Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2010 Ford Escape

We were riding on interstate 40 traveling at about 75mph. my 18 year old son was driving. the vehicle suddenly lost power. we had to pull to the side of the interstate. luckily there was not any traffic or transfer trucks directly behind us. without warning, the vehicle lost power and the 'wrench light' came on. we immediately dropped down to about 40 mph. we sat beside of the interstate and called my husband to come to where we were. we did not attempt to crank the vehicle while waiting for him because we did not know what was wrong and feared causing further damage (i was not familiar with the throttle/powertrain light warning). when my husband got there, we cranked the vehicle and i drove us home without incident. i was afraid to allow my son to drive it because i feared the same thing would happen again. i hate to think what could have happened had there been another car or a transfer truck behind us. due to the fact that we lost power without warning and so suddenly, i feel that if there had been a transfer truck directly behind us it would not have had time to stop or slow down and it would have hit us. thankfully, we are scared, but fine this time. we are now afraid to drive my 2010 ford escape on any interstate or in any fast moving traffic. *tr

While traveling at highway speed car lost all power. i was able to slow to a safe stop. dealer tells me its the electronic body. i find out that another area dealer has replaced 96 of these this year alone. this sounds like a problem ford needs to take care of. the kicker is that its not covered by my warranty. *tr

Vehicle begins to loose power/ stall. the "wrench" light illuminates on the dash. after pulling over and restarting, it will go another 5 - 10 miles and it does it again. after 2 - 3 times it will throw the "check engine" light (code p2112). we checked/ cleaned the throttle body and cleared the code. car ran ok for about 3 days (50 miles), and it happened again. we are looking into hiring an attorney as ford does not want to help cover the cost to repair this defect. i have two young children that ride in this car, and uncontrolled stalling and sputtering is dangerous on busy streets. twice, this happened in the middle of an intersection, and at one time, it completely died going 40 mph, and the power steering quit, causing me to almost head into oncoming traffic. please help us and others with this issue, before someone is seriously injured or loses their life. *tr

After the april 30, 2013 (54,367miles) incident, the vehicle was repaired by the ford dealer and on aug 4th (58,700+/- miles), the same symptoms appeared while driving on open freeway 65 mph with rolling hills. the vehicle experienced a power drop and surge with automatic transmission gear shifting. a warning light--mechanic wrench turned on and then there was a different engine/transmission sound and it would not shift out of gear by itself so we put it into neutral and rolled to a stop. the car was towed approx 70miles to the same ford dealer near our home. we are waiting for the service dept to return our calls and provide the detail technical information of fault codes etc and how they plan to repair it again. same condition, appears to be an engineering design or manufacturing defect of specific components, (throttle body, transmission). *tr

We had just turned onto our street, started to proceed up the hill at about 35-40 mph. car suddenly went unresponsive. wrench light indicator lit up on dashboard. started to idle very hard, then surge, then low idle, then surge rpm. no gas pedal response at all. luckily we had just got off the highway, and were close to home. however, we were going uphill. we had just enough momentum to get over the hill and coast down to our driveway. upon putting the car in park in our driveway, the rpm's were fluctuating from almost 0, then shooting back up to over 2500. from wanting to stall, to wanting to race ahead. in researching, i have seen this described as a faulty electronic throttle body, which apparently has affected over 725,000 of these vehicles and still without recall. this is insane and highly dangerous if you are traveling in heavy traffic or on the highway as you have no control over the vehicle just wanting to stop dead. we were lucky in that we were already off of the interstate and close to home. please, please investigate this issue further! our normal warranty has just expired of course, and they say this is not covered by the powertrain warranty. great, we have to pay not only for the car, but for it's defects as well. we don't just have an extra $500.00 laying around to repair this! this should be a recall. *tr

While sitting at a stop light my vehicle seemed to lose power and the wrench light came on. i limped my car to a parking lot and once shut down and restarted it seemed fine. it worked fine for 3-4 days and it occurred twice on my way to work while traveling approximately 35 mph. once again the wrench light came on and once shut down and started fine. the second time the check engine light also came on. i brought my vehicle to a mechanic i know and trust and said the code that came up was p2111 and i would need to bring it to the dealer for repair. *tr

