whatsoever. fortunately, there were no cars and i was able to pull over on the shoulder. i turned off the car to make a phone call. the light on the dashboard was on. when i turned the car back on again - i was able to resume accelerating. the next day i took the car into a ford dealership where they said it was the throttle body that needed to be replaced. it was not included in the powertrain warranty. *js

I was driving my 2010 ford escape at about 65 miles per hour on the new jersey turnpike when all of a sudden the wrench light came on and i lost power in the engine. i was in the middle lane of a 4 lane highway and had to get over to the shoulder. the engine never shut off but would not go over 5 mph. i shut the engine down and restarted the car and everything was fine. i had 70 miles to go so i decided to try to drive on and everything was fine for 40 miles when it did it again. i got over to the shoulder, shut the engine off and restarted and was able to make it to my destination. i have an appointment to take the car to a ford dealership to get it fixed on thursday. the dealership told me that they were familiar with this issue and that the throttle control need to be replaced. i have looked online and have seen hundreds and hundreds of posts from owners that are having the same issue. what gives. if ford know about this, shouldn't they take care of it! *tr

When driving i loss all acceleration. the acceleration pedal has no effect while depressing. a red wrench icon illuminates on the far left end of the display console. once in awhile the engine light would illuminate. the owners manual icon description reads "throttle control/power train. this occurs unexpectedly on several occasions. i activate the hazard lights and pull over to the roadside. the suv will shake, but will not shutoff. i will shutoff the suv and then would have no problem restarting. *tr

Car shifted hard then stalled out. the wrench light came on the dash. when car was re started as it would flood ran for a day fine then the instances became more frequent . *tr

While entering the highway from an inclined on-ramp, acceleration began to decrease even as the gas pedal was being pressed. i was able to coast to the shoulder, stop the engine and restart. the vehicle appeared to have returned to normal function. after traveling about 25 miles on the highway, the vehicle began to lose acceleration as i tried to increase speed to change lanes. the gas pedal was pressed to the floor of the car with no results. as i pressed the pedal the maintenance light and engine light lit up on the dashboard. i was able to get to an exit ramp and coasted to a safe stop. there was no previous warning from the dashboard indicators that there was trouble. i was notified by the dealership, that the throttle body assembly had failed. *tr

I was driving 55mph and the escape suddenly lost power, decelerating and coming to a stop. the powertrain light came on and the vehicle had a difficult time turning over. the vehicle was taken to a dealership where nothing was found. the incident then occurred again a week later at the same speed. this time the check engine light and oil pressure light came on as well. the vehicle would only start in neutral and then it was taken to the stop. this time it was determined that the throttle body sensor needed to be replaced. *tr

I was driving with my 7 week old son and 3 year old daughter. i pulled up to a red light and stopped. when the light turned green i pressed the gas to go. my vehicle surged forward into the intersection and then only slowly moved. there was power to the car, lights, music, and air were working but my car was only slowly moving and shaking. it was as if no gas was getting to the engine. i had to pull over onto the right lane, because the road had no shoulder. the sound and feeling the car was making made me feel like i needed to drive with my foot on the brake and the gas at the same time. there was no warning signs that there was anything wrong with my car, it just all of a sudden stopped. it was the worst feeling ever being stuck on a busy road with no shoulder to pull over onto and having my 2 babies in the car with me, as cars come driving up and having to switch lanes or slam on their brakes to avoid me. *tr

The escape engine stopped providing power and the accelerator stopped responding. the car engine went to idle. after pulling over shutting car off then on again the engine began responding. this happened about 10 times before getting the car to a service dealer. the problem was identified as a failed throttle body. the dealer indicated that these parts are on a 10 day back-order due to so many vehicles having the same failure and parts are not available due to surge in demand. *tr

