We have classified the 418 complaints from 2008 Ford Edge about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
Beneath the drivers seat, there is a loud sound that resignates throughout the vehicle. also the electrical panel had to be replaced and sensors go off periodically.
While driving down van born road (heavy traffic) the speedometer stopped and went to 0 mph, the odometer read dashes, the wrench illuminated in the corner, and the airbag warning sign appeared. the rpm's in my vehicle began to climb higher as well and the car speedometer did not indicate any mph and began to decrease, after slowing down at ta red light i noticed my car would barely move and it slowly crept until i got home 1/2 mile from when i noticed the problem start. as soon as i parked other warning lights began flashing such as the tire pressure sign. i turned the car off and then back on and i experienced a hard start, which was loud, and when i went to change gears the car jerked violently as if the motor was jumping. when placing in reverse gear the jerk was even more violent, loud noise as if the engine was dropping out or i was being rear ended. i turned the car off and back on to see if the warning signals were still illuminated and they reset. when trying to see if the car would move i had to push the gas pedal almost all the way to the floor before the car would even move a little bit and again the rpm's revved really high. i ended up calling a tow truck this morning 8/20/14 and they stated that the transmission is trying to skip first gear and go directly to second gear; my car is currently in the shop. prior to this incident i experienced occasional jerking while driving and the car was switching gears. it was very scary being a female and not knowing much about mechanics. only 49,000 miles. *tr

Takata recall. this is a 2008 vehicle its 10 years old .....this recall has been years and there is no remedy. i drive my 81 year old mother around and am fearful for her safey. sitting in the back seat is not a solution. i want it resolved immediately, i have waited long enough. ford should fix it or replace my vehicle with a safe one.

Vehicle was taken to power ford in valencia for standard service a week ago. 41,000 miles new tires bought- was told all was ok. one week later i am driving when suddenly speedometer stops and mileage is reading --- grinding noise then a wrench icon appears which means the powertrain is malfunctioning, then the air bag light went on and then an ! icon which means there is a problem with tires. terrified, i called power ford and told to bring it in... i was less than a half a mile away, and put on my hazard lights and barely made it the few clocks to the dealership. this is a haunting problem that i have read at least a dozen comments about the power train. had i been ion the freeway i don't think i would be alive. please investigate this issue with the ford edge. i did not know the outcome at all. thank you *tr
I was traveling north on old mill rd in anderson, sc.i stopped at the stop sign and proceeded to cross the highway hwy 76. i had cleared the first lane and this car drifted from the right lane into the lane i was crossing broad siding my car none of the air bags deployed leaving me with glass everywhere. my drivers side door was completely pushed in that i had to be extracted through the back door on a backboard. the impact pushed my car back on to the highway going east. the left front wheel flew off the car landing onthe other side of the highway. also thedoor lekift front spring disengaged. i could have been killed. *tr
Takata airbags. we have been told to not allow anyone to ride in the passanger seat. this makes the car very unusable. ford has no idea when replacement bags will be available. they have offered no loaner car. i want to disconnect the troublesome airbag so we can use the car. no damage yet.
On 3/22/11 i was involved in a collision with 4 other vehicles; my 2008 ford edge limited was totaled. none of my airbags deployed. the driver side was so smashed; they were unable to get me out that way so they made me crawl out of the passenger side, which was difficult b/c all the damage was the front and driver side, and i was wedged in. officials, witnesses, and the other drivers involved in the accident were amazed that i survived the accident, according to them i should have been dead; they were shocked i was 'ok'. the claim has been processed; lien holders are being paid and my portion will direct deposited next week. the thing is, i'm not ok. airbags are there for the protection of driver and passengers, but none of my airbags deployed (easily verifiable). i don't want a long drug out lawsuit with ford for the airbag issue. all i want is a new ford edge limited of my choosing with free maintenance, parts (i'll pay labor) for as long as i own the car. if they will not honor my request, i will notify tv stations, radio and an attorney. *tr
Takata recall
I was on the 60 fwy west , stopped for traffic . i got hit from behind at about 65-70 mph and pushed into another vehicle. my ford edge was totaled. airbags smoked but did not deploy, looks like they malfunctioned. the area around the airbag was raised but no air bag came out. *tr
Takata recall. i was just advised i might have a recalled airbag. ford never advised me.
2008 ford edge. speed, about 25-30 mph in heavy traffic. 2008 ford edge was struck from behind by a truck and pushed into the car in front. 1) no air bags deployed; 2) the back of the driver's seat (electriclly controlled seat) let go on impact, leaving the driver lying on an essentially flat seat. the car was totaled by the insurance company. ** why did the seat let go; ** why didn't the front air bag deploy. injuries were minor: concussion. *** this is the correct vin # - your form will not accept the vin. *tr
I was hit by an oncoming vehicle doing about 50-60 mph on the surface streets when he hit me head on. the front part of my 2008 ford edge sel was totaled, and the guys green minivan was totaled in the front too. my airbags did not deploy. my airbags did not deploy. i can not believe this. *tr
I was involved in a lateral collision to the driver's side/door at an alleged 25 mph when a subject driving a 97 chevy cavalier, failed to stop at a red traffic signal at an intersection. subject had a high level of intoxication (.175 bac) & impaired judgment; he continued to accelerate through the intersection striking my vehicle in the driver's side door. i was the sole occupant and driver of the 2008 ford edge. the crash forces did push me through the intersection where my vehicle came to rest several yards from the point of impact. i was not able to open my driver's side window or driver's side door, several emergency personnel pulled and pried on the door until it opened to free me. the police report indicates that there was no airbag deployment; the officer who came to the hospital to follow up also voiced his disbelief that the airbags did not deploy. the property damage appraisers report specifically states that the side impact airbags did not deploy also. there was replacement of the entire left side from bumper to bumper. includes replacing the l steering tie rod, l center pillar & rocker, l ctr pillar reinforcement, l frt seat assembly, both doors, fenders, underbody repair, seatbelt, alloy wheel/tire, and transmission problems. i'm an occupant protection coordinator & child passenger safety tech/instructor, and in correspondence with my colleagues in the safety industry, we're all shocked at the inoperability of my side impact airbags. i only had about 6500 miles on the vehicle at the time of the crash. i was transported by squad and treated for injuries to the entire left side of my body (specifically my head, shoulder, elbow, hip,) and the right side of my neck. i'm still in need of and receiving medical treatments for the injuries caused by this crash. i field a complaint with ford in oct 08 and submitted the claim to ford (01/18/09). no acknowledgement or response to my claim has been received to date. *tr
I have contacted towneast ford to replace the airbags numerous times since i found out i needed to get the airbags replace, they tell me ford will contact me when they have replacements, meanwhile i drive around with a grenade attached to my dash.
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact crashed into another vehicle directly in the front center. the front end of the contact's vehicle was completely destroyed, but none of the air bags deployed. he sustained multiple contusions and bruising to different parts of his body. a police report was filed. the vehicle is currently in the possession of a local auto shop. numerous pictures were taken after the crash. the manufacturer refuses to send someone to inspect the vehicle and determine the cause of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 1,000.