Driving down the highway, my car suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and i could no longer continue down the road. i pulled over and my car was running extremely rough. it almost felt like the car was bucking due to a novice driving a manual transmission - note that this was when i was parked as well as when i was decelerating. i noticed the orange wrench lit up on my dash and got a tow to the nearest dealership. the dealership called me and let me know it was a throttle body issue and it has been replaced. my car only had 48k on it and there is no way in my opinion that this should happen. i feel like i'm having money stolen from my wallet due to the fact ford is fully aware of the problem but is not taking proactive steps to fix it. *tr

Vehicle was traveling on highway when the vehicle shook and started to stall and shut off at 55 mph. the vehicle slowed down and the engine light and wrench light illuminated. vehicle was shuttering and slowing down with the engine cutting out. i immediately attempted to get off the road in order to not have a rear end accident with any speeding vehicles traveling behind the car. once car was shut off, vehicle had a clicking noise when turning the car over to start, then restarted to a normal condition. at 45 mph on a city street, 3 days later the same stall and engine cut out occurred. *tr

My husband and i were driving from downtown columbus back to our home and we were in between multiple cars on the freeway. while going 65 mph the vehicle began to slightly jerk and loose speed. the vehicles around us and behind us were attempting to avoid crashing into us. we about half a mile from the nearest exit and by the time we made it to the ramp we were only going 35 mph. there was no where to safely pull over on the freeway due to ongoing construction. it was extremely dangerous and i felt as though we could have been in a potentially deadly accident. throughout this ordeal the throttle control/powertrain light was on. once we got off on the nearest exit we were forced to come to a complete stop. we obviously could not use the gas to go forward and it was scary because we had traffic behind us. we turned the vehicle completely off and restarted it right there on the exit ramp and to our surprise the vehicle started up and the light was off. after reading how many people have had this same incident occur to them while driving this vehicle i am shocked that there has not been a recall. does someone have to die before someone does something about this? what if my 2 year old had been in the vehicle on the freeway and someone hit us because we were unable to avoid a crash? now i know that i should not be driving this vehicle because it appears that this will continue from what i have read and i am supposed to give money to ford to fix a problem that is not my fault... *shaking my head*, someone needs to do something about this. *tr

Car shut down while i was driving. the power train light came up. turn it off then back on and it was fine. took it to the dealer the charged $109 just for inspection and want $560 for repair and labor. *tr

I was driving on i-64 westbound in the far left hov lane in newport news, virginia around 4:30 p.m. on august 2 during rush hour when my 2010 ford escape, which was on cruise control set at 60 mph, suddenly stopped accelerating. i pressed the pedal and it continued to decelerate and started to shake. i put on my emergency flashers. my husband and i almost got hit numerous times by cars traveling at speeds of up to 65 miles per hour, as i was forced to cross four lanes of speeding traffic to reach the right shoulder. i feared that had my car stopped before reaching the shoulder, another car would have easily slammed into the rear of my vehicle, causing major bodily harm or death. after numerous near-collisions, i made it safely to the right shoulder. at that point, my heart was racing and my hands were trembling. my husband and i could have been killed!!! my car is now sitting at the ford dealership with no estimated time of repair. i depend upon my automobile for transportation to and from work, as well as other places. please help me. *tr

When driving a wrench light came on and i had no power to the acceleration pedal but the engine never stalled causing the car to coast to the side of the road. the problem was the throttle body. happened more then one time last time was at 59000 miles first was around 40000 miles. *tr

This happened twice with in one week: wrench light turned on and accelerator failed to work while navigating in city traffic. was forced to pull to the side of the road while cars sped past me. once safely out of traffic i turned off the car and waited a few moments. when i turned the car back on it operated correctly. a mechanic was unable to locate any codes in the car's computer that would indicate a problem, but the car was clearly unsafe to drive. *tr

While driving on 3 lane highway (in traffic) car bucked and lost gas pedal (did nothing when pushed) i was in center lane engine went to idol with no engine control looked in mirror seen truck lights ( very scary ) when u can't do nothing luckily able to get off road . turned off engine an re started it when a short distance then same thing happened. did this 7 times in less than 7 miles luck i made it to my drive way (had towed to dealer next day) waiting for it to be fixed. this is a death waiting to happen. *tr

It, has happen various times since august, as i drive, the engine start to either misfire or no power at all, it idle normal but as soonest i step on the accelerator start the problem, has light the check engine several times and as the mechanic scans the vehicle the only code that shows is p2111, the last time that happens, have to use a towing service because can get it moving, before i used to turn the engine off, wait several seconds and started again and the situation disappears for a few days and appears back again. please advice. *tr

