Takata recall we have tried reaching out to several dealerships for the past year regarding both of our recall notices (airbag and fuel tank). every time we received one we have contacted (3) nearby ford dealerships in grand rapids, every dealership for the past year continues to inform us they do not have the parts and services and to call back in a month. every month for the past year we have called - still no parts! we are aware this car came from florida from our report, which we purchased in michigan. today, october 26th, 2018 received the settlement claim. it states we cannot be apart of the claims because we have not serviced our vehicle yet. however, we have tried for one full year to get this vehicle serviced! at this point in time, we are now considering hiring an attorney and attending the hearing on december 11th, 2018. we would like to receive notification how to get our recalls resolved and serviced in michigan, since noparts are available (on-going over one-year of calling). please contact me directly how we are able to proceed?! I purchased this vehicle in 2016 with a open recall, the dealership failed to inform me about or fix prior to selling it. the vehicle has had several problems they refused to repair even though i purchased it from them. they are a gm dealership said they do not have the tools to make any repairs on the vehicle. this incident in question happened on 11-04-17 the car was sitting in my driveway and i noticed a puddle of gas under the car, the gas tank is what was leaking and there has been a open recall on it since 2014.
Takata recall. dealership has not scheduled repair date. fuel tank rust/leak recall. dealer has stated repair dates unknown.
Gas tank is leaking, tank is rusted.
Car has sudden loss of power, accelerator doesn't work, but the car doesn't actually die out. this happens at all speeds, this is extremely dangerous on highways and in traffic. the wrench light comes on. this is a known problem with many fords and the fix is the throttle body replacement. ford has a customer service deal going on to fix it, but my year of car hasn't been included although i have the exact issue.
My steering wheel shakes bad. my wheels vibrate seems like they about to come off while i'm driving. my speed reduces itself from fast to slow.
Bad electronic throttle body and it's sensor. this is a common and costly repair with ford vehicles but they have refused a recall. it is dangerous as it causes your vehicle to completely shut down while driving. it happens frequently when accelerating or randomly when driving at various speeds. the first time it happened i was driving 60 mph and my car suddenly shut down and locked up then was unable to start so i had to get it towed.
Ford dealer has my 2007 ford edge due to it stalling out while driving 60 mph on a highway causing my engine to die so i had to get towed home and off of the highway. the dealer originally thought it was the electronic throttle body but they have now determined that was not the problem. instead it is the pcm which is costing me over $1500, if that even fixes this. plus i have been paying for a rental car because the dealers don't have free loaner vehicles. so this whole thing is going to cost me about $2000. now i have been researching this problem, and can clearly tell this is not normal wear and tear instead it is a faulty part that so many other owners are experiencing. i clearly see ford has been made aware of this problem and they should be taking responsibility for their mistake. ford has refused to issue a recall on this problem even though it is very dangerous and costly for the vehicle owner. i have never owned a ford before and likely will not again because of this bad experience.
Very hesitant to pick up speed at times, but more importantly on 2 occasions out side of a week , i was not able to stop, my break pedal would do anything, it wouldn't go down for me to stop, the 1st time i was driving and tried to stop at a stop sign and couldnt stop the second time was on a busy hwy and i almost hit a car at a stop light, because my breaks didnt work. . and yes i have had my breaks and rotors replaced thinking that was the problem but obviously it wasnt, i talked to a mechanic at the ford dealer and my personal mechanic and both have told me they have had lots of complaints regarding the same thing. now i have to ask a friend to ride me back and forth to work , because i am afraid to use my car in fear of killing myself or someone else.
Takata recall
The vehicle was identifed under nhtsa campaign number 14v682000 and was taken to my local ford dealership on august 22, 2016 to have the necessary repairs completed. a strong fuel odor was coming from the vehicle. after less than 30 minutes, the ford dealership called and said the repairs were completed. the only repairs that were completed were four new bolts (i have the invoice from the ford dealership showing only four new bolts were installed). the fuel tank was not replaced, no corrosion preventative was applied to the tank, and no inspection report was provided. starting in august 2017, a strong fuel odor started again. the vehicle was returned to the local ford dealership, and i was informed that the fuel tank had so much corrosion it was starting to split in one corner. the ford dealership said it recommended a new fuel tank, and that it would not be covered until the safety recall and it would be my responsibility to pay for the new fuel tank.

Had an "cel" check engine light come on for no reason. my vehicle was running fine ( except for that light) took my vehicle to the kennedy ford dealer for a fuel tank corrosion issue ( a recall ) well the recall was free to investigate but the light apparently diagnosed as the "tb" throttle body. noticed ford had had documented problems but was told by ford customer service person that my vehicle was not covered. wondering when if at all all their "tb's" will be covered? vehicle runs well except for the alleged "tb" pending issue.

Highway speed the car suddenly slowed down. speedometer dropped to zero, information panel went blank, powertrain malfunction/reduced power light came on, airbag front light came on. pulled car to shoulder as soon as possible and shut key off. restarted car and everything appeared normal except car had very little power to move until about 10 mph was reached when a hard transmission shift put car into gear and all became fully operational. this happened three times in a one week period of time, always at highway speeds. subsequent research by independent mechanic indicated this a common problem requiring replacement of two speed sensors in transmission at cost of $629.00.

Fuel tank has small rust holes in the top which causes a strong fuel smell. we can only fill tank half full to try to keep the smell from being so over whelming. ford wants up to $2700.00 to replace fuel tank. the fuel tank is located very close to the exhaust pipe. that concerns me a lot. *tr

Fuel leaking from gas tank on my awd 2007 ford edge. strong odor of gasoline fumes coming from the car. got it checked out, and the gas tank is leaking where the top half of the tank is welded to the bottom half of the tank. service center said to keep the tank less than half full to minimize gas leaking from the tank. the strong fumes still cause an extreme hazard to my family. no replacement gas tank is available in the entire united states. now this car sits motionless in my driveway. *tr