I was going around a bend to enter a highway when my car "stuttered" and stopped running. i saw the powertrain light come on before it stopped. i put my hazards on and sat there for a few minutes. i was afraid of somebody coming around the bend behind me and not realizing i am stuck. i tried to restart it and it fortunately it did. there was no indication that the car was just going to abruptly come to a stop. i was lucky to not be on the highway. i was able to drive it home but the next day it didn't start at all. i brought it to my ford dealer who told me it was a problem with a throttle body and that they have had several problems with them. *tr

On july 4, 2013 i was driving my 2010 ford escape on i-235 south in oklahoma city at approximately 70 mph when the forward momentum of the vehicle dropped out and it began to decelerate. i attempted to continue forward momentum by applying pressure to the accelerator but with no response from the vehicle. i coasted the vehicle across lanes of traffic to the shoulder of the highway. once stopped i placed the vehicle in park and the engine was sputtering and losing rpms. i identified the power train (wrench light) on control console was lite at which i observed the vehicle. i applied pressure to the accelerator to increase rpms at which no success was noted at that point i cut the power to the vehicle. i allowed the vehicle to sit for 5 minutes and then restarted the engine with some sputtering. at that point i applied pressure to the accelerator and immediately the rpms increased and the vehicle returned to operating normally. similar action repeated on aug. 13, 2013 x 4 times on the same highway: once during morning traffic traveling at approximately 60 mph and then three times during evening rush hour traffic traveling 20-40 mph. problem was identified as malfunctioning throttle body by ford dealership mechanic. failure acted during high traffic situations which could lead to a potential accident or injury to operator and surrounding motorists. upon further research it has come to my attention that there are multiple failures of throttle bodies in 2010 ford escapes which had to be replaced at the owner's cost and ford has not issued a recall for this defective component. *tr

Was driving on the 101 in phoenix arizona and the car started jerking. luckily i was close to an exit so i got off. i turned off the car, restarted it, and started to drive. i drove about 100 feet and it stalled. i was able to restart the car and drive it a half mile to a gas station. however, the car was jerking the whole time. the official word was that the throttle was the issue. *tr

I was driving on i35 e in lewisville, tx when the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating, i had been traveling at approx 40 mph in rush hour traffic. the vehicle/engine was still on but i could not continue forward. i exited the highway and glided into a parking lot ( after nearling being killed by a large truck on the service road) the wrench light came on as well as the engine light. i pulled into a parking space and the vehicle started to violently shake. i put in park and turned the vehicle off. i waited a few minutes and started the vehicle with no issues. the vehicle idled fine and i could rev up the engine. i drove around the parking lot with no issues however the check engine light was still on. i tried going onto a residential street and when i accelerated above 20mph the vehicle would no longer accelerate and had to pull over and had the same before mentioned results. i called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed. i called a local ford dealership and i was advised it was most likely an electronic throttle body issue and they have them come in all the time. this needs to be recalled immediately as this very well could have cause a major accident. *tr

While driving my vehicle lost acceleration and then began to shake the wrench and engine lights came on. recently went to a shop and the issue is because of a part called throttle body. *tr

July 2, 2013, i just pulled out of my garage, came to a stop sign, made a complete stop, proceeded to go forward, had my foot on the accelerator, rpm gauge started going up and down, the wrench light came on, the vehicle started to slow down even though i had my foot on the accelerator, i pulled to the side of the road, the vehicle just stopped and then started to shake, i turned off the vehicle. i waited a few minutes then i started the vehicle again and everything was fine. i went to the ford dealership because the vehicle is still under warranty, they first told me that the computer chip needed to be updated. august 2, 2013, i was driving for about 30 minutes going at 55 mph, the rpm gauge started going up and down, the wrench light came on and i could feel the vehicle lose power even though my foot was on the accelerator, the vehicle went from 55 mph to 20mph within a minute, i pulled over to the side of the road as the vehicle started to shake, turned off the vehicle and waited a few minutes, restarted the vehicle and everything was fine. call the ford dealership and dropped my vehicle off for inspection again, they called me and told me that it was the throttle body valve that sticks and that ford is aware of the problem. the ford dealership is unable to get the part because its on back order, i have to wait 2 to 3 months for this part. august 9, 2013, i was at a stop sign, i proceeded to go forward while pressing on the accelerator, the vehicle lost power, the wrench light came on and i again was unable to accelerate, i pulled to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, waited a few minutes and it started again. *tr

