Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2008 Ford Edge

Same complaints as plenty of others. driving on the freeway at 65 mph and the dashboard lights up with *odo error*, the little screwdriver light came on, shows low tire pressure, the seatbelt/airbag light came on and the odometer stayed at zero. i couldn't accelerate and when i parked it, restarted it and tried to change gears it shook the car so hard and was so loud it could be heard inside the building. something is terribly wrong with this model / year of vehicle and nothing is being done about it. this is the second time it has happened to my car. the first time it reset itself so the dealership couldn't find anything wrong with it. so now if i pay to have it towed to a shop and it resets itself before they can figure out what the problem is, which is looks as if nobody can figure it out, then its wasted money on a tow and a huge risk that this happening again. this is extremely dangerous and i'm in shock to see how many other people have experienced this and nothing has been done. as soon as i typed in "odo error" in google it auto filled my exact car - i didn't even have to type it, so even google knows this is a major malfunction.

I have had to constantly replace the bulb for the driver side light enclosure. the bulb blows out shortly after replacing. most recently it was changed on april 4th and blew out april 6th

Same complaint as dozens of other 2008 ford edge owners. odo error comes up, almost all warning lights come on, tach and speedometer go to zero and car is stuck in gear making is almost impossible to accelerate from a stop. this has happened several times but is starting to happen more frequently and usually on the highway. this is clearly a dangerous defect that ford needs to address asap before people are seriously injured.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost power. a wrench icon illuminated on the dashboard. the contact placed the gear in park and shut off the engine. the vehicle later restarted. the contact called a local dealer who requested that the vehicle be brought in for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and transferred the contact to nhtsa. the failure was not diagnosed. the failure mileage was 117,700.

Bought my 2008 edge in 2012 and experienced issues with odo read error message and loss of power shortly there after. it happens most frequently on the freeway at higher rates of speed (60- 70 mph). i have had to pull off the freeway multiple times and restart the car. have heard from a few that the sensors in the transmission are shorting out but have heard other things as well. dealers refuses to look into problem and states since light is not on that they cannot read the code. this is dangerous as the vehicle is hard to keep speed and gain speed once this light comes on.

Back hatch door ajar light is on even when closed. the door will not lock and the interior lights stay on for a long time as a result.

The sunroof stays open and cannot close unless the vehicle is stopped and manually forced close. the sunroof mechanism to close to glass breaks easily. this appears to be a common issue with the panoramic sunroof, but is extremely expensive to fix. the dealership is wanting to charge between $1900 - $2500 to fix and two plastic clips that close the sunroof, because they are indicated they have to replace the entire track system, as the specific small part that needs replacing is not available.

Our vehicle began to stutter while driving down a 4 lane highway and then suddenly turned off while car was still in drive and in motion. once the engine turned off on its own the power steering did not work making it difficult to steer to the side of road. car was towed to dealership problem was noted as a faulty pcm which caused the coils to overheat and cause both the pcm and coil to fail. coils was severely melted from overheating and may have eventually caught on fire. ford was notified of the problem and states that the manufacture date was acknowledged in a tsb 14-0059 but that there is no responsibility of ford motor company end. cost to repair was $3000 due to tsb stating that customer needs to replace all coils and pcm with a unit that does not cause overheating and loss of power to car

2008 ford edge sel....with 6f50 transmission....165000 miles.... vehicle shifts externally hard from 3rd to 4th gear with a hard jerk and load klunk, so much so that it has started causing me neck problems from tensing up in anticipation of the jerk. also 2 twice up going from park to drive, had an extremly load noise in transmission that shook the entire vehicle and as i attempted to accelerate the rpm rose but the car barely eased forward and the transmission sounded as though it were in a bind. i then put it in park, turned the ignition off, pulled out the key, open and shut the door as to pretend i was exiting, then put key back into ignition, started the car, put it in gear (no problem) and accelerated as normal (no problem), except when it shifted from 3rd to 4th which is around 25mph. i have not and do not have any lights on in the instrument display panel nor do i have any error codes showing. macanic says it would be an expensive shot in the dark to start randomly changing out sensors and changing out transmission would not solve the problem as it is not an issue with the mechanics of the transmission but an electrical issue. i've also tried a hard reboot to the cars electrical system to possibly clear any stored electrical issues, problem still exists!!! definitely a recall needed, due to safety issues while driving and physical conditions that could arise from the tensing up in expectation of the hard jerk......

