Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2013 Ford Edge

Door ajar light keeps coming on. ford fixed at around 38,000 miles now it has come back. i was told they would do the cheap fix and it would return and that has been the case now i am out of warranty. ford this is a safety issue and should be a recall. if the dome light stays on at night or doors wont lock this is a huge liability. also its sets off the alarm and drains my battery.

Originally occurred in 2015. at that time the dealer indicated that sop was to clean contacts not replace component. the cleaning worked until the warranty expired. now the door does not register in the system as closed at any time. the door is closed but the system does not see it as closed. door remains unlocked because system does not see it closed. anti-theft does not work because system does not see door as closed. lights remain on for long periods of time when the doors are closed. get warning that door is open, when it is closed.

Driver's door switch failed. continuously receive driver door ajar warning when the door is securely closed. interior lights stay on for extended periods of time when vehicle is not moving or moving slow.

On 6-22-17 i purchased the ford edge from town and country toyota. less than a week later the car computer indicator consistently began to denote door ajar. the car was taken back to the dealership where it remained for 4 days. on 7-13-2017 while driving on busy street in charlotte nc around 4:30 pm in the afternoon the ford edge computer system flashes that the oil pressure is low. immediately after this information was placed on the car computer screen the breaks locked, the steering lock and the car stops while in transition with no warning and i am sitting underneath the green light in the middle of an intersection on the street.

The door ajar warning continuously comes on even when the door is closed and locked. this causes the battery to drain and the alarm to go off at random times. the only way to deactivate is by slamming the door shut multiple times.

Drivers "door ajar warning" dome lights stay on and alarm rings but the door is closed. second replacement of door latch in 100,000 miles needed. moving or stopped any road.

The doors sensors of the driver and passenger doors are faulty, causing the car to register them as "open" all the time. this causes door locks to default to unlocked, even while driving, regardless of speed. this causes a fall hazard, a carjacking hazard, and an abduction hazard for me and my children. it also causes the overhead lights to stay on while beginning to drive until the car reaches speeds over 10 mph. this causes a problem while in reverse in parking lots, as the lights decreases visibility to almost nothing and prevents me from seeing cars crossing behind me and parked on my passenger side.

The driver side door ajar light will not go out. at first after closing the door several times the light would go out, now the door ajar light stays on.

Left front door ajar warning light. doors will not lock while driving. repeating alarm. dome light stays on. while driving.

Door ajar light staying on for driver door. alert keeps telling me to put car in park while car is iin motion. doors won't lock while car is in motion. done lights stay on while car is in motion. this happened in early 2016 as well, ford dealership replaced the entire door mechanism so this part is only 16 months old.

Door ajar sensors are faulty, causing unsafe conditions while driving, mostly at night tine..

When car is started and put in drive, "engine on" warning comes on, followed by, "driver door ajar" warning. next message is to put car in park. door is not ajar, but opening and slamming door solves the problem. intermittently, the car will not lock or unlock without the key being used on the drivers side. passenger door is unaffected.

The driver side door constantly shows as " door ajar" i have tried lubricating switch and blowing air across switch and it still stays on. i have tried closing door with force and it still registers as ajar. the problem is it constantly makes a noise while driving and the dome lights remain on after door is closed and i am afraid that it will drain my battery and i wont know for sure that the door isn't ajar and i will not be aware if is in reality ajar. this could bee a serious safety issue. this occurs when i get in the car and start the ignition, also occurs when i turn the car off and close and lock the car doors. there is nothing to take a picture of, it is just a micro switch malfunction. this has been occurring for the last year plus.

Door latch sensor indicated door opened (left rear), turning on cabin lights and startling driver. had to make emergency stop to identify cause. problem keeps repeating.

Constant door adjar warnings. upon closing the drivers door, the door adjar warning goes off, and i can not lock my door after this warning goes off. not only that, but if it is throwing this door adjar warning when you park your car, the dome lights will stay on and drain your battery. this is an engineering failure, and needs have a recall issued. if you can not lock your doors while you are driving....now days that is a huge safety issue. can you say carjacking waiting to happen?? think about your family, driving in a car with this problem...not a good feeling huh? make this a recall ford! stand behind your vehicles that you sell !!!!!

Driver door switch, door ajar stays on all the time, car always thinks th door is open.

I hit just a little over 60 k miles on my 2013 ford edge and i was also due for an oil change. i took my car to the ford dealership and when it was getting serviced, they offered me maintenance on my car as it was due. i declined. when i got in my car the 'door ajar' light started to sound so i opened and shut my door but the problem would not correct. i went about my daily routines and it has not stopped and it's very annoying and the interior lights won't shut off causing the panels to become very hot. now the inside panel/screen has frozen up and i keep having to reset it. i called ford service department and they only want me to bring it in (so they can charge me the $500+ to fix it). this is a ripoff!!! my door won't lock either. i live alone in a rather large city and there are beggars on just about every corner. this morning, one came up to my car and tapped on my window wanting money. my doors would not lock and i was scared to death. anyone can open my door at a stop light or wherever i am and i am not secure. ford knows this is happening and will do nothing about it. it's a scam to get money from everyone having this issue and i am now concerned for my safety.

