My brakes have become very squishy and barely stopping ny car.i hit the brakes hard in traffic on the highway and the car barely stopped. you have to press the peddle clear to the floor for any reaction. took to shop. replaced the master cylinder and the brake booster and the lroblem continues. the shop isn't sure what could be the problem. after internet research it appears there is a module problem and this is been happening with this year of edge very frequently. this is a very dangerous situation and needs adressed!
For several years we have been having problems with the brakes where the pedal would just randomly go to the floor and the brake response would almost go away completely. usually once the car was shut off the brakes would come back and be fine again. they got really bad a little over a year ago and we went to a dealership after learning about a service bulletin for the brake booster. the dealership thought that could be the problem. so on 8/9/18 with 99,703 miles on our car the brake booster was replaced under the extended warranty ford issued. we thought the problem was fixed until 11/26/19. my wife was leaving work and it was a little icy. she activated the abs leaving her work parking lot and the pedal again went all the way to the floor. this time it did not come back. the vehicle was operational but the brake pedal had to be pushed all the way to the floor to work. the car was again taken back to the same dealership who told me they had 3 other vehicles come in with the exact same problem in the last week. after bleeding the brakes and running tests it was determined that the hydraulic control unit that controls the abs system was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. the vehicle now has 127,000 miles and the cost of this repair is $1800. we have contacted ford multiple times after doing to searches on the internet and figuring out that this is a common problem that ford is aware of and will do nothing about. our calls have fallen on deaf ears at ford and their customer service department could only say they are sorry for the problems we are having and there is nothing they can do. brakes are a pretty important part of the car and i have never seen a car with more brake issues than our edge and ford could care less. this was the first ford i've ever purchased but i can guarantee you it will be our last.
Driving home from work and went to apply the brakes and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor..pumped them so it would stop..then drove well under spoed limit until i got got home..1st time it happened was october 2019 coming home from work.
Brakes intermittently go all the way to floor with no warning while driving on city streets (traveling straight). car does not stop. brake failure has happened twice recently, once when going over a railroad track (big bump), and once for no apparent reason. took to ford, and it took them a day to look at the vehicle, and they could not reproduce the issue. they checked all the parts of the brake system and could not find any issue.
During braking there is a hissing sound emanating from the area in front of the brake peddle. the braking action of the car is severely diminished causing reduced braking application during each phase of braking i.e. emergency stopping, normal stopping. this is a safety issue that requires immediate attention. this occurs on each application of the brakes.
When pushed on, brakes petal depresses without breaking sometimes, but othertimes works just fine.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving 45 mph, the contact attempted to brake, but the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. the contact had to stand on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle and keep it from crashing into other vehicles. hall chrysler dodge jeep ram virginia beach (3152 virginia beach blvd, virginia beach, va 23452, (877) 475-0721) was contacted and stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. the dealer wanted to charge $1,700 for a brake booster repair. the contact purchased a bumper to bumper warranty and the dealer stated that they would check to see if the warranty was still in effect. the manufacturer was not contacted. the contact researched the brake failure online and found several complaints, but no recalls. the failure mileage was 60,980. the vin was unknown.
When driving, at any speed, brake pedal intermittently/randomly becomes soft, and goes to the floor when depressed, with little to no reduction in speed. pumping the brakes is required in order to stop. there is no associated noise, as some have reported (such as hissing or sucking air). the mechanic is unable to accurately diagnose or duplicate the issue at this time. he reports that it could be the master cylinder or the hcu/abs module, but at this time we'd just be throwing parts at a problem. no trouble codes are present and all brake system pressures were normal during his troubleshooting. current mileage is 108,000. this is my wife's car, and she regularly transports our kids in it, so to have this type of failure present with relatively few miles is disconcerting.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving at low speeds, the brake pedal felt spongy and depressed almost to the floorboard. the vehicle was taken to grieco ford of fort lauderdale (1333 n federal hwy, fort lauderdale, fl 33304, (844) 648-2686) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the brake booster needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 70,100.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving approximately 20 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard without warning. the contact pushed the brake pedal with force and slowly continued to drive. the vehicle was taken to bohn ford (504-347-7000, located at 3737 lapalco boulevard, harvey, la 70058) where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit failed and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the contact was transferred to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 58,000. *dt *tp
In july 2017, experienced hard to press brakes with hissing noise, warranty extension provided to replace brake booster, 27 months later, similar issue, brakes work but pedal continues to floor. recommeneded master cylinder replacement by dealership and independent mechanic, replaced and still having the same issue - diagnosis is that it is again brake booster which was only covered for a single repair and warrantied for 12 months. no recourse from ford despite many reports of this issue from other customers, expensive and dangerous failure.