Getting onto the expressway at about 55mph when the cars engine light came on. shortly after the wrench light came on the car thudded forward and lost power. very scary, easily could have caused an accident. we were able to start the car immediately after and start going but the car wouldn't make it a mile before losing power again. next day took it to the dealership to find the part was on back order and it may be weeks before the dealer can get it in. a couple weeks and $525 later we are not happy campers. this should be a safety recall. *tr

My wife driving the suv in city traffic .the car died ,wife then pulled into a parking lot .the car check engine light and transmission light were on . she called a local tow truck to tow car to local ford dealership. dealership said it was the cars throttle body malfunction that caused the engine to stop. i think this should be a safety recall on fords part. *tr

A "wrench" symbol came on in the instrument panel. checked the manual. took the 2010 ford escape to waconia ford dealership where it was purchased new. diagnostics came back as transmission problem with 5th gear. options were repair at approximate $2750-3000 / 1 yr warranty or new/rebuilt at approximate $4500 / 3 yrs warranty the original warranty was for 60,000 miles the vehicle has around 62,500 miles chose not to extend the warranty. yup, broke after about 2,500 miles after warranty expired. dealership stated nothing they could do - i understand as they are the dealer not the manufacturer. opted to have new/rebuilt done by waconia ford dealership. i believe it is a ford company problem and the company/manufacturer should take responsibility for its repair - at least to some degree with only about 2,500 miles after warranty expiration. *tr

Accelerated to merge into traffic and my 2010 ford escape started to act like it was going to stall when i pressed on the gas pedal. ever time i tried to accelerate it felt like it was "choking" and wanted to stall. i had to put the vehicle in neutral and press on the gas to keep it from stalling. i had my vehicle towed to the dealership and was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. in addition to the fact the throttle body needs to be replaced i am now being told there is a nationwide back order on the part and i will not get the repair completed for 2-3 weeks. i am 1-1/2 months passed warranty with only 26,000 miles and neither ford nor the dealership will loan me a vehicle while my car sits at the dealership nor will this even be considered warranty work. *tr

2010 ford escape v6 awd - built june 14, 2010 while driving on major local road, vehicle lost almost all power. "wrench" (throttle control/powertrain warning) light came on. vehicle slowed to a roll with gas pedal providing no acceleration. after coming to a stop vehicle would only accelerate to between 2-4 mph. vehicle was able to be driven to dealer about a mile away after sitting on shoulder for 15-20 minutes. dealership diagnosed problem as a failed throttle body and replaced under warranty with a deductible charge. this would have been a dangerous situation had the vehicle been merging, etc. at the time. *tr

While traveling at approximately 45mph, without any warning the vehicle lost complete power and stalled in the middle of the road. i was able to restart, drive approximately 50 feet with the same results. a wrench symbol appeared. called a wrecker and had the vehicle towed to my dealership service department. was informed by the service rep that they needed to replace the throttle body but did not have the part available. nine days later today i have no answers, explanations, or transportation, *tr

Ford escape approx 40,000 miles. traveling 50 mph when car lost all acceleration power. engine still running, had to coast off of the highway. dash board emblem was the wrench - referred to owners manual which indicated a problem with the power train or throttle. turned engine off, restarted the car and succesfully traveled the 6 miles to my house. same evening attempted to drive car to the dealership - 10 miles away....got 1 mile down the highway, car lurched, acceleration lost, engine still running, coasted to side of road, turned of ignition, restarted and successfully drove the mile back to my house. had car towed on the following day. electronic throttle body replaced....under extended warranty with $200 deductible. *tr

