We have classified the 779 complaints from 2013 Ford Edge about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Driver's-side door constantly says "door ajar." light on dash does not go out. in-car alarm constantly dinging, saying the door is open, when it is clearly latched. automatic door locks do not work. cannot use keyless entry because the car believes the door is open.
My driver and passenger door is flagging that it's ajar when it's not.
Door ajar light stays on
Driver door not locking, door must be opened and re closed several times. if not engaged, interior lights stay on draining battery and car remains unsecured and prone to theft. also sometimes while driving the unlocked indicator lights up and sounds and not sure if door has truly unlatched.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while driving approximately 25 mph and making a right turn, the vehicle stalled without warning. the driver was able to coast into a parking lot and turned off the engine. the driver was able to restart the vehicle and resume driving. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Door ajar light and warning come on with door closed. opening and closing door alleviates the problem at times.
Door ajar sensor switch does not work. the door is securely shut, but the interior lights stay on and the warning signal keeps going off. have had this worked on, but the fix does't last. terrible design that needs to be addressed!
I have had a re-occurring door ajar issue with my ford edge ever since i purchased it. over time, the door ajar lights come on and off even as all the door are closed. have had the issue lookes at by ford dealership, but they charge a substantial amount to repair it. within the past week, the door ajar issue is now causing the interior lights to remain on. i did not use my car over the weekend, and noticed 3 days later that my interior lights had been on for a while. the lights were extremely hot, that one of them was smoking. the lights now will not turn off because of he door ajar issue. when i open and close the door over and over again, the door ajar issue goes away and then the lights go off. this is a safety issue due one of the lights smoking. in addition, touching the lights after being on for days, could have cause burns on the skin.
Door ajar light will not go off. quoted $400 to fix from ford dealer
Door ajar light comes on saying door is open and no matter how many times you shut the door it still stays on. because of this interior lights are staying on and doors will not lock when in drive. this happens when you turn on the vehicle even if you did not open that door. it started with this just happening once a week and now it happens every time i start my car. it is just on the passenger door.
This is my second time reporting non-working door lock systems. has been repaired but continues to not work. what can be done
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. when the contact closed the vehicle's door, the door ajar warning indicator remained illuminated. in addition, when the contact depressed the brake pedal, the shift to park warning indicator illuminated and when the brake pedal was released, the indicator dimmed. the failures recurred each time the vehicle was driven. in addition, while the vehicle was parked, the interior lighting remained illuminated and drained the vehicle's battery. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
I had to replace driver door latch due to issues with driver door ajar warning constantly coming on when door was closed while parked or moving also creating problems with dome light, door locks and entry pad. after researching this issue it seemed to be pretty common among other ford edge owners which confirmed my decision to replace the driver's side door latch. vehicle has only 28,000 miles.
The latch caused a problem so the vehicle kept giving me a "door ajar" warning. since it thought the door was ajar, the interior lights would not go off, eventually causing a dead battery. this was a problem driving at night since the interior lights were on continually causing it difficult to see. it also was a problem for me, as a woman i didn't feel i could use my car for activities, especially in the evening, if i had to worry about coming out to a vehicle with a dead battery and no help available. i had this repair through my local shop, so i could trust using my car. the cost of the repairs was $392 which was not covered by warranty. there have been recalls on most of the ford models for this year, but not the edge. same problem...why aren't we getting the repairs needed at not cost.
Door ajar light and alarm stays on for driver's door even when the door is securely shut. occurs at all speeds and when stationary.
Driver door ajar sensor is continually on and requires stopping putting in park and opening and closing door multiple times this is an ongoing problem and is being addressed for other ford models but no the edge please consider including it in the current recall 16s30. this occurs while both stationary and moving.
Control panel states doors ajar and lights won't turn off or doors won't lock. dome light stays on and creates dangerous conditions at night when trying to back out or while driving. lights will also come back on when stopped at stop light and won't go back off until a certain rate of speed has been met due to the system thinking the door is ajar when it's not. doors will also not lock when car is off and dome light stays on draining battery till the battery is dead sitting in parked position. it is also climate sensitive and is worse on cold or humid days. both the driver and the drivers passenger door is affected and creates extremely dangers driving conditions. this has been going on for at least 6 months and continues to get worse.
Received a door ajar message for driver side door on instrument panel and interior light would stay on even though door was closed. doors would not lock while driving and would hear a constant dinging sound and would receive a message on console saying shift to park. the door latch had to be replaced on 3/13/17 and cost $590. the mileage on this vehicle is 42,716 when the latch failed and was repaired.