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle went into limp mode and she was unable to control the vehicle. the contact maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road to a complete stop as all warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition coil needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 80,100.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving at any speed, the vehicle would lose power and acceleration, and jerk in addition, the air bag and tire pressure lights illuminated, the odometer gauge failed to provide the actual reading, and error code (odo) indicated a data error with no mileage. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who could not replicate the failure. the dealer diagnosed that the code output shaft sensor circuit and the output shaft sensor (no signal p0722) sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the tsso sensor was replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 85,276.

Auto transmission will not shift, engine revs and no power, wrench light airbag warning lights, dead speedo, odometer shows dashes. had trans fluid changed. no help. i have seen several problems noted on the internet. dealers are not fixing the problem by rebuilding the trans for several thousand dollars. the trans failing should not affect the various electrical problems associated with this incident. the system will reset if the engine is turned off and then restarted with nothing indicating a problem. there doesnt appear to be any codes set. i urge ford to embrace these problems before someone is hurt because the trans "jumps" out of gear and causes an accident. this reported problem should not be "news" to your complaints department. i have chosen to always prefer a ford products during my 50 years of driving and expect an honest, thorough and concise investigation be given to this problem.

Driver door ajar light remains on after closing the door several times. once lights finally go out, it will pop right on again, even as i was driving. this is extremely dangerous, because we'll never know when the doors are ajar. even bigger issue is the doors not being unlocked in the process. just annoyed with this alltogether. hopefully something will be done about it. it's draining the battery in the process. thank you.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. the contact stated that a warning light kept randomly flashing for the door sensor, which indicated that the door was not shut when the door was closed and vise versa for all four doors. the contact was unable to enter the vehicle unless the contact manually unlocked the doors from the outside. the internal dome light remained illuminated as the failure progressed. the vehicle was not inspected and diagnosed. the vehicle was to be taken to a dealer. the approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. the contact stated that the driver side door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that the automatic door locks had not engaged and the interior dome lights remained illuminated. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 72,000. the vin was not available.

As i was driving, dash flashed "odo data error", then wrench light came on followed by airbag, tpm, engine light, basically all warning lights, odometer went to zero, loss of accelaration, pulled over and placed in park, car was revving high, turned car off and restarted, same, put on drive, stepped on gas, car revved but no movement. turned car off and waited couple minutes, restated, warning lights disappeared, odometer back to actual mileage. put on drive, step on gas, hesitation then loud transmission thump and car started moving again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a severe lack of power. in addition, while the vehicle was operated at various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal noise from the rear wheel hubs. the air bag, tire pressure, and maintenance warning indicators illuminated. the hawkeye ford dealer was contacted and diagnosed the failure as the output speed sensor. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 138,178.

Driving on the highway the instrument panel stopped working. the odometer dropped to zero while i maintained a steady speed along with gauge measuring rpm. od data error message appeared. airbag light and tire pressure lights came on as well. the acceleration immediately did not feel right. from a stop i had very weak acceleration almost none. it improved as i drove but did not feel normal.

About 3 months ago the drivers side front door ajar light was staying on and would not go away even the door was closed. we have been all kinds of other problems related to this problem such as door chimes going off randomly all the time the dome lights will not turn off when car is parked and shut off. the noise and lights are a major distraction. the other problem we have experienced with the vehicle but have had fixed is the two rear wheel bearings have been replaced. the first when the vehicle had only 36,000 plus or minus a thousand or two and the other when we only had 60,000 miles on vehicle. this is expensive and should not go bad in that short of time. we do not pull anything with the vehicle or drive it rough.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled independently. the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to operate. the contact had to jiggle the gear for the vehicle to operate normally. the failure recurred four times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000. the vin was not provided.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. although the doors were closed, the dome light and the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to an authorized dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 63,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving approximately 45 mph, the speed decreased independently, the gauges on the instrument panel failed, and the warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was merged to the side of the road where the engine was shut off and attempted to be restarted. the engine started to make an abnormal popping sound. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 126,000.

