Throttle body is causing car to stop at times while driving at an elecrated rate of speed for no reason. this should not be happy in a car that is a 2012 and only has 68000 miles. this happens on an open highway. it has happened multiple times, i selected the last time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while the contact's daughter was driving 55 mph, she smelled an abnormal fuel odor. the driver stated that fuel spewed threw the engine compartment. the contact arrived at the scene, cut the fuel line, attached another rubber fuel line onto the engine compartment, and was able to drive home. the contact called autonation ford (20777 katy fwy, katy, tx 77450, (281) 305-8949), but no assistance was provided. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was unknown. *tr
Intermittent loss of brakes. brake peddle goes to the floor board. also engine has now died twice when idling once at a stop, once while parked.
Vehicle displays a warning "vehicle coolant over temperature" the vehicle had been inspected twice and the technicians claimed not to have been able reproduce the error and also claimed that the computer was not "spitting" out any errors. the message displays within the first file miles after the car has been stationary for more than 2 hours and it is displayed for 10-20 seconds.
After researching ford edge research there were so many complaints of people having the same thing occur to them. my car will start and be driving then all of a sudden the car literally looses all power and the car shuts down. this has happened to me twice and it appears that ford doesn't want to issue a recall on this. people's lives are in danger, there is no warning of when this will happen and then you stuck sitting on the road while in drive as your car lost power.
While driving down the road and approaching a stop sign or red light the vehicle stalls and losses all power, no steering, brakes are hard to apply. this is extremely scary in traffic
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. town and country ford nashville (101 anderson ln, madison, tn) was contacted and diagnosed that the turbo bypass solenoid was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer twice where it was diagnosed that two more solenoids were faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred again. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they diagnosed that the turbo assembly was defective and needed to be replaced. the failure was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 83,000.
After pulling out in traffic on 1/15/18, going about 50 mph, my 2012 ford edge suddenly lost power and the wrench warning light appeared. i had to shut the car down and restart it several times to slowly get it out of traffic - each time the wrench warning light appeared and the vehicle lost power. finally, after getting out of traffic i shut it down and let it sit for a few minutes, restarted it and this time the awd warning light appeared but my car is not an awd vehicle. then the wrench light appeared again. had it towed to the local dealer. they couldn't find any computer memory record of what happened and had their technician drive it home to see if the problem duplicated itself. it did not. after 3 days at the dealership they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and i picked it up and drove it home. i should add that my vehicle has only 26,000 miles on it. in reading these complaints mine is not the only complaint about this issue and ford needs to figure out and repair those vehicles affected by this problem. this is definitely a safety issue!
I started my 2012 edge and heard the starter take longer to turn over and start the car. within moments the check engine icon appeared. i took my edge in to auto hobby shop located on a military installation. the service representative used his code reader machine to view code p0456. which he said it indicated a minor fuel leak. he performed a smoke check said he noticed smoke leaking. i called my local ford dealership to check if there were any fuel system recalls. they said there was, but not for my vin. of the 3 recalls out for a 20012 edge, i only recieved one. are recalls only for specific years/models/vin's? how can i get my issue repaired? could my vin be added to the recall if i had a relating issue?
While driving my 2012 ford edge limited with less than 60000 miles the vehicle just died in the middle of traffic, no steering, no power nothing. the problem has happened close to 15 times.
Vehicle suddenly stops going, no acceleration. happens without warning, forcing you to get off the road. must shut off vehicle and restart. creates a very hazardous situation where you can be traveling on the interstate going 65 mph & suddenly have no power! engine is running but there's no acceleration whatsoever. my warranty just ran out & i have less than 36000.0 miles on this car! only happens when you're traveling which means you have no way of preparing & puts your life in jeopardy.
I was driving on a busy, city street at approximately 30mph when my 2012 ford edge sport lost power and the "wrench" warning light came on. i had to carefully move towards the right lane and was able to coast into the parking lot of a convenience store. i turned it off, waited 10 minutes, and it started up again. i drove home the 3 miles without incident. the same afternoon, i drove it to the nearest ford dealer to have it checked out. their report showed no codes and told us there was nothing they could do. i drove it that night about 30 miles without any problems. the next morning, i exited my neighborhood tract into a busy intersection where the car died again. i barely coasted once again to safety after trying to make it through the intersection with the threat of oncoming traffic. this was terrifying. i called a tow truck and the car was towed to the same dealer where they continue to say there is no code and they cannot duplicate the problem after driving it. they did replace the battery, saying that it was low, even though the battery is less than one year old. i am not confident that replacing the battery will fix the problem and they don't seem confident either. they have had the car for 5 days now and want us to pick up the car up tomorrow. how can i feel secure driving my family in a car that has put me in this dangerous predicament? i have spoken to the service manager, ford regional managers, and none of them are empathetic to this situation and they offer no solution.
