Problems with 2009 Ford Escape ENGINE

On average, the 2009 Ford Escape starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 74 064 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2009 Ford Escape

As i pulled out of my driveway my car appeared to stall. a wrench warning light came on and the car had very little power. it felt as if i was in neutral. i was able to pull it in front of my house and called a ford dealership who had it towed. the problem is the throttle body but the part is on back order. i was told that there are 8,000 requests for the part but it is currently not being produced so the wait could be months or longer. i was told that i would have to pick up my car and drive it as is, as a replacement car was not available. i asked if it was possible to get the part threw a different company and was advised that the part cannot be found anywhere but i may be able to get a used one from a wrecked car. when i picked up my car and drove it home it stalled twice. i did as i was advised by ford, i turned off the car, waited a few minutes and then restarted the car. this worked both times but is not a very safe way to drive. fortunately i had someone following me and we both had our hazards on as the cars behind us were not happy when i had to stop in the middle of the road. *tr

Even prior to the date indicated the car would sputter and loose power driving along but would return to normal with no codes thrown this happened 3 or 4 times ? approx. on date indicated while driving on the parkway at approx 50 mph the vehicle lost all power but was still running and would not respond to gas being pressed down or up ? car was in the speed lane with heavy traffic and almost caused a accident trying to pull vehicle off the highway ! no codes or anything were found ? this has happened several times sense with on being today on the bronx river parkway , i think this is an accident waiting to happen, please help! *tr

A week after i bought a 2009 ford escape from a used dealership, i began having problems with the suv. first the battery died, leaving me, my boyfriend and his 3 year old nephew stranded in malibu until 10pm. the next day, we replaced the battery at an auto zone. as we started to drive home, my car surges and stalls. i turn the car off and on again and continue to drive but in about 20 feet, the car surges to a stop again and the "wrench light" turned on indicating a throttle control/powertrain problem. i have my car towed to the nearest body shop and the next day they tell me they cant fix my car and that i needed to get it towed to a ford dealer. i contact the privately owned dealership where i bought my car (which is 40 mins away from my home) and they tell me they will get someone to tow my vehicle to them. a couple days later they tell me its a throttle body issue and that i needed to get it replaced. after they gave me a quote on how much repairs would cost, i told them i couldn't afford it so they tried cleaning the throttle body. after they cleaned it, they said my car was operable again but i would need to replace the throttle body as soon as i could. since then i have driven my car almost 300 miles with no problems but i am still weary that my car will stall on me again so i will definitely have the part replaced once i have the money to do so. for a week while my car was in the shop(s) i did a lot of researching on my make and model suv and i have read many complaints of people with a similar issue. what i don't understand is why the government hasn't issued a recall yet. anyway, i'm just thankful i wasn't on the freeway or a busy street when my escape decided to crap out on me. i could have been in a way worse of a situation. *tr

Vehicle throttle stuck open at 45 mph. *tr

I was on my way home from a camping trip yesterday and my vehicle suddenly stopped moving while i was on the freeway. i pulled over quickly. the engine was still running, but kept jerking forward with my foot on the brake. i turned off my vehicle and restarted it. i was able to drive for about a mile until i got up to 50 mph and then it did the same thing. i had it towed to the dealership and they said the part is on back order. the cost to repair it is $325. the vehicle is only at 74,000 miles and i have had issues with the transmission since i bought the vehicle 2 years ago. the part needed is on back order which leads me to believe ford needs to do a recall. i do not feel safe in my vehicle and will never buy a ford vehicle again. *tr

Driving in town and it just had nothing... pushed on accelerator and it would not do anything. car did not stall out, sounded like it was going to but didn't. still had all power just would not move when giving it gas. ***took to mechanic error number shows bad throttle body part*** *tr