Door ajar signal & interior lights remain on when door is closed. causes a night driving hazard since lights stay on when driving, leaves interior lights on which drains the battery when car is off & in park, & unable to lock doors when in vehicle whether or not you are in drive. happens multiple times a day over multiple weeks & months.

Door ajar light remains on while the door is completely closed and seated. ford states that the latch had to be replaced at a cost of $465. multiple other professional opinions have stated that the latch is unnecessary and that there have been numerous complaints regarding the door ajar light remaining on after cleaning various parts, replacing parts, and spending large amounts of money on patch fixes. the light came on intermittently approximately one month ago and gradually stayed on as time progressed. originally, i could close the open and close the door up to 3 times and the door ajar light would turn off. over time the light would continually stay on. this began to drain the vehicle battery as well.

Door ajar front passenger

Door ajar alarm will not turn off with door fully shut. this is second time after we paid to have repaired approx. one year ago.

The door ajar light light will come on while driving as there was not light on when one started the trip but comes on after driving a bit, and have to slam the door several times and also cause the interior lights to come on. have to be careful as some times the light does not go off when car is parked. feel it is a hazard to be driving and the door ajar light come on after driving a while in traffic

Purchased car jan 2017, started having troubles 5 months later + sunroof won't open, then when does, won't close. go to put in park, tells you car isn't in park when it is and seat won't move! airbag light comes on at random and stays on. of course it goes off when you take it to the dealership! low air tire pressure light comes on and stays on no matter the temperature outside. no problem with tires... trying to talk to anyone on the cars phone feature hasn't worked since week 2... keeps dropping calls even when sitting in the same place which is extremely frustrating when talking to my truck driver husband! happens whether driving or stationary! really starting to feel like we got stuck with a lemon here and no money for another car!

Door latch system malfunction. this triggers a door adjar signal in the vehicle. this ultimately keeps the interior lights on and prohibits you from locking the doors of the vehicle

2013 ford edge 3.5l v6 sel the door ajar warning comes on even when the door is completely closed. this causes the interior lights to come on randomly, even while driving at night (mostly 2 lane country roads). i have to stand outside the vehicle when i am done driving and open and shut the door anywhere from 10-20 times before it goes off. this has drained at least 2 batteries by randomly coming on in the middle of the night. i have replaced the switch, the entire lock system twice now. the dealer wants $500 to fix. i can't afford to pay $500 every few months for a bad design by ford. this is obviously a known issue and has been for quite sometime. just about every edge owner has had to deal with this. ford needs to come up with the proper fix for all doors and at their expense. the consumer is getting ripped off by ford with this issue.

The door sensors in this vehicle do not sense that the door is closed when it is. this leads to being unable to lock the doors while driving, it also causes the interior lights to remain on when the car is off even after the door is closed and the car is locked which drains the battery. occasionally, the door will sense that it is closed after slamming it. this has led to an arm injury that i sustained when attempting to do this repeatedly from the inside of the vehicle. this is an ongoing issue and not a one-time occurrence.

While vehicle was under warranty, door ajar sensor indicated driver's side door was ajar when it wasn't. dealer cleaned sensor and it worked for awhile. now vehicle is out of warranty and sensor is failing again, but this time while it was parked in my garage for the night the parking lights and dome lights came on because sensor indicated the driver's side door was ajar.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated that the wrench warning indicator flashed and the vehicle had a sudden loss of power. the vehicle had to be turned off and restarted to reset the code. the check engine warning indicator also illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer issued a technical service bulletin, but there was no recall to provide a solution. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

The driver door ajar alarm continually is initiated even though the door is completely closed. this can cause interior lights to stay on and drain battery when the vehicle is parked. this alarm will continue when the vehicle is in motion. re-opening and closing the door sometimes solves the problem. if alarm cannot be cancelled, doors don't always lock when vehicle is in motion.

The left rear door ajar notification light on the dash will not go off, even though the door is shut. which means the dome light stays on and the doors will not lock. this happened when the door was opened, but no matter how many times, or how much force is used to close the door, the notification won't go away, and the doors won't lock while in motion.

