Problems with 2013 Ford Edge ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Driver door latch problem. the door shuts but the warning says that the door is still open and the cabin lights and exterior lights remain on. this drains the battery and makes it difficult to see when driving or backing up at night.

Door ajar warning system will not deactivate. interior lights stay on, very dangerous when backing up at night. doors will not lock and warning is very distracting notifying driver to shift car into park. this warning occurs in all phases of operation.

The door ajar light comes on when the door is closed tight.(drivers door) this causes warning lights and sounds from dash display. the door overhead lights also come on. when stopping the warning system states "shift to park". constant ringing and display of this problem but the door is not ajar. research of this problem on the internet shows a obvious problem with these door sensors. this is a safety hazard. please force recall!

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. every time the key was inserted into the ignition, the door ajar and shift to park warning indicators illuminated. the failure occurred no matter how many times the door was slammed shut. the door chime sounded. the failure occurred every day for the past three weeks. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified and the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

The switch that controls the circuit that detects if the driver door is closed or not is defective. an internet search shows this is a common issue on these vehicles. it is a safety issue in that the doors will unlock (including the rear doors) automatically while the vehicle is in motion. also, due to the vehicle believing the door is open, it will drain the battery and leave the car unable to start after parking. this happens while the vehicle is stationary, or when moving, and will even fail while driving even after closing the door many times to ensure the switch ends up in the right condition. at times, it takes 30 or more open close cycles for the switch to operate correctly, but will sometimes "open" again while driving down the road.

Drivers side door ajar alarm goes off after the door is securely closed. the alarm begins as soon as the key enters the ignition. have closed the door in many different ways (lightly, little harder), it does not correct the situation. alarm also goes off while driving.

Purchased this vehicle march 29, 2016. less than 2 months later the vehicle started randomly stalling and going into limp mode and i had to pull over on the busy dc highway with 2 small children in the back which was extremely dangerous. the check engine light and a wrench light came on but it cut off after a restart. auto zone couldnt read the codes unless the car was malfunctioning at the time which happens randomly. since the car is still within the powertrain warranty i took it to the ford dealership and they diagnosed it as p2111 electric throttle body failure. the advisor agreed that this has been a common problem in ford models and i read that a consumer safety program was started for other ford models with the exact same problem. the advisor said it is not covered by the powertrain warranty and since there is no recall for this problem with ford edges i have to pay $800+ dollars to have it repaired. this is outrageous. apparently someone has to lose their life before ford issues a recall on this known issue. i hope the nhtsa steps in before something tragic happens! ive attached a picture showing the lights on the dash after about the 10th time the car stalled.

Door ajar warning keeps coming on when the door is fully shut. when it is showing, the car is unable to lock the doors as the car is moving and the lights stay on making it very difficult to drive at night. not having the doors lock is a major safety issue as we have young children that ride in the car. also, it allows others to open the doors unexpectedly. ford should stand up and fix the safety issue. beyond the safety issue the battery is being drained as the lights stay on and we don't notice it until we go to use the car again.

Going up a hill, stalls out "low oil pressure" indicator came on. also the door security beeps when the passenger door opens first.

Driver door ajar switch alarms almost every time car is driven. results in overhead lights staying on which causes visual impairment when backing up. once going forward alarm and lights go off. must visually check door to ensure door is closed and not ajar. i understand that this is currently being investigated for safety issues.

The driver side door is always reported as ajar. the doors cannot be locked while driving, if you manually lock them they are immediately unlocked. the interior lights will sometimes stay on which makes driving at night difficult. if you leave the key in the ignition after parking, like in the garage, it will run down the battery.

My door ajar light dome light stays on even though the door is shut it's dangerous while driving at night due to domelight staying on its distracting cause door ding sounds off while driving been stranded one time cause dome light stood on but the one thats the worst i was so used to still driving with light on i was in my parking lot luckily with wife i turn on car dome light is on so i figure door is shut its just the sensor going off like always but door shut this time the door was open not shut i turn and fall off car lucky wife pressed break one day a person is going to think its just the sensor going off and door is locked while actually its open get hurt and ill be the first witness for that persons lawsuit against ford cause they are acting like thats not a recall situation shame on ford i will never buy a ford and will tell everyone and their brother the same thing they say buy a ford cause its ford tough better said ford tough luck

2013 ford edge with 37k miles. driver "door ajar" light comes on when door is shut. causing doors not to lock while car is in motion going down road/highway. also causes interior dome lights to stay on, unable to see out the windows while the dome lights are on while night driving. rear view camera glitches on and off and flips upside down which causes distraction while backing up and unsafe operating conditions.

