We have classified the 9 complaints from 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 about ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING into the following categories.
I received a frantic phone call from my son stating his truck died in the middle of the road. at this time he couldn't start the vehicle and the area was pitch black and he was on a blind curve. my 17 year old son was driving home at approx. 10:00 p.m. on the winding, dark, mountain roads of our community. he was driving his 2007 dodge ram hemi 5.7 litre pickup. this pickup has very few miles on it for it's year. as he came into a corner at approximately 40 mph and began to navigate his turn the engine completely stalled leaving him with no brakes, no power steering and no engine. there were no warning lights and he was not able to navigate the turn and could not use the breaks at that point. he was on a dark road at the back side of a blind turn with no power and no brakes. after several minutes he was able to start the vehicle and safely get it off the road. fortunately there were no cars in the several minutes it took him to restart the vehicle. this is the second occurrence, the first was on a country winding road with less traffic and at a lower rate of speed. as i have researched, it appears that there have been thousands of complaints regarding dodge / chrysler 5.7 engine problems with these exact specifications and circumstances. when are we, the consumers, going to get results? will it be after someone is killed and their family is forced to sue dodge before they will admit the ongoing problem? as i googled this problem i literally found thousands of forums dedicated to this specific problem and over 100 plus websites from consumers warning others that this could happen to them. i even found fleet mechanics from dodge chiming in on forums stating that dodge knows of the issue but refuses to correct it. i am asking that the nhtsa take heed and force dodge / chrysler to do the ethical thing and correct this problem before an innocent life is taken. *tr

I have a 2007 dodge ram 1500 truck with a 5.7 hemi. my truck has 60,500 miles and has been serviced regularly. it randomly stalls(dies) at stop lights, while turning and even when moving forward, thus loosing power steering, brakes and overall control of my truck. i have it in the shop for the 3rd time now, 2 different dealerships and they cannot find the problem and i don't have enough money to let them keep on replacing parts! i searched online for dodge hemi stalling problems and many complaints have been logged. it's just a matter of time before this problem is going to get someone hurt! "help" second issue is it now stalls when i accelerate to pass or to get on the highway, then starts to run real bad until i pull over and turn it off and restart. *tr

I own a 2007 dodge ram 1500 4.7l qc. purchased new. i have had numerous incidents where the vehicle has shut off when braking upbruptly to a stop. at times while stopped, the truck idles high and the truck surges forward then shut off completely. i have to put in park and restart the truck. there has been times while in a the middle of a busy intersection when it would die. i have had other cars have to stop or maneuver away from me to avoid collision. it is at the point where i am afraid to drive this in heavy traffic. i have taken to the shop where they said it was a sticky egr valve. but it still continues. the dealership only wants to patch the problem then send you off. i am not suprise there hasnt be a fatally with this issue. *tr
With approx. 23,000 miles the oil sensor was faulty. the vehicle was purchased new on dec06. dealership replaced the sensor free of charge under the warranty. this would have cost a few hundred dollars off warranty. other 07 dodge owners i have talked to have also had this problem as well. *tr

2006 dodge ram 1500 quad st 3.7l v6 sfi purchased on 9/27/2006 at anniston - lincoln - mercury - dodge in oxford, alabama. the truck had very serious mechanical problems, the engine will just stop with a loud noise, and with a slip in the drivetrain, while driving down the street or will just die at any given time during driving. such as pulling out in traffic, stopping at a light, driving down the street as it will die at random, but may go two or three days without a problem. *ak we have taken it to the dealer multiple times, but they refuse to fix it as they say that nothing is wrong with it, even though a chip in the engine indicated a problem but did not retain the mechanical information. i didn't argue with them or get upset because i know that is pointless when dealing with i have taking it to the dealer and they wont fix it, they say that nothing is wrong with it. i didn't argue with them or get upset because i know that is pointless when dealing with bureaucracy. i discussed this with a representative at dodge customer assistance who didn't seem to care less about my problem as she stated that dodge stands behind the dealer. (not the product) , which left me speechless, i really can not believe that dodge has sold us a 30,000 dollar+ vehicle and within 6 months it is dying in the middle of the highway at random, the dealer won't fix it and dodge customer assistance stands behind the dealer, without a thought to customer service, the customer or the product. but beyond the incredible abuse i have suffered from this company's unethical business practice, this is a major safety issue as we continue to carry our family of very young children in this vehicle, with our family in danger of being injured or killed in this vehicle as it is liable to die in the road/highway at any time, with the dealer refusing to acknowledge a problem, and to this point the company refuses to stand behind the product or customer. *ak