We were driving down the highway as a family with 4 total people in the car. the engine and motor lost total power. you could put your foot to the floor on the gas pedal and the engine would have no power and not rev up with no rpm. we almost got rear ended and blasted from behind by a semi-truck. the semi-truck had to take evasive action and if the outside lane had be blocked and he was not able to change lanes then he would of hit us as he showed his displeasure by blasting his horn at me and my family as he skated by. we had to coast over to the shoulder of the highway. once on the shoulder with cars zipping by and children scared in the car we was able to turn the vehicle off. then reset it and re-start the car and everything would be fine again for a while. the check engine light comes on but after you reset and restart the car the light goes off till the next time. this started as a random thing but has developed into a daily deal and become very dangerous in the middle of traffic. this happens daily now while driving at a speed of 25 mph plus and has no warning sign. being told it is a faulty circuit board in the throttle body by the dealership and a $500 plus deal to fix. this occurrence is risking the health, livelihood and safety of my family and kids. wear and tear maintenance on a vehicle i am ok with fixing but a factory faulty circuit board is not one of those parts and is on the liability of ford motor company as a manufacture defect.

Left work, and as started up a road, the car stalled and wrench light came on. luckily no one was behind me as i would have been rear-ended i pulled over, restarted car, looked up light, proceeded. it stalled two more times before i got home (driving in the right hand lane so could get out of moving traffic quickly , the third time the engine light came on. getting it to the dealer the car stalled again. i reported the problem to the dealer, who confirmed it was the throttle that needed replacing. *tr

The vehicle seems to be stalling out and has no throttle. the wrench light comes on, the cars seems to be sputtering, but there is no drive when you push on the gas pedal. so far i have been able to stop, put the car in park, shut it off and then on, and the wrench goes away and the car runs. it has happened now 4 or five times in the last 2 weeks. *tr

Vehicle was moving. the gas pedal lost control for acceleration and the car came down to an idle and it's thrusting itself forward to move. the gas pedal would not react. the yellow wrench light came on. *tr

I was driving down a local street then i was approaching a train crossing, just before crossing the tracks, my car went limp and i could no longer accelerate. i was only traveling 5-10mph so when my car stopped, part of my car was over the train tracks. i could not move my car for about a minute while i parked my car and turned everything off, including opening the car door to shut the computer off. then after resetting the car, it struggled to start up but started and drove as usual. within the last two days, my car shut down during driving 5 times and when re-starting, it did not indicate that there was a problem. finally the check engine icon turned on and i was able to take it to the dealership to check the code. it turned out that the throttle body needed replacing. my car is only 3 years old with average mileage. this could have been an terrible accident if there was a train and i was in a state of panic. *tr

I was driving when the gas pedal stopped working and would not accelerate. the engine remained running but all the car would do was coast until a i got to the side of the road and turned the engine off and back on. the car reset ran fine then did it again with cars approaching and i barely got to the side of the road before getting hit because the gas pedal would not work the engine just idled. took it to the dealership was the throttle body that needed to be replaced. luckily i did not have my daughter in the car or could have been really bad. major safety issue. *tr

While driving at highway speed, vehicle stalled, no power, we had to pull over onto the shoulder. the wrench icon was displayed. after turning off the vehicle, we were able to restart engine and travel home. the same thing happened two more times. luckily, we were able to pull over with no collision, although on two occasions, traffic was heavy. after the third incident, we made an appointment at our ford dealer service department. they diagnosed throttle body failure and replaced the throttle body at the cost of $500.00, not covered by warranty. mileage on the odometer is 55,000. why has there been no recall on this part? are you waiting for serious injury or death? this is an extremely hazardous incident waiting to happen. ford motor company and the nhtsa are obligated to protect the public and issue a recall as soon as possible. *tr

While making a right turn in my 2010 ford escape the car loss all acceleration. the next morning it happened twice more. my mechanic took the car & attached to the computer and the code p2112 appeared. he cleaned the throttle body and took a test drive. it lost acceleration 10 more times. this is a disgrace and the part must be recalled by the ford motor company! *tr

The car seem to loose power shut the car off and restart it and its ok for awhile the computer resets itself. the dealer told me the throttle body is on back order so what do i drive? *tr