I had break issues where the pedal was tight and it took a lot of pressure to stop. took it to the dealer resulting in the break booster being replaced under warranty. maybe 3 months later i had more problems breaking. this time the pedal was soft and would travel to the floor while breaking. this time the dealer says it's the hydraulic control unit. sounds like both parts should be under warranty and replaced at the same time.
Vehicle was traveling apx 35mph went to depress brake at stop light, brake felt stuck halfway, vehicle did not slow down and then brakes make a high pitch beep sound when fully depressed.
Could not stop. had to use both feet on brake to stop. good thing i was only backing out of my driveway. had to have brake booster replaced. a brake booster should last the life time of the car and not be replaced. my edge in a 2011 with 119,000 miles . we never received any letter about this being a problem on the ford edge. . shouldn't ford reimburse us ?
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to respond without warning. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted, but did not assist. the failure mileage was 140,000. the vin was not available
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. there was no warning indicator illuminated before or after the failure. the contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed several times and was able to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to george waikem ford (located at 4321 lincoln way e, massillon, oh 44646, (330) 478-1801) where it was diagnosed that there was total brake system failure due to a failure of the hydraulic pump, brake master cylinder, and hydraulic control unit. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Brake booster failure
Brake booster failure, at time brake pedal hard than suddenly drops, this is a safety issue as my wife ended up past stop sigh and my son almost went through back of garage
The brake pedal needs to be pushed to the floor to stop the car. the car has been completely checked out and everything is fine except this issue. come to find out there has been a recall on the vacuum brake booster which is the issue with my ford edge, but mine isn't covered under the recall. its' the same issue and will cost $894.89 to fix, but ford has wiped their hands of it. this is a safety issue and the car cannot be driven as it is. ford won't tell me why my vin number isn't covered. the brake pedal issue happens 100% of the time when you are attempting to stop the vehicle.
Brakes are hard, the car does not brake easily. it makes a sound like a wind is blowing. as if it had a pressure that would not let the brake tighten
Atlanta recalls i go to use the brakes pedal is real hard the car will not stop was on city streets almost had a accident
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. on several occasions, the driver had to pump the brake pedal multiple times to stop the vehicle. in addition, a hydraulic sound was sometimes present while depressing the brake pedal. the vehicle was taken to bill collins ford (4220 bardstown rd, louisville, ky) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not yet repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 149,000. the vin was unknown.
This complaint deals with a 2011 ford edge in which the vehicle's brakes began to fail considerably at approximately 172,000 miles. after almost $1000 in brake repairs it was finally determined that the vehicle's brake booster had failed. this defect is known to the manufacturer who issued customer satisfaction program 13n02 which allowed replacement of the defective product for vehicles with up to 150,000 miles or through january 15, 2015. this problem presents a dangerous situation, particularly when backing the vehicle when the problem is more prominent. ford dealership was contacted with regards to the complaint and stated that due to the mileage that the repair would not be covered by the 13n02 repair or other programs. the repair cost is quoted by ford at approximately $710.37
While driving under various conditions we experienced intermittent break failures where the break pedal will depress to the floor and breaking power is greatly reduced to the point where stopping becomes an issue. we've experienced this malfunction on highways, city streets and in a parking lot under various weather conditions. there was a recall to replace the "booster box" that was completed on the vehicle in july of 2017. the issue began in june of 2019 and continues.