As i was traveling down the road and was slowing down the vehicle suddenly acted like transmission kicked into neutral but when i looked down i saw open wrench symbol in cluster lit up and rpm was at idle and would not respond to throttle being applied and engine was running awful. i had to pull off onto shoulder and cut ignition off and restart vehicle but was only able to make it a bout a 100 yds. when it happened again. we caught a ride home and i came back with my scanner and drove it down the highway and it did it again at 55 mph. so i pulled off the road and scanned for codes and it had pending code p2111- throttle actuator control system stuck open. i purchased new throttle body and installed myself at a cost of 171.68 less tax. not covered by powertrain warranty. car operates fine so far. 2010 ford escape 3.0liter v-6 with 55 thousand miles. *tr

This has happened several times now. driving and all of a sudden my car has no power. no matter how hard the gas pedal is being pushed the car will not move. i have to try to pull over to the side of the road without getting hit. then i can turn the car off and turn back on and it works decent. the first time it happened i was in the middle of an intersection and could not go anywhere. the last time it happened i was on the freeway. this is a huge problem that needs to be fixed. *tr

Escape sputtered & stalled. restarted & was serviced by ford to 'clean' the throttle body. within a few days, it exhibited the same behavior but much more frequent rendering the car unreliable. replacement parts are not available from the dealer for another 3-4 weeks. *tr

We were driving approximately 60mph on the highway when we suddenly had no more acceleration. the car was still running but when i pressed the gas pedal it didn't give us any go and we started decelerating in the middle of the highway. thankfully, we were able to quickly pull over to the side of the road to avoid being rear-ended. we turned the truck off, waiting a minute or two and started it back up and had acceleration again for a few miles. this happened over and over again for the remaining 8 or so miles to our house where we were finally able to pull up in front of our house and called our local ford dealer to have the truck towed to their shop. we're still waiting to hear what they found out but from my research i just did on the internet it appears this is a very common and serious problem for many ford escape owners. *tr

Car stuttering then shutting off while driving. dealership said that it is the throttle body assembly. this is a known problem with many vehicles. so common that the part is on back order for over a week. *tr

Leaving home check engine light and throttle lights came on and the vehicle was jerking and would allow me to give it any gas. *tr

Driving at highway speed when accelerate failed to engage. truck was no longer able to accelerate. in other cases when applying breaks care seemed to be trying to accelerate..eventually check engine light came on. diagnosed as failure of throttle body. *tr

At a stop light, light turned green got up to about 10mph and the vehicle just lost power...still at an idle in morning traffic almost hit by two cars. this is ridiculous if all of these people are having the same issue then why wont a recall be issued? i am a single working parent of three and $600 to shell out to fix a problem that ford knows is an issue? how will i be compensated after the fact because i know sooner or later ford will have to stop pushing all of us off. *tr

I was driving down the street and about to enter the beltway and i stopped because it was a red light. i pressed the gas as the light turned green and my car felt like it was about to cut off. this wrench symbol showed up on the instrument panel and then my car started acting funny. i had to cut my car off in the middle of the road and was almost hit by cars entering the beltway. i was deathly afraid. i have 2 small grandchildren and i will not put them in harms way. unfortunately my car has been doing this for the past month. i am afraid to drive my car. i have taken it in for repair and the part i need to fix it is on back order. i have been paying for a rental out of pocket. *tr

Driving my vehicle on a residential street i began to lose power to the gas pedal. my 2010 ford escape began to act as though it would stall however all i could do was coast to a side street to get out of the way of traffic behind me. once in park i noticed the wrench light come on my dashboard. i shut the truck off and restarted to which the light indicator went away and the vehicle acted fine. i had the truck towed to my local dealership where i was told it was the throttle body that needs to be replaced. this part is on national backorder! i will be without my vehicle for possible 30 business days. ford will only give me a rental for 4 days! why is this not a recall yet? i thank god i was not on the highway with my two small children in the car with me. this is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed appropriately by ford. *tr