A few thousand miles ago i replaced the door latch on the drivers door due to failure, and now the left rear sensor has failed. this results in cabin lighting suddenly coming on, refusing to go off, and leaving my vehicle illuminated when parked. when first occurred, i pulled over on a busy highway to assure my daughter (in the rear seat) was safe and the door wouldn't fly open. recognizing it now as a sensor, and the second on this vehicle, i'm shocked to see that ford still thinks this is ok and should not be addressed.
Door ajar latch/sensor continues to stick which keeps the door ajar light on and keeps the interior lights and park lights on after turning off car, closing door, and locking car. interior lights and park lights are hard to notice during daylight hours and this results in draining battery which leaves the owner stranded. this happens repeatedly!
Door ajar light for driver side door comes on inspite of banging door locked and does not go away after several time closing hard. checked door is locked and light is false. sensor does not work properly. sometime this come on when vehicle in motion on the street. this was repaired by ford dealer in turnersville nj 1.5 years back when vehicle was in warranty.
Door ajar continues to stay on despite doors being closed. unable to lock doors (all doors) while driving. interior lights stay on. interior lights come on while driving making it difficult to see at night. unable to lock doors with keypad. unable to tell if door is actually closed or not while driving.
Driver side, rear passenger "door ajar" is constantly lit on the dashboard. despite repeated verification that the door is closed, the warning message remains. this means the doors won't lock, the cabin lights don't turn off and the audible alarm rings. there has been no injury or accident at this time. door appears to be latched, but warning indicator stays on. remains while driving or stationary.
Driver side door locking switch is defective..when doors are closed the switch unlocks all doors !!! will not stay locked.. *tt
My driver side door latch seems to be failing. my door ajar light comes one when the door is closed. i'm not sure if it actually is or not. it has yet to open on its on, but upon some research it appears this could happen. when the driver side door says its ajar the doors won't lock. i've had to open and close my door a dozen times just to get the interior lights to shut off. this happens on a daily basis. i've also had the good fortune of getting in the car and the door ajar light doesn't come on. then i put the car in drive, start my way down the road only for the door ajar light to come on and the interior lights come on as well. more often than not though, the door ajar light comes on immediately. again, i'm not sure if it's sensor, or if the door latch is malfunctioning. i'm not sure if the door is even latched when i'm driving. i've looked online and this seems to be a costly issue to repair. ford seems to have done a recall on certain makes except the edge.
The drivers side "door ajar" warning light comes on when the door is closed. in this condition the doors will not lock automatically and the warning continues to come on intermittently which is a distraction to the driver. the warning light and annunciator come in when the car is stationary and will go quiet when the car is in motion only after acknowledging the warning by depressing ok on the steering wheel controls. the alarm comes in again when stopped at a stop light
I have been having a problem with the driver's door of my '13 ford edge limited indicating that it is ajar (warning and interior lights on) when it is not. in order for it to quit, i have to either very firmly close the door (slam it) or open and close it a few times until it senses that it is in fact fully closed. it is also draining my battery because when i exit the vehicle sometimes the interior lights stay on. there have been a few occasions that i had to jump start my car. the door ajar light stays on when the vehicle is parked and in motion.
A light indicating 'door ajar' randomly appears even though door seems to be closed. there is no solution except to repeated slam door shut multiple times until light disappear. ford refuses to cover this problem under warranty.
Door ajar light on from bad door sensor on drivers door. this is our 2nd edge with the exact same problem. the issues caused by this is the battery drains, lights stay on inside vehicle with no way to turn them off other than by removing fuses and doors will not lock as it thinks the car doors are open.
Sensor for driver door keeps coming on when door is clearly shut. this causes battery to drain, interior lights to remain on, doors to not lock, and constant beeping. researched it and tens of thousands of people have the same problem and are paying $300+ to fix it and having it happen a year later again.
On three separate occasions in the last three months the door ajar sensor has malfunctioned on the ford edge. these issues surfaced twice with the driver's door and once with the rear driver's passenger door. despite being closed, the sensor activates to show that the door is ajar. the lights on the vehicle stay on, the alarm sounds. the repair costs for this problem are around $500 per incident. a quick search of the internet finds this to be a reoccurring problem for many ford edge owners but no one at ford or the government will help address the problem. i'm writing for you to investigate this issue.
My "door ajar" sensor light stays on even when the door is shut. i can not lock my doors when the light is on. it has also run down my battery so i had to replace my battery.
The door ajar light continues to stay on even when it is shut. this has happened for the front driver-side door and the back driver-side door. the front was fixed under warranty. i can not afford the back door to be fixed, and i shouldn't because this is an obvious defect! the vehicle is stationary and in motion when this is happening. i don't even open the door anymore as it takes about three days for the system to register that it is closed. but once opened, the light stays on!!