My 2011 ford edge with brakes at 1/2 use has suddenly begun having breaking issues. pushing the brake usually results in immediate engagement; now it try's to engage but releases and goes to the floor; requires heavy hard pressure taking pedal completely to the floor to stop vehicle. has been one or two instances of intermittent occurrences; but seems to be persistent now. nhtsa needs to do something from the unending list of similar complaints. not any specific driving condition creating the issue to occur. this am i was on an open highway with no stopping/ starting driving; this afternoon i was in town.
Slowing down in city to make a right turn at low speed and pedal went to the floor. i was able to swerve to avoid hitting curb. had to pump brakes and push almost to floor to stop the vehicle. there is fluid in the master brake cylinder and no leaks. brake booster is functional and brakes have plenty of pad. extremely dangerous situation. i will be contacting ford dealer in two days to discuss situation.
Brake booster replaced under recall 13n02 10/30/2017 at no charge. april 2019 booster failed again. ford will not cover under warranty. replacement lasted 16 months and 6958 miles.ford says warranty only covered for one year. the replacement by the dealer , at my expense, is two years.
When applying the brakes the brake pedal sinks to the floor and is hesitant to stop completely. i have had the master cylinder changed, the abs pump has been replaced and the vehicle had the brake booster replaced around 1 year ago due to a ford recall. this vehicle has been in the shop for 3 weeks now and the mechanic cannot seem to fix this issue. this seems to be a well known problem with the brake system for this vehicle and is dangerous to the occupants of the vehicle and others in the surrounding areas. this issue has the potential for random brake loss which can occur in injury or death.
Driving on city streets 35-45mph when i had to apply the brake. brakes felt spongey (no anti lock feel) and the pedal went almost to the floor. this originally occurred mid february 2019, but corrected itself after letting the car sit overnight. it occurred again late march 2019 and this time the condition persisted and made me feel that the brakes could ultimately fail. i checked online and found multiple mentions of this issue with ford edges, but no formal recall - which the dealership later verified. my vehicle is a 2011 with 135,000 miles. the vehicle has had all of its required/recommended maintenance and is in good condition otherwise. the diagnosis was as follows - "found the master with leak and hcu/abs seeping and dump valve, e on found brakes bypassing". the dealer replaced the control and module and also recommended that i replace the master cylinder, which i agreed to allow. expensive repair - just a bit past $1900 with parts and labor
I have problems with the abs sensor. when you hit a big bump or when you brake on ice the brakes shutter & the brake pedal goes to the floor unable to stop. usually i can pump them & i get brakes back. now i can't pump them up, i call it a soft brake, i can not stop fast if a vehicle stops fast in front of me. i was told from my mechanic that it needs abs hcu unit & master cylinder changed. he also told me that they frequently have calls from ford owners that have edge & fusion with the same issue of loosing their brakes, in fact they take bets on how many calls they will get on a snow day or rainy day. i can't believe there hasn't been a recall on this, it is extremely dangerous.
My wife's 2011 ford edge brake pedal goes to floor when trying to stop. problem is intermittent and brakes go back to working normal. this has happened multiple times with my wife driving and twice while i was driving. brake booster was already replaced under recall. i don't think the booster is bad again.i think it is a abs issue.the brake pads are in good shape and the reservoir is full. i have read multiple complaints about this issue. ford needs to tak responsibility and fix this before someone is injured or killed.
Have had car into shop 3 different times for spongy and hard to stop brakes. replace brake booster twice, bleed lines, "fixed" caliper. in reading others it appears there is an issue with the hydraulic control unit or some other identified problem. ford needs to figure this out and issue a recall. this is a serious problem that doesn't need to be ignored and there are numerous examples of reported problems.
While drive 45 miles per hour ran over a raised steel cover in road way the bump caused brake pedal to go to floor, this has occurred before, the brake comes back eventually. it had a brake booster replaced by recall 2015. this has happened twice since then. no action by ford.