Driving this morning at 30 miles per hour and i feel my 2010 escape lose power no response when pushing the accelerator. wrench engine light comes on and i put my car in neutral and press the accelerator but nothing happens. engine never appeared to die it felt like it was still running just was not responding. i turned off the escape and turned it back on with no problems. this has happened several times in the past but recently got a new battery which it had felt like it fixed the problem because the escape no longer was sluggish when driving or changing gears with a jerk like it had in the past. battery is only a month old and oil change was done at the same time. i have researched and there are currently 231 complaints that have been reported on power train failure and every story sounds just like mine. this is a huge safety risk since the car no longer responds while driving. please consider recall. *tr

Drove about an hour away from home, mostly highway. when i got into the city towards the end of the trip, the wrench light came on and the car stopped accelerating. i pulled over and restarted the car and was able to go a few hundred feet before i lost acceleration again. this time the check engine light came on. i pulled over, waited about 10 minutes, restarted the car, and was able to drive the rest of the way (less than a mile). the car was towed to the nearest dealer where it was determined the throttle body needed to be replaced. i am currently on a long waiting list for parts. *tr

My 2010 ford escape limited has completely lost power when driving on four different occasions. the vehicle will be running find and then you suddenly lose all power. i took the vehicle to my local dealer and they informed me that it was a problem with the electronic throttle body. they also informed me that they did not have the replacement part and were unsure of when they could get it. i find it very dangerous driving a vehicle that could suddenly lose power at anytime. although i believe ford should have to replace these defective parts, ford could at least be responsible enough to have these parts so that i could at least pay to have my vehicle fixed. *tr

I lost all acceleration in my escape when i drove forward from a complete stop. i thought the engine had died, but it actually was surging. i was able to drive about 1 1/2 miles home at a speed of no more than 10 mph. the vehicle is at the ford dealer, who advised that the throttle body needs to be replaced. the back order time for this part is up to a week, so i am forced to rent a car in the meantime. i hope this now massive problem (i have been investigating) leads to an immediate recall. my situation could have resulted in a serious or fatal accident, as i was crossing a major highway as the failure occurred. *tr

On saturday, june 22, 2013, i drove 2.5 hours north for one of my best friends weddings. i was on the interstate with cruise control set at about 70 mph when suddenly my car lost power. i was in the left lane with a semi behind me. luckily the semi driver was paying attention and was able to move into the right lane before rear-ending me. i was able to move on the shoulder of the interstate and come to a stop. as i did, my escape acted as though it was going to die but did not completely. i noticed an open-ended wrench in the bottom left of my instrument panel and my check engine light was on. i turned the car off and looked through the manual to figure out what the wrench light meant. it said throttle control/powertrain. i was running late to begin with so i started freaking out. i turned my escape back on and everything seemed to be fine. both lights went off so i put it in drive and got back on the interstate without any more problems. at first i thought maybe it was cruise control going out so i didn't use it the rest of the way. once i got off the interstate, i stopped at a light and when the light changed i proceeded through it with my escape stalling as soon as i turned, along with both lights back on. i knew it was something other than the cruise. once i got to the nearest town, i stopped at autozone and had them test it. their computer showed tps/throttle body failure. i immediately started doing some research to find this part since autozone doesn't carry it. i was surprised to find out that no one can get this part and ford has been on back order for quite a few months. after the wedding, i drove back home with my car stalling many more times. since then, it happens at least once a day, if not more. twice, my car has stalled in the middle of a very busy highway intersection on my way to work, freaking me out i was going to get hit. help needed soon! *tr

Driving normal hwy speeds, throttle shuts down. wrench indicator lights. have to try to get off of hwy on to shoulder. when stopped, engine still runs but very rough and the throttle does nothing. after turning the engine off the problem resets and runs fine for approx 20 miles or more. then the same thing happens again. the problem then progressively gets worse. have read that this is a huge issue and needs t be addressed before someone gets injured or killed. *tr

My ford escape without any warning suddenly stalled on a major highway. i luckily was able to coast to the shoulder of the road. the throttle control/power train failure warning light on the instrumentation panel came. i was able to restart the escape, but it continues to stall repeatedly. thus i am not able to drive my escape. my auto mechanic indicated this is a known ford issue and the replacement part is on back order due to the number of ford escape owners as experiencing this issue. *tr

