Takata recall on august 3, 2017 in response to a recall notice from car pros renton chrysler jeep dodge ram to have the passenger air bag replaced i took my truck to their shop. within minutes of leaving the dealership after the air bag was allegedly installed properly the air bag light came on and i called the dealership and they instructed me to bring it back. i rescheduled the return for august 11, 2017. i returned the truck at &:30 am august 11, 2017. i eas told i would need to pay $140 for a diagnosis to determine why their installation failed. a number of hours later they called and said they had determined the problem. when i returned to the dealership they presented me with 11aug17 and informed me it would cost another $289.95 to replace a switch in the newly installed, recalled air bag. i thought the purpose of the recall was to protect passengers from injuty or death from defective products made by takata and installed by chrysler and i believe my passengers are still at equal risk as they were before the recall. on the 11aug17 ivoice was a list of 9 items that allegedly needed prompt attention. none of these appeared weeks before on 16aug17 and most had already been addressed by others

Takata recall & rear differential pinion nut i have received two recall notices for this vehicle. the reality is that i live on an island (kodiak, alaska) on which there is no chrysler/dodge/jeep/ram dealership. to get the vehicle to such a dealership would require a ferry ride of over 10 hours (each way) and the expenditure of over $500. i called the fca recall assistance center, explained the situation, and asked them to authorize a local non-dodge dealer or repair shop to do the work. they refused, saying i would have to pay for the repair myself and then seek reimbursement.

2005 dodge ram 1500 truck 4x2 quad, was in motion at posted highway speed, with minimal wind present. as an eyewitness & owner of the vehicle, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, rolling the truck 4 -5 times before landing on its top (upside down). damage throughout was severe and extensive. no airbags deployed and both occupants were wearing their safety belts. front passenger head rest ripped away from seat and was found about 100 yards away from accident scene, stuck in a bush. right rear tire (passenger side), snapped off and broke away from the rear axel. tire was found more than 100 yards away from the totaled vehicle & tire was not blown out. concerns about 2 safety recalls on this vehicle is the reason for submitting complaint: recall involving a problem/defect with the air bag deployment, and recall concerning a rear axel pion nut coming loose while in motion & causing rear wheel to completely break away from vehicle. defect could suddenly cause driver to lose complete control, causing vehicle to crash and/or violently rollover. this vehicle was serviced for both recalls, twice. however, in this rollover crash that occurred, the rear wheel with brake system still attached, completely snapped off the rear axel. also, the insurance company did an estimate to repair vehicle, but did not include or mention a repair charge for the right rear wheel or the rear axel. the tail gate was also ripped off of the truck and was found about 75 yards away from the totaled vehicle. no fatalities resulted from this horrific crash, but my son who was the passenger, did suffer serious and permanent injuries, which include a head injury (tbi), multiple fractures to his ctl-spine, injured right foot, leg and hip, and abrasions and deep scrapes throughout his body. the driver, my sons girlfriend, suffered scrapes and bruising, but no serious injury. *tt updated 10/1/18*jb

What does it take for the airbags to go off in an accident? i would think a head on crash into a telephone pole at about 45mph would be enough. mine did not deploy. see attached pictures. please explain!

See attached . why has this not been fixed yet. i was in an accident yesterday and im lucky the passenger side air bag didn't go off. they both should have went off but didn't.

Takata recall. it has been more than a year since this problem has been identified and still there is no resolution. why not??? is chrysler just trying to avoid the cost of the repair?

Takata recall my husband and i are expecting our first child in one month and were trying to trade in my 2005 dodge ram 1500 for an suv that would accommodate our family and because of this incomplete recall, no dealership wants to buy our current vehicle. on top of that, the manufacturer does not currently have or can provide the materials needed to fix our truck and clear the recall. we are stuck with this truck because of a faulty airbag inflator that could potentially cause harm to us and our future child. we are having to hold onto this 2005 vehicle that poses a danger to our family because of a manufacturer that will not get their stuff together and act quick enough on the repair. no one can fix the recall right now and have no information on when the parts will be available for the repair so we could be stuck with this truck for many more years to come. something needs to be done about this so that dodge will quit dragging their feet and take this safety issue seriously.

Takata recall -- my vehicle is affected by the recall described in the nhtsa 16v-352. i took it to tom edwards chrysler-dodge-jeep dealership in bartow fl to have this defect remedied, but i was told that parts are not available for this recall repair, and they could not or would not inform me when the parts will be available. living in hot and humid florida i am concerned that this 11 year old vehicle may pose a danger to the occupants of my vehicle should the vehicle be involved in a crash where the airbags deploy and send metal shrapnel into the passenger compartment. i would like to know when i can expect fca to make the necessary parts available. i am afraid to drive the vehicle until it is repaired.

Takata recall i recently received the safety recall notice in the mail and spoke with an fca employee about the recall at the number provided. the recall states that it could injure or kill myself or my family yet i was not provided with any assistance in finding another means of transportation while waiting on the recall parts to become available. will a rental vehicle be provided while i wait for parts, as i no longer feel safe driving my vehicle?

Takata recall: received 2nd notice (july 2016) of recall for airbags; evidently, replacement bags have the same problem, but with the added bonus of possible shrapnel.. dealers do not want to talk about it. as a vietnam vet, i am not keen on shrapnel; have seen the effects. would like to get this fixed if chrysler can muster some quality control good argument about not buying spare or car parts from the orient.