While driving from michigan to missouri with daughter and granddaughter on expressway at 70 mph my vehicle had a wrench light come on dash board along with engine light. i was unable to accelerate. pulled over to side of road and turned vehicle off and then restarted and proceeded to drive. it did this repeatedly. i pulled off freeway and went to autoparts store that told me that it had to do with throttle body sensor and needed to take to dealer, which i did today. i am on vacation and car is at ford dealership in camdenton, mo. i don't know outcome yet as dealer not able to look at vehicle until tomorrow. *tr

Driving at 50 mph, engine went to idle and was unresponsive to throttle so car coasts to a stop. a warning light that looks like a wrench came on. this indicates a power train fault and a few days later the dealer diagnosed and replaced the throttle body. *tr

I was driving down the interstate heading to work when i lost all power. the vehicle did not die or stall, it lost power and the gas pedal would not work. as my speed started declining, i had to immediately turn on my emergency lights and move off the side of the road. which was hard at the time with other traffic in that lane. and the decreasing speed while i was in my lane had me nervous as other vehicles came up flying behind me. as soon as i pulled over on the side of the road, my car immediately died. i tried to turn it on after about ten minutes and the engine just rolled but would not come on. after about 25 minutes, my car started up again. i was able to get it to a dealership and they said right away that it was probably the throttle body, but that the part was on back order and would take up to a week to get in. after they checked it out, it was in fact the throttle body. i ended up lucking out because they did have a part for me. upon paying for my repair, i was told by the ford service department, that they had seen a major spike in this repair. they even said they once had 15 cars in one day that all needed the throttle body repaired. and that is why the part had originally been on back order. they also stated that they were not the only dealership noticing this spike. i was informed to keep all my paperwork because with this kind of spike, it could lead to a recall. *tr

While driving on new jersey turnpike, car lurched and no longer had any gas acceleration capability, while in four lanes of heavy traffic. carefully maneuvered into right breakdown lane and brought car to a stop. when stopped, vehicle lurched and sputtered until key was turned off. once turned back on, car started normally. the issue occurred 4 more times during the trip. this was an extreme safety issue and highly stressful to our family. *tr

I was traveling at apx 45 mph when the yellow wrench error message appeared on the dash. at the same time the vehicle ceased to respond to the gas pedal. the engine and electrical system remained on however there was no power coming from the engine. the vehicle coasted as it lost momentum. i was able to pull off the major road that i was on. the vehicle shuddered as i came to a stop and turned it off. when i restarted the vehicle, the yellow wrench error light went out and the vehicle started with no problems. the ford dealership later diagnosed the problem as the throttle body component. there had been no previous indicators of any problems. vehicle had been serviced following the manufacturers service requirements. *tr

My husband was driving out of a parking lot when all of a sudden the orange wrench light came on. the car started to decrease in acceleration even though his foot was on the gas pedal. he then applied pressure to the brakes to pull over to the side and the car pulsed to a stop. he put the car in park and shut it off. when trying to restart the car would not turn over right away, and took at least 5 seconds or more for it to start. since this issue has occurred, it has happened 7 more times in a matter of 5 days. luckily this happened while my husband was driving my car and he continues to drive it until we get it fixed. i primarily drive this car 99% of the time and i am 7 months pregnant. i can't even imagine what i would do if this happened to me on the highway or in the middle of a busy intersection. we are very lucky that no one got hurt during these instances. i can't believe ford has not done a major recall on this issue. my sister in-law had the same issues with her 2009 escape and just recently had her throttle body replaced as well. the lack of caring about its customers will definitely make me rethink about ever buying a ford again. *tr

I was driving my car, there was a noise and then a little wrench appeared on my control panel. the car started to decelerate and then i shut it down. i turned it back on, it seemed to be okay, as i drove down the road i heard the noise again and the car stayed at 40 mph. i could not accelerate. once again i stopped, turned it off. i started it back up. i called the ford dealer, they said to bring it in, they put it on the computer and said that the throttle body was bad. *tr

