The driver's door light ajar sensor stays on even after the door is shut and keeps the interior dome light on. this has been happening on and on again off again basis for years. recently it is happening all the time. when we get in and start the car no matter how many times the door is opened and shut the notice stays on. this will then continue as long as the car is in reverse and makes backing up at night very hard as you can't see with the interior lights on. when backing from the driveway into the street you cannot see if there is traffic. when the car is put in drive the dome light will finally go out after a short period of time. if we park the car and lock it the dome light will stay on for 5 or more minutes as it registers as the front door being ajar. neighbors have stopped at our home to tell us we left our interior lights on.

Rear hatchback door falls

I have received faulty error messages on the vehicle, for example the other day i was driving down the road and the light came on like the car was overheated however there was no smoke coming from the car and the temperature gauge never moved up. my passenger car door light sensor says that there is a door ajar when all doors are closed whether the vehicle is stationary or driving along the city street. when i open the front passenger door and close it sometimes the inside lights remain on in the vehicle.

Door lach for dirver side it would not close. keeps door open. message with ajar door open. this issue occures while driving as well. this is a hazard issue. also, kills the battery as car could not be locked.

Driver side door latch sensor stay on indicating doors is open even when it's already closed. interior lights stay on and drains battery life leaving consumers stranded.

Tire pressure and door sensors failure.

Front door ajar light will not turn off/stays on. draining my battery this happened to my back door 4 years ago. however, at least i was still under warranty.

The drivers door will not lock and when i do try, it comes unlocked and the lights stay on. the control dings to tell e the door is what.

The driver side door ajar light comes on even if the door is latched.

The door ajar light stays on despite all doors being closed. this in turn prohibits the doors to lock on the vehicle (while driving and parked).the dome light will turn on intermittently, this includes during night time driving and when parked - both creating major safety issues. battery drainage - being left with an inoperable vehicle. visibility - severe glare and limited visibility while driving in darkness. personal safety - doors not looking creates a threat to personal safety (there is a reason car doors lock automatically within a few minutes of takeoff - personal safety). in addition to this, the backup camera went out at 50000miles. so disappointed!

The drivers door ajar sensor comes on all the time while driving and i can't lock the car doors while driving. also the interior and exterior lights won't go out after parking and locking the vehicle. this has been happening for 3 weeks now.

The door ajar light for my driver's side door will not turn off. it's a safety hazard, as i have no idea if my door is closed or actually ajar and i drive on the highway often. i have an extended warranty i bought with my car, and was sold this as bumper-to-bumper everything covered besides the brakes and tires. the ford service center wanted $450 to repair since they won't cover this under my extended warranty. they won't give me my car back without paying a $100 diagnostics fee. 10 seconds on google shows this is a common problem already being investigated by nhtsa. please do not let up. this needs to be recalled, or covered under warrenty.

Driver door ajar sensor stays on when vehicle is turned on and in motion.

Door wouldnt latch. got out of car to try and close door. door handle fell off. but door latched. got into car. door was latched. started driving door came unlatched and opened while driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that the driver's side door failed to work and the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Driver's door ajar light stays on even after door is closed.

Faulty door ajar switch - replaced door ajar switch in driver door at 39,500 and again 91,000 miles. rear driver side door has produced the same issue and is now consistent for 1 month.

The door ajar light came on and my drivers door was shut. eventually the latch completely fell off and the door handle too. we couldn't open the drivers side door or roll the window down. this is a known recall issue with other ford vehicles.

On 2011 ford edge on the right front passenger door, a "door ajar" warning comes on and cannot be turned off, even when the door is repeated closed. after many tries, i have been able to get it to turn off. when it is on, the car interior lights stay on, leading to a dead battery, and issues with locking and knowing if the door is really closed. the "door ajar" light even came on once when the car was standing and door had not been touched

Ford edge 2011 - door ajar when door is closed. very poor construction of this part. the door sensor is located in the door latch. the door ajar will not let you lock your car doors and also keeps your overhead dome light on therefore draining your car battery. ford should recall this as they know it is a huge problem and a defective part. this can happen on all doors and at $500 each you are having to pay $2,000.00 just to keep this from draining your battery. how can anyone think this is ok? i never even use my back seat and my car only has 83,000 miles. if you have an extended warranty , strange it does not cover this. you can only buy this part from ford. this is not right . ford used faulty parts., yet they seem to think it's ok because they said there are no recalls because no one died. is that what is takes to have a recall ? ford knows this is wrong, yet will not recall because they don't have to.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that the instrument panel constantly indicated that the rear driver side door was open when, in fact, the door was completely closed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Driver's door ajar light stays on along with interior lights when door is closed

Drivers side door latch is defective. the door ajar signal illuminates, but the door is not ajar or if it is cannot be closed.

The drivers side rear door ajar light stays on after opening and closing the door. door ajar light comes on randomly and will sometimes go out after opening and closing the door after several attempts. the door ajar light will come on after the car has been stationary for both short and long periods of time. the dome light will stay on if the door ajar light stays on. we had the same issue happen with the drivers side door and had to pay to have it replaced. this is apparently a defective part for this year and model and would like to have it replaced.