I was leaving our local store and turned onto the access road to have my car start shaking and won't go faster than about 4 mph. right after, the powertrain symbol came on followed the engine light. with my hazard lights on i crept into the closest parking lot and turned off the car, waited a few minutes and then started it again. when turned back on the lights were all gone, so i assumed it was a fluke. until i started driving and as soon as i turned everything turned back on and the shaking happened again. i had to have my vehicle towed to the dealership. the dealership told me the it was the throttle and that the part was on back order because of so many of the escapes breaking in the same part. now its the sit and wait game for weeks! *tr

While traveling at 45 mph on a busy road, the engine stopped responding to the accelerator and began decelerating. the throttle/power-train warning light was activated. i had to pull over the the shoulder of the road to avoid being hit by other traffic. the car began jerking forward as though it was trying to accelerate on its own. i shut off the engine for a minute and once i restarted the car, the warning light was no longer illuminated. the next day (6/23/2013) i drove to my closest ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a faulty throttle body. the service advisor informed me that the part was currently backordered and that they had 15 other ford vehicles currently waiting for inventory to arrive. the cost of repair is $473. the mechanic cleaned out the carbon from my throttle body as a temporary fix until the part arrived. two days later (6/25/2013), as i was driving 55 mph, the same problem occured and i was forced to pull over and restart my vehicle. while driving back to the ford dealership the next morning to get a rental car, my car stopped responding as i was crossing train tracks (and i was able to restart the vehicle). now my car is currenly sitting at the ford dealership and i am paying an additional $33 a day for a rental car while i wait for the part to arrive (estimated to be 10-13 days). nhtsa action # dp12006. *tr

While driving to work on a residential highway without warning the vehicle engine just shutdown. the lights on the instrument panel came on and my wife was forced to coast to the side of the highway. this issue has occurred 2 times since, once in august and once on march 17th, 2014. the car has had regular servicing and at the time of the first incident the car was towed to the closest dealership for a review which was inconclusive as to the root cause. check code tested all modules with all passing. no low voltage codes or pcm codes. battery checked and all confirmed to be ok. as a potential remedy the pcm was flashed to the most current level. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer, who performed a diagnostic test but could not generate any failure codes. the vehicle was not repaired and the contact was not aware of the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 84,902.

Upon turning left through an intersection from a red light, i accelerated to reach about 30 miles per hour. then the vehicle started slowing down slightly so i pressed on the gas slightly but nothing happened. i then noticed that the lights on the dash were lit (there is a light that looks like a wrench). i turned the radio off and it seemed that the engine was not running. i was able to pull over, place the vehicle in park, and start the engine. it seemed like i had full control over steering and braking to pull over, but perhaps that was just the slow rate of speed i was at. now everything appears to be normal now, however i am concerned as i googled this issue and there seems to be many folks indicating the same problem, suspecting something to do with the throttle. this has happened twice to me. the first time about 6 months ago, with this time being the most recent. *tr

Driving again today and truck just shut off this is the second time in last two weeks is ford go to recall this problem pulled code and code number is 2112 same code as before. *tr

The car was running fine, then suddenly the engine seemed to die and the gas pedal stopped doing anything. the car then started vibrating and i had to get over to the side of the road before it lots its velocity. i restarted the car and it seemed fine; then later in the day the exact same thing happened. at other moments, sometimes while stopped, it seemed like the car revved its own engine (as if i was pressing the gas pedal, but i was not.) i could have been injured or injured someone if it was not for the fact that the road was narrow and i was able to get over to the side on time. i had it towed to the dealer, who told me the problem was the throttle body and that the throttle body was not covered under my extended warranty. *tr

P2111 error per computer - throttle actuator stuck open. vehicle will not accelerate and engine shakes violently, feels like it wants to stall, but does not. needs to be shut off and restarted to accelerate again. problem has now happened 6 times in the last 2 days. *tr

Vehicle stalled and hesitated, check engine light and wrench light illuminated and vehicle went into limp mode. pulled over and turned off vehicle when restarted lights were no longer illuminated, drove about a half mile and it happened again, repeated pulling over and restarting the vehicle, drove another 12 miles and it occurred again. *tr