Rear turn signal and brake light overheated and started to melt the bulb and connectors. *tr

I was driving between 40-45 mph on a main road just after 12 am when the dashboard lit up. the check engine/wrench & airbag lights came on, the odometer displayed an 'odo data error' message (no mileage), & the speedometer needle dropped to 0 mph despite still traveling at 40-45 mph (i relied on my cell phone's gps for my traveling speed). the vehicle was responsive, braking, accelerating, & decelerating normally, as i looked for somewhere to pull over. i came to a full stop at a red light & when the light turned green, i pushed down on the gas pedal but the vehicle was nearly unresponsive. i fully pushed down on the gas pedal but the car only gained enough speed to crawl through the intersection. i pulled into a parking lot just past the intersection, put the car in park, shut it off, & waited 5 minutes before turning it back on. the warning lights were off & the odometer message was gone but when i shifted into drive, there was a loud, wrenching sound & the entire car jerked...still barely able to accelerate & the speedometer staying at 0, unresponsive to the gas pedal. i shifted into reverse with the same results. after a few unsuccessful attempts with the same results, i called for a ride & left the car in the parking lot, arranging a tow to the ford dealer where it was purchased. the ford service department did a test drive in their lot & the vehicle was operating normally but pulled computer error codes indicating faulty sensors (the output speed sensor & turbine speed sensor, which weren't 'communicating properly'). i took the vehicle to a local shop for repair since it had just run out of warranty. i'm lucky bethis could have been a much more dangerous situation if it had happened on a busy road or a road with a higher speed limit and fewer stops.

1st occurrence: the vehicle's speedometer went to 0 and warning lights came on. as the vehicle slowed and i tried to accelerate out of traffic, the vehicle would not move. it seemed to be stuck in a high gear. i sat on the side of the road and was almost robbed while i was waiting on my husband to arrive for help. after my husband arrived and the car had been off for about 30 minutes, he started it and it drove like normal. 2nd occurrence: about 1 month later, the same thing happened with the vehicle, fortunately i was closer to home. my husband ran through the same process of allowing the car to cool off and restarting it. after some investigation online, this issue seems to be a common problem with the ford edge. it appears to be a pair of sensors, called the turbine sensor and transmission speed sensor. it also appears that these sensors cost about $800 to replace. if this is such a common problem, why has there not been a recall from ford? *tr

The speedometer stopped working, two or three warning light on the instrument panel came on, the car lost all power. i would only go forward with the gas petal pushed to the floor. it's a known issue, found out from youtube many people have had the same exact issue. it's an intermittent issue that happens when the vehicle is on the road creating a hazardous situation for everyone. here is what is known about this issue. technical service bulletin 07-3-11 6f50 transaxles built prior to 1/1/2007 - dtc p0715, p0717, p0718, p0720, p0721, p0722 and/or harsh engagement, no upshift, fifth gear only. some 2007 edge and mkx vehicles equipped with a 6f50 transaxle with a transaxle build date prior to 1/1/2007, with any output shaft speed (oss) sensor or turbine shaft speed (tss) sensor diagnostic trouble code(s) (dtcs) p0715, p0717, p0718, p0720, p0721, p0722 and/or harsh engagements, no upshift, fifth gear only, could have an intermittent short in the oss or tss sensor. ford knows about this flaw and common problem and there is a tsb, but no recall. this is the problem that is causing the symptoms in the video. *tr

Door ajar warning light comes on so doors won't lock, dome light won't go out and nothing will show up on the dashboard display. *tr

The left rear turn signal stopped working. after searching online i discovered it was a commonly reported problem. upon removing the lens assembly i noticed the same thing others are reporting. the plastic base of the bulb is melted. the bulb is still good however. the bulb socket is charred obviously from excessive heat. nothing else including the rubber gasket around the socket seems to have been affected by this heat. *tr