Driver door ajar light stays on even when the door is shut!interior dome lights stay on and it tells you to shift the car to park. does not matter how many times you shut the door it is still sensing it is open. i have to shut the door mulitple times and use the key fob until the lights go off so the battery does not run down. you can shut the door and finally get it to turn off, then start driving and it will tell you to shift to park that the door is ajar and the dome lights come on. the estimate from the dealer to repair is $500.00. this is a major safety concern because my door will not lock while it is showing its ajar and i have children in the back seat that could open it, it is very distracting, frustrating and when it happens at night my lights will not go off and you can not see clearly. i have seen so many complaints regarding this and is very disappointed that ford is not concerned as well!!!!

Driver door ajar warning. cannot lock doors, interior lights go on, warning chime sounds. very dangerous especially at night with the interior lights on with doors unlocked. dealer said no recall. had to pay $366.10 for a "possible" fix by cleaning contact latch with tool and recycled per tsb 15-0013.

Door ajar, lights on warning. door is completely closed but door ajar warning comes on causing interior lights to come on and beeping noise. safety hazard. cost is about $400 to fix. grrrr.

Door sensor is not working. the signal comes on that show door ajar when the door is shut tightly. also a dinging noise starts as soon as i put the key in the ignition, without even turning the key.

I am very concerned about my door ajar problem that i am having with my vehicle. i have children and if the door ajar is on the doors do not lock. it also makes the dome lights stay on. another problem is that when i stop my vehicle it constantly is making dinging noises and telling me to put the car in park and shut my door. i am still very concerned about all these issues, especially for my children. i have not seen any recalls out for this issue and i have seen many issues on the internet about this going on in several ford vehicles. *tr

Door ajar lamp stays on, drains battery. comes on while driving, forces pull overs on freeways to get the interior lights to go off.

Ford edge 2013 "door ajar" light remains on when the driver side door is completely closed. it stays on consistently. it causes the dome light to stay on longer, effecting my battery and safety when driving at night. the warning signal comes on every time i stop creating a safety hazard as my attention is shifted off the road to my gauge and the noise. it is a safety concern since i have no way of telling if my door is really ajar because the light is on consistently, even when it is closed. i had the mechanism cleaned at the ford dealership, it went off for about a month, and now is on again all of the time. i took it again to the dealership and was told i need a new latch kit. many people have had this problem and it should be recalled.

The driver door ajar light comes on and the shift to park warning comes on the bells dings and all inside lights stay on.whether the car is on or not, the lights stay on. i've had to replace my battery because the lights won't shut off. i cannot open and close the door to get the warning to go off. also the dash lights an overhead lights will come on when no one has even been in the car it's making me crazy!! i called ford customer service ad the told me to try to get my third party warranty to cover the repairs.this is all bull crap, ford needs to recall and repair everyone's problem.

Driver door ajar light stays on constantly even though the door is securely closed, also the vehicle doors will not lock when the car is in motion, the interior courtesy lights stay on while car is being driven which makes night vision impossible. alarms go off constantly while driving calling for the driver to stop and shift into park

Driver door ajar light would not go off, even though the door seemed to be closed. thus doors would not lock and occasionally warning lights would flash, distracting me as i drove. i took the car to my local ford dealer and was told it was a faulty front door latch, which they replaced for $425.65. see #2 on the attached.

Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. prevents driver from knowing of a real door ajar situation. interior light stays on, creating a night driving hazard and when sitting in car at night. doors no longer lock when vehicle is in motion. major safety issue. faulty latch or sensor. all issues stemming for faulty door latch or sensor. this has continued for several weeks.

Driver side door ajar indicater stays on after door has been closed. overhead lights stay on when door ajar indicated is engaged which is a driving hazard at night. this issue occurs both when idle and while driving.