Wife was coming home form work; she was in the parking, suddenly the power train light came on and the car surged then had no power, pressing gas peddle did nothing, she thought the car stalled and could not restart it. after a few minutes of waiting she started it back up and the throttle responded, so she continued to pick up our kids. once she was on the road traveling approximately 40 mph the exact same thing happened again. her father was following her, and after a few minutes of waiting, they where able to restart and continue the drive. her father drove the car the rest of the distance and, the problem happened again. fortunately in all 3 situations they where able to pull over and off the road. car has been in the shop since thursday of last week awaiting for a new electronic throttle body which apparently is on major back order. attempted to contact our ford dealer but was greeted with less then friendly customer service from the service center. car is out of warranty, and repair is going to be over $325 (quoted) if our repair shop can get the part. my wife and myself are very concerned about this as the problem happened once before several months ago, and happened on a very busy street, fortunately no one rear ended her. at that time we had ford tow the car to their service center and inspect the car, they claimed there was no problems found and no service codes, and returned the car back to us as is. *tr

Driving and engine lost power check engine light on pulled code 2112. *tr

While driving the engine suddenly would no longer respond to the gas pedal and would not accelerate. after pulling over and restarting the car, the problem went away. however, after a few days the problem happened twice more, this time with the engine completely shutting off while idling at a stop light and while driving slowly down a neighborhood street. the garage determined there to be a problem with the throttle body and it needed to be replaced. *tr

It's a throttle issue. i took it in and they read the code. it's the same thing that's happening to everyone else yet there is no recall. this happened to me about 6 mos ago as well. last night it died 7 times while trying to get home after work. this is very dangerous and needs to have a recall. this is a common issue. i'm obviously going to have to get this fixed for the safety of myself and anyone else in the car with me. i hope they take care of this soon. it can happen anywhere and regardless of the speed. you have to pull over if possible and turn it off and on again to reset it. *tr

I have been having issues with the throttle body in my 2009 ford escape. when i drive my car, it randomly stops accelerating and my car stops running. this is a big safety hazard. my car has stopped in the middle of a busy roads. cars could also easily hit me when my car randomly stops.this problem is resolved once i turn off my car and turn it back on, but it continues to happens many times. i have read many reports from other people with the same issue and something should be done about this as this problem puts people in serious danger. *tr

I accelerated from a stopped position and in approximately 100 feet the accelerator stop working. the engine did not die but the vehicle would only idle at a slow pace. i stopped the car, put in park, turned off the engine and then restarted. the accelerator worked at that time and i continued onto the highway with no problem. i was traveling at 75 mph for about 10 miles when the accelerator stopped working again and the vehicle slowed to an idle. i repeated the same process as before, stop, put in park, turned off engine and restarted. the accelerator worked again and i continued on 10 miles and made it home. the next available day the vehicle was taken to the ford dealership. i experienced (2) of the same scenerios listed above along my 6 mile route to the dealership. after (2) days the problem was diagnosed as a defective throttle body with a $574 price tag to repair. the service person stated this was not covered under warranty or a recall item. she then stated that the part was on a "national backorder" and would not be available for another month. this leads me to believe this is happening alot!! i have read several articles on the internet about this same type of issue happening to other ford escapes, varying years and was surprised there has not been a recall. the incident started when i was out of town, headed toward home at approimately 11:00 pm. it could have been an even more dangerous situation if i had lost power trying to turn across traffic or was on a much busier highway when this happened. i hope others are aware of this website. *tr

0630hr reversed car from garage reached road 30ft ,then placed in d accelerated to about 15mph then sudden lost of power and deceleration similar to applying brake drive went into 'limp' mode without warning.a wrench showed up as a fault warning on the dash. this is the first time this has happened. *tr