Traveling at highway speed, dashboard lights up with check engine light, airbag light, get odometer failure, speedometer stops working, followed by a tire pressure sensor failure. transmission stops shifting properly including a loss of power especially when resuming from a stop. *tr

This has happened twice in the last two weeks. once at 45 mph, once at 60 mph. speedometer goes to zero despite maintaining speed. display shows od data error. airbag, tire pressure, and wrench lights come on. pull over, turn off engine. restart. reset button. transmission feels like it is in a higher gear, shifts hard little acceleration power.. once you get it to shift up to a high gear seems to shift/drive normal. *tr

My husband was driving with me and our 2 children on the highway at 70 mph. all gauges (fuel, speedometer, odometer, etc.) stopped working and the odometer read "odo data error". we had a gps that we were using and displayed our speed, so we kept going the 5 miles to our planned stop along the way home. when we restarted the car, the gauges were back up but it made a loud thumping sound when changing gears. it reversed fine (but we were on a slope), then thumped again as we switched to drive. the car only revved and did not move. we reversed again to situate ourselves so the slope was in our favor when we switched to drive. it was a tough start, but it did go. i called the dealership to report (this was on a saturday) and was told that i could bring it in, but they wouldn't be able to look at it until tuesday. we made it home (another hour drive), but i'm not using the car again until i drive it to the dealership. the car is not accelerating properly. *tr

The driver door ajar warning is illuminated on the dash and the doom lights wont turn off. i have found out this is a very common issue with fords where the poorly designed door latch binds up. i had this same issue with my 2002 explorer and now with my 2008 edge. it becomes a huge safety issue at night since the dome lights will not turn off so it is hard to see outside and could potentially cause an accident. from what i can tell i have been lucky to get this far before this issue has surfaced since i have read that ford cars 2 to 3 years old seem to have this very same issue. *js

I was driving down the highway when my speedometer and odometer stopped working. then it told me i had a error and a fault in my tire pressure system. my airbag light came on, indicating that it was off. i pulled over and turned off the vehicle. when i started it back up all the error messages cleared, but when i went to put my car into drive it sounded as if the transmission had dropped. i tried driving only to rev the engine up to 3000 rpm with barely any movement. when ever shifting from drive or reverse it made that loud popping noise. i took it to a dealership to be told it stopped doing it but they didn't fix it. they made no repairs. they are letting me pick the car up and drive it again with out any actual resolution, but they did charge me money to "look at the car". do people actually have to die for someone to issue a recall? i am reading thousands of reviews about the edge that experiences the same problems. lets issue a recall and develop some accountability! *tr

The vehicle says "driver door ajar" at random times when the door isn't actually open (from doing nothing more than opening and closing the door, rolling down the window, locking the doors, etc.). while this may seem more like a hassle than a safety issue, it is too an issue of safety. when the vehicle is in "door ajar" mode the dome lights come on. this is dangerous when driving at night. when the vehicle is in "door ajar" mode, the car will not lock. people need to be able to lock their vehicle for safety reasons that i probably don't need to spell out. i've read a few ford forums, with numerous people discussing this same issue. why hasn't their been a recall to address this? *tr

When driving all of a sudden the truck speedometer goes blank, the odometer drops to zero and the wrench, airbag and eventually the tire pressure lights illuminate. when pressing the accelerator the car struggles to accelerate because it starts losing power. i then have to pull off the road, turn the car off and allow the car to reset itself. i turn the car on, the lights are out but when i try to accelerate there is still little power so i have to press the accelerator to the floor an then the power kicks in and the car operates normal. this is a safety hazard because it has happened to me 4-5 times, on the highway. this is a safe hazard because it can potentially cause a tragic accident. *js

Beneath the drivers seat, there is a loud sound that resignates throughout the vehicle. also the electrical panel had to be replaced and sensors go off periodically.

