Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2011 Ford Edge

Door ajar light is constantly on. sometimes turns off. alarm goes off randomly because of this, doors do not lock while car is moving, dome lights stay on

Door ajar warning comes on. 44,000 miles, garage stored. alarms in middle of night. doors will not lock. lights come on and kill battery. back up camera does not work with this warning. this may happen when you enter the vehicle, going down the road, are just parked in garage.

The 2 front door switches work sometimes. when parked the car thinks the doors are open and keeps the lights on. sometimes for no reason the interior lights turn on and it drains the battery. plus when the switches are not working the car does not think that it is locked and will beep twice when locking the car. when the switches have failed the doors will not lock when driving. i have been stranded because the lights will just come on when in a store and the battery will drain down to where the car will not start.

The drivers side "door ajar" indicator light will not go off after car is started. this affects the interior lights and parking lights after the car is turned off. most immediate affect is a drained/dead battery. also safety concerns because interior lights remain on at night for some time making visibility difficult when beginning to initially drive.

Ford edge 2011 just over 39,000 mile drivers side door ajar light would come on often but after closing several times would get it to turn off. cleaned and lubed door lock area, and helped problem for a short time. now light is on permanently, doors will not lock via automatic nor interior door lock switch while driving. exterior door switch number pad will not lock door while parked. removed 15 amp interior light fuse to avoid battery drainage.

This vehicle has 64,000 miles and the driver side door has the door ajar problem, door ajar warning stays on if door is open or closed, also from the looks of things this problem has been issued one or more times in the past.. there needs to be a recall for this, searching the problem i have found that this problem is big with many ford products and for me will decide if i buy american made vehicles in the future. also i have four more doors that use the same ajar system just waiting to go bad.

Eight times within the past 60 days we have been driving our car and with no warning it slows and will not pick up speed until we turn the ignition off and turn it back on a wrench appears in the dashboard, we haven't had any accidents but we are afraid to dive the car on the interstate its just a matter of time before we are in the wrong place at the wrong time and this happens. *tr

This is a follow up complaint as advised by mary at ford motor company. ford did issue customer satisfaction program 19n09 refund for the driver side latch, however i had to replace the passenger side latch as well so would like a refund on both latches. door ajar lights stay on which causes automatic door locks to fail, dome lights to remain on while driving as well as when vehicle is parked and turned off. when driving this causes a safety hazard because anyone can enter the car at a stop sign or light and cause harm to vehicle occupants. additionally, dome lights stuck on while driving also poses a safety hazard. when vehicle is off and dome lights stay on, this drains the battery as well as fuses. we have had to replace the vehicle battery as well as fuses. we recently had to pay $1144.40 to have the door latches replaced and were told this is a known issue with ford. i reached out to ford customer service and was told they have not issued a recall for this problem. date and mileage may not be accurate as this issue has been happening for many years, however we finally had no choice but to replace the door latches when my husband's wheelchair was stuck in the back because the fuse had blown and the back hatch door would not open.

When driver side door is shut light stays on and says door is ajar, makes battery run out of juice. passenger side air bag is off at all times even when passenger is sitting in seat.

Driver-side door latch. constant door ajar alert. will not allow doors to lock and interior lights stay on. this has been ongoing for a month prior to this post.

Dash shows that the driver's front door is ajar even though it is closed. if i slam the door it works.

When closing the door the door latch doesn't latch properly and the warning light the door is ajar light stays on keeping dome lights lit. door can be opened and closed 5,6 times and still the same problem. sometimes the door doesn't even latch, non of the doors lock, and at night its dangerous to drive with dome lights lit. i paid for the repair once shortly after the warranty expired and was told by the dealer when the problem started again there was nothing that they could do and i would need to pay to have it fixed. i so mad i'm ready to trade the car in on a toyota. to make the issue worse is every car you've made since i bought this has had door latch recalls. my boyfriend just got a recall (15s16) for his 2013 fusion and he has never had an issue with his doors. i'm just waiting for the door to come open again while i'm driving. [xxx] date entered is the last time it happened. it does this on a daily basis. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Back up camera no longer functional

Door ajar warning light remains on, although door is completely shut. this has been happening for several months. i've noticed it happens more often if the vehicle is not level. also, the car alarm goes off randomly

Driver side door ajar always present. causes a variety of issues from not being able to lock/unlock car hands-free, autolock when driving doesn't work, and recently, the alarm goes off randomly. this really is a problem. wouldn't buy a ford again based on the electrical issues with this car that don't seem to be willing to be addressed.

