Door ajar warning light comes on when door is closed and stays on. doors will not lock even if manually actuated. door is actually fully closed but not locked. warning light is actuated when closing door and starting vehicle. car can be driven but doors are unlocked.
The driver door sensor is not working correctly. the driver door ajar notification remains on once the door is closed, and the interior light will not turn off. i also cannot lock my doors. i end up driving with the interior light on because it will not go out. at night time, this is especially dangerous, not to mention it drains the battery by staying on when not being driven. when i exit the car and shut the door, it takes me up to five minutes sometimes to open and re-shut the door to eventually get the sensor to register and the light to go off. it's ridiculous and frustrating. i hope that this issue will lead to a recall because i have seen a lot of complaints about it. my car just hit 62k miles. i saw others having the same issue at the same mileage.
The door ajar light stays on when all doors are closed and the interior lights stay on. also i was not able to open the car with the security code from the outside the car i had to use the key. i was park when i first notice the passcode was not working then i used the key i closed all the doors and still said one door was open, so i make sure all were close. i realize there was something wrong so i just drove the car like that. also i just bought the car so i don't know if that has happened before.
My passenger door indicates that when closed that it is not. the dome light stays on and so does the dash indicator. it has also done it while driving down the road. creepy, since i'm disabled and have hands controls to drive. so i have to pull over and reclose the door. plus once the lights come on i can't see while driving at night. *tr

Door ajar warning message on while driving or parked. causes interior lights to stay on 10 minutes before turning off when parked. interior lights will turn on and alarm horn will sound intermittently when parked. i pulled the fuse for the horn relay, don't know when it will sound. i feel it's unsafe to drive without a horn. while driving doors do not lock in fact they unlock after locking them with lock switch. *tr
On october 2016, the driver was westbound on 2 lane route 40 near springfield, ohio. a medical condition caused the driver to pass out. the auto veered off the road initially traveling approximately 40 miles per hour. it crossed through a yard and hit nose first into a hill. almost $10,000 worth of damage was caused to the front end of the vehicle. the airbag did not inflate and the driver sustained head and facial injuries due to contact with the steering wheel. the driver also sustained deep brusing to the chest due to the seat belt restraint. we are interested to know why the airbag did not inflate and protect the driver. the head injuries and vision problems continue to restrict the driver form being able to drive again.

While driving, the door ajar light remains on even though all the doors are completely closed. the image indicates the passenger door is ajar. because of this, the dome lights remain on and i am unable to lock the doors while driving. *tr
The 'door ajar' warning light on my 2011 edge periodically comes on and stays on. the warning indicates that various doors are open. sometimes it's the driver door; other times it's the left passenger door or the back gate. each time the doors were closed properly, however the sensor thinks that the doors are open. this malfunction causes the interior dome lights and the exterior lights on the side mirrors to remain on, which drains the battery. originally, i thought this issue was a problem specific to my vehicle. however, in an attempt to understand the problem, i conducted an internet search and discovered that the 'door ajar' warning is a common and well known problem with ford products including the edge. this problem is not a result of use or wear and tear of the vehicle; it clearly is a mechanical /engineering flaw with the vehicle. i feel that this situation is a safety issues and should be corrected by ford motor company. on september 19, 2016, i sent an email to the ford motor company customer relationship center (crc), explaining the problem and seeking help. i was assigned a case number (cas-10612005-p1f4g7) and was told to contact a local dealer to diagnosis the problem. on september 27, 2016, a service department representative from beau townsend ford informed me that the problem was with the door latch and the cost to repair is approximately $385.00 per latch. he also informed me that ford motor company would not pay for the repair.next, i called the crc to appeal the decision.i was told that the problem was not a recall item and that ford would not repair the vehicle. i was also told that i had no further recourse regarding this issue.

My drivers door will not latch. due to this my dome light remains on which causes it to be dangerous to drive my car at night. it also drains my battery on a regular basis. my local dealer did something after i purchased the vehicle to "fix it", however it has continued to happen since i purchased the vehicle from a ford dealer almost to years ago.

Driver door ajar warning on dash, and interior lights on, while door closed. interior lights on at night interfere with night vision and, especially, rear view mirror vision. also drains battery over night. started as an intermittent problem, but now constant.
When closing the door the door latch doesn't latch properly and the warning light the door is ajar light stays on keeping dome lights lit. door can be opened and closed 5,6 times and still the same problem. sometimes the door doesn't even latch, non of the doors lock, and at night its dangerous to drive with dome lights lit. i paid for the repair once shortly after the warranty expired and was told by the dealer when the problem started again there was nothing that they could do and i would need to pay to have it fixed. i so mad i'm ready to trade the car in on a toyota. to make the issue worse is every car you've made since i bought this has had door latch recalls. my boyfriend just got a recall (15s16) for his 2013 fusion and he has never had an issue with his doors. i'm just waiting for the door to come open again while i'm driving. [xxx] date entered is the last time it happened. it does this on a daily basis. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The door latch sensor in the drivers door is malfunctioning. shows a door ajar warning on instrument cluster when door is actually closed tight. this warning indication prevent the doors from locking when driving. big safety issue! it also causes interior light to stay on, and night time driving with that interior light glare is a safety issue. the dome lights have also stayed on when parked, causing the battery to go dead. this issue first was noticed 7/10/16 and continues intermittently each time the vehicle is driven. *tr

At about 75,000 miles my door adjar light for my driver door would not turn off. it turns out the sensor of the door latch assembly is bad. this causes safety hazards because my interior lights will not turn off when the door is shut and it will not allow me to lock the doors from the interior when the car is in motion. i've spoken with ford representatives and this is a known, common problem but they haven't done anything about the issue. i think a recall of the faulty product that causes safety hazards would be appropriate.
Door ajar warning. there's a common issue with many fords where there's an issue in the door latch assembly that triggers the door ajar warning light and leaves the dome lights on. this is a safety issue if one is trying to reclose the (already closed) door while the car is moving and the dome light remaining on affects night vision. this happens after car is started and remains all the time the car is turns on - in motion or not
Had problems with door side sensor saying the door was open when it wasn't. now the passenger side door is doing the same thing. the doors will not lock while driving if the door sensor is saying the door is open. this is a safety hazard. also, if the door open sensor is saying the door is open once you have gotten out of your vehicle and shut the door, the interior light will stay on and this drains your battery.