Tuesday night 1/22/2019, my daughter described that her car had lost all power while she was driving down a small mostly deserted street in our town when she braked and attempted to turn. she had an extremely difficult time braking and turning the car to get off of the roadway. so, that same evening, i decided to see if it happened to me. it was noted that she had just over a quarter tank of gas so i thought maybe her gas gauge was wrong so i filled the car. we drove around 6 miles when it did happen to me as i braked and attempted to make a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic. fortunately, the vehicles headed my way were quite a bit down the street, and i allowed myself ample time to get across were this to happen. however, this was at night when that street isn't busy. we live off of this street so avoiding during the day isn't an option. during the day when traffic is busy and constant, there would be no way to allow that much time to get across safely. in the months leading up to these power failures, there were at least three instances where we were in a drive thru or stopped at a stoplight where power would be lost, but never when the car was actually in motion as happened twice on 1/22/2019. i found a forum where this has been reported many times not only to ford, but to the nhtsa and nothing by way of a recall has been called for this problem and it appears that someone will be killed prior to something being done. i've read that the throttle body seems to be the issue here and that ford has denied a problem saying they've never heard of this problem when people take these cars to the dealerships. the evidence is all over the internet where people describe the exact same problem. this car will only be driven as needed and absolutely is not allowed onto the highway. please help resolve this known problem before someone is killed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to krieger ford, inc (1800 morse rd, columbus, oh 43229, (614) 888-3320) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for repairs. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 157,000.
Backed into garage and brake pedal went to floor when depressed with no warning. broke several 2 x 4's and pushed the wall out one foot. new brighton ford dealer had determined its a bad abs module and hydraulic control unit (hcu). its been two months without the use of the vehicle as ford can not get a new hcu anywhere in the usa. they say the part has no date to when they will get the part. ford customer service just says they have escalated the part availability part and said to keep checking in with the service manager. service manager does not return messages left on his phone. no one at ford can tell me if or when the part will arrive after we paid 1/2 down to order the part. then they sent us home with a car with defective brakes as they did not want it there indefinitely..
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving 10 mph, the contact attempted to stop the vehicle and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. the vehicle rolled to a stop before striking a pole. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact managed to drive the vehicle home. the vehicle was taken to holman ford of turnersville (3461 route 42 south, turnersville, nj 08012, (888) 469-6461) where it was diagnosed that a new brake board needed to be installed. an appointment was made to have the vehicle repaired on november 28, 2018. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 94,500.
I recently purchased a 2011 ford edge private party. the vehicle was driving, stopping very well for the test drive. now after the purchase of the vehicle on the way home, in a little town the brake pedal started sinking to the floor as i was braking. it seemed odd to me so i had the brakes bleed to be sure there was no air inf the lines. no improvement, also the brakes still function as should just the brake pedal has to be completely compressed about 1.5 inches from the floor to properly work, but the brakes pull one way then lock up if compressed to quickly. the brakes only engages 1.5 inches from floor. any recalls on the brake system?