Took my vehicle in early for service at sunrise because was concerned about loud screeching noise on brakes and erratic behavior of vehicle -surging. when driving. when the service tech (troy) opened the hood he asked em to get out of the vehicle and stand back, as the top of the battery was spattered with black oil looking material and apparently he and another technician were concerned it might rupture or explode. they asked em to get out of the vehicle, give them the keys and that they would check the vehicle and asked me to wait. about 90 minutes later they came out and said all was fine, nothing wrong with battery or brakes. i left and drove vehicle home and same problems were occurring, i returned and after calling and saying same things were occurring. i had hped to speak to [xxx], who was an amazing service supervisor, but he was not there and another man who was rude claimed the battery was still under warranty but that it was normal to have oily sludge on the battery . he said it was "normal, because it was just sweating". he refused to do anything..said the brakes needed to be at 3 before ford would replace them. i asked that he contact ford corporate and inquire. he said, "no he would not" the battery i should add since i have owned the vehicle has been repeatedly replaced. i have limited driving the vehicle, except for short local trips, and tonight the vehicle would not start and aaa claimed the battery was defective and clearly dead. it is most disturbing when ford misrepresents their warranty and refused to acknowledge defects that have been published in their won alerts. seriously dangerous! there are numerous postings of other ford edge owners having these problems. please investigate their questionable protocols on dangers that are known with their vehicles. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I pulled out of my driveway and everything was fine. i pulled out of my neighborhood and as soon as i gave it any good amount of gas it starting driving really rough and shaking and the a/c went out you could hear the misfire on the cylinders and the transmission was revving high before it would shift gears. no check engine lights or anything at this point. i turned back around and took my car back home turned it off and then turned it back on and that's when the check engine light came on. we pulled the code and it was p0352 (ignition coil 2 or pcm) so we bought and changed all spark plugs and coil 2. this still didn't fix the problem. so i took it in to the dealership and $3000 later they had to replace my pcm (the main computer that run the car) all 6 coils and spark plugs. i did a lot of research about my car having this problem and it seems like a lot of people are having the same issue. please recall this. my computer should not have gone out when i do regular maintenance on my car. *tr

I was driving under normal conditions at about 35 mph when the transmission seemed to be slipping and the wrench came on the dash and the car lost all power . i came to a stop and shut the car off and checked the transmission fluid and it was good. i started the car again and it would rev high but barely move. i got home slowly and parked it and when i came back out later and tried it, all the power was back and the wrench was gone and it didn't clunk into gears like it was earlier. i think by shutting it off and taking out the key for a couple hours reset a computer glitch in this car. i have heard many stories just like mine and speaking for many 08 edge owners we want this recalled. this could result in tons of mechanic bills and unanswered issues for owners. *tr

Hello, my 2008 ford edge is having a lot of transmission fricking issues !!!! shifting hard into reverse and from 1st to 2nd !!! *tr

This has now happened to me twice with both my small children in the car while on the highway, at highway speeds. t he speedometer went to 0, the maintenance wrench display lit up, along with the error message "tire pressure monitor fault" (or something to that effect) and i was unable after stopping at a stop light to accelerate almost causing the person behind me to rear end me. once getting to my home when putting the car into park it makes a loud clunking noise then proceeds to jerk the entire vehicle. after letting the car sit for an hour i tried to turn it one once again and test driving a few feet forward, it only moved at a slow pace when gas pedal applied. *tr

Loss of power to the extent of next to no acceleration, transmission not shifting smoothly or correctly, odometer blanks out with dashes, speedometer quits working, airbag light and transmission wrench illuminate in the gauge cluster. *tr

Driving home with 2 babies under the age of 3 in my car the airbag and wrench light flashed and odometer had dashes. car began to lose power i could not accelerate. turned the car off went to put it into reverse and the whole car jumped. i have had problems before with the car jerking when going low speeds. this is so bad. can not put the car in reverse without a loud clunk. *tr