Around 5pm driving home on a main street during rush hour, i was driving about 35-40mph and suddenly my vehicle, an automatic transmission 2010 ford escape xlt, stopped accelerating and began to tug. also, the throttle control/power train light turned on. i turned on the emergency hazard lights and attempted to deviated to a parking lot where i turned off my vehicle. i waited a few minutes to turn it back on, and the vehicle turned on as usual. the throttle control light was no longer on. i proceeded to drive home, but it wasn't 5 miles into the trip when the vehicle malfunctioned again. a few days passed and my vehicle was working okay, however i started to notice a sluggish feel to it, as well as that it was having trouble shifting gears. today, driving home again, i was driving on the interstate about 50mph, and the vehicle unexpectedly malfunctioned. i nearly got rear ended. now both the throttle control and engine check lights turned on. i turned off my vehicle, and this time the engine check remains on. i called the ford dealership where i purchased my vehicle and was told to make an appointment. *tr

This is the second incident on vehicle, which occurred on aug.13,2013 while driving approx.35/40 m.p.h. everything was almost exactly like the first incident, except this time the check engine light stayed on until the next day when i returned it to my ford dealer for repair. the ford dealer replaced ( not for free ) the throttle body & motor asy. they said it was a loss of communication from the tps sensor inside throttle body. anyhow the car is back on the road tonight , aug 15, 2013 & seems fine. hope it stays like this. ps -- as an after thought the ford dealer couldn't have been nicer. *tr

Driving and gas pedal lost all power. pulled to side of road, engine continued to run about 700/800 rpm. i noticed the wrench symbol was lit in dashboard so i turned off a/c opened all windows & shut off engine. after about 30 seconds or so, i re-started the car & drove back home (approx. 35 miles) . the following day i took the vehicle to a ford dealer & explained my problem. dealer said this was probably a throttle control / powertrain problem. they offered me some suggestions to help with this trouble, which i have done. as of today 7/25/2013 vehicle seems to be running fine. i hope this gets resolved because i really like this vehicle. *tr

Was driving to work on local interstate @ 60mph, approx 5am (luckily very few cars on road at this hour). lost all power, no acceleration possible, but engine dial still showing <1000rpm. was able to coast to shoulder, yellow wrench symbol was lit up, turned off engine, re-started, continued to work. happened again @ about 30 mph, 15 minutes later, on city street. called ford service later that morning and scheduled to drop vehicle off next business day (had to drive it for two more days). happened several more times during all types of driving: highway, rural, city; at speeds between 25-70 mph, both with and without cruise control being used. got vehicle to dealer in afternoon. service tech called around dinner time to say the throttle body would need to be replaced. repairs made at a cost of about $450. picked vehicle up later in evening. no problems so far. this appears to be a common problem as seen/read in several forums and news reports. *tr

On july 20, 2013 i was driving my vehicle on the highway with my parents (63 & 67 respectively) when suddenly (out of the blue) i pushed the gas pedal but vehicle would not accelerate. the wrench light illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle was jerking. i had a car behind me that almost crash on me. i managed to pull over to the shoulder. i turned off the vehicle and turned it on within 2-3 minutes and it worked perfectly (as if nothing has happened). i went home that night (10:30pm more or less). i went to a local pep boys store next day since the dealers were closed (sunday). they checked it and said everything was ok. on monday, july 21, same issue happened twice within 30 minute range. i called my local dealer and made an appointment for tuesday. i've left it there for a check up. however, i was told that the warranty expired 5 months ago and the power train warranty is limited... losing power of gas and vehicle dying in the middle of the highway/road certainly seem to be a safety hazard! *tr

On july 20, 2013 going down the highway at 50mph vehicle suddenly jerks and slows down and the wrench (throttle control/power train) light comes on. while pressing gas pedal it would not accelerate it just continued to slow down. i coasted to side of the road and it starts jerking. i put car in park and turned it off. it took 2 tries to get it started, but once it started it ran like nothing was wrong. on july 26, 2013 same symptoms happened 4 times. same symptoms happened again on aug. 1, 2013 during rush hour traffic when i was sitting at a red light and when light turned green i gave it gas to go and it messed up in the middle of the intersection and i luckily made it to the side of the road! i turned it off and turned it back on (took 2 tries) and drove it home. next morning i had it towed to local ford dealership and they called me about 4 hrs later stating the throttle body needs to be replaced and it will cost just shy of $600! i was also told the part is on national back order and it may be a week before they get it. this issue happens randomly and there is no warning before it happens. this is dangerous! there needs to be a recall for this issue! *tr