Thanksgiving time (2018) applied brakes, (2011 ford edge with 105,000 miles), went to floor barley stopping. almost plowed into car in front of us. scared crap out of us. never did this before!!! had car towed to local shop. put on new master cylinder. three weeks later brakes go to floor and very poor stopping. towed to local shop and yet a second master cylinder installed. one week later, poor stopping yet once again. few feet from plowing into garage wall. all occasions the vehicle was traveling at a good rate of speed, only to find out no stopping petal. had to rapidly pump spongey petal to hope it stops. after fixing, worked somewhat normally, but reverts back to spongey petal and scary situation as if is it going to stop. (note, no abs pulsating at any time!) once again back to shop. i consult youtube and find a video where a ford expedition had same exacting problem as mine. determined to be the abs control module. not a master cylinder. (and not a brake booster where petal is hard.)there is a hydraulic version (available through ford) and an electronic version (no longer available anywhere including ford) abs control module. so a eight year old car with 105,000 miles cannot be repaired as the demand on this part is apparently so great it has exhausted stock and cannot be replaced with a new part. in closing, the only way to repair the vehicle is to find a junkyard donor vehicle and hope that parts will not fail. but chances are that it too, will eventually fail. i believe that the ntsb needs to investigate this dangerous safety defect. abs is supposed to help prevent accidents, not create them. please consider. also, feel as though i should be reimbursed for my out of pocket costs on this too. well over $1000. thanks (xxxx)consult youtube 'sinking/spongy brake petal- with abs system ' published by (xxxx). parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
I have had ongoing issues with the brakes going all the way to the floor, with the latest issue being the 5th occurrence. i was on a dirt road and went over a speed bump before pulling into a parking lot, and my brakes went all the way to the floor. they were still soft when i went to park. ford replaced the brake booster back in 2016, and it was replaced a second time in july 2018. i have had the intermittent issue of brakes going all the way to the floor, happening most often, after i go over a speed bump. my car is in service as of this moment, and like many others, the mechanic cannot replicate the problem. from all i have read, it sounds like the issue is the faulty hydraulic control unit, but of course, there has been not a peep from ford stating this is an issue. i drive all of the time for my job, and cannot afford to be in an unsafe vehicle. i, like others, have put way too much time and money into repairs, towing costs and rental car expenses. i am strongly considering cutting my losses and buying a new vehicle.
Brake failure with pedal going all the way to the floor and vehicle would not stop. ford is aware of the problem and will not warranty the repair of the hydraulic control unit (hcu) and cost $1,000 to replace. why hasn't the nhtsa done something?
At approximately 90,000 miles 2011 ford edge was taken in to kearny pearson ford (san diego) for routine service and was notified of brake booster recall and that booster was replaced. at approx. 95,000 miles was driving on the highway and brakes failed and fortunately was able to swerve into median to avoid collision. the pedal too easily went all the way to the floor without slowing the vehicle. after pumping the brakes they finally engaged but took all my leg strength to press and stop the vehicle. kearny pearson ford inspected and found that the brake booster was not actually replaced - so they replaced per the well documented recall. about 1,500 miles later the right rear brake clips holding the pad in place fell off and kearny pearson replaced. 1,500 miles after that they fell off again to which kearny pearson replaced and attached with adhesive. now, 2,000 miles after that i had another sudden brake failure. there was no warning or indication. while on the freeway the brake pedal would go all the way to the floor without the brakes picking up. again needing to pump the brakes to get it to stop and only barely slowing while pedal was fully compressed to the floor. the car is not safe to continue driving. kearny pearson has said the problem is a faulty hydraulic control braking unit that is separate from the booster recall and a $1,300 fix. i question whether the the booster was the real problem in the first place or the hydraulic control unit is the actual culprit with the booster being a cheaper scapegoat. maybe they are not related but the failing to brake and the wheezy pedal in both cases feels eerily similar. even after the booster recall replacement the brakes just haven't felt quite right and experienced a loose brake pedal. ford has advised this is a standard and routine failure not subject to recall.
I've had several breaking issues since buying the car earlier 2018. i wish i would have researched the brake issues with the 2011 edge i would have chose a different vehicle. it was very slick out and my husband slid through a stop light when the brakes failed. they were soft and spongy and went straight to the floor. we change the brake pads paid a mechanic to change the master cylinder not once but twice because we continue to have soft brakes. had a mechanic bleed the brakes saying are was in the lines still an issue. the booster has been replaced with the recall and they will not replace it a second time. now they want to replace the hydraulic control unit. the quote is $1,650. my husband has been scared to death to drive the vehicle and i am not allowed due to the faulty braking. we have ran off the road twice by people stopping suddenly and not being able to break.