The drivers side door latch sensor does not recognize the door being closed. "door ajar" comes on, interior lights stay on, can't lock the doors. i slam the door repeatedly to get the light to occasionally turn off. ive had it fixed twice, once at my own cost and it is happening again for a third time. it is not safe and it is frustrating ford refuses to help

Door ajar switch failure which causes error notification and the interior lights to remain on which can lead to battery drainage, failure, or damage. ultimately, this becomes a safety hazard due to possibility of becoming stranded in an unsafe location or unpopulated area. this incident occurs whenever you open and close the drivers side front door. there appear to be many complaints about this and should be considered for a safety recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that the door ajar warning indicator illuminated and remained lit even though the driver's side door was closed. the contact stated that the interior lighting remained illuminated and caused decreased visibility while driving. the kingsville dealer was contacted, but was not repaired due to the diagnostic cost. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000. updated 10/24/17*lj the consumer stated the doors would not lock while the driver was in the car, which could be a security issue. it could also cause the battery die. updated 10/26/2017*js

Door ajar warning came on with the door closed has very quickly got worse car will not lock properly when off anyone can press the keypad and get in the car so potential break in and door do not lock while driving safety issue if my daughter reaches for the door while driving the dome lights stay on while driving safety hazard while driving at night. there needs to be a recall as i'm about to spend hundreds to get this fixed and it could potentially happen again !

Faulty driver door latch microswitch keeps showing door is open even though the door is closed.

Due to the latch mechanism on the doors, the computer thinks the doors are still open and the lights inside do not turn off which makes it very difficult to see and drive when the interior lights of the car are on. computer keeps saying "door ajar". the dealership wants to charge $600 to replace the latch mechanism and they don't guarantee that the problem doesn't happen again

Door ajar warning light on but door isn't not ajar. the interior light stays on due to the warning and makes it hard to see while driving.

My 2011 ford edge my touch screen was working fine on 6/25/2016 and about noon that day i went to go to the store and my screen was completely out! it is the mother board of the electric system., temp control, radio, seat heaters , radio and so much more. the radio comes on but no screen its been over 48hrs and nothing! i called ford dealership and they said "yes its the computer and my warranty for this is no longer good. how can ford do this to their customers! all the controls are on this electric board! i love my car but im so unhappy with ford service!

Door light comes on,, door ajar ,,,(and) ,,door locks unlock when in motion,,, i really can not understand why

Driver door ajar light stays on when clearing door is shut. slamming door or gently shutting it like a formal door does not fix it. some lights stay on and will drain battery. has left me stranded twice. driver door ajar light will eventually go away when i sit in passenger seat and open and close door until light goes away. then i exit the car and lock it with remote to ensure light is off. ford plz do something about this thank you. miles on car 90k. *tr

After using the passenger door, the door ajar light comes on even though the door is clearly closed. the door needs to be opened and closed for the light to turn off. when you turn the car off and the door ajar light is on, the dome light will stay on and drain the battery and the door does not lock.

For the past few months i have been having a door ajar issue with my driver's side door even though my door is completely closed and the interior light stays on running my battery down. do they have a recall regarding this issue as i should not be responsible for replacing a faulty electrical system that already has fuel problems .

Driver side and driver side passenger door stating it is ajar. waiting for the passenger side to break. this has happened after the warranty was up.

My front driver side door ajar warning light stays illuminated whether the door is closed hard or soft, and completely closed. once i reach speeds of 10mph while driving, the automatic locking feature does not work. if i push the lock button while driving, the doors automatically unlock. the warning light is constantly illuminated and my interior lights stay on for several minutes after my car is turned off even though the door is closed which is depleting my battery. this is a safety concern because i have 2 young kids behind these doors i cannot lock.

The rear door sensor has failed causing the car to think that the rear door is not closed. the driver has no way of knowing for sure if the door is truly open or closed making it a safety issue.

Rear door ajar warning comes on intermittent. it will not doors during driving. dome lights stay on after car is turned off and drains battery.

The passenger door sensor does not work and is causing the battery to drain. i have been stranded twice. the doors will not lock when the car is in motion. i am afraid when driving my car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that the front driver's side door ajar warning light illuminated whether the door was closed hard or softly. while traveling 10 mph, the contact stated that the automatic locking feature failed. the contact also stated that the warning light illuminated, causing the battery to deplete. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

Door ajar sensor on driver's door not sensing when door is shut causing doors not to lock automatically when in motion at any speed and causing battery drainage as lights will not turn off after being locked when parked, which also exposes contents of vehicle for potential theft.