2012 ford edge. consumer writes in regards to engine failure. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle would rapidly lose acceleration. the failure was intermittent therefore, the dealer could not duplicate or, repair the vehicle. the fuel inlet failed, as well. updated 11/07/2017*js
Engine came on and vehicle slows down or stalls when driving. dealer diagnosed problem was throttle body #at4z-9e926-b and replaced it at a cost of $333.23. dealer and georgina at ford customer service stated no warranty or "customer satisfaction program" coverage for cost. problem is same as ford escape covered in program.
While driving, the check engine light illuminates along with a sudden loss of power indicating "limp" mode has been entered. power off the car followed by restart seems to clear the code and allow normal operation with good engine power. electronic throttle body seems to be the culprit. this is a rather dangerous occurrence when driving on busy, crowded streets and freeways. this has happened multiple times. most recent is 24 september 2017.
Repeated problem with this vehicle. first door ajar light has been repaired because it would not shut off the interior lights (not legal to drive with them on) and therefore drained battery. safety hazard. ecoboast failed and we were told by the dealer that it was a safety hazard and that we could not drive the car....big expense! now a second door ajar light won't go off....doors do not lock while the vehicle is moving. somebody needs to step up on these issues and do what's right. i cannot believe that specific vehicles were recalled for these issues when many others are experiencing, and paying for the exact same problem on the same year vehicle. something smells about this. majorly disappointed in ford and nhtsa. please note that the listed complaints are not the only ones we've had over the past year.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact allowed the vehicle to cool down and restarted the vehicle. additionally, the all wheel drive indicator and wrench icon illuminated. the contact called groove ford (located at 10039 e arapahoe rd centennial, co 80112 720-466-2895) and was informed to contact ford customer service. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 60,000.
My check engine light is on, shows code p0299 which refers to an underboost condition with the turbo or supercharger system. my mechanic spoke to a dealership who stated they've put 3 parts in the vehicle they have in the shop and its still not fixed. sounds like its a common issue. can you investigate for a recall?
Fuel system stops working (throttle body). car looses power, pressing gas pedal does nothing. must get off road very quickly while drifting. very unsafe.
Car motor lost power during high way, i was passing other cars and in heavy traffic, i almost crash and put my family and other in a very high risk because the car motor just die while drive 7o miles per hour. my family and i are still in shock!!!! i keep reading about what could be wrong, i took the car to the dealer for service and they recognize the problem very quick, seems to be a known issue, ford should fix this under a recall, my car is out of warranty (51k miles) and i will have to pay for the fix as well. somebody is going to get hurt, help fix this please!

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while driving 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning in the middle of an intersection after exiting the freeway. the contact stated that the vehicle had an error message that displayed "key not detected" once the vehicle stalled. in addition, the contact placed the vehicle in neutral and was able to restart the vehicle. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 75,000.
On five occasions recently, moving at normal speed on city streets, suddenly lost power and would only crawl along to curb. i stopped the engine, waited a few moments, and started again. it functioned normally. the dealer said all was normal on three separate occasions. i suspect it is the electronic throttle body, but i can't be sure. my dealer won't replace it in spite of all of the similar reports on the net. i consider it to be too risky to drive.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. the contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the wrench and the oil pressure warning message illuminated. the contact mentioned that prior to the failure being experienced, the oil was changed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 35,500.
While driving at 65 miles an hour on a major highway my vehicle completely lost power. the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate, steer and break. luckily i was able to get it to limp off the shoulder where i turned the vehicle off and it immediately restarted. traffic was slow so no injury was caused but next time i may not be so lucky. my local ford dealer is trying to tell me that it is a power steering problem and they will not even listen to the fact that the vehicle lost all power.
I was driving in rush hour traffic in the far left lane when my car suddenly and without warning lost all forward momentum. a wrench light came on and it immediately slowed to about 1 mph. i had to cross four lanes of traffic and was able to come to a stop safely in the right median. i turned my car off and restarted it and the light was no longer on. reading online this seems to be an ongoing problem with no resolution. ford needs to issue a recall immediately. being that the car stops immediately and not to a gradual stop this is a huge safety concern of being hit by other drivers while trying to get to safety.
Sometimes when i put the car into park, i get repeated warnings to "shift to park". if i don't jiggle the button on the shift knob, my seat and other electrical components will not respond. i have to start the truck a few times, put it through the gears (in drive and reverse), then i press the shift release button several times then the warning stops and my driver seat functions to allow me to get out of the car. this is a pain and the dealer said that if the problem couldn't be duplicated, then they cant do anything about it. i have had the truck in 2 times about this - the transmission shifts hard into gear after slowing or coasting and then accelerating. almost feels like i have hit something when it happens. i'm very concerned, having two toddlers in the truck. i also took video of the parking, shifting into park issue. i just want it fixed....