Driving vehicle and brakes went to the floor. ford dealer had it for 7 days and said they couldn't make the car brakes fail. pedal was good and couldn't do the extended warranty on the brake booster. i took car to another ford dealer and he said he would fix it under the extended warranty recall. they had it for 7 days and told me the parts are ordered and they said they fixxed it brake booster installed. no paper work to sign you are good to go.1 week later no brakes again they said it needed a brake master cylinder, put it on and 1 week later no brakes. called back the dealer and the service rep says he couldn't find where the brake booster had been replaced. he made an appointment to see the car and when we got there they had no record of an appointment and said mike doesn't work here anymore. still car has no brakes at pedal sometimes you can pump the pedal to get some brakes.brakes have been bled etc
I nearly rear ended a semi truck at a high rate of speed due to extremely weak brake pressure. had to swerve off road and use parking brake to stop. ford issued recall 13n02 for the brake booster claiming that a symptom of a failed booster is a 'spongy' brake pedal. the dealer contradicts this by saying a failed booster would result in a stiff pedal. i had my vehicle inspected at wray ford in bossier city and they are telling me that it's the master cylinder and hydraulic control unit and that it's not covered under the recall. after doing some research this is a very common problem with this vehicle. it seems that ford may have gotten the original recall wrong or they need to issue a new recall for the master cylinder and hydraulic control unit.
After breaking somewhat hard to avoid an incident the break pedal was incredibly "spongy" and would need to go to the floor to engage the breaks. two mechanic shops, other than the dealership, inspected and determined that the power booster may be the issue an informed us that there was a recall 13n02 for this vehicle. took it to the dealership where they determined it was the master cylinder and not the power booster. then they claimed it was the hydraulic control unit and that needed to be replaced. over $1000 later the problem was solved. after reviewing several complaints online about the hcu it appears that this device is faulty and is acknowledged by ford however they have failed to issue an important recall. apparently the algorithm for a recall has not been met with faulty units. this faulty device needs to have a class action established to cover the faulty devices and fix the issue and not to mention the reimbursement to the consumer.
Driving to work on streets and came to a stop light ,hit my brakes and the did not stop. after hitting my brakes a couple more times my car stopped. my brakes were down as far as they could go. took car to ford dealer and was told it was a modular that need to be replaced for $1400.00 .i think is to much for a senior citizen to pay.
Over the past 3 months my brake pedal will travel 2x or 3x the distance and i have to apply much more force to get my car to stop. i had my breaks replaced the the issue continues. sometimes the pedal will drop all the way to the floor, i found a ford issue describing the exact problem with the break booster under this name: customer satisfaction program 13n02 certain 2010-2013 model year edge and mkx vehicles built at the oakville assembly plant from may 3, 2010 through march 28, 2013. affected vehicles are identified in oasis. but after working with the dealer and 3 phone calls into ford customer service they tell me my car is not included in the program. even though it was made in the oakville assembly plant and in 2011.
During the course of ownership of a 2011 ford edge, a sever breaking issue emerged with no warning or alerts of any kind. the main issue arises when a driver down presses the brake pedal during driving conditions st any speed. the driver is met with a soft or spongy brake that retards the braking action which can lead to severe injury. the issue arose and was taken to a dealership who cannot readily solve the issue and instead would recommend that the owner learn or acccept the issue rather than resolve it. dealership performed several maintenance actions including a prescribed pressure bleed. afterwards, it was recommended to change several parts that never solved the issue. the dealer acknowledges that the 2011 ford edge is notorious for having weak or spongy brakes but gives no solution. this is a severe risk to the driver of a 2011 ford edge and to those driving around the vehicle at the same time.
My wife was driving the vehicle and when she went to stop she pressed the brakes the pedal went completely to the floor without warning. the vehicle would not stop and nearly collided with a another vehicle. took the vehicle to ford and found that it had a faulty abs hydraulic control unit that is allowing fluid to by pass the abs and not stop the vehicle. vehicle had been serviced previously in 2016 for a similar brake failure issue. (between 50 and 60 thousand miles) that time it was a faulty brake booster that prevented the vehicle from being able to stop. that repair was covered under the 13n02 extended warranty 10 years and 150,000 miles. this time ford is not standing behind a problem that could have result in a serious injury or worse.