Lift gate is corroded and rusting in big chunks at the point where the lift gate and the rubber seal meet along the inside bottom of the gate. also have rusting under driver side rear wheel well fender. vehicle is within 36k and and very little adverse weather driving. lift gate is now in danger of opening as corrosion is working its way to lock connector.

Ongoing issue since 03/2017, car only has 64k miles on it. door ajar light comes on and stays on when driver or passenger door is opened then closed. the dome light stays on while car is in reverse only turning off once car is in drive dangerous when backing at night. the bigger concern is none of the doors will stay locked when the car is in motion and this door ajar light is on. this light stays on about 90% of the time, opening and closing door over and over on occasion will turn it off.

The drivers side door latch does not catch. this causes the "drivers door ajar" warning. this also causes the lights to no turn off when the car is parked and turned off. this resulting the battery being drained. when battery is drained the car won't start and can leave the driver stranded.

Door ajar indicator always on for driver side door. as a result, the interior lights stay on and doors don't lock when travelling.

Door ajar light won't go out when closing door, or light just randomly comes on while driving, this is causing dome lights and console light to come on and stay , which can be dangerous in the dark the lights are draining battery even when cars not running , this could leave driver stranded with dead battery at anytime

I bought the 2001 edge used. after two days i noticed the passenger door open alarm came on and i could not remove it. bad sensors. now, both the passenger and driver door alarms stay on. and, it will not allow me to lock my doors, so when i drive the doors are unlocked. my grand daughter opened a back door at a stop light. in addition, due to the sensors, the dome light stays on and drains my battery. looking this up there are a lot of complaints about this issue. to test the issue while driving, my brother opened the door on the interstate doing 70 mph. when i try to lock the doors they reopen immediately. this is a dangerous situation. it happened 2/6/2017 and has remained this way.

My passenger door ajar light/alarm comes on randomly while driving down the road, and sometimes it happens after someone gets in and shuts the door. this weekend it happened while i was driving at night during terrible rain...causing the interior lights to come on and nearly blind the driver(me). it doesn't seem to know when the door is open/closed. this also keeps the car from locking correctly...it automatically unlocks because it thinks the door is open. last- the light will remain on when you exit the vehicle which ends up killing the battery. you might think it is ok- but it just decides to trigger the door ajar sensor and lights are on. this has happened in middle of the night, after i thought it was locked up and secure for the night. it also makes me wonder if the door latch is not working and the passenger may be at risk of falling out of the car. ford wants 450.00 to fix a safety problem that is widely complained about and should be remedied without cost to consumer. *tr

Drivers door latch had to be replaced as the warning light on the dash would not go off and eventually the doom light stayed on over night as well. if the car was running, the warning light was on.

Door ajar light stays on when the door is completely closed/latched. that does not allow to lock the doors automatically (after the speed is more than 5 mph) or even manually since they unlock immediately. that is a safety concern. also, the interior lights stay on until you drive, blinding you and this can be a safety issue at night.

The door latch sensor is failing causing the car to believe door is unlatched. this leaves dome light on inside car even while driving. i understand ford has recalled other models for this failure but not edge. *tr

Door ajar switch not working properly

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that the driver's door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but eventually evolved to a consistent failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the door latch was defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 77,100. the consumer requested a non-takata replacement for the airbag recall. updated 08/10/2017*js

The rear driver-side door indicator switch has become unreliable. it now indicates the rear driver-side door is open a majority of the time. because the car thinks the door is not closed, interior lights do not dim reliably and the doors no longer lock reliably. i don't get the option to do so until the car is well under way.

Takata recall the driver's side door latch does not work properly causing the alarm to go off unexpectedly, as well as "door ajar" displayed when you get into the vehicle and close the door. manually flipping the switch up with fingers sometimes works, but not reliable and seems to be a concern for driving down the interstate hearing air coming in because the door isn't securely latched. this needs to be addressed by ford as it seems to be an engineering error. *tr

Really two complaints: 1) dash/center console lights not shutting down properly and repeatedly turn on/off when car is turned off. results in battery draw and frequent dead batteries and 2) door latch warning light will not turn off and doors do not lock properly when being driven.

Drives door ajar sensor does not always work leaving interior lights on while vehicle is moving. this creates a safety hazard as you cannot see outside at night due to the glare from the interior lights staying on as a result of the door ajar sensor not working properly. *tr

Door sensor indicates door open even when manual closure of the latch mechanism. has caused multiple dead batteries and makes vehicle unreliable. ford denies extended warranty coverage because they claim its a "known manufactures defect"

The door ajar warning lights stays on. this results in the dome light staying on while driving for a short period of time or after the car is off. drained the battery once. also, the door can not be locked. on a much more serious note, the dome light suddenly come on while i'm driving on the highway. this creates a very dangerous situation because i'm unable to see cars around me very well. i went to the ford dealership in feb, 2015 and fixed it once. however, this happens again recently. i really think ford should address this issue! *tr