Intermittently..sometimes a week apart and then got worse ..the car quit moving due to the throttle body code p2111. the engine had to be turned off and car restarted after coasting to a safe spot. i was told at the dealership that they could not get the part as over 5000 were back ordered nationally. eventually in september i got the part and car fixed. it is interesting to note that the part has been redesigned and costs less now. i have read and heard many similar stories about this part..the dealership says there will surely be a recall as they are small dealership and they are even seeing quite a bit of this. i hope someone does not have to be killed before something is done. thanks for accepting input. *tr

While driving at 60 mph, the car went in to limp mode. we costed to the shoulder turned car off. it re started no issues, check engine light came on. took to my mechanic who clean throttle body plate. car ran great for about 5 days then again same problem arises. call ford to purchase part and told it is on national back order no idea when the part could be available. so i am not stuck with a car that could get me or my family hurt. *tr

Lost power while driving, applied pressure to the accelerator and nothing.after a year of intermittent problems with this i took it into ford dealership and they diagnosed a faulty throttle body....trouble code p 2111 .diagnostic trouble codes (dtc) p2111, throttle body stuck open. its cost me us$275. i think ford must be assume the cost because is car failure from fabric. let me know about the recall for the nhtsa action number : dp12006. *tr

Driving on the highway. the wrench light comes on. i press the gas pedal and there is nothing. the engine is still running but giving it gas will not help it to move. i put my hazards on and pull off road. i shut the car off and restart. this works but the engine light comes on. now it just shuts down sporadically. i cannot be sure when or where it will happen. took it to the dealer (town and country ford) and i am waiting for a replacement throttle body. i contacted ford motor company where i have my loan and they said even if the part is defective it is not covered under any warranties. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 ford escape. the contact stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced however, the dealer stated that the part was not available because it was being re-manufactured. the contact did not call the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 76,000. updated 07/23/13*lj

On friday, may 31, 2013 while i was on my way to work, my vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating. luckily i was able to pull off into a bank and turn my car off and then back on again. i pulled out into the street and into the left lane to make a left turn. half way through the intersection the vehicle stalled/stopped accelerating again. i just purchased this vehicle two weeks ago. i had to have it towed in to the shop where they determined that it was, surprise surprise the throttle body assembly. after reading through hundreds of complaints in just the last two weeks regarding this exact same issue, i am confused as to why there is no action being taken by the nhtsa? shouldn't there be a recall or something? i would like to know if my car is going to be safe to drive even after they replace this part. something obviously needs to be done here. this issue not only affects the public safety, but my major investment seems to be turning into a disaster. please address this issue immediately. *tr

I purchased a 2009 certified used ford escape limited in october 2012. in february 2013, my vehicle began to stutter when slowing down at stop lights, etc. i took my truck into a ford dealership and they said it was an issue with the engine and it was covered under my warranty. in may, my vehicle started exhibiting the same symptoms except this time it actually began to shut off when slowing down at stop signs and stop lights. one day i was driving and it began to slow down, stutter to the point of jerking, and it completely shut off. i ended up having to pull over, even on the freeway. after it shut off, it would turn on after leaving it off for a minute or two. i took my vehicle back into the same dealer that repaired it in february because i thought it was the same issue but worse. they examined it and said that it was an issue with the throttle body and that it is not covered under my warranty. they also informed me that the part was on back order. i paid $106 to have it examined and was told that it would be approximately $508 total to repair and that the part was on back-order and would not be for two weeks. i called back and advised the customer service rep that i wanted to proceed with having my vehicle repaired. we got off the phone and later that afternoon, i received a call stating that part was never ordered and that i needed to pay for the part in advance, $172. i researched online and saw that ford has had multiple complaints regarding throttle bodies. it seems as though i'm paying for a repair that i should not have to. i have not been able to drive my car for two weeks because it is too dangerous to drive. the dealer offered no other alternatives outside of renting a car which is extremely expensive for a two week rental. thankfully, i've been able to borrow a car. *tr