The door ajar warning lights come on every single day for all doors. constantly causing surmountable stress to driver. if unable to get the sensor to turn off, the doors do not lock while driving, which is terribly unsafe for driver and passengers. also, because the dome light is connected to the door, the lights stay on draining battery. i've also had the door ajar sensor warning come on while driving down the road, when it was previously not on. there are also warnings "check fuel inlet", but there is nothing to check. the only problem is that the sensor has a problem! which then in turn makes the engine light illuminate because it thinks there is a leak in the fuel inlet, or perhaps thinks that the seal isn't closed because ford decided the cap-less fuel inlet was a good idea. it's not!

Passenger door ajar light will not go out although the door is shut completely. this causes the dome light to stay on when parked and causes other lights to begin blinking on and off, also has caused car alarm to go off for short periods of time and than stop by itself. the door ajar light is always on when operating the vehicle, and always when starting the car after engine off and parked.

Door ajar light stays on, acts as if drivers door isn't closed. also prevents us from locking vehicle up when we leave it. started with only driver door. now is rear drivers side door also. concerned about safety of family and our valuables with this issue that shouldn't be happening.

Door ajar light is always on. the doors won't lock due to this. safety hazard for everyone in the vehicle

Vehicle has begun to show driver door ajar at all times, even when slammed several times. this causes lights in cabin to remain on and drain battery when parked and even causes horn to begin to beep at all times during the day and night. also causes doors to lock or unlock while driving or while parked and left unattended. not secure for children to ride in car since locks are not reliable or to leave the car since you may return and vehicle has unlocked. this is very much a safety concern since it is impossible to back up or drive with the cabin lights on.

Driver door ajar light came on when door was closed securely.

Constant door ajar on passenger side doors. use to be one now or is both. causes safety issues because the rear passenger can't be locked as i have a child t by at sits there. lights go on internally while driving at night which causes difficulty driving at night. lights constantly go on snd off throughout the day and night causing drained battery, and constant jumps starts.

The door ajar light remains on with the driver's side door, and now also the rear left door, when the doors are closed causing the interior light to stay on and making the door locks inoperable. the light staying on causes several issues...battery drain and the inability to lock the doors. this happens approximately 90% of the times now. it started around 47,000 miles and continues now at 52,000 miles (with the addition of the rear door doing it also at this point). there are numerous complaints about this on many websites without a permanent fix...even after replacement of parts. not being able to lock the doors while driving in some areas due to the fact anyone could jump into the car not to mention the doors could be opened by children in the rear of the vehicle.

Door ajar warning light remained on even when door was tightly closed. vehicle issue was repaired by ford dealer on 20 may 2016 at cost of $314.35

I was driving down a freeway ramp towards a stop light and pressed the brakes. the car didn't slow down. i had to step on the brakes completely applying pressure and the car did not come to a complete stop. there was a hissing noise that i heard from below the inside of my car near brakes. my car provide any warning of malfunction.

Door ajar warning light stays on while vehicle is running, making it impossible to lock doors while driving or stopped in traffic. when vehicle is parked, interior land exterior lights will turn on without reason. this causes the battery to drain frequently. if doors are locked while vehicle is parked, the car alarm will go off frequently.

Door ajar warning. there's a common issue with many fords where there's an issue in the door latch assembly that triggers the door ajar warning light and leaves the dome lights on. this is a safety issue if one is trying to reclose the (already closed) door while the car is moving and the dome light remaining on affects night vision. this happens after car is started and remains all the time the car is turns on - in motion or not

Car has stalled two times, one time was while driving and turning into oncoming traffic. the car was going full speed 55mph , had no issues leading up to it, i slowed down to run and it completely shut down - no power steering, no acceleration it was dead, the engine was off but the car was still on. obviously this was a horrible time for it to die. i was able to, barely, make the turn without power steering and pull over. i shut the car off, turned it back on and it was fine. the other time it happened was my 16 year old daughter had just started the car, put it in reverse, again the car on but nothing was happening. the issue i have here is judging by the online posts this is happening to a lot of ford suv's but because this isn't a recall the service people have to see it actually happening, so it never can get fixed, because it is very intermittent. i am very disappointed in ford and not issuing a recall, putting lives in danger - i will be selling all of our fords ( we have 3).

Door ajar light stays on, can't lock door while car is in motion

The "door ajar" alert and the interior cabin lights stay on even though the door is firmly closed. this happens when the car is stationary and moving. this is a danger at night as the interior lights make it difficult to see. the doors also do not lock due to this issue. i would also imagine the battery will wear down as a result of the lights staying on.