My door ajar indicator will not stop alerting me that my door is open regarless of the doors staet closed or not. so now when driving my interior over head lights will not go off even at night impairing my vision. ford dealer ship refuses to fix this problem i only have 35000 miles on the vehicle and this is the second time i have taken it in for this same failure. the first time they fixed it and it lasted about a year now they refuse to fix it. not only do i have to disconnect my battery at night or the lights wear it down but now that my interior lights stay on at night it makes it hard to see the traffic around me.

Whether in motion or not , door ajar light stays on from left front door. this is dangerous situation

2013 ford edge , the door latch switch, not working properly, causing the door ajar light to stay on and also the inside lights, the door ajar alarm sounds , signaling that a door is open when they are clearly all closed, on one instance the battery was dead requiring me to get a jump start. ford needs to recall, and fix this problem. this is an ongoing problem no matter if you are parked or driving down interstate 95

Driver's door ajar light stays on and dings when the door is clearly closed. after opening and closing several times it will sometimes go out but and soon as i slow to stop it comes back on. sometimes the dome light stays on too.

I have owned this vehicle for less than a year and 2 months after purchasing it the door ajar light came on. it comes on everytime i start the car. a message appears saying to put the car in park and shut the door, i have done this numerous times to no avail. i have tired driving forward and opening the door then shutting it while still driving forward slowly (sometimes this will work temporarily) and i have also tired doing the same in reverse. i have called ford and been told to take it to a ford dealership for a diagnostic test. the test is going to cost $120 plus tax then the parts and labor so i'm looking at a cost of $500 or more! ford knows this vehicle has this issue, so why don't they do a recall. i live in a rural area where we have bear and mountain lions and i stand outside for 10 minutes or more waiting for the interior lights to go off, when they still don't, i around the car and open and close all the doors again and wait some more. (as a women i truly am nervous while i'm out there) not to mention having to drive at night hoping i won't get a ticket because the interior lights stay on. no wonder why consumers get mad and don't want to buy american made products anymore. come on ford make the recall happen already!!!!! *tr

Driver side door ajar issue- when the door is closed the door ajar light will come on while driving or while parked. the interior lights will stay on even while driving at night. the door locks will also not stay locked. this will happen whether driving on the highway or in the city. every time you drive the car this will happen. when the car is turned off and parked the interior lights will stay on. i have to open and close the door several times in order for the lights to finally shut off.

The passenger door ajar light stays on along with dome light when door is closed. caused my battery to die.

Drive's side door ajar warning light constantly displays. interior lights will not dim because car thinks door is open when latch is secure. in addition, doors cannot be locked. as a woman who travels a lot and gets in her car, alone, often late at night, i do truly believe this to be a terribly safety issue!!! dome lights often remain on even when car is off a no one is in it. i fear it could drain the battery dead when car left in park and off. in addition, i often have difficulties with the car's sync system and the car almost always has exhaust/fuel fumes when traveling above 60 mph. i don't know if all of these issues are related, but with a vehicle so dependant on electrical systems for operation i worry about a life-threatening issue!!!

The driver's side door gives off the warning that it is open when the door is closed. checking online it looks like it is the door ajar switch which has been an ongoing problem with fords and i believe they need to recall this issue

Vehicle continues to alarm drivers door ajar even though it is shut, i am told it is a common issue with the door latch sensor, because of this the vehicle does not sense that the door is shut, it continues to ding and flash between "driver door ajar" and "shift to park" because of this, none of the doors lock and the interior lights stay on (very troublesome at night)

Door ajar comes on while the door is closed and you have the open and close the door more than 50 times for it to go off ......ford needs to redesign or replace sensors/ door lock mech. especially not even being 2,000 miles after replacement and from what i've read online with other ford edge owners and other ford vechical owners this is a very common problem

Many many people are experiencing the same issue im having, the front drivers door censor goes bad. my vehicle wont lock because its reading drivers door ajar. its a safety hazard and many people have the same problem.

The door ajar warning message (always indicating the driver side door) comes on even when the door is closed. i have to shut the door hard several times to get the warning message or door ajar removed. now there have been instances when i am driving and the drivers side door ajar warning appears. the warning messages also say shift to park when the door ajar warning message appears.