The vehicle suddenly lost power, wrench icon and check engine light came on. car lost all mobility and use of gas peddle. luckily was on a street and not a highway. after turning the car on and off the car appeared to be working normally. several minutes later the condition repeated itself, and then once again several minutes later after turning the car off and on again. took car to get error code and returned a p2112 error code referencing the throttle body. this is an extremely dangerous defect, and could easily have caused a serious wreck if at high speed. or intersection. car is currently at the dealer. *tr

Came to a stop in traffic on a local street, within seconds, everything stopped, totally dead, no warning, all dash board lights off, then oil light and battery light were on. shut it off, turned on again (several minutes later) and it started. drove short distance to dealer. dealer states, computer showed no problem. there was absolutely no warning, no indication what so ever. i am reporting this due to the fact of similar problems reported with the ford escape 2005-2012. *tr

While operating the vehicle, it stalled on me without warning. details are as follow. i came to a complete stop at a intersection. when the light went green and went to accelerate, the vehicle stalled and engine stopped. i had to put my vehicle in park and started it back up. this has occurred a total of four times so far. only occurs about once a day. three of them were at complete stops. the most recent stall was when slowing down i was below 5 mph, it stalled. i have taken the vehicle to a ford dealership that services ford's but could not find any issue or get it to stall. they drove about 60 miles doing various speeds and stops. *tr

While driving at approximately 60 mph, the engine suddenly shut off and the wrench sign lit up. i had to coast through 3 lanes of traffic in order to pull over to the side of the road. i turned off the engine and it started up again, however the engine kept shutting off every few miles. thankfully, i was able to get it home. i took it to an auto parts store to diagnose the problem, and found out i'm having a problem with the throttle body sensor. while looking up the part on the internet, i noticed that a lot of people are complaining about fords (especially escapes) having this issue. why isn't there a recall? of course my warranty has run out and i will have to come out of pocket with the repairs. this is a very dangerous situation. i now have to take the bus back and forth from work because i cannot afford to repair it at this time. my daughter is in college and i refuse to let here use the car while it is this condition. she has to find a ride every day to summer school and her job. please please please have a recall! it is not fair to hardworking people, especially since ford knows this is a problem. i will never buy a ford again. *tr

The vehicle suddenly lost power at approx 55 mph while driving on an expressway. although steering and braking was available, acceleration was not. the orange "wrench" warning light activated. i was able to drive to the shoulder, turn off the engine, and restart. this has recurred several times since this first incident. so far, i have been able to get to the shoulder each time and it has restarted. but this is a very dangerous defect that is fully discussed on the internet. a large volume of "throttle body" issues associated with this and other escape models is documented on various websites. there is never any advance warning of when this may occur, and it has occurred at a variety of speeds and road conditions. the potential danger associated with this obvious defect should warrant a recall from ford. it is just a matter of time before this defect leads to a serious accident if it already has not done so. *tr

While driving the vehicle there is frequent surging and stalling with eventual result in a nonresponsive gas pedal. the check wrench service light and the engine light were illuminated and the vehicle would become responsive again if the engine was turned off then back on. after restarting the vehicle would soon begin to surge and stall again. *tr

I was driving on a city road and the engine randomly died when i was traveling about 40mph. all the lights and radio/electronics remained on (never lost time or preset radio stations, headlights, dash, etc) but as i tried to give it some gas, it wouldn't respond. when i realized the engine was not running after a few seconds, the rpms were at 0 and the battery light and oil light was on. no codes thrown or check engine or wrench light. as i pulled over and put it in park, i attempted to start it, and it started right up like nothing was wrong. didn't "cough" or crank and crank...fired just like it was brand new. i took the vehicle in to a local body shop and they checked normal issues that would cause the escape to randomly shut off and did not find anything. then i did research and determined there was an investigation upon the throttle body. this same issue has happened a total of 3 times, of which the most recent was in july and september. *tr