While driving down the high way at approx. 65mpg the "check engine" light and the orange wrench light came on indicating an issue with the power train. at the same time the gas pedal became unresponsive while the engine rpms dropped to a rough idle the fluctuated between 800-1200 rpms. after turning the car off and then back on the "check engine" light was on but the orange wrench symbol was no longer lit. i continued to drive home, multiple times after that the wrench light came on, throttle became unresponsive and the engine dropped to a rough idle. each time this happened i turned the engine off and then turned it back on and the engine operated as normal for a time till the wrench light came on and the throttle became unresponsive. upon plugging the car to a diagnostic i had 3 error codes that indicated that the throttle actuator was stuck open. *tr

First time it happened i was coming to a stop when the car jolted forward then lost power to accelerate. the second time it happened i was driving down the road when the vehicle lost power and when i slowed to a stop the vehicle jolted forward again. i took the vehicle into the dealership after the first time and they said that the problem sounds like the throttle body and is not covered under warranty. *tr

Shifted hard in to gear while driving. loud shift sounded like transmission blew. turned off engine and back on and it drove fine for 3 days until started it up one morning and it idled really low like it was going to shut off. turned it off and back on and ran fine again for 2 days until the hard shift happened again. shop says its the throttle body and that's the one part my warranty won't cover. *tr

While driving on highway around 70mph when car went into a "limp" mode and would not accelerate. wrench light came on. after restarting the car, it performed as normal and no wrench light was lit. this has happened several times in one week at varying speeds. my ford store did not find a problem. i've also felt a surge when the accelerating the vehicle. *tr

I was driving to work and my car started to jerk. then my power train light came on and my car totally stopped on me in the middle of the road. i took it to the shop that day and the told me it was my throttle body. my warranty didn't cover it, so i had to pay over 300 dollars for a new part. *tr

Driving along 5-lane interstate at approximately 70-75 mph when my 2010 ford escape's engine essentially cut out on me. a yellow wrench light came on as well. i avoided several passing cars and semis on this very busy thoroughfare outside our nation's capital and luckily found safety on the right shoulder. after powering down the vehicle, thinking that it may be a computer error, i restarted and everything seemed find. again, no more than a couple miles down the road the same issue happened. found a ford dealer eventually and replaced the throttle body. $600 out of pocket cost for something that should be under powertrain warranty. *tr

Car is stalling while driving. sitting at dealer, waiting to have throttle body replaced. part is on back order not covered under power train warranty. *tr

Driving vehicle at appx. 40 mph when engine started to sputter, lost all power and got no response from accelerator pedal. wrench light illuminated on dashboard, indicating a "throttle/powertrain" problem. had to coast to side of road, very dangerously in rush hour traffic. turned car off, waited 15 minutes, restarted and the car worked normally for approximately 100 yards, then the exact same thing happened-- no response from accelerator, car would not go faster than 2-5 mph, had to coast to side of road. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the maintenance light. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

When driving, the wrench light would come and the engine would stall. the gas medal goes limp and you cant give it gas. i had to pull over and turn it off than back on it began to work. it has been doing it for a week and then i got a diagnostic and code p2112 came up. it said that the throttle actuator control system stuck closed. *tr

I was driving to work and all of the sudden i lost power to accelerate. the wrench came on and then the red lock icon came on. it seemed that my car went dead. i pulled over to the side of the road and turned off my car. i had to get to work so i started it back up and drove in the slow lane. i was very scared as i was in rush hour traffic. *tr

My vehicle has been running great until the last week. three times in the span of an hour drive from one location to my house my vehicle has begun to shake and then quit running. two of the three times we were driving 65mph on a busy freeway and were unable to control the vehicle, having to allow the car to idle to a stop on the shoulder. thankfully we were able to do so safely. we drove the vehicle to our dealership for inspection today and the car shook, as if ready to shut down again, the entire trip. i received a call saying the electronic throttle body needs to be replaced. i have since seen several similar safety complaints regarding the same engine part and have requested the original part be returned to me. my vehicle is only three years old and in good condition, and it is entirely unsafe for a car to unexpectedly quit running, period. *tr

I was driving about 55 mph when the wrench dashboard indicator light comes on. at the same time my gas pedal ceases to work and car speed decreases. i have to coast onto the shoulder of the road. thankfully brakes work. car is still running. i turn car off and wait a minute. turn back on. it starts. light is gone and car feels shuddery but continues running. *tr
