On average, the 2016 Ford Edge starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 26 213 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2016 Ford Edge

I was siting at a red light and the back glass exploded. nothing hit the car, the window just shattered.

Just noticed a large crack develop in the panoramic sunroof - front panel. unfortunately i do not remember the exact date. the crack started small and spread into different cracks covering a good portion of the sunroof. no evidence of rock or impact. cracks appear to be stress related though i am not an expert. called ford dealer and was informed this is not covered as vehicle is out of warranty. my vehicle is a 2016 ford edge sport with 25k miles. given a verbal estimate that the part would cost $1k and labor just shy of $2k for a total of $3k. i will again reinforce that the car has not been in any accident or impact and the crack appeared one morning and have grown. i am looking to sell the car and this is impacting the final price i am trying to negotiate.

While driving at approximately 25 mph near my home, i heard a loud noise on the roof of the vehicle. i pulled over to see if something struck the roof. nothing on the ground at all. when i got home, i got on a ladder to inspect the roof. the rear glass panel was cracked all over. my insurer stated it was struck by a foreign object. i went online to carguru and found hundreds of complaints about the roof glass (panoramic roof). they all cracked without being struck by any foreign object. there is also a class action lawsuit against ford for not issuing a recall. the panels are made of laminated glass, which, according to ford, makes the glass much more susceptible to break. ford now only makes tempered glass roof panels, which are stronger. this, to me, is an admission of knowledge of the problem without issuing a recall, and could have caused serious injury. my auto insurance has the claim but is giving me a hard time due to the defective material.

Power lift gate will not open sometimes. you have to go to the computer, disable the liftgate and enable the liftgate. sometimes you have to do it twice. found the temp fix on google. my ford dealer knows nothing about the problem.

The stationary part of my vista glass sunroof cracked. there is no sign of impact and it looks like a stress crack. ford is not willing to replace it because i am 1 month outside the 3 yr warranty window. i looked online and i see that there are many others with this same cracking issue.

Hands free liftgate is dangerous. while putting groceries in back and rearranging things i triggered the hands free liftgate. the gate did not stop coming down when i tried to stop it with my hand as it was closing. i got out of the way as it slammed shut. the gate does not respond when an object is put in its path, like a garage door does. it needs to! my 83 year old mother had the same thing happen to her (she has a 2019 edge)and luckily i was there and was able to push her out of the way and shield her head. she now will only put things in her back seat, because she is afraid of activating that hands free liftgate. we both had our keys in our purse/ pocket. the manual says not to have it on you when using the back gate, but c'mon that isn't realistic.

The moon roof glass is cracking. no point of impact. the car was not hit by any foreign object. when car is in motion, the spider webbing cracks get worse.

While driving the brakes failed, pedal went to the floor and i could not stop. dealer said front brake lines had failed, one burst and the other had a large bubble in the line. vehicle has 40,000 miles on it. second problem is with computer screen, while driving all the systems connected to the computer start failing one after another, affecting safety systems controlled by the computer. when dealer repaired it they said the interface to the computer screen was defective.

Internal leak from oil valve/switch allowed fumes to leak into the car for months and months and exposed the driver to toxins; blood work revealed high levels of mtbs; symptoms include extreme exhaustion, vision and cognitive problems, balance issues itchy skin, and more. first, the fumes should never leak into the car, second, the ford service department said it was ok to drive while they ordered a part, and it was not ok to drive because it was poisoning the driver. the car has now been fixed, the driver's recovery is ongoing.

When flat towing behind rv vehicle goes into a wobble. only way to stop the wobble is to come to a complete stop. happened when entering road from shoulder also on a rough uneven road. happened at slow speed 10 to 20 mph.

The sync3 navigation system stops responding at different times while driving. the vehicles navigation, radio, heat controls become inoperable. the functionality may be returned after a reboot of the system. this happens when both parked and while operating the vehicle at normal highway speeds.

Found moon roof to be cracked.

Sunroof glass cracked for no apparent reason. one day it was fine, next day it was cracked. i took to ford dealer and they told me $1,000 to repair and that they use 3rd party to repair. my car is still under warranty, but they said it is not covered. i did research and many others having the exact same issue.

I opened the sunroof cover and it revealed a large crack in the glass. i've already had the sunroof replaced once under warranty from ford for a similar crack.

Panoramic roof cracked with no impact - appears to be a common issue

The rear window of my edge exploded with no one in the vehicle'. my wife remote started the car, then later she went out to get the newspaper and go shopping when she noticed glass on the ground behind the car. thinking it was vandalized we called the police. upon the patrolman's examination he noted that it looks like it was broken from the inside! i agreed. the vehicle was parked in my driveway and was locked.

The front sunroof on my ford edge 2016 cracked for no reason. does not appear to have been hit by any object. has wavy crack which starts on front driver side corner and runs backward. i opened the inside cover while parked on a city street and noticed the crack.

My husband was driving when he opened the sun visor. i looked and thought there was ice on the sunroof because of the strange swirl pattern. it is not cold enough to have ice like that where i live. my husband says look its cracked. the panoramic sunroof cracked in a swirled pattern. i took the car to a professional auto glass place and the repair guy said he did not see any spots where there would be impact. so i thought maybe it was a glass defect. i took to the dealer and the service manager gets up and starts poking the glass with a pen and says there are 2 places of impact so it must have had a rock hit it and skip along and crack it twice.

Car driving at 55-70 mph straight line down highway and suddenly dies. car still has accessory power, hit hazard lights and tried to coast to side of road without getting hit. upon stopping car will immediately restart. yellow wrench lights up on dash.