I was driving up a steep hill on a blind corner in my neighborhood today when the engine suddenly shut off. this is the first time my escape shut off while i was accelerating. it stalled five other times in the past, each as i came to a stop sign or red light. the incidents are completely random with no warning, so i have no idea if next time will be at a red light or on the highway going 55 mph. when it shuts off i noticed that the dash flashes the battery and oil lights, but the battery is new and the oil is fine. i also noticed that when i'm idling in below freezing weather the engine will shudder, sometimes violently, but eventually stops when i start moving again. *tr

While driving the car started to sputter and would not accelerate and then would suddenly accelerate without touching the accelerator. eventually the engine just shut off all together. has happened several times since then. found out it was because of the throttle body, which seems to be a recurrence on ford escapes. *tr

I was stopped at a light. when the light turned green, i stepped on the accelerator and as the car got to about 5 mph, it went into what is referred to as the "limp mode." when i stepped on the accelerator, nothing happened. the engine "wrench" light came on, the engine idled at about 800 rpm, and it took about a minute or more for the car to "limp" out of the intersection. i turned off the engine, and restarted it. it then worked fine. i took it to the dealer, which was less than a mile from where this happened. after several days, they said they could find nothing wrong. now in june ( several months later), we had an instance where it happened again. i searched on the internet and saw you were investigating. i printed out the article, took it to the dealer and said this is exactly what happened. the dealer said it was a circuit problem, but the replacement part was on back order and it may take "weeks" for them to get the part. we drove the car once more and the same " limp mode" kicked in 3 times in a 3 mile trip. while turning off the engine and restarting the engine seems to clear the problem, this is extremely dangerous if the vehicle goes into the limp mode when it is necessary to accelerate the cross a road, etc. while my vehicle is under extended warranty, and hopefully it will be repaired satisfactorily, this is potentially an extremely dangerous malfunction and i am reporting it so that you can take it into consideration in your investigation. my vehicle was manufactured in july 2008, according to the sticker on the door. *tr

I was driving along when my vehicle began to sputter and stop. i was able to crank the vehicle up and drive a few feet before it started back up again, this time with the check engine light on. i was able to make it to an advanced auto parts store where they pulled the check engine error code and it indicated that it was an issue with the throttle body. i am able to drive it currently, but i am concerned that the throttle will stick just as i'm attempting to cross a busy intersection. *tr

In september of 2010, the check engine light on my ford escape would come on and off, on and off. some times it would stay on for weeks and then just disappear. sometimes it would stay on for a day or two and then disappear. and whenever i need to take it to the repair shop, the check engine light was never on. pep boys could never find anything wrong because they check engine light was never on, and no codes appeared. when pep boys drove the car, it never stopped on them. in april of 2012, as my son was home from college and driving the car, it shut off on him on the freeway on many occasions. he would explain to me that the engine went off and the car would not accelerate. he would have to pull over and either restart it or wait an hour for it to start sometimes. this happened on numerous occasions at fast and slow speeds. the check engine light and maintenance lights would come on. the car began stopping on me with the exact same problems stated above. every time i took the car to pep boys, they would drive it for hours and it never stopped on them. on april 29, 2012, i took the car in to pep boys, and the stop engine code read that the cam sensor needed to be replaced. i got the car back on may14, 2012, and it immediately stopped on me. then it ran good for two weeks, then it began stopping again on a regular basis. on june 21, 2012, i took the car in and the codes read throttle problem. they replaced the throttle and i got the car back on june, 29, 2013. i have spend over $3500.00 on this problem and would like to get reimbursed. one thing to not is that the original check light began to come on around august of 2011 and there never was a clear diagnosis until may and june of 2013. *tr

Driving on freeway at approximately 65 mph. car suddenly seemed to lose power, but retained power steering function. would not accelerate but might have had minimal power. coasted across three lanes of traffic and used brakes to stop. wrench shaped light on dash lighted. turned off engine and restarted after about 15 seconds. vehicle ran fine for next 90 miles and the next day. dealer evaluated the problem and says the throttle body needs replacement. there are other reports of similar problems on your website. also reports of possible recall for this problem by nhtsb and automotive press. it is a serious failure at speed on a busy highway and needs your attention. will the dealer cover the cost of the repair if there is a subsequent recall for this defect? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph the vehicle stalled. the contact did not take the vehicle to a dealer or mechanic for a diagnostic test performed. the contact called the manufacturer regarding a recall and the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls for the vin. the failure mileage was 31,000.