While driving down van born road (heavy traffic) the speedometer stopped and went to 0 mph, the odometer read dashes, the wrench illuminated in the corner, and the airbag warning sign appeared. the rpm's in my vehicle began to climb higher as well and the car speedometer did not indicate any mph and began to decrease, after slowing down at ta red light i noticed my car would barely move and it slowly crept until i got home 1/2 mile from when i noticed the problem start. as soon as i parked other warning lights began flashing such as the tire pressure sign. i turned the car off and then back on and i experienced a hard start, which was loud, and when i went to change gears the car jerked violently as if the motor was jumping. when placing in reverse gear the jerk was even more violent, loud noise as if the engine was dropping out or i was being rear ended. i turned the car off and back on to see if the warning signals were still illuminated and they reset. when trying to see if the car would move i had to push the gas pedal almost all the way to the floor before the car would even move a little bit and again the rpm's revved really high. i ended up calling a tow truck this morning 8/20/14 and they stated that the transmission is trying to skip first gear and go directly to second gear; my car is currently in the shop. prior to this incident i experienced occasional jerking while driving and the car was switching gears. it was very scary being a female and not knowing much about mechanics. only 49,000 miles. *tr

Gauges on dash stop working. tool symbol shows up also tire pressure warning and exclamation mark. carstarts to slow down. when car is put in reverse it makes a loud clucking noise. like the motor is gonna fall out. can't drive it forward but u can go in reverse. this has happened several times. if you let the car sit for a few days it goes back to normal. this has to be a serious problem because lots of people on youtube have posted videos of the same problem! now i'm stuck over 100 miles away from home. not cool ford!!!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving approximately 60 mph, the service engine and seat belt sensors suddenly illuminated. a message displayed on the instrument panel indicating "data error". the contact also mentioned that the speedometer stopped operating during the failure. the vehicle operated normally once the engine was turned off and restarted; however, the failures soon recurred. the dealer stated that multiple sensors were faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 64,000.

Left rear turn/tail light is continually not working. i replace the bulb, thinking that would correct the issue but as it turned the bulb melted into the socket which had to be replaced. i've replaced the socket/connector 2x and now it's looks like replacement #3 is inevitable. i researched the internet for similar complaints and found several postings of the same problem. can anyone tell me if there is a recall on this issue? if not, there should be one! *tr

While driving down the highway the speedometer stopped and went to 0 mph, the odometer read dashes, the wrench illuminated in the corner, and the airbag warning sign appeared. the rpm's in my vehicle began to climb higher as well and the car speed began to decrease, again i was on the highway. i got off an exit about 1.5 miles from when i noticed the problem start. after slowing down at the end of the exit i noticed my car would barely move and it slowly crept until i was at a safe spot to park. as soon as i parked other warning lights began flashing such as the tire pressure sign and another that i can not remember. i turned the car off and then back on and i experienced a hard start, which was loud, and when i went to change gears the car jerked violently as if the motor was jumping. when placing in reverse gear the jerk was even more violent as if i was being rear ended. i turned the car off and back on multiple times and changed the gears and each time it did the same thing. when trying to see if the car would move i had to push the gas pedal almost all the way to the floor before the car would even move a little bit and again the rpm's revved really high. i ended up calling a tow truck and my car is currently in the shop. prior to this incident i experienced occasional jerking while driving and the car was switching gears. *tr

Three days after passing my annual texas state inspection while driving through town i initiated my left turn signal only to have the indicator blink very quickly (not the normal tick-tick-tick blink). this had happened a couple of years ago so i knew one of the bulbs had burned out on the left side. i went to the local auto parts store, purchased replacement tail light bulbs & bulb grease and asked if they could change it out for me. upon removing the covers, the young man discovered a fried/melted assembly. there is no way to remove the bulb it is so melted in the socket and the socket is discolored from the heat. that must have been some power surge to do that kind of damage. *tr

The "driver door ajar" message continues to go off on our 2008 ford edge. the door is securely closed. the lights will stay on finally causing a complete drain on our battery last night during the night. this is a big safety concern as the doors do not lock sometime until several miles down the road. we could also be left stranded somewhere as we never know when it is going to happen. we go to bed all lights are off and sometime during the night they come on. we have tried several suggestions regarding engine lubricant on the plunger, but it is a temp fix at best. this is a safety problem. i would like to have it fixed by ford. clearly if you do research on the internet this has been a problem with the ford edges for several years.