While driving with cruise control set, vehicle going up a hill there was a sudden loss of power. the engine died (zero rpm indicated.) a few seconds later, the "low engine oil pressure" warning was displayed. loss of power steering/brakes. vehicle was carefully maneuvered off the highway. attempted to restart repeatedly. engine would only run for a few seconds, then died. had vehicle towed to the ford dealer. no engine trouble codes detected. after sitting overnight, vehicle started and ran without issue. this is a definite safety hazard when a vehicle stalls at high speed on the highway. *tr
I was driving 35 mph on a flat road on a sunny day that was 75 degrees. my ford edge all of a sudden lost all power and the awd off indicator came on alone with a little wrench light. i could not accelerate or do anything. i limped to the side of the road and put it in park when my car began to shake, so i shut it off. i sat there for a few minutes and started it again, tried to go back on the road and it did the exact same thing except the engine light came on. i put it in park and shut it off and turned it back on again. i limped home because it was sunday and the service department was closed. this has happened 4 times in the past 2 months. i am very upset, and i am 8 months pregnant, i do not want to have to worry about this when i have the baby in the car. i am taking it to the dealership tomorrow, but i do see that there have been other people with the same problem. i do not think i should be responsible for any expenses that may come with this problem. *tr
A message warning "shift to park" appears on the car dashboard when the car has already been put into park position. this warning message disallows the driver to turn the car off - shut of the engine. the car is already in park and message light continues to be on display on dashboard. *tr
While driving at 45mph, vehicle lost power to the extent that i had to pull over on the shoulder. a mechanic wrench light appeared on the dash. vehicle remained running but idle was very erratic. after ignition was turned off, i used a code reader and dtc "p2111" appeared on the reader (throttle body failure). after clearing the code, i restarted the vehicle and engine idle appeared normal. drove vehicle for 20 miles with no other abnormalities. during a brief review of ford recalls, tsb's, etc. i am finding that there are known issues with the throttle body on other models but for some reason not the edge. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the engine lost power. the vehicle was merged into a parking lot. the next day, the vehicle was restarted and driven to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the throttle body and motor assembly were defective. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
Vehicle stalled in the middle of a busy freeway. this incident happened after 45 minutes of normal driving with outside temperatures about mid 80's and a/c on minimal level. just before the incident i was driving at average speed of 65 mph when traffic gradually slowed down to around 20 mph. without warning vehicle lost engine power and lost power steering in the middle of the interstate highway. all warning lights came on but the radio and fan still on. i struggled with the steering wheel while other drivers passed me as the traffic begun to pick up speed again. i was lucky no one hit me and was able to coast to the median by signaling with my left arm extended outside the window. since it was a long weekend the local ford service shop was closed until tuesday. after two days of testing and checking ford service couldn't find anything wrong. they checked their database nationwide but no similar concerns were found. i ran the onboard diagnostics and everything is ok. the irony is that the vehicle was in the same local ford service shop eight days prior to this incident to address a recall and for a 30k miles maintenance check. *tr
Car stalled while driving no signs of failure or lights or codes. *tr
Driving from columbus, ohio to louisville, ky i was stuck in slow moving traffic due to an accident on interstate 71 at exit 14. while creeping along, my edge low oil pressure indicator light came on and the engine cut off leaving the vehicle without power - battery accessories; such as the radio still worked. best i can describe is similar to the oil pump 'burped'. i pulled into the emergency lane, placed the car in park, restarted the car, allowed to idle for a minute or so and pulled back into traffic. my concern is that the engine power shut down leaving me without power steering or accelerator power. had this happened at a higher speed, i think it would have been worse. i have driven the car for 3 days since this incident and no issues. i plan to take the vehicle to the dealer this week to see if indicator light memory can be reviewed. *tr
On multiple occasions while driving between the speeds of 25mph and 80mph on european roads/highways the car loses ability to accelerate regardless of pressure on gas pedal. i had to pull over, luckily avoiding cars and possible collisions. car displayed yellow wrench and "awd off" on left side display. once in safe area i turned off the car, waited for a few minutes and turned it back on without immediate incident. this happened a total of 7 times within a week, however, after contacting ford service stateside i was told to go to an italian ford dealership. however, i stopped at two ford service centers located in vicenza, italy and the mechanics will not touch my car due to the model not being sold anywhere in europe. the problem stopped up until this past week where it has happened again twice within 3 days at, luckily, low speeds and avoiding all cars/hazards. we will attempt to bring it to a local mechanic in hopes of getting the problem fixed as we are leaving for the states in less than a month due to military pcs orders. *tr
After seeing the recent issues w/ the ford v6 ecoboost engine, i thought it wise to tell about the 2.0l ecoboost engine in my edge. after owning the vehicle less than a year, i was driving thru a neighborhood at a very slow pace, i started to make a right turn & the car simply died. no shaking, no warning. lost all power steering & engine compression. turned off, restarted & all was well. took to dealership the next week, if we cant replicate it we cant fix it. last month, my wife was turning right slowly into a parking lot & it happened again. this time ford kept the car for over a week trying to duplicate the issue, no luck. if we cant find it, we cant fix it. i was told it could be numerous things & no bulletins or fixes at this time. so my pregnant wife now drives a brand new vehicle that decides to die in traffic while turning, maybe in front of oncoming traffic,. i have read numerous complaints online about this same thing happening to other edge ecoboost vehicles, but alas no fix. in the recent articles i have been reading it says the 2.0l ecoboost engine has not been affected, i feel that is incorrect. i think ford needs to look into all ecoboost engines & find a fix now or replace the vehicle. *tr