The door ajar warning light keep coming on for my drivers side door even though all doors are closed and fully latched. the lights stay on after the the car has been parked and all doors closed, causing the battery to drain quickly. the warning will also come on while i am driving and each time i come to a stop. problem is intermittent. it will do it most of the time and then occasionally, the door ajar will work properly.
Door ajar sensor malfunction. when door is closed the alarm warning keeps going off and inside lights stay on.
The driver door ajar switch/alarm remains on when the drivers door is firmly closed when stationary and when in motion. this causes the dome light to remain on which makes it hard to see, dangerous, to drive at night. the doors will not lock when driving which can be unsafe. this condition is constant on any type of street or any parking situation. my edge had around 31,000 miles when this problem started.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while stationary, the vehicle displayed "door ajar" when the driver's door was already closed. the contact had to open and close the door several times before the "door ajar" warning went off. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 54,000. .....updated 03/08/17 *bf *cn
Driver door ajar warning light stays on causing interior light to stay on and alarm to go off if its parked and locked. closing the door up to 10 times may cause the warning light to go off. if i start driving then the warning message tells me to shift into park and close my door. if i ignore it then it starts beeping at me to get my attention. pressing the ok button to bypass it does not work more than a few seconds its back. this has been going on for weeks now. *tr
Driver door ajar light has started coming on regularly even though all doors are shut. sometimes it happens while driving and i get a "shift to park" warning. i then have to pull over and slam the door shut several times to clear it. it's becoming a hassle and lights stay on so it drains the battery. this is a defect and ford should issue a recall and fix this issue. it's a safety hazard as far as i'm concerned. *tr
Car is stationary. door ajar sensor is showing the interior light remains on which make it dangerous to back up at night. this also causes the battery to die. door ajar chime constantly going off every three to five minutes.
Door ajar warning when door is shut, the driver door will not lock presenting one safety hazard. also the dome light stays on during night time driving causing a road hazard because it impairs the ability to see the road. it also drains the battery and can leave you stranded in a parking lot. *tr
Door adjar light stays illuminated even when door is shut. dome lights stay on causing battery to die. vehicle chimes while driving causing mild distraction.
When driver side door is shut, the inside lights stay on and the door ajar warning light stays on. door does not lock and door chime continues making it unknown if door is truly shut and secured when driving down the road. while driving the door ajar light has come on, cabin light turns on causing dangerous situation at night. *tr
The drivers door door ajar sensor does not register when the door is closed. this leads to the door ajar light remaining on during travel, the interior lights remaining on during travel, doors will fail to lock during travel, and an audible alarm each time you stop the vehicle for a stop sign or stop light.
Rear door sensor will not go off, results in dome light staying on running battery down. wipers will not shut off
Hundreds and hundreds of people with this specific model and year are reporting the same issue of the door ajar sensor going out. some people say it is happening repeatedly even after repair. ford hasn't recalled it though, and it is costing as much as $750 for consumers. mine has been out since just after buying the car. the fact that the repairs are not even working permanently is a bigger issue too. this is clearly a manufacturer problem and needs to be resolved by ford. this is a constant issue regardless of motion. stationary vehicles and moving vehicles alike are showing this issue.
Driver door ajar alert comes on and stays on will not reset, at the same time interior lighting remains on for an extended time after turning car off and exiting. drains the battery. the door lacks are also effected unable to lock while car is on, the auto lock not functioning placing driver and passengers in jeopardy. the interior lights also effected when driving especially at dark due to an extended delay in going off after starting prohibits being able to see outside and drive safely. have reviewed many reports from other ford owners on this subject on you tube many of whiz have had very costly repairs done repeatedly on the same problem, some purchasing parts to repair only to find the parts were faulty as well.
Vehicle improperly signals driver's rear door ajar. seems to be a problem with a sensor in the door latch.
Door ajar light remains on regardless that doors are properly latched. hazards: unable to lock doors due to the fact that vehicle believes door is open. was recently in a bad area of town in a parking lot and was unable to lock the doors for myself and infant. overhead light will not turn off because vehicle believes door is open. while driving at night (especially when backing out of driveways) it is incredibly hard to see because the dome light remains on. back window is impossible to see out of in the dark with the dome light on. dome light will over go over after reaching a certain speed. these are serious safety issues! not being able to see and not being able to lock doors are very serious issues! after this many complaints, ford should be held accountable to perform a recall for this issue! this is not a $20 part that needs replaced, it's a $450-$500 repair issue that some families don't have the ability to pay for!
Driver door will not lock. door ad jar message on dash. when you manually lock the door they immediately unlock. can not keep doors locked. tried locking door before starting engine but doors unlocks as soon as car starts even before car is in motion. this happens almost all the time the car is started. i just drive with the error of n the dash board "put car in park" and an occasional audible sound.