Engine control module-pcm. after 3 years of replacing/repairing items on my car, they now say that the pcm is the cause. i have replaced multiple sensors, catalytic converter, drive shaft, turbo, cooling system, and the list goes on. had the pcm been diagnosed the first time my check engine light came on and replaced the sensor, i could of saved a lot of time. every time i would go in, the diagnostic test would show 02 sensor which was replaced numerous times, then they would say catalytic converter, so on so on going down the list. i would get stranded on the highway because the car would completely shut down. not one person in the past 3 years said the pcm was to blame. after a week of trying to diagnosis my car after once again being stranded on the highway, they are saying the pcm. the mechanic states that the computer module is on back order with ford. the ford rep states that they are selling them faster than they can be made. if this part is on back order (2 weeks) and can't keep them in stock, there seems to be an issue with the pcm for fords. everything that i have read states it is very hard to diagnosis a pcm but there needs to be a code that appears when it is faulty because this could of been covered under warranty 3 years ago but instead, i have paid a lot of out of pocket to get to this point of replacing the pcm. pcm in high demand with ford indicates a red flag for this part and issue. please review.

The driver side door says it's ajar when it's closed. and you cannot lock the vehicle and the light stay on longer. it's only on the driver side front door. the light comes on when the vehicle is moving

The door ajar warning for my drivers side stays on all the time, even when door is securely closed. this has caused interior lights to remain on and battery life to be drained. the doors will not lock while driving.

The "door ajar" light comes when the door is fully latched, the door can be slammed repeatedly and the light stays on. the interior dome light stays lit creating night vision problems, the doors will not lock, these two problems create very important safety issues. this is not an isolated problem and has been documented numerous times

The door sensor in drivers door is not working. it says it's ajar when it's closed tightly. issue is when i am driving it will just pop on and interior lights pop on and i have to shut door several times for it sense it's shut and it may not stay that way. it is dangerous when lights pop on at night make it hard to see road have to pull over. other down side is if i don't stand outside my car when i get out to make sure the interior lights shut off otherwise will drain my battery as it is not sensing door is closed.

When the windshield wiper speed control is turned off, the wiper continues to run. have not found a way to make it stop. searching databases online, reveals a problem that is quite common. this product should be recalled and replaced by the manufacturer due to early failure and a large number of complaints.

Drivers door ajar warning will not go off. found out there is a problem with the latch and i replaced the latch. after researching this i found this is a prevalent problem that ford won't acknowledge.

Door ajar light is on constantly

Door ajar warning remains on after doors have been closed tightly. lights remain on and drains battery. driver door ajar light comes on randomly.

The door ajar light is coming on even when the door is closed. this is preventing the dome lights from turning off in order to drive and also draining the battery. is is a safety issue at night and when i park my car and the battery dies.

Driver door open signal stays on, even after opening and closing door multiple times

The door ajar light and notifications remain on after the door has been closed. this happens every time we drive the car

Door adjar stays on and lights do not shut off which leads to my battery dying and i can't tell if the driver side door is ever shut properly.

Door ajar sensor light and interior lights will not shut off when door is closed. will not always lock if sensor believes door is ajar. takes many attempts to get sensor to turn off.

Door ajar sensor goes off even though door is closed properly. this happens while stationary. dings to 'shift to park'. started off with having to close and reclose the door on occasion. now it's up to 8-10 times in a row before the door ajar sensor stops. car alarm won't engage. have also had to drive with indicator constantly dinging while driving telling me to stop and close door. locks won't engage while driving which is a safety issue. called my local ford service center and they said they had to do a diagnostic...which will cost me over 100 dollars even though i have the extended warranty. there seems to be quite a few complaint regarding this issue. costs to repair run between $350-500 according to reports on forums. my car has 50,000 and is maintained impeccably. would seem because the number of complaints and the safety issue of driving with the sensor going off and not being able to lock the door while driving, this should be a recall issue. this started a couple months ago and has gotten continually worse and more often.

Door ajar light came on and would not go out. the door was shut completely. the lights inside the car therefore stayed on as it thought the door was open. this progressively got worse as lights showed up on dash and beeping started- telling me to close the door. this seems to be a known problem for ford- lots and lots of complaints online about the exact issue- which is where i found out what it was. i had to pay to have a dealer fix this- $553.46. *tr

The door ajar light will not go off on my 2013 ford edge when the door is securely shut. this causes the interior dome to remain on while driving causing a serious driving obstruction and dangerous condition. it is also draining the battery.

I have a 2013 ford edge and the drivers side door ajar indicator remains illuminated even after the door is shut. it was intermittent at first, but now the system always thinks the door is ajar. when i lock it with my keyfob, it locks but the lights stay on and it honks twice, indicating that it thinks a door is open. this will cause the cars interior and exterior lights to remain on for an extended period of time, draining the battery. this is ridiculous. not to mention the dome lights staying on while driving at night is a safety concern because it impedes my ability to drive safely because i can't see outside as well with lights on inside.

At 89000 miles i keep getting a "driver door ajar" warning while i am driving. i looked online to see that many people have the same issue with this vehicle at or about the 90k mile mark. the battery will drain because the car thinks the door is open, the lights stay on in the car thus draining battery.

When all doors are closed, the door ajar lamp will illuminate. interior lights stay on and unable to lock doors while in the vehicle. battery drains