Took my vehicle in to ford dealer due to check engine light stuck on. diagnostics pulled 2 codes, p0011 & p0012. these 2 codes are major engine problems!! both solenoids need to be replaced, and possibly have to replace both cylinder heads and cam shafts if head and camshafts show wear = thus a very very expensive engine repair cost for me!! the ford dealership said this is only covered under warranty up to 60,000 miles: my escape had only 63,296 miles on 4-2-13, the day i went to the dealership. i'm climbing up the tree at ford motor company an feel i have a "lemon" ford vehicle!! i want to know why ford motor company did not send out any recall notices to 2009 ford escape owners regarding this major-major engine malfunction = serious engine repair costs to me due to their negligence !! i am over the warranty timeline by 3,296 miles !!! i should not have to pay for this engine repair !! *tr

For past couple months have had issue where car "stalls"...feels as if in neutral...will not rev...after being stopped at stop light. concerning because there is no warning as to when event will occur. extremely dangerous. have been stuck under major intersections and nearly rammed from behind on each occasion. wrench symbol comes on when occurs. have taken to dealership and was told that my escape needs a new throttle body. have been without my car for past week because the part is on "emergency backorder" from national supplier. i have filed complaint with ford and have been told that a supervisor would contact me...has been 1 wk and they have not called back. have called 3 times total. dealership refuses to pay for rental...so i am footing the bill for that at this time. this issue needs investigation...if a past is on "emergency backorder" there must be a national problem with this throttle body issue. please investigate this issue...it is dangerous. recall this part! for all those experiencing same problem..make sure to call ford and get a case #...call: 1-800-241-3673. do not rely on dealership to report issue. the more people who report the issue, the more likely something will be done. *tr

Driving at around 70mph and i noticed a light that looks like a wrench. the car began to lose acceleration. i had to pull over, stop the car and turn it back on and it began working again. the problem reappears after about 4-5 min of driving. this problem comes and goes. it will work fine for a few weeks and then it will start up again and disappear after a few weeks. *tr

Car stalled while moving forward after backing out of parking space. car had operated for 15 minutes before pulling into space, then immediately backing out without stopping engine. for approximately a year and one half yellow service engine light intermittently comes on then goes off after few driving cycles. car also hesitates and jerks during acceleration randomly and frequently. service dept of used car dealer where purchased car has detected no defects and has not replicated problem when car left at shop. *tr

While accelerating at low speeds (15 - 20 mph), the vehicle suddenly began to shudder and lurch, with no increase in throttle or power despite flooring the gas pedal. yellow check engine / repair lights came on, vehicle would jerkingly continue to move forward at a speed of less than 5 mph. after conducting a search, it appears to be similar to the "limp home mode" throttle body problem reported by the north carolina consumers council. *tr

Driving down the road at approximately 45 mph and truck had a momentary loss of power, like it was not getting fuel. did not stall and we continued down the road. it happens at various speeds and sometimes once and other times multiple times. gear and speed do not appear to be a factor. on two of the worst cases the power train / throttle control "wrench" light was illuminated, but of course after turning off vehicle and starting it back up and driving to dealership, the light was off and the truck ran fine. nothing was found the first time it was taken in. the second time i pressed them about it and they came back with over $975.00 worth of needed replacement parts (throttle body, mass air flow sensor, fuel injector flush and spark plug replacement @ 56,000 miles. *tr