Car showed no previous sign of damage. the vehicle has had regular oil changes and a replaced battery in november 2012. at the time of the incident, i had 3/4 tank of quality exxonmobil gasoline. drove 10 minutes to ramp without issue/light. accelerating on ramp, the wrench and battery lights came on. this was rush hour traffic in downtown houston. it was extremely dangerous. tried to restart car and managed to drive to shoulder. vehicle was towed. shop said that the throttle had to be replaced. the vehicle was still under warranty. *tr

Was sitting at light on a friday night taking a turn when the light turned green it started to die then got it out of the middle of the intersection turned it off and turned it back on and it was fine. took it in to ford sheehy that saturday after it happened wrote the complaint and they said they know what it is and cleaned the throttlebody but there wasn't much more that they could do than that and it was drivable now. well, this month of july 2013 july 10 i had my son in the car with me going 45 it went to 3 mph in 2 seconds in the middle traffic and the little wrench light came one was able to pull to the side of the road and restarted the car, it seemed fine then went exactly 4 feet and it did it again and the wrench light came on pulled to the side this time when i restarted the check engine light came on did this 5 miles the whole time trying to get home. the next morning check engine was off so thought it was good to go drove it on the highway at 65 miles per hour and got off and the engine went from 40 down to 3 mph with in 2 seconds and got the wrench again, got it started and into work garage and parked it for the day. thought okay it should be fine to drive it back 26 miles home was going 65 and the car went down to 3 mph on the highway was able to pull coast off as i was coasting it died wrench light came on again. today coming into work i got 3 miles from home and it repeated the process of 40 down to 3 wrench light on, got it going got to work and 2 blocks from work it repeated the process of 40 down to 3 been sitting all day. each time i get p2112. this has gotten to be too dangerous for me to drive this car with anyone in it and including myself during rush hour. this has become a daily occurrence. *tr

Problem occurred several times and appears to be more frequent. the first time it occurred i was driving 55 miles per hour and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the gas pedal did nothing, the car did not accelerate. i had to pull over and shut the car off. when i started the car beck up it hesitated, the check engine light turned off, and worked fine. the same thing happened approximately 2 weeks later. now i noticed that the rpm gauge fluctuates quite a bit when i start the car and then again when i am stopped at a traffic light. today, i was driving with no problem and stopped because the car in front me was stopped to make a turn. when i tried to continue driving, my car stalled and i had to turn it off and then back on. there were a line of cars behind me and i was almost rear-ended. *tr

Driving on the highway during rush hour and a wrench light on the dash came on. i had no gas power i could not give the car any gas and i had to coast through traffic to a stop. the car shut off and would not restart, i waited for a few minutes and was able to restart. the light was no longer illuminated on the dash and i was able to give the car gas again so i tried to continue my commute but it happened again within a few miles. this continued 3 more times before i had to call a tow truck to have the car towed to the shop. *tr

Driving my 2010 ford escape xlt on sr 58 the vehicle began to shake, could not accelerate and the car immediately slowed down to about 3-5mph. i coasted to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. this was a very scary situation. other vehicles were driving past & beeping, not knowing what was happening. the could have created a dangerous situation. luckily i focused, went to the side of the road to prevent any accidents. after about 30 minutes, started the vehicle and slowly drove approximately one mile down the road the a ford dealership. again while driving, the vehicle started to shake and i could not accelerate. the ford service dept performed a diagnostic test. the result was a failed throttle body. the service technician said the vehicle was unsafe to drive. and said the ford parts to fix the vehicle are on a national backorder for 2-3 weeks. unfortunately, i have to rent a vehicle, very expensive. ford did not offer a loaner vehicle. ford needs to have a recall on this part and correct their mistake before multiple fatalities occur. all ford escape owners will soon fall victim to this hazard. *tr