My sunroof has cracked 4 times. there multiple wavy cracks all over the windows. it has been replaced 3 times and after the third roof, it was cracked again within a month. my dealer will not fully cover this roof. i am told that it is from rock chips but honestly believe there is a defect in the glass or possibly the frame to cause the cracks. once i get a new glass, it is cracked again within a month. i am worried about the safety of the glass. my rear window shattered as well while parked and from closing the driver door. i believe my sun roof has cracked on stationary and driving conditions.

Car was parked, running, in a driveway while i was sitting it in. it came out of park and started rolling backward.

The automatic tailgate unexpected closes on your head, there is no safety feature if you are underneath the tailgate!

Left a local business heading to another business on the other side of a fairly busy highway, when i pulled out in the intersection, car lost all power. hill side assist light came on, wrench, car was running, but yet seemed disengaged as if it were in neutral or had no power going to transmission or wheels. was able to coast to side of the street, where i restarted the car once with no change, shut car off again and left a bit longer before we starting, car cranked over very hard, did allow me to be able to get off the highway into the gas station, still not at this point running like it should, contacted local dealership service dept, after sitting approx 5 plus mins, car started, all dash lights went out except the engine light. told to bring car in to be checked out asap. from what i've read on line this seems to be a fairly common problem, but a very dangerous problem. you have no idea when this is going to happen and all power seems to be gone and you coasting in busy traffic areas trying to get out of the other traffics way and prevent a accident. very unhappy with our vehicle at this point, have lost a lot of faith in what i can expect, a person, family could easily be killed by the car performance. also had a issue with many dash lights coming on after car had been parked at a business and restarted, this happened on 3/26/17, approx 12000 miles on car. hillside start assist light came on, wrench, airbag symbol, stablity control, abs lights and stayed on our whole trip home approx 14 miles, when car was shut off and restarted after a bit, all lights stayed off, garage informed, nothing done about this issue, also have issues at our local kwik trip car sometimes won't start, not detecting the key, seems they put out to strong of radio signals, key has to be placed by transmiter to get car to start.

I bought that suv on 12/9/16. on 17/1/17 i delivered (dealer) it for repair, i mean, to function for first time the interior (soffit) lights. on 21/2/17 they delivered (to me) the unit, after installed a new fuse box (sent from the manufacturer). on 4/ix/17 (night) from the left side of the soffit began to outburst smoke/burning smell. at the end, the left side of the soffit and the base of the sun protector (with mirrior) were burned. next day, i took the vehicle to the dealer, and they have it yet. i wrote a letter, with copies to the ford ceo, vp customer affairs, vp quality control and dealer ceo. later i file a claim at the local consumer affairs off. the dealer technician (in charge of repair the unit) said "that's an electrical flaw from manufact"

I'm experiencing what many, many other ford super duty truck owners have been experiencing since about 2005 commonly known as the "death wobble". at speeds above 45 miles per hour, when the truck goes across a rough (washboard) bit of road or a bridge joint, the front end sometimes shakes violently which also causes the steering wheel to shake violently until you can bring the vehicle to a stop, which is not easy. this is a very serious safety issue, which could cause loss of control resulting in injury to passengers as well as other drivers on the road. in the research i have done, it appears that ford has done very little to correct this problem for consumers. i have mentioned the problem to the dealership where i purchased the truck new twice now and they say they cannot find anything wrong and cannot duplicate the problem in a test drive. i have only 26,000 miles on the truck and the problem seems to be getting worse. have had it aligned twice and tires rotated regularly. no unusual wear. my wife refuses to drive the truck and i'm not too excited about it myself. will it take injuries and deaths to force ford into admitting there is a problem and fix it?

We have a 2016 edge and shortly after driving we opened the vista roof noticed a a long crack that ran completely from one side of the movable window to the other. the dealership said it was a stone chip but having looked at blue oval.com i see this problem has been addressed by ford and also ignored. so we now have to pay for the window replacement even though it appears it is a production problem. i now have to pay the price for their lack of engineering and quality control.

Car has died multiple times at high rate of speed. dealer says no codes thrown. used 3 quarts oil before 5000 miles. exhaust smoked horribly. deceleration issues constantly. last time it died on freeway dealer said throwing codes and engine needs replacing. they have had vehicle since december 14 2016. they tried to replace heads and it blew up engine. car has less than 9000 miles. vehicle died multiple times on freeway. deceleration issues occurred both from full stop and acceleration on freeway entrance ramp. vehicle has been in shop 3-4 times since purchased in late august 2016.

Both back lights and back mid light compartments are not sealed . the water retains in there that creates electrical shortcut ,. the sales man said he saw already several cars with the problem,. my car had at least 1 or 1 1/2 inch high water was in there- all 3 back lights . danger for car fire and possible explosion from electrical short cut from water in the back light.

Driving down the road and the vehicle suddenly went to idle. had to coast to a stop on the side of the road. the car was still idling but when i tried to give it gas, nothing happened. i shut the car off, restarted and it worked fine. approx. 10 miles later, did the same thing. car only has 9,200 miles. i drive the interstate daily and this is going to be very dangerous if it happens there. will be at the dealer at 9:00am sharp tomorrow.

Under hard acceleration there is strong smell in the cabin that smells like sulfur it has gotten so bad that i have to drive with my windows open and i carry a carbon monoxide detector because i'm worried about the fumes being toxic. i do a lot of highway driving so most of the times it occurs on the highway it also happen in city driving from full stop.
